[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

I apologize for the format of the other chapters. I didn't have them in the right format when I uploaded them. This format still isn't perfect but it is definitely better.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha Rumiko Takahashi does.

“Are we there yet?”

“GRRR! If you ask that one more time I am going to hurt you!” Inuyasha threatened the fox kit who hid behind his unsympathetic mother. Kagome just sighed, she didn't think Inuyasha should threaten Shippo but he wasn't the only one getting tired of the question.

“Over that rise.” Inuyasha said, sighing in both relief and surrender.

“What?”

“When we top the rise we'll be able to see the place.” He grumbled obviously not thrilled at the prospect.

*You forget. We are not as helpless as we once were. And this time we are not alone.* Inuyasha grunted in acknowledgment, his other side had a point he mused as he glanced behind him at his pack. The fact that he had a pack, that they had agreed to it, still sent warmth through him.

*It is a great thing isn't it. And it is not just them, Brother welcomed us this time.*

“Come on. Let's keep moving.”

When the group topped the rise four gasps were heard. Inuyasha rolled his eyes at the reaction to his family home.

~It is an impressive sight.~

It was as a sprawling one story manse surrounded by a nine foot granite wall. The wooden manse had gardens on the western side filled with trees, many kinds of flowers and even a maze of hedges. The group made their way to the north wall which contained the entrance. Upon reaching the gate a challenge was called out.

“Who are you and what business do you have here?” One of the two guards from the top of the wall called out. The gang looked up at what appeared to be twin cougar youkai.

“We are here to see the Lord of the West. We are expected.” Inuyasha responded in a cool tone. The guards looked at the group then at one another. The one that had not spoken nodded and disappeared from sight. A few minutes later he popped up again nodding in his brother's direction.

“You may enter.”

“Thank you.” Kagome said as they passed. The twins looked at her in surprise but bowed slightly. Before she could think what that meant Jaken appeared in front of them, lumps and all. Shippo chuckled,

“What happened to you?” Inuyasha growled at him and he clamed up instantly not looking at anything from his perch atop Kagome's shoulder.

“WHAT!!!” They all spun toward the west, where the noise had come from, ready for battle.

“My Lord!” Jaken squeaked and ran off in his odd gait, followed closely by the Inu pack.

When they reached a room with an open window that they could see Sesshomaru through they stopped. Sesshomaru was advancing on another Inu youkai with short black hair.

“You question this Sesshomaru?” The occupants of the room had yet to notice the new arrivals.

“When you think of offering a position let alone this one to a half-breed?” The term was obviously meant as a slur given the tone. “I think I have the right to wonder!”

“You had better watch how you address this Sesshomaru. I am your alpha.” Sesshomaru's cold voice was off set by the low growl issuing from his throat. The other youkai snorted as if in disbelief and almost as soon as the sound was heard someone's throat was caught in a vice grip that raised their feet from the floor. It wasn't Sesshomaru.

“If you have a problem with me perhaps you would say it to my face?” Inuyasha stood there with his arms crossed with Sango on his right, Miroku to his left and Kagome with the kids behind him and slightly to the left. Everyone turned to look, Sesshomaru turned sideways so both he and Kin could see.

“Welcome little brother. I had meant to great you and yours in a different manner but circumstances prevented that.” If the Taiyoukai was experiencing any strain from holding Kin up it did not show in his voice.

“I thank you for the welcome brother. I understand the circumstances and as they have to do with me might I speak with the one you are holding?” The others had to hide their surprise at the formal speech that the usually gruff hanyou used. As Inuyasha jumped through the window he motioned for the others to stay there. Sango and Miroku kept an eye on the other lords while Kagome kept Shippo and Rin calm.

“This one is Inuyasha. Who are you?” He asked as he approached the other youkai who shook slightly with anger.

“I am Lord Kin. And as a matter of fact I do have a problem with you. You are a Half-breed.” Kin made it sound as he thought his objection explained everything.

*Perhaps we should prove we are stronger than he is?*

~And that we are a good choice for the job.~

`Agreed.' Lord Kin was the first to notice the change in the hanyou before him, his sudden take of air drew the attention of the others. For a moment Kiyoshi and Akiyama just stared then,

“What the hell is going on?” Akiyama asked harshly turning to Sesshomaru.

“I am no ordinary hanyou.” Inuyasha growled out as an explanation. “I am here at my Brother's request. Perhaps you would hear the rest before you judge?”

“Inuyasha!” Shippo yelped from outside. Inuyasha couldn't look away from Kin's challenging gaze and the Lord smirked knowing this. Inuyasha wasn't worried he knew, from his demon side mostly, that his brother wouldn't let harm come to his pack if they had trouble dealing with it themselves, so he grinned maliciously back.

Outside some of Lord Kin's men had heard his shout and came to see what was wrong. Upon seeing some humans outside the conference room they surrounded them. As the guards approached Sango heard a noise and glancing around to investigate discovered their situation.

“Miroku!” She hissed, not wanting to distract Inuyasha, and spun to face the threat. Miroku turned to fight as well. Shippo yelped as Kagome made sure to put herself between the danger and the kids.

May St. Patrick guard you wherever you go,
and guide you in whatever you do--
and may his loving protection be a blessing to you always.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
