Chapter 22
Meeting Mom
Everything was done and put away. Now all Kagome had to do was talk to Miroku about getting another couple of days off. “Miroku can I talk to you for a minute?” Kagome asked.
“Sure.” Miroku said.
Kagome noticed everyone was staring. “Can we go into the VIP room? It's a bit more private than out here.” Kagome asked.
“Sure.” Miroku said.
They walked into the VIP room and Kagome shut the door. “I wanted to ask if I could have another couple of days off.” Kagome said.
“What days do you need off?” Miroku asked.
“The next two days.” Kagome said. “I'm going to visit my family in Osaka.”
“Sure you can, say hi to your family for me.” Miroku said.
“Hai, arigato.” Kagome said. They walked out of the room.
“Hey Kagome, where'd you go yesterday?” Sango asked.
“Yeah, you left and didn't tell anyone.” Rin said.
“I went to see my family.” Kagome said.
“Oh.” They both said. They knew about how her grandfather acted towards her so they didn't ask questions.
“I'll talk to you guys later.” Kagome smiled. She walked out of the club and found Inuyasha leaning against his car.
“Want a ride?” He asked.
Kagome nodded her head. She had to talk to him anyway. As much as she hated him to have him meet her mom she did promise. “So, are you going to tell me where you went?” He asked.
“Can we talk about it when we get to my apartment?” Kagome asked.
“If you want.” Inuyasha said. They were silent for the rest of the ride. Inuyasha stopped the car in front of the building and got out. They walked to the elevator and then to her door.
“Do you want something to drink?” Kagome asked.
“No, I'm fine.” Inuyasha said.
They both sat down on the couch. “I went to visit my mom and brother in Osaka.” Kagome said.
“Why didn't you tell anyone?” Inuyasha asked.
“My mom wants to meet you. So I came back early to invite you over. I have the next two days off.” Kagome said ignoring his question.
“Your mom wants to meet me?” Inuyasha asked. Kagome nodded. “So we'd be there for the next two days?”
“Hai, she's already set the guest room up for you.” Kagome said. “You don't have to go if you don't want to.”
“I'll go.” Inuyasha said. “I wouldn't mind meeting your mom.”
“Are you sure?” Kagome asked.
“I already said I'd go. When do we leave?” Inuyasha asked.
“Be ready at ten.” Kagome said.
“Ok. I'll come by after I'm done packing and I'll come get you and we'll drive. There's one problem though.” Inuyasha said.
“What?”
“Shippo.”
“You can bring him. My mom won't mind. He can play with my brother, Souta.” Kagome said.
“Well, I better go get packed then. The runt is going to keep me awake all night.” Inuyasha said.
“I hope you don't fall asleep in the car while your driving.” Kagome laughed.
“I won't.” Inuyasha said. He got up and walked to the door. Kagome walked with him.
“Hai. Just make sure you don't, ok?” Kagome said. Inuyasha bent down and kissed her. He tightened his hold on her before letting go.
“I'll be here at ten with Shippo.” Inuyasha said before he left. Kagome shut the door and went into her room. She had to pack some clean clothes. She also had to call her mom in the morning to tell her she was coming, and that Shippo was coming.
When she was done packing she set her suitcase by the front door and set her alarm. She changed into her pajamas and crawled into bed. Hopefully her mom would like Inuyasha. Not wanting to worry about it she went to sleep.

The next morning Kagome woke up to her alarm clock. She shut if off and got out of bed. She went into the bathroom and took a shower. She got out and changed. When she heard the phone ring, she went to answer it.
“Moshi moshi.” Kagome said.
“Hi Kagome. Did you ask him?”
“Hai, he'll come. He's coming by at ten and he's bringing Shippo. I'll tell you about him later.” Kagome said shaking her head at her mother's bluntness.
“That's great! Everything is set up for you.” Ms. Higurashi said.
“We'll be there sometime this afternoon.” Kagome said.
“Bye.” Ms. Higurashi said.
“Bye.” Kagome said and hung up the phone.
Kagome checked everything again. Everything she needed was there. A knock on the door made her jump. She went to go answer it. “You're early.” Kagome said.
“Yeah? Well, blame the runt, he was driving me nuts.” Inuyasha said.
“Kagome!” Shippo yelled. “Arigato for inviting me.”
“Your welcome, Shippo.” Kagome smiled.
“Are you ready?” Inuyasha asked.
“Hai, I already told my mom.” Kagome said. Inuyasha nodded and grabbed her bags. “You're packing light.”
“I have a lot of things in Osaka.” Kagome said. “My room is almost as I left it.”
They all got in the car after Inuyasha shoved her bags in the trunk. Kagome told him the easiest way to get to Osaka and they left. “Do you have any brothers or sisters?” Shippo asked.
“Hai, I have a brother, Souta. He's ten.” Kagome said. “He has lots of video games you can play with.”
“Really?” Shippo said. He was excited.
Kagome smiled. “Hai.”

Inuyasha parked in front of the shrine. “You lived at a shrine?” He asked.
“Hai.” Kagome said.
“Look at all those steps.” Shippo said. “How do you walk up them all the time?”
“After a while, you get used to it.” Kagome said. “Don't worry I'm sure Inuyasha won't mind giving you a piggy back ride.”
“Like I'm going to carry the runt and the bags.” Inuyasha said.
“Onegai.” Kagome said smiling.
Inuyasha sighed. Like he could turn that look down. He bent down in front of Shippo. “Get on.” He said.
“Arigato!” Shippo said as he jumped on Inuyasha's back.
Kagome grabbed her bag and they all walked up the steps. She knocked on the door. Her mom answered. “Kagome!” Her mom said and hugged her. She looked behind her at Inuyasha and Shippo. “Come in.”
They all walked in the house. “You can set the bags down by the door.” Kagome said. Inuyasha nodded and set them down. They all walked into the living room and sat down on the couch.
“Mom this is Inuyasha, and Shippo.” Kagome said.
“Hello, it's nice to meet you.” Her mom said. “It's good that Kagome finally found a boyfriend.”
Inuyasha smiled. “Nice to meet you to.”
“Mom I'm home!”
“Souta, come here and meet Kagome's boyfriend.” Ms. Higurashi said.
Souta walked into the room. “This is Inuyasha and Shippo.” She said.
“Hi.” Souta said.
“Hi.” Inuyasha and Shippo said.
“You're the one going out with my sister?” Souta asked.
“Hai.” Inuyasha said.
“Hey Shippo do you want to play video games?” Souta asked.
“Hai.” Shippo jumped up.
“They're in my room, come on.” Souta said.
“Not even five minutes and they're already friends.” Inuyasha said.
“Is he your son?” Ms. Higurashi asked.
“No, I'm just looking after him. His parents died a while ago.” Inuyasha said.
“Oh, that's horrible.” Kagome's mom said. “Well, your probably hungry. I'll make some dinner. Kagome, why don't you show them where the guest room is?”
“Hai.” Kagome said. They grabbed their bags and walked upstairs. She set her things in her room and then went to the guest room. “This is the guest room.”
The room was a decent size. The walls were painted white. The bed in the corner of the room had white sheets. There was a window next to the bed. “It's nice.” Inuyasha said. He set his things down. “Where's Shippo going to sleep?”
“He'll probably share a room with Souta.” Kagome said. “If not, he can sleep in one of our rooms.”
“Ah. Your mom is nice.” Inuyasha smiled.
“Yeah.” Kagome said. “She just wanted to meet you and wouldn't leave me alone until I promised I'd ask if you would come.”
“It's nice to meet your family.” Inuyasha said.
Kagome smiled and they walked back downstairs. “What do you want to do until dinner is ready?” Kagome asked.
“Do you mind showing me around?” Inuyasha asked. Kagome grabbed his hand and took him outside.
