The next morning everyone was sitting near the fire. Everyone had just gotten done eating their breakfast. "Where should we go next?" Miroku asked.

"I don't know I mean usually when we go somewhere, we meet someone who's supposed to be in our group. Everyone is already here." Kagome said.

"I want to know what happened in our pasts." Sango said. "No one knows what happened or why we've been brought together."

"Any time the voice is heard they always say `Awaken' and to find out our pasts. Something must've happened." Miroku said.

"We're supposed to protect Kagome." Inuyasha said as he unconsciously scooted closer to her.

Kagome noticed his actions and hid a smile. "I wonder what happened when we were younger. How could something horrible happen to us? When we were children. Why protect me?"

"There's obviously something special about you to point you out specifically." Miroku said.

"We should probably take this time to get to know each other better." Sango said. "I don't know you all very well."

"That's a great idea Sango. If we're going to be a group we should learn to trust each other." Miroku said.

"Hentai!" Sango screamed as she slapped Miroku. "I didn't mean like that!"

"Ah gomen. I must've misunderstood you." Miroku said as he caressed his red cheek.

"I want to know who the fuck this Naraku person is." Inuyasha growled.

"It would be nice if you would keep your jealousy to yourself." Miroku said. "We do not know whether or not this Naraku character is an ally or enemy. He could be taking advantage of our missing memories. I'd advise you to be careful Kagome."

"You stay the fuck away from that guy until we know what's going on. You're not leaving my sight." Inuyasha said firmly.

"What are you talking about? I didn't leave your sight the first time." Kagome defended herself.

"I don't care. You'll be near me at all times from now on." Inuyasha said.

"It might be a good idea to listen to Inuyasha for right now. At least until we find out what's going on." Miroku said.

"Hai." Kagome sighed. There was no way she would be able to avoid him anyway. He could track her scent or see her at night. There wasn't anywhere she could go either.

"Shall we get to know each other then?" Miroku asked.

A couple hours later and plenty of slaps from Sango the group had gotten to know each other pretty well. Miroku of course groped Sango a couple of times during their talk. "Nothing of what we talked about really gave us any clues to our past." Miroku said aloud.

"I wonder how long until something comes up." Kagome sighed and rested her elbows on her knees. "I think I'm going to go for a walk."

"You're not going alone." Inuyasha stood up with Kagome.

"Fine do you want to come Inuyasha?" Kagome asked as she folded her arms.

"Let's go." Inuyasha said. As soon as Kagome turned her back from Sango and Miroku Inuyasha shot them a look warning them not to follow.

"Well it seems he would like some alone time with Kagome." Miroku said as soon as they were out of earshot.

"Seems like it with that dirty look he just gave us." Sango said.

Inuyasha and Kagome walked side by side, not caring where they were going. Kagome was lost in her thoughts. It really bothered her that she couldn't remember her past. She couldn't help but wonder what happened.

"Kagome?" Inuyasha said.

"Huh?" Kagome stopped and turned towards him.

"You almost walked into the river." Inuyasha said.

Kagome looked in front of her and realized that if she took one more step then she would've fallen into the river. "Oh."

"What's wrong? Don't lie to me." Inuyasha warned.

Kagome sat down where she was and brought her knees to her chest and hugged them tightly. Inuyasha sat down next to her with his legs crossed. "I just can't stop wondering what happened. It just bothers me that I don't know." Kagome said.

"We'll figure it out soon." Inuyasha said. He wrapped a comforting arm around her and brought her close. He couldn't help but take in her scent or think about what happened in the hot springs.

He couldn't resist the taste of her. Inuyasha cradled Kagome's chin in his hand. He leaned in close and pressed his lips against hers. Slowly he coaxed her lips open by licking her lips. She opened for him and allowed him to deepen the kiss.

Eventually they pulled apart for air. Inuyasha laid down on the grass with Kagome laying on his chest. He laid his head on his arm and wrapped the other one around Kagome. Smiling Inuyasha breathed in her sweet scent. It was so calming to smell her nearby.

"Inuyasha?" Kagome said.

"What?" Inuyasha said as he rubbed her back.

"What are you going to do after all this is over?" Kagome asked.

"I'm not sure. I never thought about it." Inuyasha said. Truth was he never really had time to think about it. Something was always coming up. This was probably the first time he was able to relax since he woke. "Why?"

"I was just wondering." Kagome said with a hint of sadness in her voice. Sure she didn't know him that well but she didn't want him to leave her after everything was figured out.

"What's bothering you?" Inuyasha asked. He sensed the sadness and wanted to know why she suddenly got so sad.

"It's nothing." Kagome said. She hugged him tightly. "I'm glad I met you."

"Isn't this touching Sango?"

Kagome looked up and saw Miroku with a smirk on his face and Sango standing next to him with an amusing look on her face. "I think so Houshi-sama." Sango smiled.

"Did you enjoy your alone time?" Miroku sat down next to the couple. Sango sat down next to him.

Kagome blushed and hid her face in Inuyasha's haori. "Shut up monk." Inuyasha said. He sat up with Kagome and held her in his lap.

"Seems you two are very close." Sango teased.

"Looks like you and the monk are getting along too." Inuyasha smirked.

"What?" Sango hid her blushing face. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"We just came to let you know that we're going to start cooking lunch." Sango said urging the blush to go away. "Houshi-sama was going to get some firewood after we found you."

"I guess I'll go hunt then." Inuyasha said. As much as he hated to leave Kagome even for a minute they did need to eat. "I'll be back. Walk with Sango and Miroku to camp. Don't leave."

"Hai." Kagome said. Inuyasha helped her up and gave her one last look of warning. He then took off in the direction of the forest.

"We should probably get back to camp. Inuyasha might yell at us." Miroku said.

"I heard that!" Inuyasha yelled from a distance.

After everyone finished eating they sat around the fire in silence. They were all thinking hard about their own things. Kagome was still bothered by the fact of not knowing her past. Inuyasha thought about Kagome's earlier question about what he was going to do when everything was over.

Of course he'd stay with Kagome. He'd already marked her and whether she liked it or not they were mates. Nothing but death could change that. He had yet to tell her that he'd marked her. When they first met Kagome told him that no one had seen a youkai in her village for years, so he doubted she knew about mating.

What bothered him the most was when he would tell her. She was having enough trouble taking everything in as it was. He didn't want to cause her any more worry or stress. Besides he wasn't really looking forward to her reaction. Sure she liked him now but that didn't mean she wanted to be mates.

He sensed something was wrong with Kagome and looked at her. She had her eyes closed and she was bent over slightly. "Kagome?" He called out to her.

Miroku and Sango both looked at Kagome when they heard the worry in Inuyasha's voice. They noticed the position she was in and immediately went to her side. "What's wrong with her?" Miroku asked. She hadn't responded to Inuyasha earlier.

Kagome's eyes slowly opened. Everyone gasped when they noticed her eyes were blank and glowing. She cocked her head to the side and sat up straight. "Awaken." She said.

"Dammit I'm tired of this." Inuyasha growled and stood up in front of Kagome. "Who the fuck are you?"

"Your memories are lost. You must find them and follow your destiny."

"Who are you?" Inuyasha demanded.

"I am the one who will lead you to the right places. Your memories must be recovered. I don't have much time left so you must listen carefully. Your memories will be recovered little by little as you travel to places you've once been before. Head south to the wolf territories. The leader, Prince Kouga shall lead you to the place of battle where your memories were lost."

"May I ask who you are?" Miroku said.

"Who I am is not important. Kagome is getting stronger. Soon I will no longer be able to use her body."

Kagome stood up and caressed Inuyasha's cheek. "You are special to Kagome. You are what makes her stronger." She closed the distance between them and kissed him gently on the lips.

Inuyasha caught Kagome, as she felt limp in his arms. The voice no longer possessed her. What did the voice mean when she said he's what makes Kagome stronger? Inuyasha moved the hair out of Kagome's face and sat down with her cradled in his lap.

"Will she be alright?" Sango asked.

"She'll be fine. She just needs to sleep." Inuyasha said. He knew from experience that she would soon wake.

"At least now we know where we must go." Miroku said.

"We can leave as soon as Kagome feels up to it." Inuyasha said.

`Kagome.' Someone called to her.

"What?" Kagome said. She searched the darkness for the voice. "Who's there?"

"Who I am is not important. Your companions know in what direction to go. Soon your memories will be recovered. You'll face many trials but never give up. Look to Inuyasha for strength when you need it. You are important to him as he is to you."

Confused Kagome didn't know what to say. What was the voice talking about? She would've asked the voice to explain but knew it wasn't there anymore. Slowly everything seemed to fade away.

Kagome jerked awake and gasped as someone covered her mouth. She calmed down when she saw Inuyasha's amber eyes looking into hers. "Miroku and Sango are sleeping." He said quietly.

Kagome nodded in understanding and Inuyasha removed his hand from her mouth. She noticed she was in Inuyasha's lap on a tree branch. "What happened?" She whispered.

Inuyasha placed an arm on her back and the other under her legs. He quietly jumped from the tree to the ground. Without a sound he ran to the river they were at earlier that day. He didn't want to wake Miroku and Sango.

When they got to the river he sat down and positioned Kagome so that she was straddling his hips. She blushed at their intimate position but tried to ignore it to hear what happened. Inuyasha sighed and began to tell her what happened.

"I kissed you?" Kagome asked not looking him in the eyes.

"Well whoever took over your body, although it was still you." Inuyasha said. "What's wrong? We've kissed before."

"Nothing's wrong. Its just weird to kiss you and not be aware of it. Besides you started all the kisses." Kagome said shyly meeting his eyes.

A smirk made its way across Inuyasha's face. It was true. He could never get enough of hers soft sweet lips. She never resisted him anyway so she must enjoy it on some level. He did have to admit it was a bit awkward to have someone take over Kagome's body and kiss him, especially since he was so dominant.

"It was a little different. I'm a male inu youkai, I'm supposed to be dominant and take initiative." Inuyasha said as he crossed his arms. "You don't seem to have a problem with that."

"I don't. I...wouldn't know what to do anyway. I always avoided guys when they came around." Kagome said. "You're the only one who's gotten close enough to actually court me."

`Court?' Inuyasha thought. It was what he was doing in the Inu youkai sense, except that he'd already claimed her. "Other males have tried to court you?"

"Hojo-kun always came around. He was nice to me but I avoided him a lot." Kagome said. "I had to turn him down nicely."

"You `had' to?" Inuyasha asked. He uncrossed his arms and placed his hands on her back.

"Something wasn't right. Like I was supposed to wait for someone to come along. It was just a feeling." Kagome explained. "I had the same feeling when any guy came along."

"What about me?" Inuyasha asked.

Kagome blushed and turned her head to look into the forest. "I...didn't feel it when I first met you." She said quietly.

Inuyasha gently grabbed her chin and turned her head so she would look at him. "What?" He asked. He'd heard her earlier but he wanted to hear it again.

"I didn't feel like something was wrong when I met you." Kagome said a little louder. Even through the darkness you could see her rose colored cheeks.

Inuyasha smiled in arrogance and leaned forward to catch her lips in a sweet kiss. How could he resist after hearing something like that? Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck as she unconsciously opened her mouth for him.

Smirking Inuyasha deepened the kiss and leaned back until he fell onto the grass. Kagome fell with him, surprised. Inuyasha pulled back from the kiss and reversed their positions. He smiled in reassurance at her and leaned down to kiss her again.

"So this is where you went."

Inuyasha pulled away from the kiss and looked up. "Miroku!" He growled.

"I just went to get some firewood and found you here." Miroku waved his hands in innocence. "Gomen, I didn't mean to interrupt."

Seeing as how Miroku had ruined the moment, Inuyasha stood up and held out a hand to help Kagome. She took his hand and was up in an instant. "Are you feeling better Kagome?" Miroku asked.

"Hai, I'm fine now. Arigato." Kagome turned red at being caught with Inuyasha.

"We should get some sleep." Inuyasha said. He picked Kagome up bridal style. One last glare at Miroku and he jumped into the tree back to camp.

Sorry this chapter took so long to write. As usual I'm being stressed with something. Hopefully that problem will move away and the others will lessen.
