Inuyasha carried her back to camp, and immediately everyone crowded around them asking what was wrong and asking if she was okay.

"Back off!" Inuyasha yelled. "She's fine!"

Kagome smiled.

Everyone just watched as he carried her away.

Nevermind camp, I need to take her to Kaede...

"H-hey! Inuyasha! Where're you taking her?!" Shippo yelled, beginning to run after them.

"I'm takin' her to Kaede's, and don't follow me!" He warned.

"Inuyasha..." Kagome began weakly. "Don't be so mean... Shippo's just a little-"

"Boy, I know... But he doesn't need to be following you everywhere you go!" Inuyasha finished.

"He's just worried, that's all..." She said and then coughed.

"Well, right now's not the time to argue..." He told her.

Kagome just sighed and settled in his arms.

"Inuyasha?"

"What is it?"

"What happened to me?" She asked.

He looked down at her surprised.

"Y-you don't remember?" He asked.

She shook her head.

"Y-you... those guys... they-"

"Not that... how did I get my wounds?" She asked.

"Oh... uh... you fell in the creek, and landed on a really sharp rock... it went through you... I took you to the tree and pulled it out, and bandaged it up..." He explained.

"Oh." She simply responded.

She then settled in his arms as he carried her to Kaede's hut.

*1 month later*

"I still feel responsible..."

"Well, don't... those were bandits you had no control over."

"But I did have control over them! If I was only there for her! Hell, Miroku, they stripped her down and were that close to having their way with her..." Inuyasha shook his head.

"Yes, but you got there on time. That's all that really counts, if you ask me." Miroku replied.

"Well it doesn't if you ask me!" With that Inuyasha stomped out of the hut.

Miroku sighed.

Outside was dark... it was late in the night, and Inuyasha was surprised to see Kagome near that stream they were at right before she got injured... and... right before...

Inuyasha clenched his teeth at the thought of it.

She admitted her love for me that day... even after she was violated... I didn't even talk to her about it after that... she deserves something from me... after I let her down like that...

He then approached her.

"Kagome?" He spoke softly so that he wouldn't startle her.

"Oh?" She looked over her shoulder and smiled.

"Inuyasha!" She lightly exclaimed.

Inuyasha smiled and sat down next to her as she dipped her bare feet into the water.

"We haven't talked like this ever since I got out of bed a few weeks ago..." She said.

"Yeah..." He said.

It was almost as if she had forgotten she even admitted her love to him... did she? He didn't want to ask...

There was silence... it was like dejavu...

"Kagome..." He began.

"Yes?" She asked.

He decided not to ask the previous question and asked something else instead.

"How's your wound?"

She lifted her shirt a little bit so that he could see it.

It was still pretty bad looking. The scar was huge and red, and very noticeable.

He lightly ran is hand along it.

"Does that hurt?" He asked.

"Not really... it feels weird when someone touches it, though." She said.

Inuyasha drew his hand back, and she put her shirt back down.

"Thank you..." She suddenly said.

"Huh?"

"Thank you for caring for me..." She responded.

"Mmph..." was his response.

She looked over at him.

She wanted him so badly... to be with her forever...

He looked over and noticed tears in her eyes.

"Huh? What's wrong?" He asked with concern.

"Nothing..." She turned back to look at the creek water.

"Tell me... please..." It was hard for him to say 'please'. He'd never said please for anything...

Kagome looked at him sadly.

"Didn't I already tell you why... before I got my injuries?"

Realization sunk in and he just looked at her.

She turned her head and sighed.

"Don't worry about it, I'm fine..." She assured.

There was another long silence.

Kikyo's dead... Kagome's gone through so much... she needs me so much... but I owe Kikyo... she died for me... and now she wants me to go to Hell with her... but I can't... not with Kagome suffering like this... she's been violated so badly... and the scar is there to make that memory stay with her... and in her eyes... I'm the only one who can help soothe her memories... I don't get it... but... if it's what helps her then I'll do anything I can...

"You don't seem too fine." He murmured in response.

"Well I am..." She replied. "I can accept your answer, Inuyasha..."

Inuyasha just grunted and stood up.

Kagome looked up at him.

"Where're you going?" She asked.

"Back to the hut... we can talk later." He said, walking away.

I'm such an idiot... I can't even bring myself to say anything to her...
