Once it was decided that they had accepted the job discussion turned to their plans. Sesshomaru told them it would need to be made official and to do that they must go to his castle in the West.
“Excuse me Sesshomaru, but could I go visit my family before we do? I have not seen them for a while.” Kagome tried the puppy dog eyes that seemed to work so well on his brother. The stoic demon lord raised an eyebrow but didn't comment on it as he answered.
“I need time to prepare for you anyway. Brother you should have Myoga teach your pack and refresh you on court behavior. You will need it at my castle and in the field.” Inuyasha nodded,
“I'll do that. At dawn we can go our separate ways.” He looked relieved as he said this, it had been a very strange day and he still wasn't sure how to act with his brother now that they weren't attacking each other.

Sunrise found two silver haired men watching over their respective people as the forest around them was waking up. Everything seemed so peaceful, so maybe it wasn't so surprising that the silence between them was a comfortable one. When he decided that they had slept long enough Inuyasha jumped from his tree to where Kagome and Shippo slept, which happened to be right below him. He leaned over them and his shadow caused the kit to awaken.
“Hey runt, want to start the fire for breakfast?” Shippo grinned at being deemed mature enough to take on tasks around camp, if not old enough to be a lieutenant, and ran off to do as his father figure suggested. Kagome had woken up during the exchange and smiled affectionately after her adopted son, then turned her eyes and smile on the man crouching beside her.
“Good morning Inuyasha.” The hanyou in question grunted but gave her a small smile admiring the way the suns early rays gilded everything around making everything seem sort of surreal. He had thought about it last night how his life had turned around, he had gained friends and acceptance, confessed to and been accepted by the one he loves, learned to control his blood and gained his brother. And all of it was due to the ethereal creature before him. Shaking his head to clear it of the odd thoughts circling through it he focused on what needed doing.
“Can you wake Sango?” She nodded and crawled out of her nice warm sleeping bag. Inuyasha went to get Miroku. When everyone was up and breakfast eaten camp was broken quickly and efficiently, a testament to years of practice. As they were about to leave Sesshomaru turned to Inuyasha;
“You remember the way?”
“Yes. We'll be there in a week, week and a half.”
“Indeed. The official event will be in two weeks then. That should give you enough time to get there and become familiar with what will happen.” With that he walked away from the group and the rising sun. It was a beautiful day for traveling, the sun was out yet it wasn't too hot, and so the travelers enjoyed the walk.
Kagome opted for a quick hello to Kaede before she left for the well, leaving the others to explain their new position.
When she got to her time she heard quite a bit of commotion outside the well house. Opening the door a crack she looked out and her jaw dropped. There were so many people there.
`Since when did the shrine become so popular?' She could see her Grandfather, Mother and Brother all in traditional clothes walking amongst the people. Souta and Mrs.Higurashi seemed to be keeping them away from the well house and the house proper while Gramps was doing priestly things.
`I don't want people to see me until I figure out what is going on. But how am I going to get to the house?' Kagome tried to come up with a plan, and saw some other kids from her school wandering around. `At least my outfit won't give me away. If I put my hair up and keep my head down I might make it.' That decided Kagome took a hair tie from her bag tied her hair in a bun then leaving the bag she stealthily made her way. She stayed on the edge of the crowd and tried to be as unnoticeable as possible. Her goal was almost reached when,
“Excuse me you can't be here miss.” She turned to see her mother who gasped. By now they had the attention of others. Both women were trying to come up with something to say, for different reasons. Souta was there and piped up loudly for the benefit of the eavesdroppers.
“Hello cousin Yukari. It is nice to see you again. I'm sorry but Kagome isn't here right now.” The boy emphasized the last part while his sister looked at him like he had grown two heads. Mrs.Higurashi ran with the story.
“He's right dear. I'm sorry I didn't recognize you. You must be tiered from your journey, why don't you come inside?” The woman firmly guided her “niece” to the house. When they got inside Mrs.Higurashi let out a relived sigh and sagged against the door.
