Chapter 12
Ookami
---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------
Watch the sunrise
Say your goodbyes
Off we go
Some conversation
No contemplation
Hit the road
Car overheats
Jump out of my seat
On the side of the highway baby
Our road is long
Your hold is strong
Please don't ever let go Oh No
[Chorus:]
I know I don't know you
But I want you so bad
Everyone has a secret
But can they keep it
Oh No they can't
Driving fast now
Don't think I know how to go slow
Where you at now
I feel around
There you are
Cool these engines
Calm these jets
I ask you how hot can it get
And as you wipe of beads of sweat
Slowly you say "I'm not there yet!"
[Chorus x2]
Maroon 5 `Secret' (This song is for INIEisMINE!!( ))

Inuyasha spent the next morning grumping around. He was tired of Miroku always interrupting him and Kagome. He wanted some alone time with her, no interruptions whatsoever. How else was he going to talk to Kagome about the mark? That wasn't something you'd talk about in public, especially since he did it to her without knowing.
Breaking the awkward silence Miroku cleared his throat. "How long do you think it will take to get to the wolf territories?" He asked.
"Who the hell knows? I've never been there. I'm sure as hell none of you have either." Inuyasha grumbled.
"I don't think it will take long. At a steady pace we may get there in a couple of days or so." Sango said. She had vaguely remembered some of the tajiya slayers taking a journey there. It only took two days to get to the northern part of their territory and they were about a day away from the tajiya village.
"I hope it doesn't take too long." Kagome said. "I really want to know what happened."
"Well we could always ride on Kirara but she'll get tired if she carries all three of us." Sango said. Kirara mewed and jumped into her lap.
"I'm carrying Kagome with me. Kirara should be fine with you two. We can walk and you can carry her when she gets tired." Inuyasha said.
Everyone nodded in agreement and Kirara transformed into her youkai form and leaned down to let Sango and Miroku on. "Watch the hands houshi or I'll let you fall." Sango glared in a warning.
"Hai, hai." Miroku nodded. "I'll wait until we get off."
Sango knocked him off with her hiraikotsu and waited for him to pick himself up and get on Kirara again. "Will you two knock it off already?" Inuyasha growled. "Let's go."
Inuyasha knelt down indicating that Kagome should get on his back while Kirara took to the air. Kagome climbed on and wrapped her arms securely around his neck and he hooked his arms under her knees. He asked her if she was ready and after feeling her nod on the back of his neck he jumped high into the air and jumped from tree to tree.
---------------
A couple of days of moaning and groaning the group finally got somewhere near the wolf territories. Inuyasha could faintly smell the scent of wolves. The scent was days old but it indicated they were there often. They had yet to run into any humans or youkai on the trip. Miroku found it odd that he hadn't even seen a wolf around. They were very cautious of their territory he figured by now they would've at least seen a small pack.
"Inuyasha do you not find it odd that we haven't seen a wolf yet." Miroku finally voiced his opinion.
"Yeah their scent is getting stronger now. I think they're watching us." Inuyasha said.
"Watching us for what?" Kagome asked.
"To see whether or not we're a threat." Sango explained. "They'll get as many pack members they think they need to eliminate us."
"What!" Kagome asked. "We're not here to do anything!"
"It doesn't matter. They're very territorial." Sango said. She grabbed her hiraikotsu off of her bag and held it in front of her in defense in case anything was to happen.
Inuyasha pulled Kagome closer to her. He would be able to protect her better that way. He could smell a wolf nearby. He signaled to Miroku without letting Kagome know. Miroku passed the signal to Sango and she nodded and watched her surroundings. Kirara then roared quietly and changed into her larger youkai form.
"I smell a kitsune nearby." Inuyasha said. It was a little weird because only the scent of wolves and their prey should've been left. There were no wolves near the kitsune to indicate he was prey. "Be careful there's a wolf nearby."
Kirara growled ferociously and moved closer to the group. "Kagome stay behind me." Inuyasha said.
Kagome nodded but then turned around when she heard a familiar voice. `Awaken.' She heard in the distance. "What?" She said.
"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.
"I heard the voice again." Kagome said.
"What voice?" Inuyasha asked. He turned around to look at Kagome but she had her head down. He lifted her chin and looked into her eyes to see what was wrong. Her eyes were blank as before when she blanked out. He couldn't do much about it though. A wolf youkai jumped out of nowhere.
"Sango watch Kagome!" Inuyasha shouted as he went to get rid of the wolf.
"Kagome?" The wolf murmured loud enough for Inuyasha to hear.
Sango moved in front of Kagome, watching her from the corner of her eye but also keeping an eye out for wolves. So far nothing had happened. She watched as Inuyasha approached the wolf carefully.
"You're in our territory. Or is a hanyou like you not able to tell?" The wolf snickered.
Inuyasha growled and flexed his claws. "We have important business to attend to and are just passing through. Can you get that through your thick skull or are you wolves too stupid?" Inuyasha shot back.
The wolf growled this time. "Tell me who the miko is and I'll consider letting you go through."
"No deal. Her identity is none of your business. I'll just fight you and get back to our traveling." Inuyasha growled.
"Have it your way." The wolf smirked. He couldn't help but remember the girl from somewhere. Maybe if he got a better smell of her he might remember. The wolf looked at Inuyasha and ran towards him. He jumped in the air and onto Inuyasha's shoulders, with another leap he was directly behind Kagome. He sniffed her and dodged Sango's attack.
The wolf did a back flip and stood his ground. So he did know the girl. Kouga's girl had come back. He had to take her to Kouga. "Well I see your no match for me. I think I'll take the girl as a fee for letting you live." The wolf shouted to Inuyasha.
He ran towards Sango and then skidded to a stop, making dust fly through the air. Sango coughed and covered her face. She looked up to see where the wolf went but he was no where to be found. Suddenly she heard something behind her and she turned around. When the dust settled she realized Kagome and the wolf were gone.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha shouted.
"Where the hell did they go?" Miroku asked. One minute he saw the wolf with Kagome on his shoulder the next there was nothing. "Can you pick up his scent?"
"No, there are wolves all over now I can't track Kagome's scent through theirs." Inuyasha growled. He had lost Kagome again.
"I can help." A voice said.
---
Kagome moaned and sat up rubbing her head. Had she passed out again? Did the voice take over? "Inuyasha?" She whispered hoping he'd answer. She was in a dark area and couldn't see her own hands in front of her face. Something wasn't right. She couldn't sense anyone familiar around her. It felt like eyes were watching her.
"Well it seems she's awake." A gruff voice said. "Someone light some damn torches. You know humans can't see in the dark!"
"Gomen Kouga." Someone called out.
Suddenly dozens of torches were lit and Kagome shielded her eyes from the brightness. She peeked through her arm to see where she was and who she was with. Kagome gasped and backed up when she noticed a pack of wolf's eyes on her. "What's going on? Where's Inuyasha?" She asked as her back met a cave wall.
"It is her. Great work Ginta for finding her." One of the wolves said. He had dark black hair in a high pony tail and blue eyes. He was tanned and was wearing a chest plate and a fur skirt thing. He also had armor on his legs and forearms. "I've been looking everywhere for you Kagome."
"How do you know my name?" Kagome asked backing up when he tried to reach for her even though she had no where else to go.
"What do you mean?" Kouga asked confused. "It's me Kouga. I know I haven't seen you in years but I can't believe you'd forget me."
Kagome was uncomfortable being around a bunch of strangers, especially since they were all staring at her. "Ano..." She said in a small voice.
"I see you're uncomfortable around them." Kouga said. He turned around to look at the others. "Go away until I call for you."
The wolves nodded and left quietly. "How do you know me?" Kagome asked as soon as the wolf youkai left.
Kouga sighed and sat down next to her. He took her hands in his. "You are my woman." He replied as if it was natural to claim strangers. "You have been for a long time."
Kagome took back her hands. "How can I be? I just met you!" She said in shock.
"Just met..? I met you when you were eight." Kouga said.
"You knew me when I was younger?" Kagome asked.
"What the hell is going on?" Kouga demanded to know. He thought she was playing a game with him.
"I don't remember anything." Kagome said.
"You don't remember us meeting or anything?" Kouga asked sadly.
"Gomen, but no." Kagome bent her head. Because she couldn't remember anything she was hurting people she met before.
--------
"Who the hell are you?" Inuyasha asked.
"My name is Shippo." The voice introduced.
"Shippo? How in the hell is a little runt like you going to help us?" Inuyasha asked distractedly. He was still trying to see if he could sniff out Kagome's scent.
How was he going to believe a baby kitsune? Shippo didn't look a day over five. He had on blue pants with a green shirt covered in leaves and a fur vest. He had reddish brown hair and green eyes.
"I know where the wolves den is." The Kitsune said.
"How do I know a runt like you is telling the truth?" Inuyasha asked.
"Inuyasha we have no other choice but to trust him." Sango said.
Inuyasha stopped and looked at the kitsune. "I'd like to ask one question before we do listen to Shippo." Miroku said. "Why are you helping us?"
"Because the girl-" Shippo began.
"Kagome." Inuyasha interrupted.
"Because Kagome reminds me of Okaa-san." Shippo said shyly.
"Ah I see." Miroku said.
"Fine you can help. You'd better not be lying or you'll be wolf food." Inuyasha threatened.
Shippo nodded and began running in the direction the group had originally planned on going. Inuyasha couldn't help but wonder why the kit was running around in wolf territory. He also wondered why he couldn't smell his parent's scent on him or anywhere in the area either.
---------
"Kouga!" One of the wolves said as he ran inside cave. "The hanyou is on his way."
"Inuyasha!" Kagome exclaimed.
"Watch her. Make sure she doesn't leave." Kouga said. He stood and walked towards the cave entrance. "I'll take care of him."
"No!" Kagome shouted. She would've made a move towards the outside but the wolf stood in her way.
-------
Shippo led Inuyasha and the others to the wolves den. It was a cave behind a waterfall. Inuyasha growled loudly at the wolves. All of them had gathered and stood on the cliff of the waterfall. "What have you done with Kagome?" Inuyasha yelled.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha heard someone say but couldn't hear them.
"You should know by now that she's my woman!"
"What the hell are you talking about? Show yourself dammit!" Inuyasha growled.
Kouga came into view from behind his pack. He jumped off the cliff and landed about ten feet from Inuyasha. "Damn that kitsune runt. I should've killed him when I had the chance." Kouga said.
Inuyasha looked around and noticed the kit disappeared. He figured he was too scared. No matter he found the bastard that has Kagome. "Where is she?" Inuyasha asked.
"It doesn't matter anymore. She's my woman. I've told you thousands of times." Kouga said.
"Do you have any idea of what he's talking about?" Miroku asked Inuyasha.
"No, he just keeps babbling like a baka. I've never seen this guy before in my life." Inuyasha said.
"What are you talking about? What the hell is wrong with you people? We met long ago and then you disappear and now you act as if we've never met!" Kouga shouted. "I'm getting tired of the whole joke. Quit fucking around!"
"We're not. We don't know what the hell you're talking about!" Inuyasha yelled. "Just give Kagome back!"
"That's it! I'm tired of this joke. Quit acting like you don't know me. We've been rivals for years." Kouga said. "What happened while you were away?"
"I think we should sit down and talk things out. Obviously there is a lot of confusion on both our parts." Miroku said.
"I agree." Sango placed her weapon on her back and picked up Kirara.
"Fine. Get Ginta to bring Kagome out and then you guys go in the cave and mind your own business unless I say otherwise." Kouga said sternly.
The wolves nodded and walked into the cave. Soon they heard yelling and arguing. "Let me go!" They heard.
"Itai! That's hurts you know." Ginta whined.
"Good! You deserve it for grabbing me out of nowhere and dragging me all over!" Kagome complained.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha said.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome said. "Let me go!" She put her hand on his where he grabbed her arm and a small white light flew from her hand and burned him.
He suddenly let go and nurtured his hurt hand. "Itai!" He exclaimed. "Nee-chan really likes to play rough."
"Nee-chan?" Kagome said as soon as she was in the safety of Inuyasha's arms.
"Will you at least not cuddle while we figure out what the hell is going on?" Kouga said strictly. It was mostly his jealous but he was anxious to find out what was going on.
"How about we all sit down and we'll explain our situations." Miroku said.
Everyone nodded in agreement and sat down in a circle.

All along I was searching for my Lenore
In the words of Mr. Edgar Allan Poe
Now I'm sober and "Nevermore"
Will the Raven come to bother me at home
Calling you, calling you home
You... calling you, calling you home
By the door you said you had to go
Couldn't help me anymore
This I saw coming, long before
So I kept on staring out the window
Calling you, calling you home
You... calling you, calling you home
I am a natural entertainer, aren't we all
Holding pieces of dying ember
I'm just trying to remember who I can call
Who can I call
Home... calling you, calling you
I run a secret propaganda
Aren't we all hiding pieces of broken anger
I'm just trying to remember who I can call
Can I call

Sorry it took so long to update. I didn't mean to. I've just been really busy and then I had writer's block and blah blah blah. I did make this chapter a lot longer than usual. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
I'll have to edit this later because I'm in a hurry. Hopefully I'll get to it tomorrow. It's almost midnight and I'm pooped.
Yes, I do know there is a lot of confusion in this chapter but the next chapter will help a lot.
