Yeah! My first review. :) *does a happy dance* Ahem, Now back to the story. P.S. Sorry for the shortness of the first chapter

When they landed on the roof of Kagome's house Inuyasha gently let Kagome off his back and they both sat down. After a few minuets of silence Kagome asked the air,

 

”I never gave them a reason so why are they still afraid of me? And I saved them too!”

Her confusion and hurt were almost tangible as she sat there.

 

”People are afraid of people and things that are different, that they don't understand.” Inuyasha responded, thinking about his past and what had happened to him. It irked him that others would make her upset and surprised him that it would be because they feared her.

 

”They might not be this way once the shock of what happened wears off.” Inuyasha told her in an attempt to comfort her.

 

”Do you think so?” Came the hopeful, tear filled response from the girl beside him. At his nod Kagome threw her arms around his neck and his arms automatically came up to embrace her. She thanked him for making her feel better about the whole thing.

 

After a few comfortable moments spent that way they simultaneously realized the position they were in and moved back, both blushing.

 

”Maybe we should tell Mama what happened?” Kagome asked not really wanting to move.

 

”Feh. Probably should.” Inuyasha replied, he wasn't crazy about leaving the retreat of the roof yet either. They climbed in through Kagome's bedroom window and she finally notices what he's wearing.

 

”Where did you get those clothes Inuyasha?” She asked while thinking that she would have gotten him into to modern clothes sooner if she had known how good he would look. Inuyasha looked at the strange (to him) clothes that Mrs. H. had called blue jeans and a T-shirt. He nervously said,

 

”Your mom got these and showed them to me last time I came here while you were at school. She said I should wear them around the shrine so I wouldn't draw as much attention. Why do I look stupid?” The last part was asked in a half challenging, half nervous tone.

 

”No, no, no.” Kagome assured him quickly, ”You look very nice.” Both of them tinted pink at the compliment. Inuyasha just fehed and turns around saying,

 

”Whatever. Like I care.” Kagome shakes her head and decides to change the subject.

 

“Inuyasha would you go and get Mama please. I want to change.” Inuyasha looked at her and it was either the pleading tone or the puppy dog eyes that got him. All he said was ”Feh.” And stalked through the door, down the stairs to where he could hear Mrs. H, the kitchen. She was busy getting dinner ready now that they have a hungry hanyou over. (can you imagine your mom being so calm about it? Mine would freak.) So when Inuyasha walked in he explained.

 

”I'm back and I brought Kagome. She wants to talk...” Just then the doorbell interrupted him.

 

”Could you get that Inuyasha?” Mrs H. asked distractedly. Inuyasha went and as he was walking past the hall table he noticed his hat. He pulled it over his ears, grumbling the whole time.

 

When he opened the door he saw three girls waiting there. Their mouths dropped when they saw him standing there, all thinking how hot he was. Inuyasha interrupted their thoughts when he angrily asked,

 

”What the hell do you want?” Inuyasha recognized them from his trips before and he thought they were there when he rescued Kagome earlier. Eri spoke up in a decisive tone,

 

”We want to talk to Kagome.” Inuyasha was already pissed because Kagome was upset and they are part of what upset her so he in turn demands,

 

”Why?”

 

He felt something odd. His demon was stirring,

 

*Why are we not with our mate?*

 

'She wanted us to go and tell her mother we are back so she could change. And she is not our mate'

 

*Not yet. And you are an idiot. If she is changing...*

 

'You listen to Miroku way too much.' The vehemence in Inuyasha's tone had stunned the girls long enough for the odd conversation to take place, but not long enough to give Inuyasha time to think about why it happened. Eri spoke up again,

 

”We want to talk to her not you!” Though she spoke angrily Inuyasha could smell a slight bit of fear coming off the three of them.

 

”I'll see if SHE wants to talk to YOU.”

 

With that Inuyasha closed the door and went to Kagome's room and knocked. When she gave her consent he entered to find her packing for what looked like an extended trip to the past. Inuyasha was happy, happier than he would admit, with the preparations.

 

*Now we won't have to worry about her leaving us for awhile* InuDemon said with satisfaction. Just as Inuyasha was about to reply Kagome noticed him standing there and asked,

 

”Inuyasha, who's at the door?”

 

”The three girls who talk too much. They want to talk to you.” Inuyasha tried to hide his emotions behind a gruff voice.

 

”Will you come with me? Please Inuyasha.”

 

How could he say no? He nodded and followed her to the front hall. Inuyasha hung back a little to give the girls some room.

 

”Hey guys.”

 

”Hi Kagome” the three chorused. Then Eri started talking again.

 

”We wanted to apologize for earlier. We were shocked 'cause we didn't know you could do that.” She paused as if waiting for Kagome to say she didn't either, it would be a long wait. After the pause the three looked a little nervous; but Eri held up two letters.

 

”These are for you. One from school and”(dramatic pause)”One from Hojo.” She winks at Kagome. Kagome sighed,

 

”Guys don't you get it. I like Hojo as a friend but nothing more. Please stop trying to push us together.” The three girls looked a little ticked off and Eri, still the spokesperson snapped,

 

”Why? Are you too good for normal people now that youre all special?”

 

”No, its not like that. Its just that I want a relationship where the other person will understand me.”

 

”Oh, so we, your best friends, and Hojo can't understand you but your two-timing boyfriend can. I can see why you want to keep him, he is hot. But what happens when he leaves? You'll have no one because we refuse to be friends with someone so stuck up and who thinks they are so special when all they are is a freak.” Then the trio stormed off.

 

Kagome fell to her knees in a state of shock and Inuyasha was there in an instant. He was torn, he wanted to stay and make sure Kagome was alright but he also wanted to go after the trio. Just then Mrs H. walked in and gasped running to her distraught daughter.

 

”Stay with her.” Inuyasha commanded and ran after the trio.

 

 

Sorry about the cliffhanger but I have to go study for my college exams.
