Author's Rant: No. Hey, anyone ever think or say a monosyllabic word and then think of Sesshomaru? Uh…why am I getting this feeling that I'm a little obsessed? No, of course not. Sesshomaru's obsessed…with Kagome…or is he like that because I made him? Gah…!

Chapter 4: Tokyo
I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say 'he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.'
~Vincent Van Gogh
Four days later and it is absolute. In only a week this woman from the coffee house has enthralled me to the point of distraction…and obsession. She is the most wondrous creature I have ever seen…and it has even cost me sleep at night when I will suddenly awaken with a picture of her face in my mind and quickly rush to my art and paint and sketch…and stare. Even in a painting I can't help myself but to look at her because she's just so perfect…so right. In real life she is only more ethereal. Today when she came in to the coffee house, she even looked at me, a short glance but it made me feel warm. And when she left…she looked over at me once again. She was with that woman again and they were laughing and talking away…because they were so happy about something or other. She mentioned the Kyoto Museum of Art…and Tokyo; they kept saying…something about Tokyo. That made me pause. Was she going away to live there? If this was the case, would she be leaving soon? In a week? A month? A year? And would she remain there for those time periods? Or would she be there forever? At that thought I had to tear my eyes away.
*****
“Oh, Inuyasha! Wow…I don't know what to say!”
“Don't think about it then. Just say yes.” He said with a grin.
“But it's so sudden…I don't know if I can…”
“Kagome…you always can. For me?”
Her eyes misted over as Inuyasha hugged her and gave her what he had been holding out.
“Red roses…and a thank you card. That's just so…nice!”
“I thought you would like them.” He said with a smile, as he hugged her to him.
She stared at him in amazement. This couldn't be Inuyasha! The Inuyasha she knew didn't apologize to anyone let alone her! Besides, shouldn't it be her apologizing for something or other she had done?
“It's why I've been so busy…and why I had to cancel lunch the other day. I had to book the reservations and meet with the manager just to let him consider it.”
`And dinner…at the “Jewel of Paradise” restaurant in Tokyo…'
“But the money…it's so much! TOO much to afford!” She said as she buried her face into his neck, tears coming to her eyes.
“When…my mother died, she left behind some money for me and my half brother.” Inuyasha said softly as he squeezed her comfortingly.
“So I can afford a few things now that I couldn't before.”
She gave a look of surprise, bringing the roses closer to her chin.
“Half brother? You've never told me about him-”
He cut her off.
“He didn't mix well with MY mother. So he didn't mix well with me.” He said darkly.
She momentarily paused at the severity in his voice, and noticing it, he lightened his attitude, softening the features in his face.
“He doesn't matter…only this does.”
She hesitantly smiled and looked at all that he had already given her.
“Oh…but Inuyasha…this is…”
She looked at him again.
“This is so big a thing to give me…”
“Kagome don't worry about it. I want to give it to you. Besides, we aren't going until after new years…which is where my other surprise comes in!”
Her eyes widened dramatically. Another one? It wasn't enough that he had to wait almost two weeks in order book a table for Tokyo's most well known restaurant, but he had something else?!
“There's another one?” She asked, her thoughts in a whirl.
He laughed.
“Yea. I'm taking you to an art symposium at the Kyoto Museum of Art for their new year's celebration. It's a real black tie affair too!”
She stared at him, her mouth hanging open slightly.
`Art museum? Like…'the' art museum? Oh my god…!'
“An…an art symposium? But wait, how did you get an invitation? I've heard you have to be really well known…”
He grinned, walking her up the stairs to her apartment.
“I have some connections.”
She clapped her hands together in excitement. Oh, how she loved art! Ever since she was little she used to go to local art shows and see the artists painting…but when her parents and grandfather had died…she had put all in money into her education and bills, and her car, and her animals…and needless to say she didn't have money often enough to really even go out to eat anymore. So to be going to something like this was just - amazing! You had to pay a great deal of money to go into those now - or be invited, and she either never had enough money…or prestige.
“But…but I don't know what to wear…for both occasions!” Her expression faltered slightly as her nose scrunched up in thought.
“Kagome, that is the most overused expression…next to of course, “I need a cigarette!”…”
She pouted at him as she got to the door of her apartment and got her key out of her pocket. She looked at him before opening it.
“But that's in two weeks…”
“So?” He took her hand and leaned forward to kiss her deeply. She sighed again at the contact, her eyes averting themselves to look to the ground, and felt him pull away hesitantly after a few moments. His dark eyes gazed into hers, his breath fluttering against her mouth. Silently, those eyes asked her a question that she understood just as quietly.
“Won't you ever let me in?” He asked softly, his eyes gleaming in the florescent lighting.
She blushed and looked away from him to stare intently at the floor.
“Inuyasha…I told you when we met that it would take…time before I was even able to kiss you…”
“Which you do wonderfully.” He said with a grin as he tipped her chin up. She sighed, and looked into his eyes.
“I'm sorry…but not yet.” She said, he voice a little stronger this time.
He shrugged it off, taking a step back.
“So, I'll see you on Friday for dinner here?” He said, backing off and putting his hands up before him to give her some space. She gave him a relieved look and grinned, nodding her head energetically like that of a young child and opened her door to fight off her three dogs and cat.
“I'll invite my friends because they want to meet you! You know, the one's who came back from Paris?” She yelled over her shoulder as she closed the door with some difficulty. He smiled despite himself and turned, walking down the hallway only to stop when a woman carrying some grocery bags gained the last step and passed him. Waiting patiently, he let her go around him and then started down the narrow stairway, whistling quietly to himself.
*****
She heard the phone ringing from inside her apartment and cursed out loud, fumbling with her key while trying to securely hold her grocery bags. On the third ring she finally opened the door and hurried inside, quickly picking up the phone on the last ring before her answering machine.
“Sango Moikushi speaking…oh hi Ka - what? Yes…? Oh…oh my god! OH MY GOD, NO!”
Slamming the phone down, she dumped her bags on the kitchen counter and flung her door open to meet Kagome in the hall. She was dancing around like an idiot, her cordless phone still clutched in her hand. She screamed excitedly at her friend when she saw her, and Sango screamed back, Kagome's three dogs rushing around them as they squeezed their way out of the open door. And without even caring, the two women began jumping up and down, their loose hair swinging around them as they held hands and dancing around in a circle still jumping.
“KAGOME, you stupid fool, what has-!” Sango shouted even as Kagome shouting back, cutting her off.
“I know! I KNOW! BUT I'M GOING TO TOKYO!”
“TOKYO? BUT WHY?” Sango shouted over her as Oni started barking loudly.
Kagome squealed again.
“I'M GOING TO THE “JEWEL OF PARADISE” RESTAURANT!”
“HEY! WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP OR TAKE IT INSIDE!” One of the neighbors down the hall yelled as they opened their door and glared at them. Merrily, Sango waved at him and continued dancing around.
“Oh Kagome! How do you- How did `he'- When are you both- Oh, let's go out!”
“Out? Where?” Kagome asked with a laugh as she reached down and picked Nikkou up, hugging the small stray excitedly. The animal responded by woofing in surprise, but her gently nature allowed her owner to continue.
“Who cares? What about the coffee house? We haven't been there for like a week!”
Kagome grinned and put Nikkou down, shooing everyone inside and grabbing her purse. Dialing a number on her cordless, she excitedly called up Kaeda and made sure if she could house sit for her. While she did so, Sango put away her groceries, leaving a message on the counter for Miroku in case he came home.
*****
“Oh my god…it's just so perfect Sango!” Kagome sighed dreamily as they sat down in the coffee house, looking around. It was almost eight so not many people were there, only themselves and a trio of high school girls having a few drinks, and a man in the far corner, most of him covered in shadow from the dim light. Kagome couldn't help but notice him because for a split second she thought it was Inuyasha. He had long blonde hair held back by a loose braid that hug over his shoulder, and his pale hands looked to either be writing something or drawing, she couldn't tell. But she knew it wasn't her boyfriend because Inuyasha never came here. The man tipped his head up to look at her, most of his face hidden but faintly she thought she saw something close to a smile come onto his lips. Blushing, she hesitantly smiled back and turned back to her friend.
Sango, not seeing the display had ordered them espressos with extra cream and done, leaned forward on her arms to stare at her best friend happily.
“So? Now can I meet him?”
Kagome laughed joyously in answer and clapped her hands as she threw her head back.
“Yes! Of course, I mean its TOKYO!” Sango laughed herself and grabbed Kagome's hands.
“But why?”
“I don't know! He just came to work after my shift and said sorry and then gave me a bouquet of red roses and a thank you card - and then told me that he'd gotten reservation!”
Sango squealed, all but grabbing the two Styrofoam cups from the waitress.
“AND!” Kagome said excitedly, swiveling around on her chair.
“He invited me to go to the Kyoto Museum of Art's next symposium! Their new years celebration, Sango!”
“Holy-”
“I KNOW!” Kagome said gleefully, clapping her hands together.
“But wait…” Sango said, her smile dimming slightly as she suddenly began having thoughts.
“Do you think there's a catch?”
“Wah…?”
Now Kagome's smile dimmed.
“Catch?”
Sango nodded, her eyebrows coming together in thought.
“You think he has a reason for wanting you there?”
Kagome stared at her.
“A reason besides we've been going out for a year and haven't done really anything together?” She asked, one eyebrow going up in speculation. Sango took a long sip of her espresso and nodded.
“Well…maybe he has a more selfish motivation then just you…like another woman or something.”
“ANOTHER WOMAN?”
“Shhh!” Sango said as the table of high school girls turned to look at them.
“But Sango…!”
“Hey, hey! I'm just being careful!”
“You could be subtle about it at least!” Kagome hissed as she buried half her face in her cup to hide her blush.
Sango sighed deeply and downed her whole espresso in a few seconds.
“Kagome you're like my sister! I wanna make sure he's not a sleaze like your last boyfriend was!”
Kagome snorted into her espresso.
“Leave Muso out of this - AND Bankotsu!” She said as Sango opened her mouth to speak again.
“Inuyasha is coming by for dinner tomorrow so you can meet him then.” She said as she came away from her coffee with some cream on her nose.
“Here, and fine.” Her friend said as she rolled her eyes and gave her a napkin.
“Are you gonna get another?” Kagome asked curiously as Sango got up and threw away their empty cups.
“Nah. Gotta get home in case Miroku's there.” She said. Kagome got up at her words and followed her out the door, but as she did so, she saw a flash of movement and looked over into a pair of astoundingly light brown eyes. They seemed to flash at her from the dim light around them and then a face leaned forward slightly into the light and she saw white skin and a masculine mouth with a softly pointed chin- before Sango grabbed her hand and forcefully pulled her through the door.
*****
“What do you mean you couldn't find him?” Kagura asked with a pout as she leaned back in her chair.
Koga leaned forward in his to answer her.
“Not find Kagura, locate.”
The pout deepened.
“Fine then, locate. Do you have ay ideas where you could look?” She asked as she poured them both a cup of ocha.
“Oh, of course. I have it on good notice that he is at least here in Kyoto.” Koga said crossing his arms over his chest. She offered him the tea but he put a hand up in refusal.
“You know I hate that stuff Kagura. It's healthy after all.”
Kagura looked pleased.
“Why else do you think I look so good?” She asked coyly as she took a sip of her own.
He gave her his trademark wolfish grin.
“Mother nature?”
She grinned herself but tapped her fan on the desk to gain his attention back to the issue at hand. Wordlessly, he did as she asked, his grin melting away into a firm straight line.
“Kyoto. He is here in Kyoto. I did find his apartment but no one was home and so I left him a message.”
Kagura gave another pleased look.
“Ah…locate. Now I see.” She straitened out her simple gray business uniform, brushing off invisible dirt from her knee length skirt.
“So now can we go?” Koga asked as he stood and opened the door as if to leave.
Kagura sighed and put a hand beneath her chin in thought.
“Sorry…I can't do lunch today with you and…Miroku, wasn't it? The photographer?”
Koga nodded.
“Yeah. Him and his girlfriend just got back from some business shoot in Paris and America.” He said nodding.
She shrugged.
“My husband, Naraku is taking me to dinner tonight at the “Iron Fang” Restaurant in Osaka. I have to get home now and get ready.”
“It's one O'clock Kagura. Osaka's only-”
“Go back and talk with that college roommate of yours. Bring him to the office tomorrow.”
“Already ahead of you on that one.” Koga said with a nod as he walked through the door, closing it quietly behind him. A few seconds later as she was about to get up to leave herself, her overcom went off and she answered it.
“What?” She asked primly as her assistant answered.
“Naraku-san has called to regretfully inform you that dinner is going to be delayed.”
Kagura sighed.
`I guess we aren't going to Osaka after all…' She thought disappointedly. Oh well. Friday perhaps.
“Alright. What is the reason?”
“He has been laid up in traffic in Tokyo.”
Kagura nodded and responded.
“Then tell him I'll be at lunch with Koga Soudou because of the symposium details.”
“Hai, Kagura-san.” Her assistant said softly and then disconnected.
Sighing as she quickly grabbed her coat, she caught Koga down the flight of stairs to the entranceway. He grinned knowingly and opened the door for her. And they both left.
*****
When I got home that night to my apartment there was a note on my door. I didn't recognize the name left on it at first but then suddenly as I went inside I remembered.
Koga…Koga Soudou from Takarazuka University of Art and Design. He had been my roommate for the four years I had enrolled there and had been something of a friend to him afterwards. What confused me however was why suddenly he was looking for me…his message was very unexpected.
“To Sesshomaru Mikadzuki from Koga Soudou. If you remember me, you'll know I'm not one to leave long messages so here it is. You are requested to join myself and Mrs. Kagura Hakumei at the Kyoto Museum of Art tomorrow at four sharp in the subject of your artistic abilities. She requests that you bring a sample of your art with you as the museum is looking for newer additions. The number for her secretary is below if you should be able to make it. Koga S.”
He read it again, skimming over the number unsure whether to frown or smile. It was very out of the blue for his college friend to be suddenly contacting him. To tell the truth, he had greatly respected the man, although Koga had been pompous at times. Koga himself was a fellow art student after all and they had created some of the universities most quality paintings.
It brought back many old memories he thought he had forgotten and he let out a little chuckle. It had been…nine years since then but it still seemed like only nine days. He hadn't spoken with Koga in a little over two year now after they were separated. He had gone to study art in the America's, and Koga had made a deal with some art museum looking for a messenger boy. It looked like things hadn't changed. But that didn't surprise him. Many things did not change during the span of a life. Even his.
He took off his winter jacket and hung it up on the coat rack behind his bedroom door. After doing so, he put the letter by his cordless and went down the hall to take a shower. He would call, he decided as the hot water hit his chilled skin a few minutes later. And he would take that painting he had done of that woman from the coffee house as his sample art.
It was time the world knew of his passion.
alakeshadow here. Boy, I think I might possibly have outdone myself with this one! Although I am surprised to not have more reviews...humm. Well, I guess that as long as I am making myself happy by writing, then it doesn't matter much, right? Right. That means review for anyone who didn't catch it. Lol. anyway, anyone watch "V For Vendetta"? It's really awesome. For those of you who did, can you imagine Sesshomaru being the one behind the mask? Ooooo...hehe. And could that be a hint for someone to possibly go out and write such a story? ??? Well, if you do, consider it a challege from me. I'm far to busy to formally post it. Oh well. And don't give the computer screen any mean looks! In my bio I said I was lazy. What do you expect? Lol. Love you all!

They seemed to flash at her from the dim light around them and then a face leaned forward slightly into the light and she saw white skin and a masculine mouth with a softly pointed chin- before Sango grabbed her hand and forcefully pulled her through the door.
