`Inuyasha has made his revenge known to me. This morning a dream woke me up, a dream that I can change everything and start over again. The dream would not leave me so I decided to go and see if it wasn't just a dream; can I go back and change everything and right all the wrongs. I did go back to the feudal era and though winter is just on the verge of ending there I noticed that the sacred tree was in full bloom, I don't know how the tree was in it's condition, but there they were…Hotaru and Inuyasha…they were to my horror… making love, Hotaru looked so beautiful and Inuyasha…he was magnificent…just like I knew he would be. I felt jealous of my own daughter…because she has now what I wanted so desperately back then. No I take it back; she has what I wanted even up til now. I love my husband Miroku…it took all this trouble with Hotaru and her school to make me realize this…it took hurting him to realize that I love him, but, I still regret hurting Inuyasha. But what I regret most of all is that all this time, since I've had those dreams while pregnant that I hated and envied my daughter. While I loved her I hated her as well. How can I, her mother feel that way toward my own flesh. I tried so hard to push it from me, but, when I saw the visions of my dreams coming true I felt it all over again, the deep hate for my daughter mixed with the deep love I have for her.
What hurts the most is that he actually said the words that I've so long to hear eighteen years ago and he marked her. I wished when I saw it that it was me, that it was me even for a moment in his arms, to know his touch, I've wanted it for so long…could taste it almost every time I laid down with my husband only to feel the deep void of my loss when I opened my eyes and realized it wasn't Inuyasha.
I'm sorry Inuyasha for the pain I caused you, now I know how you felt when I slept with Miroku that day, that day by the well…'
Hotaru's heart was thumping in her chest; the tears that hung to the corners of her eyes were now falling freely. Did Inuyasha betray her, used her to have his vengeance against her mother? Everything started to fall into place. Her mother tried to kill her because she already had visions of her being with Inuyasha. Her mother saw her dreams come to reality so…what does that mean? Her mother said she loved and hated her, so does that mean that her mothers' hate wins out? And Inuyasha; does he truly love her or was it all deceit?
“It seems that we've been made the fool again. And this time, I fell for it! I will not have it. I will punish…”
“Shut up Hitomi, shut up! Inuyasha…he loves me…he wouldn't have…no…he loves me.”
Hotaru clamped her hands over her head; her heart was breaking into thousands of pieces that could never be put back together. Why? Why was fate doing this to her. Everything she touched seemed to burn up right there in her hands. She felt hollow as she pulled out of bed, she had to see him. She had to ask him if he truly felt that way, if he feels that way now. If he truly loves her she could give up her parents, yes just like her mother she could give up her life in the future Japan, it wasn't as if she really had anything there for her anyway. Now that her mother knows that she had sex with the guy she loves, what use did she have for her daughter, someone she wanted to not exist anyway. What about her father? No, as much as she loves him, she would only continue to bring him pain. Besides he's so preoccupied with her mothers happiness he'd have no room for her.
She opened the door and weakly walked down the hall and made a couple of turns trying to tune into her mind to find her beloved Inuyasha.
`He loves me, he has too. If he…oh god…please…'
She heard his voice and hurried in that direction only to catch what he was saying.
“Hotaru was a tool to obtain my revenge against them I didn't care if it hurt her she was just the means to get back at them, back at Kagome for betraying me…”
The last shard of her heart exploded causing her to lose herself. She couldn't move, as much as she willed her feet to take one step she couldn't budge. Flash backs of everything that she's been through this past winter with Inuyasha flashed through her head like subliminal messages. Why didn't she see it, he hated her, loathed her from the very beginning, why didn't she see through his ploy. `Damn him damn them all, I hate them all!' Without conscience thought her hand floated to her neckline and caressed the tattooed marking all the way down to the first gift he's ever given her. Using Hitomi's power she channeled her dark ki to her hands and broke the beads. She stood there looking at the polished beads fall to the floor only to break and with each sound of the crash that reached her ears she felt her heart dissolved to nothingness. “Hitomi…you win.” She whispered softly out loud. Her hand slack she dropped the rest of the necklace as she submerged deeper within her own soul and become one with Hitomi. Now floating in the air her hair blowing wildly around her body due to her powers raging, her eyes hollowed out showing a medium shade of purple as her tears trailed down her heart broken etched face like two narrow waterfalls the miko approached Inuyasha.
“I loved you Inuyasha, I believed you.”
“Hotaru…it's not what you think…I do love you.”
“Shut Up! Don't you dare lie to me anymore!”
Her voice was thunderous to their ears and the castle began to shake. Inuyasha slowly approached her but she held her hands out in front of her gathering her powers to destroy him.
“Die Inuyasha.”
She blasted at him and both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru dodged out of the way but not fast enough they both flew to opposite ends of the hall with the impact that hit the floor. Hotaru saw him sprawled out and her eyes immediately came back and she ran to him against her will. She picked up his head and began to cradle it. Hotaru spoke.
“How could you…why?...”
Then Hitomi answered her looking at Inuyasha daggers.
“It's because of our mother stupid, she's the reason, she hates us, she wants us dead. Leave him, we can come back for him later but first let's get her. Make her pay first because it all started with her.”
“No…no…I can't…”
“Your so damn stupid Hotaru, You lost! Don't you get it these people all deserve to die, I could do it, let me do it. You know what I'll just take care of it all right now!”
Sesshomaru watched in fascinated horror as he watched both of them use the same body to speak to each other out loud. He noticed Inuyasha was knocked out being that most of the blast was directed toward him. He saw the woman child drop his head unceremoniously, stand and began to leave the fortress by destroying several walls in the process.

Kagome climbed up the temple steps she was determined to go and finish the task at hand. She walked to the man made water fall where she would cleanse herself and meditate before going down the well. She needed to make sure that her mind was totally clear, but more importantly she had to make sure her heart was pure.
`I love Inuyasha, but, obviously, the fates were not with me. I love Miroku, he is my husband. And I must find a way to make him understand that I love him, I must purify myself because all of this would have never happened had I only had a pure heart to begin with.'
She lifted her face up toward the water and let it wash away all of her sins. Mentally, she traveled back into time where she first fell down the well. Yes, it was necessary; the fates had wanted her there. All this was supposed to happen, all this heartache, all this drama. She had to give back to Inuyasha what Kikyo took from him, whether it was her fault or not. Kagome had to trust in Inuyasha implicitly. That was her job. It was fate that introduced her to Miroku, fate that brought Shippo into their lives the way he did. And Sango…yes, she was fated to her destiny as well.
`I needed to give Inuyasha a place in this world. My job was to give him that. Give him friends, give him heart, give him a family. Miroku's job was to give him male companionship, a best friend, male comradity; Shippo's job was to give him a sense of responsibility and maturity. To be the older brother or father figure and Sango's job was to give him the sense of warrior loyalty. Yes, those were our jobs. The shikon jewel was supposed to be given to someone pure of heart to make a responsible wish upon it. Kikyo, the first bearer of the shikon already entrusted Inuyasha with that task and the mission failed, so, it set out again in me so that Inuyasha could finish the task, but, that too failed when the shikon was taken in by Miroku…and so…it comes again and this time I will not fail.'
She pulled herself out of the water and put on the robes of a priestess. Yes, this was going to be the final battle, the hardest battle anyone would ever have to fight. She pulled into the well house and saw Miroku standing there waiting for her with a flash light turned on as she opened the door. He was dressed in his robes and had the look of determination in his eye.
A bit startled Kagome looked at him questioningly.
“My lady, you wonder how it is that I knew you to come this way? The hospital called and said you left without doctor's permission. I've read your journals before they wound up missing, and I've been deeply meditating on all that you've said times past. You kept talking about a battle and obviously, this fight takes place with our daughter in Fuedal Japan. Inuyasha has come and told me of her dual personality. You knew it all along didn't you? When you tried to drown our daughter in the bath, it wasn't Hotaru you were trying to rid of, but the one named Hitomi correct?”
A hard look happened in Kagome's eye. Not out of anger, hate, but of determination. She nodded her head in the affirmative but she had to tell him the truth and all of it.
“You are right Miroku; however, you're wrong on one count. A part of me wanted Hotaru dead. We both know why, but, I was not in the right mind set. I truly love my daughter and that is why I need to go back there and make it right. She's losing herself and if she does…help us all if Hitomi wins.”
“I have one question to ask you Kagome, what did you mean when you said that Hotaru belongs to Inuyasha?”
Kagome reached out and gently touched her husband's face and he leaned into it automatically.
“Miroku…I meant exactly what I said. She was destined to be his, she was meant for him and…and I know that now in my heart…the same way I was destined to be yours. We were meant to create our daughter. Everything is as it should be. We all had a role to play in Inuyasha's life, just so that when the time came he can make the perfect wish.”
Miroku smiled sadly with a hint of hope. Almost breathless he had to ask her.
“So what are you saying to me Kagome?”
“That I truly love you, I'm not saying this so that you could remain with me, I… I think that this is going to be my last battle, my adventure is going to end really soon now. I want to make sure that before I go to hell, that I have everything squared away. Miroku, I am so sorry that I've caused you grief and pain. I am so sorry that I was still a selfish girl stuck in the past believing myself of being someone of great importance. I know that in my heart of hearts I love you. Yes, I love Inuyasha but only as my young love, you are the love of my mature heart. The love that would stand through out time, I love you and I hope that you would forgive me so that I can repent. Please Miroku, tell me you understand, tell me you understand it all now. You may never forgive me, but…”
Miroku with tears in his eyes hugged his wife close. In a strong embrace he held her.
“Than I promise Kagome, that I will follow you to hell and make sure that you are never alone again. And if Buddha is merciful maybe I can make you happy in the future if there is a future for us, but, if not in the future, then in another life. I will never hurt you again either, for I love you too.”
With one last kiss they picked up their belongings and jumped into the well, back to the Feudal ages to fulfill their destinies.
------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------
Panting hard the raven haired woman ran toward the bone eaters well. The girl was ready to strike, to take her revenge. She had a purpose an evil one, one that she has been plotting since forever. Though she didn't exactly know what that evil plot was but she was going to start off with her mother. Yes, the one who tried to kill her. She felt the waves of time flowing through her body as if it were a cool refreshing drink she was consuming. Her eyes had turned a pure dark purple so dark it could have been black. She watched as her parents climbed out of the well.
“Long time no see mother, father.”
“Hotaru?”
“No…disa ppointed bitch.”
Kagome gasped and shook her head.
“Where is Inuyasha?”
“Still worried about him mother, still love him do you? Well, don't feel so disappointed, you will see him soon when you are all in hell.
Miroku took a hold of Kagome's shoulder to lend her support for the sheer sound in their daughters' voice could bring pain to any parent.
“So, Hitomi, I take then that you read your mother's journals.”
“Yeah, and what of it, there is nothing in there that I already didn't know, like how she hates not only me, but your precious Hotaru.”
“Hitomi, it was all a misunderstanding your mother…”
However, he was interrupted.
“You're a freakin loser you know that daddy, I mean really what is it going to take for you to understand that she doesn't love you! She doesn't love anyone but herself and her precious Inuyasha!”
Kagome touched Miroku's hand and looked at her daughter sorrowfully.
“It's taken me a long time to realize how much I love Miroku, I am here to finish what needs to be done, so I will not delay.”
Kagome strung her bow taunt as she watched the girl in front of her rise up off the floor.
“You know what mother? Killing you will be so much sweeter than killing grandmother.”
Kagome's eyes widened with that bit of revelation. She faltered.
“W..what do you mean you killed…”
“That's right, I pushed grandma down the stairs and laughed with every damn bump that she took. Oh, you should have seen it it was priceless.”
Kagome's heart began to burn.
“Why why would you…kill…”
“Because, that little old fart didn't care a damned about me, in fact kept your little indiscretion quiet! Pretending to be ever so nice and so in love with her grandbaby it made me sick! You all make me sick!”
Miroku firmly grabbed Kagome's shoulders and whispered encouragement into her ear.
“Sweetest lady, don't allow her to make your heart feel any anger, remember you need your heart to be pure.”
Kagome lowered her bow and shielded her eyes with her hair.
“Thank you Miroku.”
Tears were in her eyes when she thought about what her mother must've thought before she died.
“Hotaru, your grandmother loved you…she loved you so much. When I tried to drown Hitomi I wasn't in my right mind. I was going crazy. It's true…a part of me wanted you dead so that I could have Inuyasha, but it was ridiculous. Mama brought me to the doctor and had me admitted for awhile, you wondered why I went away and your grandmother took care of you, remember that's when you drew her the picture, the one she framed and hung in her bedroom. Your grandmother loved you enough for me too, when I thought I couldn't…I never told you what she said…”
Hotaru was tears kept falling, this was the hardest thing she had to do in all her life, but she had to get Hotaru back, no matter what even if she had to lie.
“What did she say mama?”
“She said that she loved you more than her own life.”
Hotaru gasped with crystals falling from her eyes.
“Mama!”
“My mother loved you more than she loved herself, more than she loved anybody…because she knew you needed it sweetheart and that is partically my fault and I am here to fix that. Please come here Hotaru, I love you.”
The raven haired beauty grabbed her head and screamed.
“Shut up!!! You make me so damn sick!!!”
“Hitomi stop it, stop it!” Cried Hotaru.
“No, no I will not let this lying slut lie to us, she want's to kill us don't you see, she came here to fight us, but we are far more powerful than she is.”
“No that is not true, Hotaru listen to me…I love you and I came here to help you…help you to be happy…please just listen to me…push Hitomi down, clear your mind.”
Hitomi looked at her mother.
“You damn whore! Shut the fuck up!”
Miroku spoke up now.
“Hotaru, Hitomi is scared; she can't win if you don't let her. Inuyasha has come and spoke to me, my darling; we all want to help you to cleanse yourself.”
“Well, what a reunion we have ourselves here, what in the hell are you doing here? Where the hell do you think you're taking Hotaru?!”
All turned their heads in Inuyasha's direction.
What hurts the most is that he actually said the words that I've so long to hear eighteen years ago and he marked her.
