Chapter Fourteen

Reunion

Naraku’s POV

Naraku was contemplating what his next move against the Inu-Tachi would be. ‘Where is that dreaded detachment of mine? I have a job for her to do.’ He stopped and felt for Kagura’s aura but he couldn’t find it. ‘Kanna! Come here. I need you to find Kagura with your mirror.’ Kanna appeared in the dark corner of the room with her mirror showing Kagura sitting in Sesshoumaru’s gardens discussing their next attack on Naraku with Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha. ‘So you have betrayed me Kagura? I will let you know that I know of your betrayal, but I will not dispose of you yet you still have use.’ He took a red pulsing orb out of his haori and squeezed it enough to cause Kagura a lot of pain. He smirked in pleasure as he watched his incarnation cry out in pain.

‘She has taken the ingredients like I thought she would…Kagura, I knew you would do this…you want to be free from me and will do anything to accomplish it.’

Kagura’s POV

‘Has Naraku found out that I betrayed him? He should have been back by now wherever he went to…Kanna…I will free us from that bastard!’ She felt a little tired then she collapsed, clutching her chest in pain. Sango and Miroku thought this was unusual because they were just discussing something not even five minutes ago. “What’s wrong Kagura?” Miroku asked as he helped her up. He held her against him and waited for an answer as the others looked at her as well. She gasped for breath and continued to clutch at her chest. “….Damn you Naraku….I will be free!” Their eyes widened in surprise. “So Naraku knows you’re here and he’s not destroying you? Does he have another plan?”

Miroku asked. Kagura shook her head. “I don’t know monk. He doesn’t tell me anything. I’m not going to complain about being alive either. When I decided to bring the ingredients for that spell that you need to cast, Naraku went to see someone but I don‘t know who. Kanna was no where in the castle as well. He could be planning something with that person…” She pushed away from him not wanting to be near him any longer. Sango sighed and looked up at the sunny sky. “We should go and tell everyone else that Naraku knows that Kagura betrayed him and that we should get Kagome’s and your parents back very soon Inuyasha. You three have to perform that spell.”

Miroku nodded his head in agreement. “That is the best thing to do right now. Let’s hurry now, we don’t know what Naraku could be planning.” They hurried toward the castle in search of everyone. They reached the ballroom and found Kagome, Sesshoumaru, and Kentaru talking about something serious because Kagome didn’t have her usual happy look on her face. Sango walked up to Kagome when she leaned against the wall.

Kagome’s POV

“What’s wrong imouto? Is something going on?” Kagome looked at Sango seriously. “Something’s up. Three palace guards are dead and we don’t know who did it. The attacker’s scent was masked very well and It’s not in any of Naraku’s known detachment’s style of killing. “We don’t know what he’s going to do next. We don’t even know if he’s got another detachment or if he made more than one….We have to perform that spell soon. We don’t need Naraku finding something out that he isn’t supposed to. Acting quickly is the best thing right now….we need to stop Naraku….He can’t get the Shikon….” Her voice faded off as she looked over to Sesshoumaru and Kentaru .

“Why are you all here? Do you have some news?” she asked curiously. Sango nodded. “Naraku knows Kagura is here with us and that she betrayed him. He squeezed her heart hard enough for her to be in enough pain to collapse and be unable to speak for a while. When Kagura gathered the items and brought them to us, Naraku was no where in his castle. He was visiting someone that he could be planning something with. Kanna was no where in the castle as well.”

“This isn’t good. It would have been better for him to find this out at the last possible time but not now. We could have used Kagura against him because it would have been a surprise….”

“Keh. Not really wench. You know Kagura hates that bastard. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was expecting her to betray him.”

“You’re actually thinking with your head now Inuyasha. This is surprising I guess there’s a first time for everything.” Miroku joked.

Inuyasha growled at him. “Shut up monk.” Miroku smiled and backed up a little behind Sango. “You have a point though. It wouldn’t be surprising if Naraku was expecting Kagura to betray him.” Kentaru and Sesshoumaru walked over to the group. “So Naraku knows that Kagura has betrayed him? He also has visited someone that he could be planning with? Sesshoumaru, Kagome, Inuyasha, we need you to perform that spell tonight.” The three nodded their heads.

“So have you gotten anything else on the killings of those three castle guards? If that bastard created another detachment, I want the first crack at it!” Inuyasha asked Sesshoumaru and Kentaru. “No we haven’t got anything but what Kagome told you. If he has created another detachment, we have another foe to defeat…” Kentaru answered.

“We can’t let Naraku strengthen his forces any longer. We need to perform that spell. We need our parents back! Let’s prepare, we have three hours until sundown.” Kagome looked at the group and then out the window. “That should be enough time to prepare everything.” Sesshoumaru nodded slightly and walked out of the room seeking Miaka, hoping that she would know more about this spell. Kagome walked out of the room after him, and walked to the gardens wanting a moment of peace.

Sesshoumaru’s POV

‘Miaka might know more about this spell. I want to know more about it….What else do we have to do but recite the spell and give the potion to our parents? I feel there’s something more to this…’

Miaka was busily working on her latest patient. She had a high fever and a cough. Miaka could tell that she was also healing from an attack on her group that was sent by the Northern Army because she had the uniform of the and the seal as well.

Miaka’s POV

She noticed that her patient was awake. What happened to you? What is you’re name?” She put down the bandages and looked at her face. The woman was very beautiful. She had shoulder length blue hair with black streaks, green eyes, blue cat ears tipped in black, and a blue tail tipped in black and silver. The woman sighed softly. “My name is Tsuki. My group and I were attacked by this ryu youkai and hundreds of other lesser youkai. We destroyed many of the demon, they were very weak compared to the ones we were used to fighting. Then the dragon attacked and we couldn’t hold him off for long. Before I blacked out, I looked around and found Toshiro fighting the huge dragon with everything he had. Everyone else was dead. I saw him fall, and the dragon charge him. That’s the last I saw of him” her eyes filled with tears.

Miaka could see that he meant something to her but didn’t know what. “What does he mean to you? Is he you’re mate?” Tsuki’s eye’s widened “Not yet. He is my mate-to-be. I have to find him!” Miaka nodded her head in agreement. “Lord Kentaru is here at the castle. Maybe he can tell us who the dragon you were fighting is.”

Sesshoumaru’s POV

He went down to the medical ward and looked around.. He couldn‘t find a trace of her but her scent was strong in the room. ‘She was here recently…She might be in her personal ward tending to her patients….I know she tends to her patients there when they get in severely ill health.’

He sighed and started to walk towards the northern side of the castle. Just as he was turning the corner that lead to the ballroom, he collided into Miaka and a female neko youkai he didn’t recognize. Miaka fell down and looked up sheepishly, wondering who she ran into.

“Oomph. Lord Sesshoumaru, I didn’t see you there. Gomen nasai.” Tsuki walked over to Miaka and helped her up. “Watch where you’re going Miaka. I have something to ask you. Alone.” She nodded her head. “First, Tsuki has something to ask you.”

“Lord Sesshoumaru, do you know anything about a huge black dragon that is very powerful? He was battling my group and the only ones left were me and my fiancé Toshiro. The dragon was with hundreds of lesser demons. We took them out easily but the dragon was a stronger adversary than we anticipated. He disappeared and I have to find him!” Tsuki said desperately.

‘That sounds like Ryukatsei…Kentaru and Youko will definitely want to hear about this…I have to tell Kagome and her group as well. The only way that we will know that it is Ryukatsei is if he comes and attacks again.’ He sighed mentally. “Jaken, escort Tsuki to Miaka’s medical ward and bring Kagome to the ballroom.” Jaken waddled up and squawked “Yes milord. Come wench.” Tsuki glared at him. She wanted to kick him down the hall but refrained from doing it. ‘That little imp better watch his mouth…’

“Is there anything more to this spell? I feel there’s something more to it than reciting it and giving the potion to our parents. Miaka looked at him in surprise. “Not that I know of Lord Sesshoumaru. If there is anything else to the spell, it isn’t in the book and I don’t know much about this spell at all.” He nodded and walked away.

Kagome’s POV

‘This day is lasting forever! She sighed and looked up at the sunny sky Kaasan… Otousan… I want to talk to you. I don’t remember you at all. I want to get to know you…’ Jaken waddled up to the daydreaming Kagome and hit her over the head with his staff of heads when she didn’t answer him. “Itai! What was that for!” she growled slightly. She looked up and saw Jaken’s green face. “Why’d you hit me for Jaken?” Jaken paled slightly as he remembered her title. “Lady Kagome, You weren’t answering me when I was calling your name. Lord Sesshoumaru wants you to come to the ballroom.” She sighed irritably. “You could have just shook my shoulder. Try that next time.” she got up and walked into the castle towards the ballroom.

Kentaru’s POV

Kagome walked into the room and leaned against the wall next to Sesshoumaru, Rin, and Shippo. “What is it that you had to tell us Sesshoumaru?” He looked at the group and sighed. “A scout from the Northern army came here and is in the medical ward. Her group was attacked by a large black dragon accompanied by hundreds of lesser demons. The group was able to quickly dispose of the lesser youkai, then the dragon attacked. The only survivors of the group were a female neko youkai named Tsuki and another youkai named Toshiro. The neko says Toshiro disappeared when she awoke and the dragon was gone as well.”

“This sounds a lot like Ryukatsei. Did she tell you anything else about this dragon? This could be a trap set by Naraku.” Kagome said thoughtfully. Kentaru nodded in agreement. Kagome’s right. Naraku will do anything to stop us from achieving our goal of destroying him. He most likely wants to lure us in and attack us then.” Miroku nodded. “That sounds exactly like what he would do.”

Kagome’s POV

Kagome picked up Shippo and looked at the group. “We need to get ready. We have time about two hours before sunset.” She walked out of the room and to Sesshoumaru’s study to gather the ingredients. Sesshoumaru followed her, knowing what she was going to do. “Kaasan, are you going to get the ingredients for that spell you need to do? Is that why you’re going to Sesshoumaru’s study?” Shippo asked as he looked up at her. She stopped and looked at him. “Yes. I’m going to bring them to the ballroom until we know where we are going to perform the spell. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to do it at.”

Sesshoumaru walked out of the shadows. “We’re going to perform it in my mother’s room that overlooks her personal gardens.” Kagome jumped slightly. “She nodded her head and walked into the study. She put Shippo down and she walked to the bookcase where she thought the items were located on, but she couldn’t find a trace of them. “Did someone move them? This is where they were last, in the large behind your mountains of books.”

“They’re still there, they were just moved down the bookcase. Gather the items, I’ll show you where my mother’s room is.” She took five books off the fourth shelf and put them on the table that was nearby. Then she reached back and started to grab the ingredients. She put the fist two on the table and went for the next two. She placed the last two on the table. She put the books back on the shelf and gathered the items in her arms and waited for Shippo to follow her. Sesshoumaru went over to his desk to retrieve the spell book and the three walked out of the room.

Sesshoumaru led Kagome and Shippo down long hallways past the gardens. It was near Inutaisho and Mira’s room but to the southwest. They came to a set of large doors embossed with Sesshoumaru and Inutaisho’s inu form looking at the moon. Kagome and Shippo awed at the beauty of it silently as they stopped at the doors. As they entered, they gasped. ‘Sesshoumaru had Inutaisho, Mira, Midoriko, and Hiro moved here already?’ Sesshoumaru noticed her surprise and answered her question that she didn’t ask. “I had them moved here when You went to the gardens. Inuyasha should be here soon. Youko and Kentaru are coming in to help as well.”

Sesshoumaru’s POV

Kagome sat the ingredients down on the table and sat in the chair next to the bed her parent’s were lying in waiting for Youko, Kentaru, and Inuyasha to come into the room. Shippo jumped up into her lap and Sesshoumaru sat down across from her in a chair. They only had to wait about five minutes until the three came into the room. Inuyasha was the first to speak up. “Well, are we going to get to it or what?” The group nodded and Youko and Kentaru went over to help Sesshoumaru prepare the potions.

As the three finished preparing the potions, Kentaru handed two vials to Kagome and Youko handed one to Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru grabbed one and went to his mother‘s side of the bed. They looked at each other and recited the spell softly.

“The soul that is sealed come forth, make these bodies mobile again and let them live their normal lives!” the potions glowed bright blue and they slowly gave their parents the potions.

‘I hope this works…’ Kagome and Inuyasha thought with some hope. Suddenly, the room was filled with bright blue light and their parent’s body’s glowed silver. The light died down and They were relieved to see that their parent’s had more color on their face and Midoriko was stirring slightly. She opened her eyes slightly and saw a blurry form above her. As her vision cleared, she saw the daughter that she missed for so long. “Kagome?” she whispered in a weak voice. Kagome looked over to her mother. “Okaasan!”

Naraku’s going to have two new incarnations…Akira isn’t who he seems to be….
