Part 10: "I may be stupid; but he's clueless."

Inuyasha sat under the tree waiting for the morning. Kagome was sound asleep against his side, as she had been for the past couple of hours. As soon as the sun rose, he would be able to carry her back to her house without having to wake her.

Inuyasha sat there enjoying the quiet night that occupied the late night in the park. It was soothing, for him, to be surrounded by trees in an area he wouldn't have to worry about a youkai hunting him down. The time in the past was much more difficult to live with, though he did miss it, in a few ways.

In ways, he began to wonder and worry about how Sango, Miroku, and Shippo were fairing on the other side of the well.

When the morning came, Miroku and Sango, along with Kirara and Shippo broke camp and began walking toward Kaede's village. They had went out on search for more Shikon shards, and found nearly one hundred clues, but only one shard in the month they spent in search. The battle against the youkai who had the jewel shard had also taken its toll on the group. Never before had they pondered how much easier it was when Kagome found the shards, and Inuyasha defeated the youkai to gain the shards. By themselves, Miroku and Sango, found the higher level youkai slightly more difficult than they had expected.

After feeling their current travels were a waste of time, they decided to wait for the time being. They had also decided that a little time to rest would be the best for when their journey could begin again, hopefully with the help of Inuyasha, at the least.

The entire group, especially Shippo, was worried about how Kagome was doing in her time, but they had no way of figuring it out. They would just have to wait for another two long months to see how everything turned out.

Shippo really wanted to see Kagome, but he knew he would have to wait. Things were difficult; that part he knew. Truthfully, Shippo had never been away from Kagome this long. She had always come back at least in a weeks' time, unless Inuyasha pulled her back early. And if Kagome wasn't there, Inuyasha was there, but now neither of them was with him. He had gotten used to having at least one of them around. He missed them-both of them.

"Shippo?" Sango called. She and Miroku were future up the road from Shippo, while he stood staring off into the distance.

Shippo looked at Sango.

"Is something wrong?" Sango asked.

Shippo shook his head and looked down at the dirt path which they were following to Kaede's village.

Kirara mewed.

"Shippo, something is the matter; are you hurt?" Sango asked as she walked back.

Shippo looked back up. "No, Sango, I'm fine. I'm just…thinking about Kagome and Inuyasha. I miss them…both of them."

Sango frowned.

Miroku sighed. "We all miss them, Shippo."

"I'm sure they miss us, too, Shippo." Sango said. "But we can't let the separation get us down."

"Sango is right, Shippo." Miroku stated. "Don't worry… We'll see them again, I promise. Everything will work out fine."

Shippo nodded slightly and then looked back down at the ground. They were right. He'd just have to wait until they could return, even if it were a long time from the present.

Alexia rummaged through a trunk in the room she was in. Ever since her meeting with Inuyasha and Kagome, she'd been searching for more information on the history of the youkai of the past. She figured that if she found the right information, she'd be able to talk to Inuyasha and Kagome again.

"Alexia." Tye called restlessly. "What are you doing?"

Alexia stood up and spun around quickly, trying to hide the spread out books on the floor. "Nothing."

"Do you think your cousin won't notice that you've been in his room?" Tye asked.

"Ha!" Alexia said stubbornly. "I may be stupid; but he's clueless. He wouldn't know if a board hit him!"

Tye shook his head. "Couldn't you have just asked him to see the scrolls?"

"I could have, but I'm not just looking for scrolls. I'm looking for books, too." Alexia explained sarcastically. She looked around the room with her eyes.

"Alexia…" Tye sighed. "You could have at least told him that you were looking. What if he thinks someone broke in?"

"My cousin will probably tell my uncle and my uncle won't think anything of it." Alexia explained. "He can smell that I've been here, and he knows that I'm interested in history."

"And…what if he doesn't tell your uncle?" Tye asked as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Then you're in for it too." Alexia said with hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Now, if you want you could help me, so that we can get out of here."

Tye sighed and walked over to a bookshelf. "So what exactly am I looking for?"

"Names." Alexia said as she turned back to the chest. "Any name we can gather."

"But I thought that all the names were recorded in a book of their own?" Tye asked as he pulled a book off the shelf, knocking a wooden box to the floor scattering the photographs it contained. "Oh, damn it." He cursed as he sat down beside the scattered photos, placing the book aside.

At first he wasn't paying attention to the photos, but he then noticed that every photo had the same person in them. "Uh…Alexia…?"

"Hm?" Alexia asked as she turned her head back.

"Come look at these." Tye said.

Alexia crawled over to Tye's side and looked at the photograph. "Kagome-chan? Why would my cousin have a picture of Kagome?"

Tye shook his head. "Looks like they go to school together."

Alexia looked up as the door to the room opened.

"Um…Alexia, Tye, what are you two doing here?" Hojo asked.

Alexia felt hairs stand up on her back. It wasn't like she hated her cousin; he just annoyed the fire out of her.

Hojo looked at the photo in Tye's hand. "Uh…she's a girl from school."

"And you stalk her taking pictures?" Alexia asked slightly dumbfounded at the number of photos.

"I haven't in a while." Hojo explained. "She is sick and absent a lot, so when she does come to school, I…don't have my camera… Besides, you shouldn't be here."

"She's 'sick' a lot?" Tye asked humorously. "You like this girl."

"Well…yeah… And as for the illnesses, she has had resent problems that caused her to withdraw." Hojo explained sheepishly.

Alexia began laughing. "Have you, by any chance, been told off lately?"

Hojo looked up at Alexia from his gaze on the floor with a look of confusion on his face. "Yeah…why?"

Tye chuckled. "It is true, you are an idiot. For someone who is part youkai, I expected you to have noticed."

"Notice what?" Hojo asked as he looked between the two.

"She's pregnant, moron." Alexia said.

Hojo dropped the bag he was holding and looked at Alexia and Tye in utter shock. "Please explain."
