InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Change, the Only Constant ❯ Shock and aww ( Chapter 8 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Because this is my first fic I never realized until now why reviews were so important. After receiving some I now know that they really make your day! So thanks to everyone who reviewed. Now I'll shut up and get on with the story.

Disclaimer: Wishing on stars still hasn't given me ownership of Inuyasha.

“Let's find out what's going on.” Kagome said before walking in the direction of the shout. They found the commotion in the town's market. At the center were a girl of about fourteen and a man in his mid-twenties. The group arrived in time to see the man, who had a hand print to rival the ones Miroku gets from Sango, backhand the girl. She fell to the ground from the force of the blow. Kagome pushed through the crowd, ran to her and crouched down to check if she was okay. When Kagome saw the girl's face she gasped.

“Rin!” This caught the attention of the rest of the group. Rin said

“Kagome” in a voice that was slightly muffled because her head was buried in the older girl's shoulder. The man looked pissed and told Kagome,

“Stupid wench get away from her. I want her to be my servant so I will take her to my place.” Inuyasha was abruptly in front of the man with a clawed hand around his throat and in a deadly quiet voice that still managed to reach those around them warned,

“Don't insult those that are better than you, especially her. Also, be glad the one who protects that girl you slapped didn't see you. Because if he had you would die horribly.” The man did his damnedest to look indignant rather than scared and asked,

“Do you know who I am? I am the lord of this area.” Inuyasha looked at him with contempt and informed him,

“You are a shitty lord. Lords are supposed to take care of their people.”

“What would you know filthy half-breed?” Was the man's response.
Inuyasha then registered Rin crying and Kagome comforting her. Inuyasha sneered while continuing,

“I suppose I should tell you, she is the ward of my half-brother and you pale in comparison to him on all counts. Now, we are still in the Western lands so on behalf of my brother, Sesshomaru of the West, for harming his ward and insulting one of my pack members.” Inuyasha drew back his fist and punched the man who was knocked unconscious then walked to the others.

Sango was over with Kagome helping Rin and Miroku was standing by them to ensure that no one attacked when they were distracted. When Inuyasha reached them Miroku suggested dryly,

“Maybe we should leave now.” The rest agreed. As they left whispers could be heard like,

“Unnatural group, a monk and a demon slayer traveling with demons.”

“Filthy half-breed.”

“Demon's whore.”

A very depressed party left the village with Shippo commenting,

“Geez. I bet only because they were scared of Inuyasha they didn't attack us or something.” Inuyasha pulled Kagome off to the side and started talking earnestly but dejectedly trying to get his point across.

“I know we both meant what we said, but that will be the typical reaction we get if you are with me. I don't want to cause you any more pain than I have already.” In response Kagome hugs him while telling him,

“Remember Kaede's village? Everyone there respects us and most even like us. Besides,” she continued in a haughty voice, “I don't care what others think.”

Shippo completely ruined the moment by jumping up and hugging them both around the neck. They blush and spring apart leaving Shippo to land on the ground before he could comment.

“Aww. Shippo why did you have to do that? It was just getting good.” Miroku complained and soon found himself being smacked by a red faced Sango at the same time as Inuyasha was chasing Shippo to bop him on the head. Everyone was startled out of an ordinary, at least to them, scene by a giggling Rin.

“I'm glad you're feeling better Rin but why were you in the village in the first place?” Kagome inquired.

“Lord Sesshomaru sent me to get some new clothes while he took care of some business else where. I am supposed to meet him by the river later.” The bubbly, talkative Rin was back to the relief of everyone.

“We should go with you in case that awful man comes back.” Came the firm statement from Kagome, all but Inuyasha agreed.

“Like Hell! I don't want to see that bastard.”

“Sit!”

When released from the spell Inuyasha looks up to see Rin being escorted by the others. He catches up still grumbling under his breath about the whole thing. When they reach the river the girls find a secluded spot to bath in. Rin is surprised by, but appreciated the modern bathing supplies and they spend sometime talking and relaxing. Rin finds she enjoys having some girls to keep her company for a change because only having Jaken to talk to could get boring.

From another direction a fearsome demon lord smelt his brother and his brother's pack with Rin, his ward. He walks through a forest on his way to confront his brother about why he is there and possibly pester him some.

After some thought Sesshomaru decided to give up on acquiring the Tetsuiga because he couldn't use it and didn't need it as he was powerful enough already. He walked in a straight path not caring if anything got in his way. When he pushed through some bushes three shocked girls scream, which brought Inuyasha and Miroku running to find out what was wrong. Immediately three males were being pelted with the rocks that lined the river bottom. The males, wisely, beat a hasty retreat while the girls dried off and got dressed.

Hope you enjoyed it.
