I apologize for the wait and the amount of dialogue in this chapter. It was a difficult chapter for me to write so I hope it is good and you enjoy it.

It was a perfect day to be outside. The sun was shining, there was a nice breeze, the birds were chirping. Everyone was happy, except for a group of seven gathered at the base of the Goshinboku. They were engaged in a thing most hated on days like that. They were having lessons. Important, life saving lessons but lessons none the less.

“The first thing you must know is dominance is important. If someone challenges your dominance you are seen as weaker, even if you win, just because of it. You gain dominance by winning challenges and having people follow you. The strength of those who follow you is important as well. If you have fewer but stronger people in your pack you may be more dominant than someone with more but weaker people.” Myoga looked around making sure everyone was listening.

 

“It does not weaken you, however to admit to the dominance of your alpha. So Do Not question Sesshomaru-sama because not only does it weaken him it implies that you don't believe he is capable of leading.” The flea glared at his master before continuing. He need not have worried.

 

`I'll never admit it to anyone but the prick is a good leader.'

“Likewise the rest of us must follow master Inuyasha's lead because he is our alpha.” The humans looked a bit startled at first but then Miroku made a good point,

 

“We do pretty much that anyway.”

“Yes but when in official settings while advice may be given you cannot question his decisions.” He waited until he got the nods he was looking for before going on.

 

“Watch what you say and show as little emotion as possible.”

“Why?” Kagome blurted.

“I was getting there.” The flea demon was now sounding annoyed with the interruptions but said nothing to that effect.

 

“Too much crude language is seen as the mark of a less intelligent being. As for emotions they can and will be used against you.

“Don't let yourself get pushed around, stand up for yourself. But don't go around challenging a lot of people. In fact don't challenge anyone unless there is a reason.” Inuyasha looked a little miffed at the thought of less fights, but he knew the reason. To challenge lots of people looked like you were trying to prove something and if you did that you weren't confidant in your status which lead to others not being confidant in your status as well.

“On the other hand,” Myoga continued, “do not decline any challenges.”

“What if they are way stronger?” Shippo tossed out looking nervous.

“Then they wouldn't challenge you runt.” Inuyasha gruffly told him. “It is no good to challenge someone much weaker than you, discipline is okay though. Not to mention that the other person's alpha can step in.” Myoga nodded.

 

“Thank you master Inuyasha. The last few rules are simple but no less important. You must use the proper honorifics, thus use Sesshomaru-sama.” He looked at Inuyasha, “Unless he gives you permission to call him brother.” Inuyasha scoffed.

 

`That would mean actually acknowledging me as officially part of the family. Not likely.'

“And you must also wear the clothes that Sesshomaru-sama gives you. Any questions?”

“Nah but I do have something to say. Kagome do you want to adopt the runt?”

“What does that have to with anything? Not that I don't want to. I'm just curious.” She hurriedly asked the last part upon seeing the crestfallen look on the kit's face.

“Keh. If you do then we have to do something that will show he's your pup. Birth parents don't have to because it is obvious but there is more involved with adoption. And while we're on the subject you have to let me discipline him or it is the same thing as questioning me.”

“If you don't hurt him too much I can handle it. But what is involved with adopting?”
Myoga spoke up when Inuyasha looked at him to explain.

 

“Well official adoption is done when the child is old enough to chose weather they want it or not because it creates a bond that will last for life, like that of a bond between parent and child. What happens is that both parties will cut their palms and hold their hands together for awhile. When the cuts heal they will turn into matching marks so that people will be able to tell their relationship.”
Kagome and everyone else looked to Shippo.

 

“Well what do you say Shippo? Would you like me to adopt you?” Kagome was anxious herself, she had thought of the kit as her own for a long time now.
“You don't mind having a demon as a son?” He asked quietly.

“Of course not.” She responded lovingly as she gathered him in her arms for a hug.

 

“Why don't we do it now? Then the marks will be there when we get to Sesshomaru-sama's place.” Shippo grinned up at her and nodded. Sango got out a small dagger to use but Inuyasha shook his head.

 

“We'll use my claws to do the cutting. It means that I knew about it and approved.”

“Using your claws makes a difference?” The slayer asked.

“Yeah. It means that when they heal the symbol of my pack, what ever that is, will be in the design too. Then it'll be obvious whose pack they belong too.”

“I had a thought master Inuyasha. What if you do a pack bond with everyone?”

“What's that Inuyasha? Is it like what Shippo and I are going to do?”

“Yeah except that it'll change you. You humans will live longer than normal, not as long as Shippo and I but probably fifty to a hundred years longer than most humans. And you'll heal faster because you'll have some of my blood in you. Still want to?” His companions nodded. “Alright. Lets do Kagome and Shippo first.
