Chapter 57

Evaluation

A half an hour later a knock at the door was heard. Kagome stood up and answered it. "Are you Higurashi, Kagome?" A lady asked.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"My name is Korin. I'm here to evaluate Shippo's living conditions to see whether or not you are able to adopt him." The lady explained.

"Hai, come in Korin-sama." Kagome stepped out of the doorway so she could walk in.

"Where is his bedroom?" Korin asked.

"Back here." Kagome said. She walked down the hallway and showed her inside.

The whole house was examined and Korin looked through everything. "Now all I need to do is ask some questions. Just to verify some information." Korin said. "Where do you work?"

"I don't work. I inherited a lot of money from my parents when they passed away. I'm financially secure for life." Inuyasha said. "Kagome doesn't work."

Kagome just went with him on that and didn't argue. He still wanted her to quit and she wasn't going to do it. "What is your relationship?" Korin asked.

"We're dating." Inuyasha said. "Why do you need that information?"

"Well in case of separation Shippo needs to stay with one of you afterwards. We find out now so later there aren't any problems." Korin explained.

"We don't plan on separating." Inuyasha said.

"I know no one plans on separating but we need to know which one will take care of Shippo if you split up."

"I'll take him. I'm his legal guardian anyway." Inuyasha said. A little mad because it seemed like the lady didn't like him and she kept hinting that their relationship was going to fail.

"That's all I need. You'll get a call later today when the information is evaluated." Korin said and stood up.

Kagome stood up and showed her to the door. "Thank you." She said and shut the door. "You lied and said I didn't work."

"What's your point? You don't need to be working there anyway." Inuyasha said. "Technically you're not working right now."

"As long as we get Shippo I'm fine." Kagome sat down. "Shouldn't you be picking him up?"

"Damn I forgot." Inuyasha grabbed his coat. "I'll be back soon."

While Inuyasha was gone Kagome had called Rin and Sango to tell them what happened. They were happy that they worked things out and wanted to go out to dinner later that night. She was supposed to call them later and get information about it.

Inuyasha walked in the house with Shippo jumping up and down around him in circles. "Will you shut up?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Why are you yelling at Shippo?" Kagome asked.

"He's been mimicking me ever since we got in the car." Inuyasha said aggravated.

"'He's been mimicking me ever since we got in the car.'" Shippo mimicked.

"Sango and Rin want to go out to dinner or something tonight." Kagome said.

"I'll call Miroku and Sesshomaru then." Inuyasha said. He walked over to pick up the phone but it rang first. "Hello."

"Inuyasha, I'm opening the club tonight and I need Kagome there." Miroku said.

"The girls wanted to go out to dinner."

"I know but the club has been closed long enough. I already have outfits ready for them."

"They aren't going to be happy but whatever."

"I'm opening the club at nine. I'm guessing you'll be there. I'm sure you'll want to see Kagome in her outfit."

"Shut up." Inuyasha said and hung up.

"Who was that?" Kagome asked.

"Miroku called. He's opening the club tonight. He needs you in tonight at nine." Inuyasha picked up the phone again.

"Who are you calling now?"

"Myoga. Someone needs to watch the runt."

"Oi!" Shippo protested at being called a runt. "At least I'm not a jerk."

"Arguing isn't going to solve anything." Kagome said.

Kagome and Inuyasha both walked into the club. Everyone else was already there. "You're here." Miroku handed Kagome a bag. "Your outfit is in there."

"Hai." Kagome went into the back room with Sango and Rin to change into their outfits.

"So what's so special about these outfits?" Inuyasha asked.

"Well you're attracted to Kagome's innocence right?" Miroku asked.

"Why?" Inuyasha looked at him suspiciously.

"You'll see." Was Miroku's only reply.

A couple minutes later the girls came out from the room. They were wearing angel outfits. Each girl had a halo above their head and wings on their back. They were wearing white tube tops and a short white skirt. They had on white boots.

Inuyasha's jaw dropped again at the sight of Kagome. The outfit only enhanced her innocence. Now he knew what Miroku was talking about when he asked if he was attracted to her innocence.

"I don't see how this is angel like." Kagome said.

"I don't see how angels would dress this skimpy." Sango said flatly.

"It's cute though." Rin smiled.

"She would like the outfit." Sango rolled her eyes.

"People are walking in. I bet they missed you girls." Miroku said.

"I hate you Miroku." Sango raised her fist.

"You do not!" Miroku held his hands up to shield himself.

"Come on Sango you don't want to kill him yet." Kagome grabbed her hand and walked her over to the bar.

"You're saved for today hentai!" Sango yelled as she was being dragged away.

"Let's go before she kills me." Miroku said and quickly walked to the VIP rooms.

Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Miroku all left the VIP room to get some drinks. Kagome had already asked if they wanted anything and at the moment they didn't but they changed their minds.

"What are you guys doing out here?" Rin asked.

"We wanted something to drink." Miroku said.

"What? I was just in there." Kagome said coming from behind the counter.

"I didn't know you were there." Inuyasha said a little stunned.

"So you snuck back over here to get a drink so I wouldn't know?" Kagome put her hands on her hips.

"Kagome you're still working here?"

Everyone turned to their right to see who said that. "Kouga!" They all said in shock. He was supposed to be moving.

"You bastard!" Inuyasha yelled and raised his fist.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome shouted and jumped on his back.

"I don't appreciate you trying to hit my fiancé." A girl walked from behind Kouga and into view.

"Eh?" Inuyasha lowered his fist.

"That's why I'm moving." Kouga explained. "I'm moving in with Ayame, my fiancé."

"What are you doing here?" Kagome asked.

"I'm responsible for that. I just wanted to meet the girl who broke his heart." Ayame smiled. "I heard this club was great!"

No one really knew what to say. Ayame seemed a little air headed but strict. They couldn't really explain it. "Are you really going to stay on Inuyasha like that the whole night?" Ayame asked.

"Gomen." Kagome apologized as she slid off Inuyasha's back.

"Well we're leaving tomorrow. I'll be sure to send wedding invitations." Ayame said. "Even though I don't know you that well."

"Arigato." Kagome said. "It was nice meeting you. I have to get back to work."

"I understand. Nice meeting you too!" Ayame said. She suddenly got angry as Kagome was walking away and hit Kouga on the head. "Don't look at her like that!"

Kagome stopped and turned around. "What?" She asked.

"You pervert bastard! You have a fiancé and dare to look at my girlfriend?" Inuyasha shouted as both him and Ayame started hitting him.

"I wasn't looking I swear!" Kouga had his hands raised trying to defend himself.

"That sounds like something Miroku would say." Rin said.

"I would agree." Sesshomaru said.

"What's going on?" Kagome asked still clueless.
