Chapter 31

A Figure, A Voice

 

Inuyasha chased after Kagome and found her lying on the ground looking up at the moon. He walked up to her and sat down next to her head. “Are you alright?” He asked.

 

“I'm fine. I just wanted to leave.” Kagome sighed. She rolled towards him but didn't look up at him. “Do you think we'll recover the rest of our memories and find out who's after us?”

 

“Probably. We've already recovered a lot and we've barely done anything.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Have you ever thought of what you were going to do after we recovered our memories?” She asked.

 

Inuyasha laid down facing her and reached out to lay his hand on hers. “Kill the bastard who did this in the first place!” He said casually.

 

“Inuyasha you know that's not what I meant.” Kagome giggled. “Are you going to stay in Sesshomaru's castle?”

 

“We will worry about that when the times comes.” Inuyasha said expressing the `we' part.

 

“What do you mean we?” She asked.

 

“How many times do I have to explain? We're mates remember. That means we will be together forever, or did you forget that?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Gomen, I forgot.” Kagome blushed. She flipped over and faced away from him.

 

Inuyasha chuckled at her blush and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. “Remember this time or I'll make it more embarrassing the next time I'll have to explain. Maybe next time there will be an audience, and you know how Miroku likes to push things...” He teased.

 

“You're such a jerk.” Kagome lightly elbowed him and blushed brightly.

 

“I'm not a jerk.” Inuyasha defended himself.

 

She flipped around and reached up an arm to rub his ears. “Oi what are you doing?” Inuyasha asked as he pulled his head away from her hands.

 

“Rubbing your ears.” Kagome said as she moved closer to rub them again. “You don't want me to Inu-kun?”

 

“Keh! Do what you want.” Inuyasha said.

 

Kagome giggled realizing that if she called him Inu-kun she could probably get what she wanted. Her hands returned to his ears and soon enough she heard a content growl coming from his throat.

 

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Miroku asked as he walked into view with Sango.

 

“Miroku!” Sango hit him lightly on his arm.

 

Kagome quickly sat up from her spot and turned towards her friends. “What are you guys doing here?” She asked.

 

“Well we came to check on you but it seems you're alright.” Miroku smiled lecherously. “I see that Inuyasha is helping you out just fine...”

 

“MIROKU!” Inuyasha growled. He quickly jumped to his feet, intent on beating him senseless when he caught him.

 

A familiar white flash, signaling a memory, interrupted the chase.

 

MEMORY

 

Kagome and Inuyasha were comfortably sitting in silence on a fallen tree, well actually Inuyasha had knocked it down to prove he could do it. Kagome had goaded him on saying that he couldn't and of course his pride, of course couldn't leave it as it was.

 

“I was only kidding.” Kagome said.

 

“Keh, doesn't matter now.” Inuyasha crossed his arms as a smug look crossed his face.

 

“Are you really that mad because I said you couldn't do it?” Kagome asked.

 

“It doesn't matter now. I did it.” Inuyasha said. “So quit talking about it.”

 

Kagome giggled and stood up. “So you proved you're strong.” She smiled. She gently rubbed his ear.

 

Inuyasha started leaning into her touch before realizing what he was doing. “O-Oi!” he shouted before pulling his head back.

 

“You know you like it!” Kagome giggled and took off in a run.

 

“I do not!” Inuyasha yelled as he chased after her. Of course since he had youkai blood in him, he was able to catch up to her in seconds. As he reached out to grab her he heard a sound coming towards him. He moved faster and pushed Kagome down to the ground. “Don't move.”

 

“Huh?” Kagome asked but kept her position on the ground. She lifted her head to see what was wrong.

 

Inuyasha saw a large boomerang fly towards him. He jumped out of the way and looked for the one who threw it. “What the hell do you think your doing?” Inuyasha yelled towards the girl.

 

“Exterminating a youkai.” The girl shouted as she caught her weapon.

 

“I do say Sango you are pretty graceful with your weapon.” A boy said as he walked up behind her.

 

“Shut up Houshi-sama.” Sango shouted. She prepared to throw her weapon again.

 

Kagome stood up and walked in front of Inuyasha. “He didn't do anything!” She shouted. “Why are you trying to kill him?”

 

“He was after you!” Sango shouted.

 

“Not to kill me!” Kagome shouted. “He's my friend! The only one I have!”

 

Sango hesitantly put her weapon down. She swung it over her shoulder and strapped it. “I'm sorry.” She said obviously not happy that she had to say it.

 

“Now Sango I think we should go introduce ourselves and apologize.” The boy said. The two of them walked over and stopped a few feet in front of them. “My name is Miroku, and this is Sango. We apologize for the attack.”

 

“I'm Kagome and this is Inuyasha.” Kagome said. “It's alright.”

 

Miroku knelt down in front of Kagome and grabbed her hands. “Would you do me the honor of bearing my child?” He asked.

 

“What?” Kagome and Sango both shouted.

 

Inuyasha hit him and pulled Kagome behind him. “What the hell is your problem?” Inuyasha shouted. “You're a little too young to be having kids and she's too young to be having them!”

 

“A little jealousy I sense.” Miroku said as he stood. “That's alright I think Sango is a much better choice! Sango will you do me the hono-”

 

“Don't even say it!” Sango interrupted. She heard it plenty of times and was tired of it.

 

END

Miroku and Sango both sank to the ground slowly. Kagome fell onto her hands and gasped. Two memories in one day is a lot for the group to take. Of course Inuyasha looked as if he wasn't affected at all. The worst that would happen to him was that he'd sleep for an hour longer than usual.

 

He noticed Kagome was slowly falling forward, too tired to support herself. He caught her before she moved even an inch closer towards the ground. Lightly, he brushed the hair out of her face and stood. “Come on, we all need some sleep.” Inuyasha said.

 

“We've all had a tiring day.” Miroku said as he stood and helped Sango.

 

They all wearily walked back to the hut. They all laid down and fell asleep.

Not long after the group fell asleep they all had a dream. They awoke in a dark area. Blackness was all they could see except themselves. Looking around their companions all appeared one by one.

 

“What the hell is going on?” Inuyasha asked as he stepped towards Kagome.

 

“I think your all in my dream.” Kagome said. She looked around and got a nostalgic feeling. “Then that means that person will show up.”

 

“What person?” Miroku asked. They all moved closer to Kagome to hear what she was going to say.

 

“The per-”

 

Kagome was interrupted when a bright light appeared before them and starting changing into a person's form. The form changed into a light shaped as a body. The only thing they could tell from the person was that it was female. It had a blank face that looked creepy and had long wavy hair.

 

“This may be the last time I can get through to you all.” The figure said. “I am losing strength from the battle and can't stay long...”

 

“That voice...” Kagome said. “You're the one who awakened us.”

 

The figure nodded. “Your memories are returning fast. You must be watchful of enemies. Youkai and humans will be after you for what you possess. For now it was shielded but you have awakened enough to reveal what you've hidden in your sleep. Be careful and make the right choices.” She said.

 

“What is it that I'm hiding?” Kagome asked.

 

“It will reveal itself in time.” The voice slowly started to fade.

 

“Wait!” Kagome said and reached out to the figure. Before Kagome could get close to her the light exploded into sparks and finally disappeared. Kagome sank to the ground and stared at the place where the light once stood.

 

Inuyasha reached out towards her but before he could lay his hand on her shoulder they all started to fade and the darkness got darker.

Everyone sat up and looked around. “I'm guessing you all saw that too?” Miroku said. Everyone nodded. “So the dream was real.”

 

“I wonder what she meant when she said she's losing strength from the battle.” Kagome moved the blanket off of her.

 

“I don't know. We don't even know who she is.” Miroku said. “She said you were hiding something while you were in your sleep. Any idea what it is?”

 

“No, Kaede-sama said something like that too.” Kagome said. “I'll talk to her in the morning. She must know something...”

 

“If she doesn't tell you we'll make her!” Inuyasha cracked his knuckles.

 

“You will not!” Kagome slapped his hands.

 

“Well, well seems like Kagome's got the upper hand in your relationship.” Miroku smirked lecherously.

 

“Shut up bouzo, Sango is boss in your relationship.” Inuyasha snorted.

 

“I assure you...” Miroku began saying until he got an evil glare from Sango. “...That Sango is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.”

 

“Nice save monk.” Inuyasha chuckled.

 

“Inuyasha!” Kagome shouted.

 

“Is it time for breakfast?” Shippo asked as he sat up rubbing his eyes. He was still half asleep.

 

“I'm sorry for waking you Shippo. It's not time for breakfast.” Kagome scooted over to where he was and held him in her lap. “Go back to sleep.”

 

“Alright.” Shippo closed his eyes. “Good ni...”

 

“That runt is lazy. He fell asleep in less than two seconds.” Inuyasha said.

 

“He's growing. He needs his rest.” Kagome defended the sleeping kitsune. She brushed his bangs back and laid him on the futon beside her.

 

“I think we should all take Shippo's advice and go to sleep...again.” Sango said.

 

“Great idea Sango.” Miroku said.

 

They all laid down on the futons except for Inuyasha. “Aren't you going to sleep?” Kagome asked as she laid down next to Shippo. She laid on her side and wrapped an arm around him.

 

Inuyasha moved towards her and laid down beside her. He wrapped an arm around her and nuzzled the back of her neck. “Just go to sleep. Don't worry about me.” He said.

 

“Are you sure?” Kagome asked. “None of us have gotten any sleep tonight.”

 

“I'll be fine. I don't need as much sleep as humans remember?” Inuyasha said as he pulled her closer.

 

“Not as much, but you still need some.” Kagome said.

 

“Just go to sleep.” Inuyasha nipped her neck.

 

“H-Hai.” Kagome tucked her head down as she blushed.

 

Inuyasha smirked and held her as she fell asleep.
