InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ broken hearts fulfilment ❯ The truth of feeling's ( Chapter 2 )
Disclaimer: I do not own or claim to own any part or characters of Inu-yasha
Miroku and Sango were searching for Kagome and Inu-yasha in the forest.
"Kagome," screamed Sango "Inu-yasha"
"They're not here," said the monk
"How do you know? Maybe if you helped a little. So far all you've done is sit there"
"I'm looking through the trees. I don't see how calling her name over and over will help. If they could hear you they would of answered"
"Hey Sango," yelled Inu-yasha, "over here."
Sango gave the monk of smirk that made him cringe. Why did she have to be right so much?
"Where's Kagome?"
"She's over here."
Inu-yasha jumped off the tree and went to Kagome. "They're here. What should we tell them?"
"Inu-yasha, Kagome, What happened?" asked Sango. "We found Tetsusaiga." She raised her eyebrow in confusion as she saw Kagome was wearing the fire rat's fur, rather than her strange clothes. "Are you hurt Kagome?"
"No, not really."
Sango eyed her friend worriedly. She's limping a little, but other than that she seems fine, but where are her clothes?
"Did you transform?" asked Miroku.
"Yes," said Inu-yasha
"No" said Kagome at the same time.
Both Sango and Miroku eyed them suspiciously.
"Well he did, but I had run off before then. I guess the demon scared me more than usual."
"What happened to your clothes?" asked the monk.
"They got torn during he fight."
"Well if you have the pieces maybe I can fix them," offered Sango.
"Don't bother they were old anyways."
"Did anyone get the shikon shard?" asked Kagome.
"Umm no. Did you leave it?" asked Miroku.
"Well lets go get it," said Kagome.
She started to run off, but collapsed in pain. Inu-yasha picked her up and carried her to the clearing.
"Sango did you notice something strange?"
"Huh"
"Well for one thing, since when does Kagome leave anyone alone in battle, and since when does Inu-yasha leave Tetsusaiga and shikon shards behind?"
"People make mistakes," was Sango's reply, "and if you don't get on now Kiara and I are leaving you behind."
"Fine," sighed Miroku. Why are these women always so rude? They act like I did something wrong.
Kagome I don't know what happened but Miroku's right, something's strange. If you do not wish to tell me now I'll wait though.
She was released from her thoughts when she felt the monk's hands on her but. "Stop it you lech," she screamed as she slapped him, leaving a red mark.
When they arrived in the clearing, Kagome had just found the shikon shard.
"Feh, what took you so long? We're going back to Kaede's. See ya.
Before they could say anything, Inu-yasha had picked up Kagome and ran off.
"Well they're not very talkative today. Maybe I should talk to Kagome later?"
"Leave them alone, you lecherous monk," yelled Sango.
"What's wrong, Sango?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well for the past week you've been yelling at me even more than usual. I don't even have to touch you. I was wondering why?"
I have been haven't I. How can I do otherwise. Every time he sees a woman he goes running after them. The only time he even bothers giving me attention is when there's no one else there. How does he expect me to feel especially since I love him?
"You wouldn't understand," yelled Sango as the tears were forming in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," he replied, and held her tight. "I will not continue to bother you, but when you are ready to talk I'm here." I guess it must be her time of the month, thought Miroku.
"Thank you," said Sango shocked that the monk kept his hands in a decent area.
The ride back to Kaede's hut was silent. When they got back Kagome was inside having a private talk with Kaede.
(She had changed into different clothes, more like what you would see people wearing around the feudal era rather than school clothes. Comment: Why she only wears those is beyond me)
~IN THE HUT~
"Umm I need to ask you something grandma Kaede."
"What is it child?"
"Well…as we were fighting the demon today, Inuyasha lost Tetsusaiga."
"Did he transform?"
Kagome just nodded her head.
"Did he try to kill you?"
"No, not at all."
"Well what did happen? I am sure you would not come to talk to me if nothing had happened?"
"He kind of came on to me and was really forceful."
"Came on to you? What kinds of words are those?" Kaede looked up at Kagome and from the red color her face turned Kaede was able to figure out what happened.
"Hold on, let me get you some tea."
Kaede came back in a few minutes with a cup of tea.
"Drink," she said
Kagome drank the tea. The taste was strange but sweet.
"What kind of tea is this?" asked Kagome.
"It is a special herb. It can be taken before or after intimate acts to stop the risk of pregnancy."
"That's odd, I've never heard of this before."
"The plant is rare and not many people know of it in this time. People might have forgotten or it might not exist in yours. Besides from what I can tell demons are just legend in your time, but as you've seen, they are very real."
"I guess."
"Kagome, how do you feel about Inu-yasha?"
"He is stubborn, selfish, infuriating, and violent"
"So you do love him."
"Huh, well…yes." Admitted Kagome, "but he loves Kikyo, not me."
"Kikyo is dead. That false body is nothing but a memory living on a piece of soul stolen from you. My sister would never harm others even for herself."
"But Inu-yasha still loves her, enough to go to hell with her."
"Maybe, but let me ask you something. Who is the one Inu-yasha protects? He loved my sister because she was perhaps the first to accept him, and there was a bond beside, but emotionally they did not fit well. You are everything he saw in her, and more since you are also free to love him?"
"Free?"
"Kikyo was a miko and trained herself hard to love all. While she was allowed to have a family, it was not always looked upon as a good idea for one of the spiritual path. She had trained herself to love no one more than another, not even her own sister, but when Inu-yasha came along the bond was too much to ignore. Even then she could not free herself enough to completely love him. That is why it was so easy for Naraku to deceive them. She was not sure of her own heart."
"I see, but what should I do?"
"Maybe you should go back to your own world for a couple of days. I think you should think for a couple of days and then decide, and if you still want to be with him, then talk to Inu-yasha. You need to think this through first. Humans and demons will not accept a human and demon pairing. Even Kikyo knew no one would accept her help unless Inu-yasha turned human."
"But Inu-yasha is only half demon."
"It doesn't matter, to humans he has demon blood and that's enough, to demons he is a disgrace, and should be gotten rid of."
"But Shippo, Miroku, and everyone else doesn't feel that way."
"There are very few people like that. In case you haven't noticed, Miroku is not a normal monk, and Sango does not have the same standards of most women."
"But to not love him, because he has demon blood, that's…"
"I did not say not to love him, I have a feeling I know what the decision will be, but if I did not give that caution than I will never forgive myself."
"I understand, grandma Kaede. I will leave now."
Kagome walked out the hut and Inu-yasha was waiting outside. He shied away and his face was bright red."
"Did you finish?" he said in his usual gruff voice.
"Yes. Inuyasha I am going home."
"Don't you dare. You said you would be here seven days before you went back. Its only been 1…2 days."
"Inyasha please," pleaded Kagome as the half demon blocked her path.
"No wench" yelled Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha…Sit."
Kagome walked past the grounded half demon. Who is he to order me to stay here.
Kagome please don't go I need you. "Hey wench, I said don't leave. Didn't you hear me."
"SIT"
"Stop that, what did I do?"
"SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT." Kagome looked at the fallen Hanyou. "I have to go back Inu-yasha. Please just for a couple of days."
"But if you go, you will not come back."
"I will, Inuyasha."
"But how do I know?"
Kagome fingered her bracelet. It was a charm bracelet. Her mother had bought it for her a couple weeks ago with some charms. Her friends seeing it had bought her some charms as get well gifts, and Sota, and grandfather had joined in buying her charms. Now she always brought it to the feudal era so she could keep a piece of those she loved with her.
"Here" she said as she removed the bracelet and gave it to him.
"But…but why? " he asked holding the chain he had seen her treasure so much.
"Its my promise. I am not leaving for good."
"Can I walk you?"
Kagome looked at him with a shocked expression.
"Knowing you, you might get yourself hurt or killed on the way there. Only you can see the shards." Inuyasha turned his face in embarrassment. Why can't I be nice. Once again I ruin the moment
Kagome just looked at him, with understanding shining from her eyes. "Lets go."
"Kagome, when you come back, can you wear more clothes like that. I'm sure the village women would give you some"
"Why, they look better on you, and they don't show as much."
"Do you not like what I usually wear?"
"I do, but it stands out. That's not always safe."
"Ok"
~BACK IN KAEDES HUT~
"Lady Kaede?"
"Sango what brings you here?" asked Kaede.
"May I ask you something?"
"Yes."
"How do you know if you love someone?"
"Huh…Love cannot be explained. It is a special bond between people."
"I see."
Sango was about to get up to leave.
"Sango, do you think you love someone?"
Sango just sat back down staring at her hands like they had suddenly just appeared."
"Is it the monk?"
"Yes." Said Sango meekly.
"What makes you think you love him?"
"I have fought with him side by side, and he treats me as an equal. I find myself wanting to be with him always, and it hurts when he goes chasing after other woman."
"So why do you not tell the monk?"
"Look at me. On my body I have battle scars from fighting demons. In the village I was respected for my skills and loved because I was part of the village. I know my age. By now Ishould've been wed, but no man wanted me, and many women felt disgraced by the fact I was trying to do the work of men." The tears fell freely from Sango's eyes.
"And you think the monk feels that you are not womanly enough?"
"Yes"
"Sango, the monk is not like other men if you haven't noticed. He actually seems happy when you challenge him. And it is obvious he cares deeply for you, a lot more than I've seen him care for anyone else."
Sango just blushed.
"Perhaps I am wrong, and he is like other men, but perhaps he is not. If you love him, is it not worth the chance?"
"It is worth it lady Kaede. Thank you." Sango left the hut with a worried expression on her face.
"Sango, I'm bored will you tell me a story?"
"Sorry Shippo, try Kagome."
"I can't find her."
"Go talk to Miroku."
"Fine bye."
Sango walked off and the priest who had been waiting for Sango to leave, suddenly emerged.
"Miroku, I'm bored. Will you teach me some of your tricks?"
"They are not tricks." Miroku told the fox demon. "They are spiritual powers, and I can not. I must speak to Kaede on a matter of…up most importance. Why not try Kagome?"
"Can't find her."
"Sango?"
"Sent me to you."
"Inuyasha?"
"Haven't looked and…"
"Well go find him then."
"But I don't want to."
"See you later Shippo." Miroku said as he entered the hut.
"Damn, fine where's Inu-yasha?" At least he might know where Kagome is.
~IN LADY KAEDE'S HUT AGAIN~
"Lady Kaede?"
"What can I help you with Miroku?"
"I have a question about Lady Sango?"
What am I, the new town matchmaker? Thought Kaede with a grimace. "What is it? Is she well?
"Yes, but she seems distressed, and I do not know what to do."
"She seems ok. Many get distressed in their lives. Its part of living. And you, her and the rest of you have much to be distressed over"
"But I do not wish her to be distressed. I care for her deeply. And it is not just the shards.
There is something else."
"You love her."
"Yes, but she does not return the love. She seems to fear me."
"Sango was never fully accepted in her village. The men did not want her…"
"But they must of."
"She does not act like what is considered a proper women."
That is true
"Sango has faced down many demons. She would not fear you without reason. Perhaps she fears you because she loves you to."
"Thank you Lady Kaede. I must go and think now."
"Oh and Miroku, perhaps she might be more willing to love you, if you were not such a lech."
"Umm…thank you." Miroku exited the hut his face a deep red.
"Inu-yasha there you are!" exclaimed the little fox demon, finding the half dog demon on a branch. "HEY I NUYASHA DO YOU HERE ME? HEY I'M TALKING TO YOU."
"WHAT DO YOU WANT YOU LITTLE BRAT," yelled Inuyasha.
"I'm bored. Can you teach me to fight?"
"No, I'm thinking."
"Idiot, you never think."
Shippo had made a big mistake. In a split second Inu-yasha had jumped off the branch and knocked him on the head. "That's because you're always bugging me."
"Fine, Where's Kagome?"
"Went home."
"What! What did you do now?"
"Nothing brat. She wanted to go home."
"She better come back you stupid puppy."
"Why don't you try Sango?"
"busy"
"Miroku?"
"Talking to Kaede?"
"Oh. Well play with Kiara then."
"She's sleeping."
"Not my problem." Inuyasha jumped back on his branch. Kaede huh…that might not be a bad idea. She might be an old bag of bones, but she might be able to help me with Kagome. Let me think about it a little.
Shippo realizing Inuyasha would do nothing ran to Kaede's hut.
~Once again, back in the hut~
"Is Miroku in here?"
"No he just left, Shippo."
"Damn no one has time for me? Can you show me some more herbs today?"
"I am afraid I cannot. There is too much going on here. You are not by any chance having problems with love, are you?"
"No," said Shippo, very confused.
"Good," said Kaede with a sigh.
"Hey, old lady are you in here?"
"Yes, Inuyasha."
"Inuyasha, be respectful." Said the fox demon.
"Get out of here," said Inuyasha to the fox demon.
"Why should I?"
"Cause I said so." Replied Inuyasha pushing him towards the door.
"Shippo, why don't you play with the village children."
"Fine."
"So Inuyasha," Kaede said as Shippo left. "Let me guess. You are having love problems dealing with Kagome."
Inuyasha's jaw dropped in awe. How did she know? I guess it was a good idea to come to her.
I am a healer and protector of this village. I have never wed, so why am I playing a matchmaker.
"Well…Yes," replied Inu-yasha blushing furiously.
"Let me make this quick. You love her. Be nice to her. Tell her."
"But what about Kikyo?"
"Do you still love Kikyo?"
"Yes"
"Inuyasha sit down."
He cringed at the word but sat.
"Kikyo and you were soul mates Inuyasha. I believe demons have that to. They are people, I mean souls destined to be together for eternity. But when Kikyo died her soul was born again in Kagome."
"But Kikyo still lives."
"That cheap imitation body is not my sister. Yes, she has her memories, but my sister would not confine others souls to save herself. She is nothing more than a memory living on her anger for you, and the piece of soul she stole from Kagome."
"So Kagome is Kikyo?"
"No, Kagome and Kikyo share the same soul, but there personalities are different. You should love Kagome for who she is, not because she shares the same soul as Kikyo."
"I already did, perhaps even more than Kikyo. She is more free than her, and I feel more comfortable and safer with her."
"Than you should tell her."
"But I am half demon."
"I do not think that matters to her."
"No one will ever accept us. They killed my mother because she married a demon. What if I cannot protect her?"
"That is a problem, but you can always go to her world, and you are already more powerful than most demons around."
"Yes, but I would never forgive myself if I could not save her. Especially if she died because of me."
"That is a problem. But you two were destined to be together. Why don't you tell her your fears and let her decide."
"Thank you. I have to go now."
Inuyasha left and fled through the forest.
What a mess this is though Kaede. I hope this works out ok. So much depends on them.
More chapters will come.
