As the dust from Sounga's Dragon Twister settled the glowing figures of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha could be seen. Soon everyone else was found unharmed to as they all gathered around to try to find out what in the world had just occured.
"Hmm, luckily Tetseiga and Tetsiaga were able to create barrier's strong enough to deflect most of the attack." Sesshomaru stated bluntly as he sheated Tetseiga and walked towards Rin and Jaken.
"Inuyasha was that really Sounga?" Kagome asked meekly seeing the grave face of Inuyasha. His face softened slightly as he spoke to her.
"Yeah, it is. It seems that Naraku somehow managed to bring that accursed sword back from the pits of Hell." Inuyasha said.
"Sounga...I never that I'd see that sword again after your father passed away." Azrael said deep in thought.
"It would seem logical that if you'd fought our father before he would've used that sword." Sesshomaru said the shocked group."But now the real question remains, what are we going to do about it?"
"We're in no condition to fight as we are. We should rest and take him on in the morning." Bankotsu said as he pointed to what appeared to be a once magnificent mansion.
"I don't know. Naraku knows that we aren't dead, what if attacks us in the night?" Koga asked.
"That's not Naraku's style, but if he does then we'll just take shifts at staying up." Inuyasha replied.
"Fine, then its settled we'll rest up and prepare for tomorrow. Rest assured, tomorrow will be Hell on earth." Sesshomaru said gravely as they all walked inside the enormous house. Bakotsu, Koga, and Ayame were all practing outside while Miroku and Sango were alone talking. Shippo and Rin were having fun playing tricks on Jaken, while Inuyasha and Sesshomaru went to discuss about destroying Sounga once again. Azrael decided that this time would be the best to talk to Kagome.
"Why don't you tell him you love him?" Azrael asked getting straight to the point.
"WHAT!" Kagome yelled, his question had caught her completely off guard.
"It's obvious you both have strong feeling for eachother, so why don't you tell him your feelings."
"B-because,...I don't know." Kagome said silently as she looked down at the ground.
*Why don't I tell him. It's because I can't. He still loves Kikyo...even though he said he didn't. OH why does it have to be so complicated.*
"Az..." Kagome stopped in mid sentence as she noticed Azrael had already disappeared. *Well, I guessing sneaking away comes with the whole bat thing.*
Later that night the girls all sleeped in one part of the house, the guys in the other. Neither Sesshomaru, Azrael, or Inuyasha could sleep that night. Each one knew of the destructive powers of Sounga, and each one had their worries about the next day.
"Now is the time for you saying your goodbye's, for tomorrow will be too late." Sesshomaru said to Inuyasha. Even he could tell something was wrong with his brother. And as much as he hated to admit it, it was the same thing that was wrong with him. Even since he had entered this room he couldn't quit thinking about Rin.
Without a word Inuyasha got up and walked out of the room. He silently strode into where the girl's were sleeping as he looked at the sleeping form of Kagome. A silent tear fell down his cheek and landed on Kagome's cheek. She awoke slightly to see Inuyasha above her, his tears shining in the moonlight.
"Kagome, I don't want you fighting tomorrow. I couldn't stand for anything to happen to you. And for once, I'm not sure if I'll be able to protect you. I-I just...I love you." Inuyasha said in a hushed voice. He still wasn't aware that Kagome was awake and heard his every word. Inuyasha then silently left again and went outside into the cool night air.
*Did he really just say what I think he said?* Without a second thought Kagome raced out of her bed and ran to catch up to Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha..." Kagome said as she stared at his silvery white hair cascading down his back.
"Umm Kagome...what are you doing up?" Inuyasha said, hesitating a second to wipe his tears before he turned around to face her. His eyes were still red and a little puffy as he stared at her beautiful face. When he saw her he instantly new that she had overheard what he had said.
Kagome lunged at Inuyasha. Before he could react she was embracing him and crying at the same time. Inuyasha put his arms around as held her tight.
"I've been such a jerk Kagome. I'm sorry. All these times, it's just, I couldn't live with myself if anything were to ever happen to you. In fact...I couldn't live with out you." Inuyasha said, for some reason all the words he had longed to say to her came out so naturally now. How could Azrael after only knowing them for just a short time impact their lives that much.
"But what about Kikyo." Kagome asked. She hated more than anything to bring up her name but she had to find out the truth. Her heart sank as Inuyasha hesitated to answer that question.
"Kikyo will always be a part of my past, and she will always be in my heart.. But Kagome...I love you." Inuyasha said as he lowered his head and kissed her beneath the full moon. Kagome thought about how she had longed to hear these words, now that she finally had she was afraid it was all some dream.
"I love you too Inuyasha." Kagome said as she continued the deep kiss as they seemed lossed to all the world.
"Well it's about time!" Shippo exclaimed in a hushed tone. He, along with Sango, Miroku, and Kirara watched the two lovers kiss under the moon hidden in a bush. Above them in a tree sat Azrael.
"That it is." Miroku agreed.
*Blood of the Succubus. It's scent causes one's true emotions to rise to the surface. Making the one who smells it unable to hide their hearts true desires. * Azrael thought to himself as he held a small vial of glowing red blood.
"Miroku isn't it just wonderful. Wouldn't you like something like that....Miro..." Sango stopped in mid sentence as she felt Miroku grope her butt.
SMACK!
"MIROKU! You pervert I can't believe they ever let you even become a monk!" it was then that Sango realized that her loud outburst revealed their hiding spot.
"Oops sorry." Sango said to Inuyasha and Kagome.
"For crying out loud. Doesn't anyone sleep here anymore." Inuyasha exclaimed in an angry voice. Yet never once releasing his grip on Kagome.
"I'm very glad for both you. Congratulations" Miroku exclaimed as he rubbed the right side of his face which was glowing red from Sango's hand.
"I was wondering when it was going to happen." Shippo said.
Everyone began talking at once and started having a good time. Even though Koga hated to admit Kagome was Inuyasha's girl, he even congratulated the two at the very least for Kagome's sake.Sesshomaru walked over to Inuyasha and laid his hand on his shoulder.
"Congratulations brother." Sesshomaru said. With those words everyone stoped. No one would've ever thought it would be Sesshomaru to say those words. Inuyasha looked up into his brother's eyes and for a split second saw pride and happiness in them.
"Thank you." Inuyasha said with a genuine smile towards Sesshomaru. Jaken looked like he was about to have a heart attack all through out this.
"You are very lucky Miko. Inuyasha has chosen you as his mate. A demon's mate is more lasting and affectionate than any human marriage. Take great pride in this." Sesshomaru said before he walked away.
"Inuyasha."
"Yes Kagome."
"Azrael over there. He's crying."
It was true. Azrael was sitting on a tree brach above everyone else watching all that occured. A few tears fell down his cheek as he turned and looked away.
"Hmmm wouldn't have pegged him for the emotional type." Inuyasha murmered.
"Hey Azrael why don't you come down here. We're going to fix some early breakfast with some of the food in the room. Is that okay?" Shippo asked.
With out notice Azrael leaped from the tree and landed in front of Shippo.
"Aaah, don't do that!" Shippo gasped.
"Ha ha, sorry about that. Sure let's go get some food, I'll help you okay." Azrael said as he and Shippo walked away. But not before splashing some of the succubus's blood on to the rock next to the large group of people. It was strange that once hated enemies were now considered friends as they ate and slept and traveled as companions without fear or distrust. Only and enemy like Naraku could inspire such hate to do this. Even though everyone was in a semi juvial mood, they still couldn't get their minds off of the fact that in a few short hours they would face Naraku for the last time.
