~Recap~
“IthinkI’minlovewithyou!” he blurted out in a very un-Sesshomaru like moment.
“What?” she asked as she looked at him, he was blushing… she almost couldn’t figure it out.
“I realized it when we were there the day you tried to give me Tetsusaiga.” He said sheepishly, he really had opened up a lot. “You were the only one I didn’t get to tell how much they meant to me… and you were gone. I thought that maybe you’d died.” He said, “Then the kitsune told me of your well and the magic it contained. Kagome–even if you don’t love me, I do… love you.” He finished.
She was flabbergasted to say the least… Sesshomaru… in love… with her? Where were the hidden cameras? This had to be a joke! “Se–“ she never got to finish her sentence as she felt his lips touch hers gently, without thinking, she leaned into it, putting more pressure into the chaste kiss until it took a turn towards utter passion. He’d somehow made his way around the table and wrapped her up in his arms, deepening the kiss as she wrapped her arms around his neck, not wanting this to end. ‘I love you, miko, I should’ve said it centuries ago when I had the chance.’ He thought as his fingers tangled into her carefully combed hair.
NOW ON WITH THE STORY
He’s in love with me? Is this some sort of sick joke?’ she thought as he pulled his lips away from hers in an utterly slow motion. “Sesshomaru?” she asked, her eyes veiled slightly as she pulled away from him. “Do you mean it?” she asked, feeling butterflies take up residence somewhere inside of her stomach.
“I do.” He replied as he looked at her, and her heart gave a slight flutter.
“I know you didn’t kid five hundred years ago, you aren’t kidding me now are you?” she asked. ‘He didn’t have a sense of humor in the least five hundred years ago.’ She thought as she touched her lips, realizing how swollen they were from his kiss.
“No, I’m not ‘kidding’ you, as you say.” He smirked, his fang digging lightly into his lower lip. “I’ve changed a lot, Kagome.” He whispered, his topaz eyes shimmering at her. “The loss of my brother revealed a lot to me about myself. I was too cold, and had never told Rin before then that I loved her like my own child, and that I’d never told Inuyasha… that he was more dear to me than he could ever comprehend. I could have quite easily killed him on many occasions, but I did not want to, my hand was always swayed by that nagging thing in the back of my head that he was telling me that I would be doomed to a solitary lifestyle forever if I were to slay him.” He explained, a sadness tingeing his voice and his gaze.
He’d taken a seat beside her, placing her hand in his. “I felt–empty… for a long time. I don’t think I ate very much in weeks. I still can’t sleep… the world changed in one terrifying instant, I didn’t think I’d survive this long.” She admitted as the tears tried to gather behind her eyes, which she suddenly realized were burning. “I never could find the Shikon no Tama, of course, it all seemed worthless.” She began to cry despite her efforts not to.
Sesshomaru reached over and stroked her cheek, wiping away the tears slipping over it. “I keep forgetting that you haven’t had as much time to recover from the blows that his death dealt.” He whispered as she leaned into his hand.
“I’ve been able to adjust, but I still think he’s going to appear one day and–I don’t know. I miss him.” She said.
“I’ve missed him, too.” Sesshomaru said as he flipped his hand over and grasped hers.
“I’m glad you contacted me, Sesshomaru.” She whispered as she leaned her head on her outstretched arm, beginning to feel slightly drained from the shock of seeing him again. She studied him, he’d taken his jacket off and he had on a blue silk button up business shirt and black suit pants. He looked amazing; he’d pulled his hair back into a tight ponytail at the nape of his neck. It seemed like he hadn’t aged in 500 years. His magenta stripes seemed more prominent, and his eyes seemed less cold. He was like a completely different man. “I feel like maybe this has actually helped the healing process somehow.”
“Thank you. I believe it has helped me as well.” He said as he lifted her hand and brushed his lips against her knuckles. “I know that I may have shocked you with my feelings for you, but I will not push the issue. Just remember that you are loved.” He said as the waiter finally arrived, breaking Kagome’s unnerved silence.
As the waiter handed them their menus, he bowed slightly and walked away with a “Thank you.” From Kagome and a nod from Sesshomaru.
She looked over the form of the man before her again; she could tell that he had lean muscle under that silk shirt. She felt a burn in the pit of her stomach coupled with more butterflies, she crossed her legs in her sudden discomfort. “Are you all right, Kagome? You seem a bit disconcerted.”
She blushed lightly as she realized that she’d been admiring him a bit much, but couldn’t help but look at his hands and imagine those long fingers running over her naked flesh. She got a shiver and looked at him. “I’m–“she coughed lightly, “I’m fine.” She muttered through her embarrassment as she blushed and she was sure that her face was a deep red.
He smiled, he’d smelled her reaction, and enjoyed it quite a bit. She smelled like a spring rain that cleansed the deepest part of any man’s soul. ‘If she decides that she loves me too, I’ll be the luckiest being alive.’ He thought as he stroked the back of her fingers.
Her heart fluttered yet again and his caress of her fingers and let a shiver run down her spine, causing every butterfly in the vicinity to take up residence in her stomach. ‘Could I be in love with him?’ she thought as she stared into those glimmering pools of gold. ‘He looks so handsome, I never noticed before… but then I was in love with his brother.’ A shock ran through her at the thought of the silver haired hanyou she’d loved. She shoved down the emotions that threatened to break her hold on composure.
“It is okay to cry over him.” Sesshomaru said as he tucked a stray strand of behind her ear. She hadn’t changed much, she’d gotten thinner, and her eyes held a sadness that almost drowned the spark they once held. Her lashes were thick and long and her mouth… he almost groaned at the thought of that kiss. Perfection was the only word to truly describe the miko before him, and he intended to let her know forever that she was loved.
At his words, the dam broke, and she began sobbing brokenly and he pulled her close to him, stroking the silken locks that adorned her hair. “I–loved him so much but I could never tell him, and I just keep telling myself that he’s still alive and the just wanted to protect me from the dangers and the hurt and went with mating a hanyou but–“ she whispered into his chest.
“You really haven’t let yourself mourn properly, Kagome. I remember you being so much stronger; his death took its toll on too many of us. The taijiya cried for weeks before the monk was able to calm her down and finally, they married years later. The monk tried to control his rage by beating on what was left of the dark hanyou. He decided that he would become a hunter so that no one should ever feel the pain of loss as your pack did.” Sesshomaru said as he wrapped his arms around her.
“They didn’t make it to old age, did they?” she asked sadly.
“Actually, they did, they had…” he stopped and removed his arms from her so that he could count the names of their children on his fingers. Her damp eyes almost popped as he continued counting on his fingers a second time, “Somewhere between twelve and twenty children, it is hard to keep count after all of these years.” He admitted.
“So many children, they must’ve been so happy.” She said as she looked down at her own hands. “It hurt so bad to leave them.” She whispered.
He remembered how he’d handled the whole thing: he’d gone back to the Western Fortress, and when Rin ran up to him, he hugged her and told her that he would never let her go another day without him telling her how much she was loved. Then he’d told Jaken that he was the best retainer that he could ever have… which shocked the toad imp and caused him to faint. “I will never let anyone go without knowing my feelings again, good or bad. That’s why I sought you out, also to give you an offer for the internship.” He said, “I thought that you would have a good business prowess, you are a driven woman, and I will admit that I didn’t expect your grades to be so good from high school, since you spent so much time in Sengoku Jidai.” He said.
“Trust me, Inuyasha hated letting me go back for tests and letting me study.” She admitted, remembering how he’d scowl at her for wanting to go home every few weeks.
“I’ve missed you.” Sesshomaru said suddenly. “I always tried to convince myself that your presence was a simple nuisance, but I couldn’t force it back that your beauty was beyond compare.” He whispered in her ear. His hot breath hit her ear and she closed her eyes, feeling the sensation to shoot from her ears to the apex of her thighs. She bit her lip as the realization that she might actually love him nagged her.
“I think I missed you, too, Sesshomaru.” She whispered as she only found part of her voice. She didn’t realize that neither of them had moved until his lips caressed her cheek.
‘You love him… admit it you dummy. Even Inuyasha saw it, why do you think that he always tried to keep you behind him when he fought Sesshomaru?’ her conscience told her.
‘I–It’s too soon!’ she argued mentally with herself.
‘It’s been three years, you baka! You’ve felt his loss just as much as any of them; he loves you, as much as Inuyasha ever did. Let yourself be loved, stupid woman!’ her mind screamed. ‘If you don’t let go, you’ll never find out what it feels like to fly.’ She gasped. Could she really be in love with a demon that she was just getting to know? ‘You know you feel safe in his arms, and he doesn’t sleep in trees or call you names… maybe something different will do you some good. Jump in and find out if you can swim!’ she sighed, what was with all of the metaphors?
‘Traitorous conscience! You’re supposed to keep me from falling for another being!’ she scolded.
‘Consciences are supposed to tell you when it’s all right to do something and when it’s not! Now, I’m saying it’s okay so go for it! You don’t have to say you love him unless you feel it is necessary, or you just want to… wink wink nudge nudge…’ she sighed, even her conscience was pushing her, demanding her to love again.
‘I guess that it can’t hurt to try to love again.’ She thought as she looked at Sesshomaru’s golden gaze. She was already only half a foot away from his face, so she leaned in and pressed her lips to his, letting her eyelids flutter closed as she did. He kissed her back, less demanding than the first one, and not quite gentle. He slipped his fingers into her hair that hung so beautifully around her face. She gave in to the sensations and wrapped her arms around his neck as she felt his tongue begging for entrance to her mouth. She tentatively let her mouth open and his tongue entered, exploring over her teeth and finally, his met her tongue and they started a battle of wills as they clung to each other, her hands grasping at the soft hair behind his ponytail, loosening it slightly. He looked amazing, but his kisses were even more amazing. She sighed into his mouth and suddenly, they were rudely interrupted by the waiter, and they realized that most of the patrons, though there were only a few, were staring raptly as they had basically made out at their table. She began to blush a deep red and buried her face in her hands. ‘Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! I was just making out with my boss!’ she thought in despair.
“Kagome…” Sesshomaru whispered as he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Let’s just order and get our food to go, and we can take our visit elsewhere.” He said as he looked at the waiter.
They ordered a wonderful meal of sweet and sour chicken and rice balls, and left when the food was cooked. As they climbed into the sports car that he drove, she couldn’t believe that he looked so amazing in this city, he looked as if he belonged. A major CEO with tattoos, and how he make it seem so simple, to be youkai in a modern world. She sighed as he looked at her, a quizzical look on his face. “I’m sorry, I was staring wasn’t I?” she muttered.
“You’re lovely when you blush so.” He said as he lifted a hand and brushed her cheek with gentle fingers.
“Thank you.” She whispered, the butterflies taking flight yet again. ‘I never reacted to Inuyasha this way.’ She mused as she looked into the golden eyes before her.
“Are you all right? You seem tired.” He said as he opened the car door for her. She smiled and nodded, not trusting herself to speak. “Let’s go somewhere else.” He said as he closed the door, quickly telling her to put her seatbelt on.
Once they pulled out, he took a turn to the coast, and followed it in silence. “Don’t you have to be back to the office soon?” she asked, not sure if she’d already asked.
“No, you were my last appointment of the day. I planned it that way.” He said gently.
“It’s so strange,” she blurted, “I was afraid of you up until the day he died. Then you showed me something that I never thought was in you… “
“What do you mean?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.
“Kindness and caring.” Was all she said as she looked at him.
“Up to that point I had only showed that to Rin. I felt that you needed it more than anyone.” He said as he reached over and placed a hand over hers and lifted it. He placed it over the shifter and began to shift the car as they drove along the coast.
Her heart began to pound in her chest and her cheeks flushed as her arm jerked in the motions of shifting the car. She smiled as he looked up at her. She didn’t want to blush, but her cheeks pinked slightly and she bowed her head to try and hide it. “You are quite beautiful when you blush.” He pointed out as she blushed even deeper.
They arrived at the beach and she smiled as he let her out, offering his hand to her. She smiled as she stood and they walked over the sand, the food in hand. He had a blanket, and they spread it out and sat near the water. She couldn’t believe that she was at the beach with Sesshomaru, on what could only be described as a date. She took out the food and organized it all before them. She took out the chopsticks and handed him a pair. She couldn’t believe how amazing he looked, in his own settings and in these. Every setting, he was a perfect man. She smiled as he looked at her and leaned over, kissing her cheek gently.
“You are so perfect, Sesshomaru, I couldn’t possibly imagine you being in love with me!” she said silently.
“I thank you for the comment, but I am far from perfect.” He whispered against her ear.
She gasped as he kissed her earlobe, a shock of lightning shooting from her ear to her lower stomach. She felt his lips travel over her ear to her cheek and to her lips. She dropped her chopsticks and returned his kiss as he ran his fingers over her side and up to her cheek, brushing her breast as he did. She began to whimper into his mouth, her arousal spiking to the point of near pain. His lips left hers and began to travel to her throat and to her pulse along the edge of her jaw. She closed her eyes, letting the sensations take her away. She felt him pull her against him and she let her head fall back. His lips roamed all of her exposed skin, while his hand traveled over the rest of her body. “S–Sesshomaru!” she gasped as he nipped and suckled her collarbone and throat.
He pulled away and looked at her, she was flushed and panting. “Yes?” he asked, his face neutral, but his eyes burning with passion.
“I’ve never–I haven’t done anything like this before.” She whispered, gaining her voice.
“I understand. But would you allow me to court you?” he asked as he stroked her face.
“I didn’t want to stop, I was just–I’m surprised at how fast we’re going.” She said.
He leaned forward and urged her to lay back. “Let me relieve some of that tension.” He whispered as he kissed her again, and, making sure there was no one around, his fingers wandered up to the top of her slacks. He slipped a hand beneath them and stroked her thigh, only after a soft whimper, did he slip his fingers between them, finding that she wore a soft cotton pair of underwear, he began to rub gently, causing her hips to arch into his hand.
She was immersed in the sensations, his fingers were so talented. She moaned as he pushed aside her panties, and slipped a finger between her folds, gliding it gently against her clit, causing her hips to jerk. She gasped as he slowly slid a finger into her wet channel. It felt so good, she nearly cried. He began pumping his finger slowly and she gasped as he trailed hot kisses from her neck up to her mouth. He added another finger and she almost screamed from sensation. “Oh! Kami! Sess–it feels so good!” she barely whispered as she imagined what his mouth would do in place of his fingers.
‘She’s so tight… I wish I could taste her!’ he almost moaned at the thought, when suddenly, he felt the ripples of her orgasm start, and he added a third finger as she screamed into his mouth. ‘I want her!’ he groaned inwardly at the tent in his business pants that was rapidly growing.
He leaned up off of her and slowly removed his fingers as she panted, letting her head fall to the blanket they’d spread out. “Was that sufficient?” he asked, causing her to laugh hoarsely.
“Y–yeah!” she gasped as she rolled on her side towards him.
