Part 2: "She doesn't belong to you…"
Inuyasha dashed quickly to the hot-spring. He smelt it-his brother and Kagome. He looked at the things she had left and then toward the direction he assumed his bastard of a half-brother had gone. He hated himself for not thinking something like this would happen. He wanted answers for why this was done to Kagome, and the only one who could give him those answers was the bastard who did it-Sesshoumaru.

Sango, Kagome, and the others reached Kaede's hut. Kagome sat down quietly in a corner hugging her knees as she sat in silence with Shippo beside her.
Miroku looked at Sango and Kaede. "I wish to speak with you two privately."
Kaede and Sango nodded and followed him outside and away from the ears of Shippo.
"Houshi-sama, do you know what happened?" Sango asked.
"If you do; tell us." Kaede said.
Miroku sighed and felt anger swell inside of him. The thought of something happening like that caused him to feel the need to kill the one who did it, but…this was a situation he knew he could no know such thing. Comfort and understanding to Kagome's situation was all he could offer.
"Sango, Kaede…something terrible has happened." Miroku began. "It's unforgivable for humans to do such a thing…but the present doings was not of a human. Shippo told us that Kagome's scent was different, Sango. Inuyasha smelt it, too, so he went off to find the one who caused that change. Shippo told me how the smell changed and how…other youkai changed scents for specific reasons. The bruises on her wrists look like her arms were held together if you've noticed and were done by someone we all know as powerful."
Miroku looked up at Sango and Kaede. "The lucky thing is that she is alive…but, I fear that could also be what's bad. It's unforgivable to force someone to do something that doesn't want to do. She was raped while she was away from us."
Sango let realization hit her. "Who…!"
Kaede seemed shocked. "Houshi, if you know who had defiled Kagome then we must find that person."
"Inuyasha probably won't win." Miroku said. "He's reckless, and probably angry. And we're powerless before such a person."
"Houshi-sama!" Sango yelled. "I don't care how powerful a person it was; I'm going to kill him! No one has a right to…!"
"Sesshoumaru." Miroku said bluntly. "He was the one. That's why Kagome-sama was afraid of Inuyasha when he got close to her in the forest."
Sango dropped her offensiveness and realized that Miroku was right; they were powerless before Sesshoumaru. Inuyasha would have killed him in a fight previously, but the sword-Tenseiga prevented that death, and would do such a thing again. "Oh my god…"
Kaede looked at Sango. "What is done is done…there isn't anything we can do about that."
"Inuyasha needs to return." Miroku said. "I feel that he is the only one who can bring her back to the way she was. Sesshoumaru…he really did break her…"
Sango clenched her fists in anger, but the anger would go unappeased. "I'm going to talk to Kagome."

Inuyasha continued as the evening began to ready itself for the night. He was going to find Sesshoumaru if it took a week. Suddenly Inuyasha stopped. He was in a small clearing.
"Wonderful evening, isn't it, Inuyasha?" Sesshoumaru asked as he stepped out of the shadows of the trees in front of Inuyasha.
"Bastard, why the hell did you…!" Inuyasha yelled.
"I felt like it." Sesshoumaru said.
"Why Kagome of all people!" Inuyasha yelled.
"I'm sure I don't have to answer that." Sesshoumaru said.
Inuyasha growled. "You-you hate humans!"
"Ah, I'm sure you've noticed, too, little brother; she's different." Sesshoumaru said. "She's better than humans, and much better than a hanyou like yourself, but I didn't tell her that. It would ruin the horrible anguish she was experiencing worrying over what her precious hanyou would say, but instead…you ran away. How pleasing." He laughed.
"I'll rip you to shreds." Inuyasha said angrily.
"You wouldn't want that." Sesshoumaru said tauntingly. "You wouldn't want the child to be without a father now would you?"
"What!" Inuyasha yelled. "No! You didn't…! You really are a bastard!"
"She doesn't belong to you…and now she belongs to me." Sesshoumaru said. "I didn't know humans could be so pleasing, actually; but now that I know…maybe a hanyou like you really isn't such a mistake."
Inuyasha clawed at Sesshoumaru who dodged. He continued to try to scratch him, but Sesshoumaru continued to dodge without avail. Inuyasha halted the attacks and glared at his elder half-brother. "Bastard."
"Go take care of my Kagome, Inuyasha, until I come for her." Sesshoumaru said slyly. "Oh and remember that little rule about you not being able to touch her. I think I won. You better hurry, hanyou, the sun is setting."
Inuyasha growled as Sesshoumaru turned and walked away. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to kill Sesshoumaru, but Sesshoumaru's powers were greater and the sun was beginning to set completely. It was a very bad night for him and he knew that Sesshoumaru knew it-that's why he lured him all the way out into the woods. The New Moon was tonight and Sesshoumaru lured him in the deep woods for other youkai and beasts to feed upon. It was a very bad night.
Inuyasha turned and ran as fast as he could. He hoped to gain most of the distance between himself in the village before his powers faded. After that, he was on his own in the dark.
It was probably past mid-night as Inuyasha managed to make his way to the village spurting curses as he walked to Kaede's hut.
Miroku watched as Inuyasha entered the hut and sat angrily on the ground. "No luck?"
"Feh!" Inuyasha blurted. "I found the fucking bastard but it got dark and I couldn't do anything!"
Kagome covered her ears not wanting to listen to the conversation. She knew that everyone had found out, except for the clueless Shippo.
"I…I…did what I could." Inuyasha said fumbling for the words as he looked at Kagome. (Poor Kagome…she has no idea what could happen to her…) he thought as he lowered his head. (We'll just have to forget about it; that's it. Pretend nothing happened. Baka! No one will forget, and now she's never going to look at you as a hanyou again because you look similar to him!) He mentally began cursing himself. (What if she really is pregnant with that bastard's child? What are you going to do? Beg him to leave her alone? That's exactly what he wants you to do, baka!)
Inuyasha wished that he could know if what Sesshoumaru had said was true or not-if she was pregnant or not. He hoped it was a hoax to worry him while he was human, which would work perfectly for Sesshoumaru's part, but if it wasn't a hoax…things were going to be difficult and he'd have to be the one to tell her the news.
Inuyasha covered his eyes and shook his head trying to think of what to say to the others-except Kagome-who was looking at him. Personally, he didn't care about Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kaede, or Kirara; he was worried about Kagome. He needed to say something reassuring to her. "I…I don't know what's going on in your head, Kagome…but…if you think I hate you because of this…you're wrong… I'm sorry if you think I caused this…I am just--"
"No." Kagome said in a low tone. "It…it's not you… I know better than…than to go off on my own…but…I did it anyway… It's my own stupid fault."
Inuyasha felt pain sting his heart. He didn't know what to say or do. He could only worry.
"Kagome-chan, it isn't your fault." Sango assured her. "It could have happened to anyone."
Kagome felt angry at the statement and stood up. "Really? I could really not imagine you in that kind of situation with him. After all, what fun would that be! Let's torture the girl from the future! There must be a sign on me saying that I travel with Inuyasha and he protects me and that if you hurt me you could possibly hurt him! Well if there isn't, then someone should make one! Why the hell am I screaming! Nothing exciting about that now is it! I'm from a time where bad things like that do happen, but…in my time you can avoid it! You can run away from the bad guys in my world, but not something like him. Sango, I don't see anyone threatening to rip out your tongue if you screamed or remove your hands if you move them or swearing to be more violent the more you resist. Being constantly threatened not to scream isn't fun especially you know that their doing it intentionally because you're friends with a specific person. No, Sango, it couldn't have happened to anyone!"
Sango felt pain tug at her heart at the incoming information. It was heart wrenching to learn about the threats which had occurred during the ordeal.
Miroku lowered his head in fear to speak.
Inuyasha looked at Kagome. "So it is my fault… I'm sorry, Kagome… I don't think I can make it up with how sorry I am…I'll know by tomorrow if I'm even able to… I'm sorry." He stood up and left the hut quickly.
Inuyasha walked out and sat under a tree. If morning came and what Sesshoumaru had said was indeed true…then Sesshoumaru would be back and nothing would stop him; if it wasn't…he wanted to be by Kagome's side until she let the pain go and as long as she would accept him.
Miroku sat down in front of Inuyasha, causing Inuyasha to glance up. "Sango is trying to get Kagome-sama to go to sleep."
"Good luck…" Inuyasha mumbled.
"I think you lied to us." Miroku said. "I don't think your power ran out during your confrontation; he would have killed you."
"Feh!" Inuyasha said. "If he wanted to kill me as a human, he would have done it a long time ago. He knows, baka; he's always known. He IS my brother. As Kagome seemed to point out…there isn't any fun for him to kill humans easily. If they are in his way or a nuisance, then he does it. He used to come to me while I was human and taunted me, Miroku; I know what he's like. Kagome…just happened to be at the blunt end of his torture this time…and he liked it more than you realize…"
"What's that mean?" Miroku asked.
"You're right; I lied to all of you." Inuyasha said. "I tried to fight him after he made me angry with what he said. I don't know if there is truth in it…that's why I have to wait 'till morning." He lowered his head.
"What did he say?" Miroku asked fearing the reply.
"She doesn't belong to me and that she's his and…if…if she's pregnant, as he says, then it's true." Inuyasha said.
Miroku was shocked. "You can't just give up if it is, Inuyasha; it's unforgivable."
"If it is true, Miroku, I won't be able to touch her without asking to be killed!" Inuyasha said. "If it's true, and she belongs to him, and if I try in any way to relieve that, and if he receives it as a threat, then I am in his power! You know nothing of situations like this in youkai terms, Houshi!"
"Wouldn't he…just release her?" Miroku asked. "I mean…he hates humans."
Inuyasha lowered his head. "That's what he used to say…but it's different now."
Miroku looked up at Inuyasha in shock. He wasn't used to seeing Inuyasha on the verge of giving up, and that was how it seemed. "We…have to try to help her…. There is always a way."
"Well…actually." Inuyasha looked up meeting Miroku's gaze. "There is a way." Inuyasha stood up and looked at the hut.
"How?" Miroku asked as he stood up.
"If my fears are realized, then I'll tell you, but not yet." Inuyasha said. "Wait 'till tomorrow."
