Inuyasha continued his search throughout the forest until he got a whiff of a trace of her. His head shot up and he smirked Looks like I don't have to wait long after all. He bonded off following the scent to a nearby village. “That girl has got to be here somewhere, I just know it.” He got down on all fours and began to sniff his way.” The villagers gave him weird looks unbeknownst to him.” The men of the village got together to get the demon. The leader stepped up “ Hey you demon, what business do you have in this village. Inuyasha looked up an rolled his eyes “I don't have to answer to you weaklings, I am lord Inuyasha, prince of the western lands, now get out of my way. The men began to tremble. They had head stories of the inu-kingdom of the west but had never seen any of the royalty. They new that if the prince had chose, they could all be slaughtered with a flick of a claw. The same man faultered and backed away “ I'm sorry your grace, please forgive me and my men, we were only trying to protect our families. Inuyasha just feh'd and continued his search. He ended up at a big house that almost looked like a shrine. Inuyasha began to second-guess himself. “Maybe I shouldn't take her back, she did say that she wanted to live out her dream of being a priestess.” Inuyasha slightly shivered, recalling the last relationship he was in. Kikyo was a priestess too. I'm glad I never saw her again. He just stood their looking at the house trying to contemplate. When his ears picked up the word, Kikyo. He crept closer to the house trying listen in to the conversation.

 

 

Kaede took Kagome to the sacred well house where she hid all of her valueable belongings. Kaede reached up on one of the shelves and pulled out a very old box with a lock on it. Kagome just looked on with curiosity as Kaede opened the lock with a chant and pulled out a jewel. This is a jewel called the Shikon no Tama. Kagome's eyes widened in recognition, “My mother used to tell me stories of the jewel but I didn't know that it was real. She told me that it makes demons and evil hearted humans power increase thousands times over and it was protected by a miko. Kaede just smiled “ well at least I don't have to explain that part to you. Yes, it was protected by a miko, and that miko was your mother. Kikyo was my daughter, so I am your grandmother. Kagome felt dizzy all of the new information just made a faint. She passed out.

 

Inuyasha heard the last of the conversation when he heard a thud. He raced in to the well house and was shocked, then mad at the scene before him. “ What did you do to her.” Kaede looked up and gave smirked. You haven't changed Inuyasha. He just looked hard at the old woman, “ You can't be Kikyo's mom you don't seem that evil. Kaede remembered her daughters relationship with the prince well. They were to be married because we thought it was a part of the prophecy but they were a generation off. Kikyo was cold hearted a so was he. Inuyasha at first wanted the power that the jewel could give him, and Kikyo was so lifeless, she wanted to be princess and just escape the life she was bond to by guarding the jewel. Kikyo betrayed Inuyasha with his cousin Onigumo. Inuyasha found out the night before their wedding. He was going to talk to her a try to get to know her. But as soon as he got outside of their rooms he could smell them. He busted in an announced that the wedding was off and that such a slut should be taught manners. Onigumo was disowned and Kikyo was never seen again.

 

Kaede nodded in agreement with Inuyasha while remembering the ways of her child. “I tried to instill in Kikyo the importance of protected the jewel and her image as it's guardian, but I guess I forgot to instill morals also. I wanted her to be the best because I thought that she would be the one to fulfill the prophecy but I'm afraid we were wrong. Kaede pointed to Kagome, this child is the real chosen one. Inuyasha smirked, “ It's funny how fate seems to know what it's doing when we don't even know what it's doing it's gonna go on a track of it's own even when you think your off of that track.” “ I didn't even care about not fulfilling the prophecy when I kicked Kikyo out. I knew it would cause world destruction, but I was stubborn back then, I'm a lot wiser now.” Kaede just thought to herself sure you are. “ Inuyasha, you still haven't answered my question. How is it that you know Kagome? Inuyasha looked up, I was just talking about fate right. Kagome is my betrothed. Kaede looked shocked “ and how did this come about,” She asked? Inuyasha just smirked then frowned, “It was payment for my her fathers dept, he gave away his daughter in exchange for his life. The bastard was so heartless he didn't even wait until she was awake to say goodbye. He just sent her on her way without a word. Kagome was so hurt when she found out” Kaede frowned. “Fate works in mysterious ways and sometimes it can be cruel. I bet you can't even imagine what life would be without your parents. Especially if one dies and another just gives you away life last nights meat.” Inuyasha just shook his head, “no I couldn't imagine it, I wouldn't want to.”

 

Kagome began to stir. Kaede and Inuyasha watched her. She opened one eye and then the other one. Where am I? She looked around and saw Inuyasha and Kaede. She jumped on top to the mat. Her eyes got big and she got frantic “ I am not going back to that castle. Not after embarrassing myself in front of everyone and you, she pointed at him, you didn't even care how you made me look or feel, you just wanted to get your feel. You made me feel like trash.” Kagome broke down and cried on the mat. Inuyasha was hurt at first because of the accusations but after a while understood that they were well place and he felt horrible. Kagome I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I had got caught in the moment. I'm sure you did too but I am to blame for letting it go as far as it did. You didn't make your self look bad because no ones human and everyone has let go once or twice in their life time. My parents do it all the time, they can relate, they don't care really. We're about to be married, we are grown and it is all good in their eyes. I just didn't know it made you feel that way. I will try to restrain myself when ever I'm around you.” Kaede just looked on with a lifted eyebrow in curiosity. Inuyasha continued, “I'm asking that you come back to the castle with me, Sango and Miroku. Kagome's eyes lit up when she heard Sango's name “ She's here too” she asked like a kid on Christmas. Inuyasha just nodded, “Yeah they just got tired and stopped to rest.” But I'm gonna ask you once because I don't want to force you to do something that you don't want to do,” Kagome nodded for him to continue. “I want to know, do you really want to marry me or do you feel forced into it. Kagome had to think about that but then she spoke “But Inuyasha you don't understand, I want to be a miko. If I marry you and we consummate that marriage, I will never have a chance to do that.” This is where Kaede broke in. Actually your powers will only become stronger from such a union, especially because of the prophecy. Kagome looked confused, I thought that you had to be pure mind, body and soul to become a miko. You are pure but it only deals with being pure in your heart spirit and soul. You are pure in all of these categories. The fact that you are the one in the prophecy only means that with your union to your life mate will bring you stronger to complete the tasks ahead to fulfil that prophecy. You know a prophecy is only half of a story. You are the ones who create the story from here on out. Kaede reached into the long forgotten box and pulled out an old scroll it read:

 

The Prophecy:

 

There will be a miko, one of the purest and fairest of the land,

Who will fall into her hanyou's hands, her bethrothed, her mate,

Her love for all time, they shall over come, the darkness of thine,

A cloaked figure in gray that lurks in the dark,

Shall come to light and evil shall start,

But these too people can find a way,

To seal this evil and lock it away

 

 

Kagome smiled in revelation. “So I am the miko and Inuyasha's the hanyou. We were destined to be together?” She looked at Inuyasha and Kaede who only nodded in reply. Well, she looked toward Inuyasha an smiled, “I guess we will be getting married, It was meant to be right?” at that Inuyasha's face faltered, “ Kagome yes it's etched in stone an all but If this isn't what you want to do, no one is forcing you. I'd understand if you did want to marry a lowly half demon like myself.” He hung his head. Kagome walked toward Inuyasha and embraced him. “Better not ever let me catch you talking that way about yourself again. Of course I want to marry you, now even more so because of the prophecy and the fact that my miko powers won't fade. I'd love to marry you Inuyasha looked up and pulled her closer. Their lips were inches apart when Kaede jumped in, AH HM. The couple quickly separated, facing away from each other, both as red as tomatoes. Well I just want to finish explaining the jewel Kikyo left for Kagome to guard. Inuyasha got mad at the mention of Kikyo's name but tried in vain to hide it. Not before Kagome saw the expression, but just stored it away to bring up later.

 

Kaede walked closer to Kagome. “My child,” she held the jewel up. “ You may not have known it, but you have always had miko powers that have protected you even before you could say the word miko. You are a very special child and your powers will far surpass your mothers, who had to walk this journey about a decade and a half ago. You are the true holder of this crystal, and as such you will be trained to use an control the crystal with you miko powers with some training. I will help you with that but know since you have unlocked some of that power on your own you will have to be able to adapt to taping in and out. Because when you were a child It worked on it's own, you now have that power in your hands to turn it off and on when ever you like. You will also need a protector and I am sure Inuyasha fits that description.” She turned to look at him and he gave a small nod. “ she then continued. The demon Naraku is rumored to still be out their and I feel you two should watch your backs. I pray nothing goes wrong in your journey. Good luck.
