I think this chapter is going to get good. Kagome and Sesshomaru are going to reveal some feelings to themselves that they never knew existed for this person. Kari pays Sesshomaru a visit, wanting to know when he would make her his mate. Kouga pays everyone a visit and someone’s jealous! ^^ Something happens with Midoriko and she talks to Kagome for a short time telling her what Tsubame said. You will have to read to find out more.^^ smirks. I use more Japanese than usual so there will be a longer glossary at the end.

Tsuki: Yeah, Shadow15* is wondering who to pair Kouga and Inuyasha with. It could be original characters but she isn’t sure yet. She’s asking the reviewers for suggestions on that topic. . She could send Inu to hell, but she wants to know what you think. Here’s the next chapter!!

Chapter Ten

Surprises everywhere

Sango ran over to Kagome and hugged her, hoping to calm her anger. “We will find Ryukatsei and the books Kagome-chan. But, right now we need to rest. We will look for him when we have a plan. Do you want to go and check on your parents? I’ll go with you..” she said softly. Kagome was still very tense and didn’t know what she wanted to do. Suddenly a thought came to her. She hasn’t visited her parents and she had a strong impulse to. She had a feeling that something might happen when she goes there.

Kagome glanced at Sango and smiled slightly. “Yeah. Let’s go and see my parents. I want to know if anything changed. I have a feeling that something is going to happen when we get to my parent‘s room. I want to know what I think is going to happen.” Kagome and Sango left the room heading toward her parent’s wing in the huge castle. “This castle is huge, imouto, do you know where your parent’s room is? If not, we will have to ask someone that does.” Sango said in amazement as she looked down the long hallway. Kagome glanced over to Sango and nodded. “I know where it is. I had Rin-chan show me. She knows where almost everything is in this castle.” she softly said and led Sango around in different directions. They came in front of a large door with a sun and a phoenix engraved in it. “We’re here aneue. Let’s go inside.” Kagome said to Sango as she opened the large doors and went inside.

“I think we should leave and go back to our rooms. We can discuss what we should do there. This room isn’t fit for a meeting.” Miroku said in the quiet room. Youko looked at Kentaru, Akira, then at Sesshomaru and nodded his head. “That is a good idea monk. The lords will meet in Sesshomaru’s personal study. You can meet in Kagome’s room. We will talk about our discussions and decide what we are going to do tomorrow.” he said, as the lords walked out of the room.

Inuyasha looked at Miroku and scowled. “Good going, monk. Sesshomaru and the other lords won’t tell us everything. If we want to know everything they said, the girls would probably have to bug Youko about it. He is a total pervert like you. He will tell them everything just to spend time with them.” Inuyasha really did not know what to do. He could spy on them, but Sesshomaru would be expecting that. What if someone else would spy on them and report back? That would be easier than getting caught themselves. “Oi Miroku, Are you thinking what I am?” he asked with a fanged grin.

Miroku glanced over to the smirking Inuyasha and smiled slyly. “Then we will have to get someone to spy for us. Maybe Hiraki will do it?” Inuyasha growled softly. “That kitsune wouldn’t spy on anyone, but Naraku. He totally idolizes Sesshomaru for his ruthless fighting technique. You can see it in his eyes when he talks to him.” he growled louder and walked out of the room heading toward Kagome’s room.

Kagome and Sango walked into Hiro and Midoriko’s room quietly. They knew that they were not sleeping, they were just under a spell that makes them seem to sleep. Kagome walked over to her mother’s bedside and sat down. She picked up her hand and sighed sadly. “She is warm but so cold. I wish that she would fight this spell. I know that she can fight it, I don’t know if she wants to though.” she said dejectedly. Kagome had tears forming in her eyes and she looked away from her mother trying to clear her eyes and calm her feelings.

Sango walked over to Kagome and put a hand on her shoulder. “What do you mean Kagome-chan? How can she be warm but so cold?” she asked confusedly. Kagome looked at Sango with sad eyes. “What I mean Is that her body is warm but her soul feels so cold because of the spell. It feels like Kikyo’s soul before she was put to rest.” she softly said. Sango stopped in her tracks. She knew what that felt like. Kohaku felt the same to her. She could sense some things, but she couldn’t sense anything that had to do with Inutaisho, Mira, Hiro, and Midoriko. Their auras were too strong for her to pick through them searching for emotions.

Kagome saw that Sango was lost in bad memories. Don’t think about the things in the past aneue think of the things that you can do for Kohaku. I know that we can save him, we have to free Sesshomaru’ parents and my own.” she said and gave her a hug. Midoriko stirred on the bed and reached out to hold Kagome’s hand. “My aijou my dear dear aijou. I have broken the spell for the time being. I broke the spell for only a short while because the caster is now dead. Tsubame came to me in my dreams and said that the counter spell along with the love of our children will break the spell. Don’t forget my little Kagome, when you cast the spell, put all of your feelings for us with it.” Midoriko whispered then fell unconscious again.

Kagome turned around quickly and picked up her mother’s hand. “Okaasan! Please wake up. I need to know what you meant! I know that I love you, but how will Inuyasha and Sesshomaru show that they love their parents? How can we break the spell if they don’t show their love for them?” she whispered brokenly. Sango looked at her with soft eyes. “We need to tell everyone what we found out imouto. What we learned is very important and Sesshomaru and Inuyasha need to know because when we find the books and the ingredients, they will cast the spell.” she said and walked toward the door. Kagome put her mother’s hand down then covered her up. She went to her father’s bedside and brushed back his bangs. “I will find the things that we need for the counter spell otusan. I will make sure no one tries to stop me.” Kagome said softly and walked out of the room.

Sesshomaru turned toward the door and frowned. Youko looked at him with curiosity. “What is wrong, Sesshomaru? You aren’t even listening!” Sesshomaru looked at him with disgust in his eyes. “It’s Kari. She’s in my castle.” he said coldly. Kentaru, Akira and Youko gaped at what they heard. Kari was the nastiest female youkai that they knew. She reeked of men and ashes. She tried to sleep with all of the lords but they detested her. “Maybe you can get Kagome to ward Kari off? She would humiliate her if she acted like your mate. Kari would probably run off crying to her father.” Youko said suggestively. He nodded and everyone left the room.

Kagome was walking briskly down the hallways with Sango looking for the lords. She turned the corner and bumped into Youko. He caught her before she fell and looked at her surprised. “What’s the rush? Why are you rushing down the halls?” he asked curiously. Kagome looked at him tearfully. “My mother broke the spell for a short while. She says that the spell needs to include the love of the children to their parents or it won’t work. We need to tell Sesshomaru and Inuyasha to suck up their pride so they can help me make this spell work!” she said breathlessly. Akira, Youko and Kentaru were astonished. Midoriko broke the spell for a short time!? In order for the spell to work, the most prideful youkai have to admit that they love their parents?!! This will take a lot of convincing.

“Hayaku! We need to tell Sesshomaru and Inuyasha right away. Sesshomaru is looking for you Kagome, he is most likely going to your room.” Kentaru said and started to walk toward her room. The rest of the group followed, hoping that they did not have to look all over the castle for Sesshomaru and Inuyasha.

Sesshomaru would do anything for the time being to make Kari leave. He walked out of his study and looked for Kagome. Kagome was walking toward her room because she smelled Miroku, Inuyasha Hiraki, and Shippo there. Sesshomaru met her at the door. Kagome looked over to him and asked if he knew where Inuyasha was. Can you please get him? I need to speak to both of you. “ Sesshomaru shook his head and said coolly “He is on the other side of this door. He will hear everything that we say.” Kagome nodded and told him what she learned from her mother in the few seconds that she had to talk with her. Sesshomaru was eerily quiet and didn’t share what he felt knowing that he had to show his love for his parents to have the spell work.

Inuyasha was stock still when he heard that he had to show his love for his father for the spell to work. ‘I haven’t seen him for so long, how am I supposed to show love for him that doesn’t exist right now?’ he wondered. Hiraki and Miroku looked at him worriedly. “What is wrong, Inuyasha?” Miroku asked his unusually silent friend. He looked at him and scowled. “Nothing’s wrong, monk. I’m just thinking.” he said gruffly. Somehow, both Hiraki and Miroku thought that something was wrong, he just didn’t want to tell them. They left the question at that and continued their discussion.

“Why are you looking for me, Sesshomaru?” she asked in wonder. “I need you to act like you are my fiancée. There is a female youkai in my castle that is trying to mate me. This will only last as long as she is here.” he said coolly. Kagome’s eyes widened in amazement. ‘He wants me to act like his mate? I thought that he hated me because I was a former human..’

“I will do this, but I am only doing this to not have more time wasted that isn‘t necessary.” Kagome said as she looked up to Sesshomaru. He was relieved and nodded his head in agreement. He reached into his haori and handed her a bracelet that was lavishly decorated with crescent jewels. “Wear this. It would prove that you are my mate to be.“ he said softly. Kari wouldn’t bother him with Kagome by his side. Inuyasha was sitting by the door and heard the whole thing. He opened the door and yelled at Kagome angrily. “What the hell are you thinking, Kagome? You can’t act like Sesshomaru’s fiancée! Kari will spread the word that you are his mate to be and all of the lesser lords will expect him to be mated soon.” he said with a snarl.

“That won’t happen Inuyasha. I will make sure of it.” Kagome said confidently. “We need to go to the ballroom so we can meet our guest.” Sesshomaru said with sarcasm. The group walked to the ballroom and were greeted with a surprise. A female ookami youkai that looked a lot like Ayame was pacing around the room saying “Where’s Sesshy? He needs to come and greet his future mate properly. Tell him to come and meet me now!!” she said to the shaking servant.

“My name is not Sesshy. There is no need for someone to get me Kari. I am already here. You have been too busy yelling to notice me.” Sesshomaru said coldly to her. Kari looked over to him and narrowed her eyes at the female youkai that had her arm around Sesshomaru’s. “And who is this, Sesshy? Does she know that we are mates to be? She needs to get away from you.” Kari said with jealousy. Kagome looked at her with superiority. “I am Kagome and I am his mate to be. You can’t call him Sesshy so get out of that habit. You aren’t his fiancée and he doesn’t want you to be. You can just go home and talk to your father to get you another mate to be.“ she said as she showed Kari her bracelet.

Kari’s eyes widened and she scowled at Kagome. “There is no way that you can be Sesshomaru’s mate to be. You aren’t even royalty!” she yelled angrily. Kagome looked at her and lifted her bangs, showing her the sun on her forehead. “I am the princess of the eastern lands. I am his mate to be because I was betrothed to him when we were little.” Kari looked to Sesshomaru for confirmation. He nodded slightly and her eyes watered. “You were supposed to be my mate! Not that whores!” she cried. Sesshomaru growled at her with anger. He came up to her and held her up by the throat. “Don’t ever call my fiancée a whore. You are not welcome here so go now before I decide to kill you and risk war with the central lands.” he snarled.

He let her go and she ran out the door. Youko and Kentaru were laughing hard. “You really showed her. She probably won’t even come back.” Akira looked at Youko and shook his head. “I can’t believe that Sesshomaru even went through with this.” The ballroom doors blew open and a twister appeared. “What in the hell is that?” Hiraki yelled trying not to cough. The twister cleared and Kouga stepped out of the falling dust. He ran over to Kagome and picked up her hands. “Hello Kagome. Are you ready to be my woman yet?” he asked as he ignored everyone in the room.

“You stupid mangy wolf! Who told you that we were here?” Inuyasha yelled angrily. Kagome sweat dropped. “Kouga-kun, I’m not your woman. I can’t be your woman and I am trying to find rare ingredients, and spell books to help my parents.” Kouga looked at her more closely and gasped. “How are you youkai, Kagome? You can finally be my woman!” he declared. Kagome didn’t get the chance to answer because Sesshomaru had Kouga by the neck. “You dare trespass on my lands, ookami? You should be in the northern lands. We are talking about important matters that don’t concern you.” he said with a sneer. He delivered and ultimatum to Kouga. “Leave now or die by my hands.” Kouga didn’t want to lose the chance to have Kagome as his mate so he left saying “You stupid mutts!”

“It is late. We should retire for the night and start looking for Ryukatsei first thing in the morning.” Sesshomaru said and walked toward the door. Everyone agreed reluctantly and went to their rooms.

Sesshomaru’s POV

‘You should make Kagome your real mate, not just pretend that you want to.’ a voice said in Sesshomaru’s head. *Who are you? I don’t want to make her my mate!* ‘I’m your emotions that you never thought you had. Sure, I don’t believe you. You know that you have feelings for her. Why don’t you tell her?’ *Are you ever going to give up? he asked irritably.* ‘nope. I’m not going to give up until you admit that you have feelings for Kagome.’ *I like her as a friend. I don‘t know If I like her as a potential lover. Will you leave me alone now!* ‘I’ll leave you alone for right now. You have to tell her sooner or later! The voice said loudly. After a while he couldn’t hear any voice talking to him. “I can’t believe I said that just to get that voice to stop.” he said irritably. He walked over to his bed and lied down. He closed his eyes trying to fall asleep. He fell asleep twenty minutes later thinking about Kagome.

Kagome’s POV

-I can’t believe I actually agreed to act like Sesshomaru’s mate! He actually asked me to act like his mate when he could have asked another to.- Well, you like him. Why wouldn’t you agree to act like his mate? He is much better than Inuyasha. He at least treats you like a person. Kagome knew who this voice was. It was her voice of reason and emotions. -I don’t like Sesshomaru, I like Inuyasha! He really doesn’t treat anyone like a person except Rin.- You know that Inuyasha will always want the clay pot. You could try to make him forget about her, and If it doesn’t work out with him, you can always be with Sesshomaru. Have you noticed that he doesn‘t treat you the way Inuyasha does? He also is doesn‘t care that we are around him. He’s not as cold and emotionless to us and that is a sign to me that he likes us.

-I’m not even going to have this conversation with you. I like him alright! I just don’t know if it is more like a friend or a potential boyfriend. - the voice laughed and said I told you so! You like him and you should tell him!!! Kagome was so annoyed and didn’t answer back. She decided to get some sleep instead of staying up all night talking to herself. She snuggled into the bed and cuddled up to Shippo. She fell asleep five minutes later thinking of Sesshomaru.

Shadow15*: Whew! This chapter was pretty long! I typed six and a half pages and found it hard to stop where I wanted to. At least I didn’t leave a cliffy this time. I like the idea that Sess and Kag are thinking of each other, but I'm not going to rush tings. Kouga will make a more appearances before they get together. Other things are going to happen before they get together finally. I loved the idea of Kagome scaring Kari and making her cry. That was so fun!! Okay I’ve gotten a couple of emails that ask if I hate Izayoi. I don’t hate her, I just dislike her. I like Sesshomaru’s mother better than her. I just wrote her like this to fit my story. I don’t like her or hate her.

I hope that you liked this chapter. Youko will have fun making Sesshomaru jealous really soon!! I’m thinking how to end the story and I’m not too sure how I am going to.
