Part 12: "And now time is running thin."

Jaken had been in search for Sesshoumaru for over two months. More than that, Jaken had to put up with Rin bothering him during the search about why he wasn't able to find Sesshoumaru.

"Jaken-sama." Rin called as she walked up, holding the reigns of Ah-Un.

Jaken spun quickly. "Quiet, girl, I don't have time. I have to find Sesshoumaru." He told her harshly.

Rin looked tired. "Rin wants to find Sesshoumaru-sama, too, but Rin is hungry."

Jaken turned around and mumbled under his breath. "Why did you leave me with this brat, Sesshoumaru-sama…?"

Rin watched as Jaken began walking again, but she didn't follow him. "Rin is going to find food for Rin and Ah-Un." She looked up at Ah-Un, which looked to the left. Rin nodded and began walking in that direction.

So, therefore, Rin and Jaken went in different directions.

Rin walked as quietly as she could through the forest. It was long before she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and tripped. Rin shook her head as she used her arms to push herself up and looked back to see what she tripped over-it seemed to be a shoe, or boot. She looked up toward the bushes next to the boot and looked through the leaves to see a rock next to a tree on the other side. Rin stood up and walked toward the bushes, pushing the leaves aside. "Ah! Sesshoumaru-sama!"

It was indeed Sesshoumaru. He was calmly asleep, and seemingly didn't hear Rin's voice.

Rin turned in the direction she came from. "Jaken-sama!" She yelled loudly enough where she would hope the toad would hear her.

Jaken hadn't noticed that Rin wasn't with him, but when he heard her call for him and began frantically running in the direction in which her yell came from. "Oh my; If something happened to her Sesshoumaru-sama is going to kill me!"

Jaken saw Ah-Un and reached the child quicky. "What!"

Rin pointed to the bushes, causing Jaken to look.

"AH! Sesshoumaru-sama!" Jaken frantically ran to Sesshoumaru's side.

Sesshoumaru was still in the deep sleep which Rin had found him in.

"What's the matter with Sesshoumaru-sama?" Rin asked.

"He's asleep." Jaken said.

"But why has Sesshoumaru-sama not woken up with us yelling?" Rin asked.

Jaken looked at Rin. "Why are you asking me?"

Rin pushed some bush branches aside and sat down.

"What are you doing?" Jaken asked somewhat annoyed at Rin.

"Waiting for Sesshoumaru-sama to wake up." Rin replied sharply, seemingly annoyed by Jaken.

"How dare you speak to me in ill tone!" Jaken said.

Sesshoumaru felt light headed. The last thing he remembered was leaving the spring and his encounter with Kagome and going to find Jaken and Rin. On his way he felt as if his power were drained and decided to rest, and now he was struggling to keep his thoughts in order.

"How dare you speak to me in ill tone!" A familiar voice yelled.

"Rin is worried about Sesshoumaru-sama." The familiar child's voice argued back.

Sesshoumaru stirred and opened his eyes to see a blur.

"Ah! Sesshoumaru-sama!" Rin cheered. "Are you okay?"

"Sesshoumaru-sama, what happened?" Jaken asked.

Sesshoumaru remained silent as he let his eyes focus on the two who stood at each of his sides.

"You've been gone nearly three months." Jaken replied.

Sesshoumaru was distraught by the information about the length of time. This little "nap" of his was going to interfere with his plan.

Rin grabbed Sesshoumaru's sleeve. "Rin's happy you're awake."

Sesshoumaru looked at Rin, and noticed something-the sleeve she was clasped onto wasn't empty as it had been before his little "nap;" his arm had grown back. He sat up straight and pulled his arm away from Rin and raised his hand to inspect it.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, your arm--! How did you?" Jaken asked.

After wondering over the event himself, Sesshoumaru finally had come up with the answer; Kagome had miko powers. "Miko powers and mine own." Sesshoumaru replied. "Hostile miko powers at that."

"Miko?" Rin asked.

Jaken seemed as confused as Rin, but then gawked. "You didn't…! With a human!"

Sesshoumaru grinned. "Not just any human, Jaken."

Rin looked confused as Sesshoumaru looked at Jaken.

"Inuyasha's human companion-Kagome." Sesshoumaru said.

"This means you-" Jaken began.

"I claimed Kagome in order to destroy my brother." Sesshoumaru said. "And now time is running thin." He stood up, causing Rin to stand.

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" Rin asked.

Sesshoumaru looked at Rin, but then walked out of the space he had spent a two month nap.

Deep in the forest near the mountains-youkai have learned of a rumor, or basically a stated fact-that the Lord of the Western Lands had claimed a human girl, whom traveled with his hanyou brother.

No select few were chosen for the fact. The fact was for all the youkai to know. By four days time almost all the youkai knew the fact including one who knew the human girl personally.

"Kouga…" Ginta said as he walked up to his relaxing leader.

"What?" Kouga asked, oblivious to the news he was going to receive.

"Um…" Ginta began. "You won't believe what we just heard…"

"What?" Kouga asked somewhat dumbfounded by his two followers' way of acting.

"Kagome…has been claimed…" Hakkaku said.

"WHAT!" Kouga yelled as he stood up facing toward the two.

Ginta and Hakkaku clung to each other fearing Kouga's anger.

"Who!" Kouga yelled. "If it's Dog Crap I'll kill him!"

Ginta shook his head. "No; not him. It was his elder brother."

"WHAT!" Kouga yelled. "I'm gonna kill him for touching my Kagome!"
