Chapter 004 - Cold, Yet Soft, Amber Eyes

Kagome heaved a heavy sigh as she walked through the stone hallways, a few locks of the black hair pulled over her shoulder as her fingers toyed with it lightly and her eyes traced some of the walls. She was utterly confused as to where she was in the castle. She has left from talking to Inuyasha and had not paid much attention to her direction of step until she had found that she was lost.

This place is like a maze…She thought with a little discomfort as she felt a chill go up her spine. It felt like a pair of dagger sharp eyes was following her with every step.

She wrapped her arms around herself and rubbed her upper arms lightly, since a cool breeze had started to blow, teasing the flames of the candles that lined the hallway.

Her scent lingered down the lone halls toward the familiar nose of the elder Prince. The scent was calming and seemed to be of some sort of lavender and wildflowers, and a certain untamed scent. He could not figure it out what puzzled him about this strange but luring human girl.

He hated humans. Didn't he? He could not quiet figure out what his mind kept telling him, he only knew he wanted to follow her luring scent but the thought was only shook from his head when a small hand grabbed his and he stared over to see a small human girl, it was Rin.

"Hello Sesshomaru-sama!" She said happily and sent a bright smile up at him, but only received a sigh in return.

"Hello Rin…" He said and stared down the slightly dark hallway as the candles blew out one by one by the breeze. I have to figure out what this feeling is…And why I have an urge to follow that girl. He thought a hint of annoyance in his sigh as he turned and started back down the hallway.

"Sesshomaru-sama wait for Rin!" She yelled and ran after him, skipping lightly as she followed him once she caught him.

He only spared her an over the shoulder glance as he walked and then he turned his amber eyes to the cold stone floor he walked on. I have to figure this out before it drives me to the brink of killing someone…Or something…He thought as he clenched his fist, his needlepoint claws scraping against his palm lightly.

Well it is boring but at least they are not mean…Kagome thought as she sat on a bench that was on the balcony of her room. She sighed and looked out over the forest and a slight smile came to her face, a quick glance of crimson caught her attention to the castle guards when she noticed that it was Inuyasha her smile quickly turned to a scowl.

He was so insufferable. She had tried to help him, but no. He had to be stubborn. After her angry thoughts, she sighed once more and stood and then she leaned over the railing and stared down at the hanyou curiously. Her long locks of black hair falling down over her shoulders.

Why won't he tell me? He always seems so sad…All the time. He shows angry but I can tell its more sadness…She thought sadly and softened her gaze as she watched him with a sad frown on her lips.

Inuyasha walked angrily as he clenched his fists lightly but firmly and glared around the castle grounds until he made his way to a part of the castle's protection wall that he could see out without being yelled at by one of his family for trying to escape, again.

"What's wrong, Inuyasha?" Miroku asked as he walked over and looked down at the now crouching hanyou.

"Nothing…" He said grouchy and kept his gaze away from the monk's.

"There has to be something," Miroku said and sighed heavy as he walked around so Inuyasha had no choice but to look at him. "You shouldn't have treated that young maiden that way, Inuyasha." He said and looked at him with a hint of confusion on his face because of Inuyasha's silence.

"Feh…" Was all Inuyasha said and he looked down at the ground in front of him. "I'll treat her the way I want to…She doesn't deserve any special treatment." He said with a huff.

"Inuyasha you have a lot to learn…" Miroku said and tapped his staff against Inuyasha's head lightly. "Oh," He said to get Inuyasha attention to a new arrival to their outside party.

"Hello," A young woman, dressed in a black body suit and pinkish armor in certain places on her body and a large bone boomerang flung over her shoulder so it could be carried on her back. "What's wrong with Inuyasha?" She asked curiously, as she looked over at the hanyou and frowned lightly. Her long dark brown hair lying over her shoulder as she bent over and looked at his face with her bright brown eyes. "What's wrong?" She asked in a sweet tone.

"NOTHING!" Inuyasha growled out, leapt up, and glared at the two. "Dammit would everyone stop asking me what's wrong!" He snapped, turned, and stormed back into the castle leaving a confused and startled Sango and Miroku.

"What's wrong with him?" Sango asked while looking over at Miroku, ignoring the hanyou's growl of angry at her before.

"I have yet to figure that out Sango…" Miroku shrugged and let a sighed escape his mouth. "Perhaps he will tell us in time…" He said defeated and started back toward the castle himself and then waited for Sango and the small cat demon on her shoulder Kilala.

The small cat demon on the young woman's shoulder made a soft meowing sound as it looked up at its master who seemed to be slightly worried. She made a soft purr as she rubbed her head against Sango's cheek and a small what seemed like smile showed over the small cat demon's mouth at the smile that her master gave her.

*~*~*~*~*

Damn stupid humans…They worry about things that do not matter to them. I swear I will kill that Miroku if he does that again…And even that stupid wench that Naraku sent over asked me. She does not even know me! Inuyasha cursed as he stormed up the stairs to his room, but to his surprise, he ran into someone and he reached out and grabbed their shoulders since that was his sudden instinct.

A sudden shiver went over him when he looked down into a pair of blue eyes, and he seemed to freeze in their stare.

"I'm sorry M'lord…" A soft innocent voice said, and brought him from his trance as Kagome looked down slightly worried at what might be done to her now that she had almost ran over the Prince of the Western Lands.

He just stared at her for a minute then he made his normal `feh' sound and let go of her shoulders and moved back. "Watch where you're going next time wench!" He said annoyed, turned some, walked around her, and continued toward his room. Not noticing the odd stare he was receiving from Kagome as he retreated.

She let a soft smile grace her lips as she thought. I think he is finally starting to open up…A little. She continued when his bedroom door slammed and she was surprised it did not fall flat to the floor.
