Chapter 4: Remembrance</b>

As the servant led the group to their rooms, Kagome began to picture in her mind how to get to different secret spots in the castle. She remembered everything Sesshomaru use to tell her and she basically lived his childhood through the vivid pictured images created in her mind through his strong words of divisionism. She only smiled when they led her to the room she had always room, and it was left as it was before she had left.

Her kimonos were still neatly folded in her drawers and the cherry wood of the futon was as clean and sparkling as she had left it. The curtains of the balcony were pale as the skin of the one she once loved and the flowers found at the bottom of the balcony, red, white, yellow, and blue, wrapped around the steel poles, were nurtured through the love of a kinder being. She stepped onto the balcony and breathed deeply, taking in the sweet smell of the nearby ocean.

She nodded in satisfaction and she was left alone, the maid closing the door softly. When she made sure no one was in sight she walked over to the bookcase and reached up, taking a blue covered book from its place. The bookcase popped back and she opened it, descending the stars she had known so well. As she got to the bottom of the staircase, she lit the candle on a nearby shelve and looked around.

The room looked so ancient and forgotten, compared to the sparkle that once accompanied this room's loneliness, making it much more than the room it seemed now. Walking through the cold room, she took off some spider webs found in some of the furniture. She walked to a nearby window, taking off the curtains and letting the little light that the sun gave in the room, giving it more light.

As she too a more illuminated look at the room, she concluded that this room had to be totally neglected by Sesshomaru for personal reasons. He was too clean to be such a klutz and leave any room unattended in a castle, his castle. She then remembered something and went to the book shelf found in the far corner; she went to it and opened an accessory drawer at the bottom.

Reaching all the way back, not afraid of being bit by an insect at the moment, she recovers a bundled cloth. Opening the dirtied material, she pulled on a chain and smiled. It was the 10K tri-color gold butterfly pendant accented with diamonds which was suspended from an 18" rope chain. It was his gift to her when they were younger.

Her mind was starting to drift to those wonderful memories until her keen hearing senses told her someone was approaching her room. She quickly stuffed the pendant into the cloth and into her kimono, rushing up the stairs and closing up their secret sanctuary. She acted as if she was searching for a book when the unexpected visitor came in, who was only a maid.

“My lady, dinner will be served very soon and my lord has asked me to come and inform you that your presence is accounted for” the young maid said
“So, he is asking me to dine with him?” she asked as though she was stupid
“His mate, children, and your companions will be present”
“I see, will you tell him that I said I will consider it since the sun can't set on his ass”
“Excuse me, my lady?” asked the maid in total confusion
“Just tell him, he will know what I mean” she said and the maid only nodded, bowed, and left.

---------------------------------

Sesshomaru was pacing around the room, thinking about what she would say to his request. Of course she would come, if not she would starve but she was free to roam the castle, the cooks would cook for her any second she asked. He couldn't believe she would say no, he was the Lord of the Western Lands, no one ever denied his request…well she had a freedom to do that too. What if she said no, what would he do? Would he care? Why does he care now? Why must live be such a pain in the ass? He questioned himself and suddenly froze when he felt the presence of the maid approaching.

The maid scurried in, her face looked at the floor and she bowed her presence and stood there, quiet. Why wasn't she saying anything? Why was this lady not telling him anything? Why? Why? Why? Then it came to him. Oh I have to ask them to speak to. What if there was a war? Would they wait then? Where they doing this on purpose? His mind was crashing and he just couldn't think of nothing but her.

“You may speak”
“Lady Kagome…told me to inform you that she would take grand consideration to your offer”
“Don't lie, quote her”
“Yes, my lord, quote `…will you tell him that I said I will consider it since the sun can't set on his…um, rear end' end of quote” the maid shifted and although Sesshomaru would have killed her for lying to her, he understood the high respect that would lead her to highly regard her vocabulary towards him.
“Fine, you're dismissed” he said cruelly and she quickly left

Sesshomaru sighed and finally felt defeated. If he had to go request it himself, he would do so. He would do anything to have her close to him at all times, regardless of the situation, regardless of the circumstances. He just felt a need to protect her and feel her close by. He wanted her to dine with them and he would do everything he could for that.
--------------------------------------

Kagome stood regally from the hot springs and wrapped a towel and a robe around her wet body. Her long black tendrils soaked her back, leaving her chilled and in need of some body heat. She walked over to her closet, closed her eyes and reached in the drawer. From the bottom of the drawer, she pulled out the kimono.

Biting her lip for good luck, she unfolded the kimono and opened her eyes. She smiled, her smile becoming into a big grin. Her favorite kimono that she liked so much, she never wore. Sesshomaru had gotten her that too, it was especially made for her, meaning no one in the whole world but her had that gorgeous kimono. It was bright yellow and had blue butterfly imprints on it. She faced the tall body-mirror and placed the kimono in front of her body. Closing her eyes she swished side to side, the silk making her skin as soft as a feather.

She sighed heavily and took a gentle approach to putting on this special kimono. With the gentleness her nimble fingers could master, she successfully placed the kimono on her body without damaging the expensive piece of clothing. Then, with the most pride and carefulness she could obtain, she took the butterfly necklace from the cloth and placed it around her neck, the clothing and jewelry making a perfect match.

Pulling her hair in a quick but bun and applying little to no make up, she though she was ready to go. She was about to walk out of her room to the grand dinning room when she felt no traditional breathing difficulty with this kimono then she looked down and noticed that she had no obi on. She couldn't go downstairs wearing any obi. She frantically looked through the closets, looking for the obi hangers but none were found. The she slapped her head.

“Duh, they're all in Sesshy-sama's room!” she scolded herself and though about going to his room to retrieve one.

She made up her mind, grabbed a blue haori off a shelf, putting it on as an overcoat. She carefully and quietly went down to Sesshomaru's room, being careful as to not let anyone see her. She quickly found his room and entered his open door. Quietly she crept over his closet, which was near an open door where his personal hot springs stood. Just for kicks, she peaked and her eyes widened. Sesshomaru was taking a bath, oh and he looked so beautiful. She couldn't help but look, but when she noticed he was about to get out, she grabbed the nearest haori and quietly ran out of the room.

While she was walking down the vast hallway, she tied the obi around her waist, quickly and skillful. It was the obi he loved dearly, his blue and yellow one he favored over everyone. He had others but she could tell this one was his favorite by where it was, exactly at the top and attention before the other ones.

Before she went downstairs, she stopped by the large windows. Closing her eyes she remembered all her royalty etiquette, she had to learn it front and back. Making sure she knew what she needed to know, she continued down the hallway, quickly descending the stairs and walking into the dinning room. Everyone was there except Kykio, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha.

As soon as she noticed, Sango and Inuyasha walked in, excusing themselves for being late. When they were seated, Sesshomaru made a grand royal entry, his maids and servant who surrounded the table sparingly bowed deeply, the lord on acknowledging their bow with a short curt nod.

When he took a seat he noticed the necklace on Kagome's elegant neck. He recognized it suddenly and his eyes widened a bit. He hadn't seen that necklace in ages, thinking she had it and when she came, he noticed she didn't have it on. Where did she get it from? He still questioned himself but was interrupted by his servants clearing throat.

“Dinner is served, sire” he said and he looked down at his plate with a small smile, sushi, yes he loved sushi, Hehehe. (A/N: He has to like something once in his life, sushi is devilicious)

For a second, the table was quiet, Kagome deciding to silently eat her food in little bites, trying to not devourer her food like Inuyasha was doing. That was bad manners in her family.

“So, Sesshomaru, I hear that you and Kagome had a childhood past together?” asked Miroku suddenly
“We did” he said in almost a whisper
“They did, but she means nothing to him anymore, have you met my children, his two sons Toshiro and Yasuo?” she said, changing the subject

The two small children looked no more around eight or nine; they were adorable and looked more like Sesshomaru than anything. They smiled widely and waved them small clawed hands at Kagome. She smiled and looked away. Kagome noticed how the little girl, sitting a little over was not introduced. Her face was sad and much dimmed of the light that seemed to be able to radiate from a small smile. She remembered the night she saw them and then called her name, unwittingly.

“Rin…” the name rolled off her tongue and the child quickly looked up at her, with sad insecure eyes
“Yes my lady?” she asked quietly
“Tell me about you Rin, introduce yourself, since you won't be introduced” she said, throwing a glare at Erina.
“What would you like to know of this filthy human?” she responded and Erina smirked
“You're not filthy, don't say that”
“As you wish…”
“What do you like to do Rin?”
“I…” she started and was quickly cut off by Toshiro
“I like to fly and take walks with daddy” the child said and Kagome looked at him

“Toshiro, I asked Rin, let her answer…” she said and he bowed with embarrassment
“I like to pick flowers and put them on Sesshomaru-sama, he looks so pretty with them on!” she said joyfully
“Which is one habit I'm going to have to extract from her, filth as she shouldn't have such amenities to my husband…” said Erina with hate
“Erina, she's not filthy, she's a human but she's not filth!” Kagome said with much force
“Maybe we should finish eating…” started Inuyasha

“Yes, she's filthy, just like you are. You gold digging, people pleasing, idiotic whore. You actually think you mean something to Sesshomaru, please Kagome, you're old news to him, he has me...you undignified bitch”
“Maybe we should go” said Miroku
“No, believe me, I'm sure I meant something to Sesshomaru once in a while, those moments meant something to me as well as him, isn't that true, Sesshomaru?” she asked but Sesshomaru just looked at his plate and kept quiet
“Be happy he likes you enough to spare your feelings, don't be hurt sweetie, I'm sure if you sleep with his brother, it will have the same effect…” she said and Kagome marched out of the room, crying.

As she ran to her room, tears reappeared in her eyes, rage and undomesticated hurt. Out of uncontrollable bitterness, she ripped the necklace from her neck and threw it on the floor, a couple steps from her room which she unhappily shut and locked. Throwing herself on the beds, she sobbed into the covers. Such situation having a crushing pressure in her heart.
-------------------------------------
In the dinning room, everyone finished their meals in silence. No one dared bring up the argument and hurt feelings which just danced across their eyes.

After they were done, each went to their assigned rooms in silenced; no one bared a good evening. No one felt too cherry snickery do. (A/n: means `no one felt too talkative and happy)
