"Uh-oh guys, I think we think we might be in for it. I sense multiple jewel shards and their close." Kagome said, it was then that she realized that the jewel shards were coming from the stranger they had just met.
*That's weird. If he had jewel shards why didn't I sense them before? Wow, for a human he can handle a lot of jewel shards. He has one in each hand, two on each shoulder blade on his back, and...whoa.*
Suddenly the stranger turned to look at her. With a quick flick of his wrist his sword flew from his hands and decapitated a demon behidn Kagome.
"Quit daydreaming girl or you'll be killed." the man said. He held out his hand and suddenly the sword came back to him. He then turned around and began fighting again.
* I don't believe it. He has a jewel shard in each of his eyes!* Kagome thought.
"Watch out! Blades of Blood!" the man yelled. Suddenly the middle blade on his sword began glowing brighter. From then on whenever he attacked with his sword a razor sharp blade of blood erupted from his sword cutting down anything in his path.
"Sango, Miroku, watch out for Kagome!" Inuyasha said seeing that Kagome was being over run by demons and that he was unable to come to her side. Miroku and Sango we're barely fending off the multitude of demon's when suddenly half the demon's were wiped out by Inuyasha's wind scar.
"Now hurry and go help Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled. The demon hunter came up to Inuyasha's side and helped fight along side him.
"Something's not right. We should've taken out the demon's long ago. I know for a fact that no more demon's have entered the figth since we started. So why are their still so many left?" the stranger asked.
"I don't know. Our best bet is take them all down with a single strike!" Inuyasha said preparing to use in wind scar.
"Let me help you." the man said as he blade began glowing again.
"Let's do it! Wind Scar!" Inuyasha yelled as a powerful vortex erupted from his blade annihilating all in its path.
"Chaos Strike!" the stranger yelled as a powerful blade of energy erupted from his sword slicing everything in half.
"Inuyasha let me pick up the pieces." Miroku yelled as he unbound his right hand. "Wind Tunnel!"
A dark hole inside of Miroku's right hand sucked up the downed demon's, clearing the entire field.
"Heh, that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be." the stranger said.
"You weren't half bad out there thanks to that sword of yours." Inuyasha said as he passed the man and went to check on Kagome.
"Kagome you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Looks like your arms seen better days though." Kagome said pointing to blood coming from Inuyasha's right shoulder where a demon had landed a lucky blow.
"Eh, it's only a scratch it'll be healed by morning."
"I'd still feel better if we put something on it now so it won't get infected."
"Kagome it's only a scratch I'll be fine."
"SIT BOY!" with those words a loud 'thud' erupted as Inuyasha's head collided with the ground.
"I hate you..." Inuyasha said flatly as Kagome pried him off the ground.
"Are those two always like that?" the stranger asked.
"Heheh yeah pretty much." Miroku said.
"Neither one of them realizes how much in love they are." Sango said.
"That..and they just love to argue!" Shippo excalimed happily.
"By the way...my name is Azrael." Azrael said as he introduced himself to everyone.
"Azrael...may I ask you about the sacred jewel shards that you have?" Kagome meekly asked.
"I had heard rumors that a young lady could sense the sacred jewel shards. You must be a very powerful priestess indeed. Well, yes what do you wish to know?"
"When we first met you I was unable to sense the sacred jewel shards in you. It wasn't until you started fighting the demons that I could sense them...why is that?"
"Hmm...probably because I used to be a temple guardian, therefore I have enough spiritual power to mask the sacred jewel shards essence. When I started fighting however I put all my focus on fighting."
"Well, I guess that makes sense."
"It's getting late we should turn in for the night. Tomorrow we'll search for Naraku." Miroku said.
"Do you know where there's a place to sleep Azrael?" Inuyasha asked.
"Yes, there's a house not to far from here. It has a special room underneath it that has beds and food. You are welcome to sleep there if you'd wish." Azrael said while looking at th ground.
"Alright then let's go." Inuyasha said.
"Wait...Azrael aren't you coming with us?" Shippo asked.
"I do believe you said I'd only slow you down." Azrael said with a smirk.
"No way! Your just as strong if not stronger that Inuyasha!" Shippo exclaimed in excitement. Suddenly a loud crash could be heard as Inuyasha's fist collided with Shippo's head.
"I think what he meant to say was that we'd be glad to have you accompany us." Sango said.
"Mmhmmm." Kagome said in agreement.
"Yeah, I guess it's okay if you come with us." Inuyasha said gruffly. "Well let's get going to this house of yours."
"Yes of course." Azrael said "Just follow me."
With that Azrael led them past the burning rubble of what used to be a thriving village. Finally the stopped at what used to be a small house but was not nothing but burning embers. Azrael motioned them to a side entrance and there hidden from view was a secret passage beneath the house.
"Here you are. It's not the best place to sleep, but you should find the accomidiations to suffice."
"Thank you." Miroku said as he followed Sango, Kagome, and Shippo inside. Inuyasha waited for everyone to go inside before he confronted Azrael.
"Where are you going?" Inuyasha said.
"I...have something I must do."
"I don't like it. You smell of demon's and I'm not talking about the one's we just fought either."
"Probably your nose smell's the demon's blood absorbed by my Chaos Blade." Azrael said.
"Hmm, we'll see." Inuyasha said as he too went inside.
"Yes, we shall see." Azrael said as he walked away and slowly became eveloped by the approaching darkness.
