Chapter 5

Tired

Kagome had just spent the whole day wrestling with kids. They thought it would be funny to dog pile on her. She wasn't expecting for them to be so rowdy. Since she hadn't gotten any sleep that night she fell down faster.

As much as she wanted to yell at the kids she just laughed with them. They didn't know she didn't get much sleep. She couldn't blame them. They're just kids. That's how she spent the next hour.

After the kids got tired of running around they settled for coloring, with crayons. She wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. After the finger painting incident yesterday she had taken the paints home so it wouldn't happen again.

She noticed Shippo was coloring by himself. Most of the kids had at least one friend. He didn't have any. She knelt down next to him and looked at what he was drawing. "That's a nice picture." She said.

Shippo jumped and hovered over the picture to hide it. He blushed and tried to hide the picture more. "It's just a stupid picture." Shippo said. It was a picture of a girl in a skirt.

"It is not." Kagome said. "Is it supposed to be someone?"

"Hai." Shippo said.

"Who is it supposed to be?" Kagome asked. She noticed how he shrunk away from her in embarrassment. "Come on you can tell me."

"It's you." Shippo said.

"Well I think you did a good job. In fact the picture looks better than I do." Kagome said.

Shippo's face brightened and he looked at the picture. "I'm not done with it yet." He said.

"I hope you finish I want to see it again when it's done." Kagome smiled.

"Hai." Shippo said. He immediately went back to work on it. He'd always thought Kagome was nice. She always tried to cheer him up.

When the kids left had to be the worst part of the day. She was once again running around trying to get the kids to put their coats on or find something one of the kids brought. She ran trying to make sure none of the kids took anything that didn't belong to them.

Shippo was the last one left again. She was about to ask him about Inuyasha but the phone rang. She went over to the counter to answer it. "Hello."

"Hey Kagome. You're still at work huh?" Sango said.

"Hai, one of the kids is still here and I can't leave until his guardian gets here." Kagome said.

"Oh well is it that runny nose kid?" Sango asked. She had stopped by one time when one of the parents was late. The kid had gotten snot all over her jacket.

"No, it's Shippo. You remember Inuyasha is taking care of him." Kagome said.

"Oh so the jerk is the late one?" Sango asked.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"Well Miroku, Rin, and I want to know if you want to come to dinner with us before we head to the bar." Sango said.

"I don't know I was going to go home." Kagome said. She needed to get some sleep.

"Oh come on we haven't been able to hang out for awhile and it's Miroku's treat." Sango said.

"I never said that Sango." Miroku protested.

"Shut up." Sango said. "Will you come?" She pleaded.

"Sure where are we going to meet?" Kagome asked.

"I'll come by now and we can walk there together." Sango said. "Ahh hentai." Kagome heard a slap.

"Come on Sango we're together now." Miroku said.

"That doesn't mean you can just grab me like that." Sango said. "Oh sorry Kagome I'll come by now bye."

"Bye." Kagome said. She hung up the phone and went to check up on Shippo.

"I'm done." He said.

"Can I see?" Kagome asked. He nodded. She walked up to him and looked at the picture. He had colored the background and added some trees and a sun. "You are very talented Shippo."

He blushed. "Thanks." He said.

"Oi, Shippo." Inuyasha walked in.

"Inuyasha look what I did." Shippo said. He showed Inuyasha the picture of Kagome he colored.

"Good job runt. Who's it supposed to be?" Inuyasha asked.

"Kagome." Shippo said. He put the picture down and went to get his stuff.

"He's very good at drawing." Kagome said. "That's what he usually does."

"Ah." Inuyasha said. "Sorry I was late again."

"It's ok." Kagome said.

"Kagome!" Sango yelled from outside.

"Hey Sango." Kagome said.

"You look tired Kagome are you ok?" Sango asked.

"I'm fine." Kagome said. "The kids just decided to dog pile me today."

"Well just let me know when you're ready to go." Sango said. "I have to use the bathroom."

"See you later." Inuyasha said.

"Bye Kagome." Shippo said.

"Bye." Kagome said. When Sango came back from the bathroom she locked up and they left. They walked to the restaurant.

They were led to a table in the back. Miroku and Rin were already sitting down. "Hey Miroku, Rin." Kagome said.

"Hey Kagome. You look tired." Rin said.

"I'll survive." Kagome smiled.

"Oh did Sango tell you Sesshomaru is joining us?" Rin asked.

"No she didn't." Kagome said.

"Oh that's right. Sorry I saw Inuyasha and forgot." Sango said.

"Inuyasha is coming too." Miroku said.

"He's coming?" Kagome asked.

"Hai. Why is there a problem?" Miroku asked.

Kagome wanted to yell out that he was a jerk but decided not to. He was Miroku's friend and she couldn't help it if she didn't like him. "No, everything's fine." She said.

Miroku lifted an eyebrow but said nothing. He noticed Sesshomaru and Inuyasha heading towards their table. "Hello Inuyasha, Sesshomaru." He said.

They both muttered hey and sat down. Sesshomaru sat next to Rin, which left Inuyasha to sit next to Kagome. Kagome tried not to show any sign of discomfort. It was really hard not to. First she went to dinner with them when she could be sleeping and now she had to sit next to Inuyasha.

Dinner went by fast. The conversations were great. Kagome hadn't said more than two words during the time. No one noticed but Inuyasha. He hadn't said much either. Sango was busy yelling at Miroku about his wandering hands. Rin and Sesshomaru were in a deep conversation.

After Miroku paid for dinner, they all left to go to the club. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru decided to go with them. Inuyasha didn't have anything better to do and Sesshomaru wanted to talk more with Rin.

Miroku as usual talked to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru while Sango, Rin, and Kagome got stuck getting things ready. He just didn't want to do any of the work. Ever since they started coming to the club Miroku had been ignoring his work.

"Miroku are you ever going to do anything?" Sango asked.

"Sure I will. I'm just talking to them." Miroku said.

"You had all of dinner to talk to them." Rin said.

"She's right." Sesshomaru said.

"Fine I'll help." Miroku said. He started bringing in the glasses.

Kagome yawned as she wiped the last table. "Kagome you seem really tired." Sango said.

"Yeah your eyes are red." Rin said.

"Oh well I guess I need to get some eye drops." Kagome said. She grabbed her purse and walked into the bathroom.

"She's ignoring us again." Rin said.

"We can't really do anything. She won't listen to us." Sango said.

"Oh that reminds me. I got you new uniforms." Miroku said walking back into the room with a box.

"Again?" Rin said.

"They aren't going to be like last time are they?" Sango asked.

"Well...why don't you try them on." Miroku said. "I was thinking of getting a different uniform every night."

The girls eyed him suspiciously but grabbed the box and went to join Kagome in the bathroom.

"They are exactly like last time aren't they?" Inuyasha asked.

"Hai." Miroku bent his head down in defeat.

"You'll never learn." Sesshomaru said.

All three girls came out of the bathroom. None of them said a thing. They just glared murderously at Miroku. The uniforms this time were leather. They had arm warmers, a short skirt, high heels, and a leather tank top that showed a great amount of their stomach and as usual cleavage.

"How do you like them?" Miroku asked in a small voice.

"You know I kind of like them." Rin said dropping her look.

"What?" Sango yelled.

"Well once you get past the revealing part it's kind of cute." Rin said.

"I have the craziest sister." Sango said.

"I think they are too revealing. What if one of the parents from the daycare saw me in this?" Kagome said. "What would they think?"

"They'd think you dressed like that in front of the kids." Inuyasha said.

"I do not and you know it." Kagome said. "You've come in plenty of times and I was fully clothed."

It was true. She usually wore long skirts and a blouse. Nothing revealing. Inuyasha liked her classy look. But at night he liked her skimpy outfit look. Anything she wore would probably look good on her. He shook his head of the thoughts.

"Hey people are starting to come in. Shut up and get to work." Sango said.

Kagome sighed and went behind the bar. It's not like she enjoyed wearing the outfits or anything. She was just stuck with it. That thickheaded jerk didn't understand.
