“What are you doing here?” Kikyo asked. Kagome looked from InuYasha to Kikyo’s fuming form. Pretending no to just notice her Kagome said, “Oh hey pot-zilla what’s up?” Kagome smirked when she saw that thinking look come across Kikyo’s face. Kikyo tried to think what a ‘pot-zilla’ was, but came out with nothing.
“K-Kagome, what are you-” InuYasha chocked out. Said person looked back to him and squeezed him harder. “Silence.” Kagome glared at him, sending a chill down his spine. “Come now Kagome, let us not use violence, how about we talk this out?” Miroku asked. “Stay out of this, Monk! This doesn’t concern you.” Kagome said.
“She’s right,” said Kikyo. Kagome and InuYasha both looked at her and Kagome raised an eyebrow at her. “This concerns InuYasha and I,” Kikyo began, “but now the tables have turned, you’re the dead one now, and I’m alive! Oh thanks for your soul by the way, it was really refreshing.” Kikyo finished with an evil grin. You could see the vein on Kagome’s head just about to pop. Her youki spiked out in anger, every one shuddering from the amount of power. Her grip on InuYasha tightened so hard that her claws had seeped into his skin and was starting to draw blood.
“Oh, I see I’ve struck a nerve. You really are a fool, you know. Didn’t you think your death was proof that you couldn’t be here? It’s obvious to all of us that you died because of your weakness, and your stupidity.” Kikyo kept talking down to her. All while Kagome’s grip on InuYasha turned stronger and stronger until he thought his neck would snap in half. He couldn’t stay quiet like she bid him to.
“K-Kagome, cant b-breathe…” InuYasha gasped out. That vein on her head was just about to pop at any second now. She barely paid any attention to the man gasping for air in her hold. “I said to be silent!” Kagome yelled at him. InuYasha made a noise between a groan and a whimper. With an exasperated sigh Kagome threw him against the tree she came from. He slumped down to the base of the tree.
“Shut up,” Kagome whispered.
“What?”
“I said shut up!” Kagome screeched. “Yes I did die, but I was revived right after my death, so my flesh is still real, unlike you, you’re just a clay body with a beating heart, you are no human, priestess, or being! You are just half of what you were!” Kagome’s face was a fresh pink after her rant.
Sango stood up and moved behind Miroku and she clutched his robe. He looked down to her, but she didn’t make eye contact, her vision was stuck to what she thought was her friend. Kikyo clenched her fists, her face etched in rage. She reached for her bow and arrow, and pointed an arrow at Kagome.
“Silence, you abomination! Beings such as yourself have no right to treat me as so!” Kikyo yelled. She let go of the arrow as it was heading straight for Kagome, between the eyes.
A flash of pink and green caught Kagome’s eye as Sango screamed when the arrow sunk into her shoulder. Sango had jumped in front of Kagome when she was able to dodge it. Kagome’s eyes widened as Sango fell to her knees. “Sango are you okay?!” Kagome asked as she put her hand on her shoulder and was looking at her wound. Sango raised her head to look at Kagome.
“Ka…go…me be-hind..y-” Sango stopped as she saw the tip of Kikyo’s next arrow tapped Kagome in the skull, calling her attention. Sango’s eyes closed as she slumped herself against Kagome’s shoulder, indicating that she passed out.
Kagome put one arm around her as she turned her head to face Kikyo’s angry expression.
“I will not be made a fool of!” She yelled. “Don’t do this Kikyo!” Miroku yelled from behind her. He was kneeling and trying to get InuYasha to wake up.
“Do it, try me, see if you can kill me,” Kagome said flatly.
Kikyo growled as best as her fake self could.
“Die you filthy half-breed!” She was about to shoot her arrow when a hand caught her wrist.
“No! Please don’t hurt Kagome!” It was Shippo. Kikyo looked from Shippo, to Kagome, and back to Shippo. Taking the arrow away from Kagome’s head she threw it on the ground and said, “Fine, I’ll let you go, for now.” and walked away. Kagome turned back to Sango and gripped the arrow protruding from her shoulder, her kimono covered in blood where she was hit. “Okay Sango, this will only hurt for a second.” Kagome said. Kagome ripped it from her shoulder and Sango jolted back awake. Sango hissed in pain and grabbed her shoulder. Kagome chanted words softly and soon the pain subsided from her shoulder and healed.
Kagome stood up and walked to the tree where InuYasha was slumped against. She kicked him in the side and said, “Get up.”
She kicked him a few more times until his eyes fluttered open.
“Get up,” she said again. He retaliated with, “Why should I? how do we know you’re the real Kagome? The Kagome I knew is long gone dead.” Kagome sweat dropped. Was he always this dense? For the entire event he had been calling her, her name. was it possible that he forgot?
Kagome smirked and said, “Well why don’t you sit up so we can-” she would have continued, if not for the loud crash that sounded when InuYasha went face first into the ground.
“Yeah that’s the real Kagome,” Miroku thought, looking down at him.
“InuYasha, you’re an idiot.” Shippo said. InuYasha growled from where he was on the ground. Kagome felt as if she was being hugged from behind. She turned her head slightly to find Sango hugging her from behind, while sobbing into her kimono.
“Kagome, I missed you so much!” She sobbed. Kagome turned around and returned the hug. “Lady Kagome, what happened to you?” Miroku asked. “Well I thought InuYasha would have told you,” Kagome replied. Miroku looked down to InuYasha, he was now sitting on the ground with a scowl on his face, trying to ignore the conversation. He looked back to Kagome, “Well he didn’t really say much kind of…”
“Figures,” Kagome thought. She then retold what happened that day two years ago and beyond, minus the Sesshomaru part, she would tell them that a little later when it was necessary. They all listened quietly, their emotions playing on their faces like movies. When she was done Sango was enraged.
She ran to InuYasha and tackled him, grasping his neck, attempting to choke him. Sango screamed at his face, his ears pinning to his skull. Kagome also had to lower her ears some, since she was really loud.
“You liar! Liar! Liar! LIAR! How could you do that, to Kagome? Why? Why did you say that? Why did you lie to us? Don’t you trust us anymore? Your friends?” She cried out. Kagome walked up behind her and out her hand on her back.
“Oh Sango,” Kagome said quietly. “Sango its okay. It couldn’t be helped. It was his decision to go look for his artificial girlfriend. It was his decision to be with her. InuYasha were you happy? Let me ask you this, were you happy when Kikyo was brought back to life? I did it, just for you, you know. I did it so you two could be together, are you happy? Happy that I died?” Kagome started out strong, but ended it softly. Sango loosened her hold on InuYasha and she got off of him. She looked at Kagome, trying to read her emotions, but Kagome hid them well.
“I’m going to sleep.” Kagome said as she jumped into a nearby tree. Sango, Miroku, and Shippo all went to do the same. InuYasha was still there, on the ground from getting tackled by Sango. What was happening? Why was this happening? How was he going to be able to deal with this? Would Kagome be a friend or a foe to them? To everyone besides Kikyo and himself, she was a friend. Would she ever feel that way about him again, or will she seek out his life? He sat there for most of the night thinking until, he too, fell asleep, his last lingering thoughts about Kagome.
