Chapter 8

A Happy Souta

The rest of the week went by fast. Nothing happened at school. Kagome ran upstairs and plopped down on her bed. Tomorrow was Saturday. She had to take Souta to the carnival. She could hear him yelling from downstairs.

"Nee-chan." Souta ran into her room and jumped up and down on her bed.

"Souta." Kagome yelled. "Get off my bed."

"We're going to the carnival don't forget." He said. He jumped up and ran out of her room.

Kagome sighed and went downstairs. She called Sango and asked if she wanted to go to the mall. She waited for Sango to call her back when she was ready.

When she called, Kagome got into her car and drove to Sango's house. Sango walked through her front door and into Kagome's car. They listened to music on their way there.

They walked through the mall doors. "So what made you call me?" Sango asked.

"No reason. Just thought we could hang out." Kagome said. "Besides I need some clothes and Inuyasha would just whine."

"That's true." Sango laughed. "I was going to call you to see if you wanted to go to the mall tomorrow."

"I wouldn't have been able to." Kagome said as she looked through some clothes. "I have to take Souta to the carnival."

"Oh yeah I remember you telling me about that." Sango said. "I hope I never get caught in a situation like that."

"At least you're used to Miroku's perversion." Kagome said. "Inuyasha just developed it a while ago."

"He's been spending to much time with Miroku." Sango said.

"I guess so. I hope Miroku perverted ways don't rub off on you too." Kagome giggled.

"Don't worry it won't." Sango said.

They looked through some more stores and bought a lot of stuff. They could barely carry it. "How are we going to get these bags to your car?" Sango asked.

"I don't know." Kagome said. "I was having too much fun shopping and didn't think about how heavy they would be."

"Now I know why we bring the guys to the mall." Sango sighed.

"What guys?" Someone said from behind them.

Kagome and Sango both jumped. They turned around to see Inuyasha and Miroku. "What are you guys doing here?" Kagome asked

"Miroku needed to buy his mom a birthday present. Since Sango wasn't home he called me." Inuyasha said.

"Oh." Kagome said.

"What guys were you talking about?" Inuyasha asked.

"Now that you guys are here." Kagome and Sango handed their bags to the guys. "We need to stop one more place." Kagome said.

"Don't move we'll be right back." Sango said.

"I told you we shouldn't have come." Miroku said.

"I didn't see all the bags they had." Inuyasha said.

"Is this all we're useful for?" Miroku asked. "Carrying their bags?"

"Guess so." Inuyasha said.

Kagome and Sango walked over to the guys a couple minutes later with two more bags each. "Don't you have enough?" Inuyasha asked.

"Well we were going to stop one more place." Kagome said. "But we thought we'd give you a rest."

"All I came here for was to keep Miroku company and I end up carrying bags around the mall." Inuyasha said.

"We're done now so let's go to my car." Kagome said. As they were walking out of the entrance she saw Naraku.

"Hello Kagome." He said.

"Hi Naraku." Kagome said.

"I hope you gave Inuyasha my message." Naraku said.

"Message?" Kagome thought.

"Hai, about my little battle for you."

"Oh yeah well I told him." She said.

"Back the fuck off Naraku she's already mine." Inuyasha growled.

"It's not fair that she has only went out with you. I'll show her in time that your worthless and I'm everything she could dream of." Naraku said and walked into a store.

Inuyasha kept growling. "When will you ever learn to let it go?" Kagome said and started walking to her car again.

"He's threatening to take you away." Inuyasha said.

"It's not like he'll win." Miroku said.

"You know better than that." Sango said.

"You guys I'm right here you know." Kagome said.

"We were just trying to reassure him." Miroku said.

They all finally made it to Kagome's car. The bags were shoved in the trunk. "I'll see you tomorrow at ten?" Kagome asked Inuyasha.

"Hai, I'm going to kill that brother of yours." Inuyasha said.

"Bye Miroku. Call me." Sango said. "Tell your mom happy birthday for me." They drove away.

"We carry all those bags and we get nothing." Inuyasha said.

"That's the way of women." Miroku said.

Inuyasha hit him on the head. "It's all your fault you know." They argued about whose fault it was while going home.

Kagome went home, ate dinner, and did her homework for the weekend. She decided to go to sleep early so she wouldn't be so tired when she woke up the next morning. Knowing Souta he would wake her up hours before she needed to be up.

Just like she thought Souta ran into her room and jumped on her. Then he jumped up and down on her bed until she chased him out of her room.

She got dressed and went downstairs to get something to eat. She ate a light breakfast and waited for Inuyasha to pick her up. She had an hour before he came to pick them up.

Souta played video games until Inuyasha knocked on the door. He shut the games off and ran to the door. He swung it open and threw himself at him. He knocked Inuyasha to the ground.

"Hey what if I wasn't who you thought I was?" Inuyasha asked.

"Then I would've knocked down the wrong person." Souta said. "Nee-chan lets go already."

Kagome walked out of the house. "Souta you shouldn't knock him down like that. But since today is his fault do whatever."

"Oi." Inuyasha said.

"So who's paying for everything?" Souta asked.

Inuyasha sighed. "I guess I am." He was the one to get her in trouble so he was the one to be most punished. He had a bad feeling about today.

When they got to the carnival Souta dragged them to the ticket booth. They all bought ride tickets and walked through the gates. Souta was really hyper that day. What kid wouldn't be hyper when his hero was taking him to the carnival?

"Lets go on that ride." Souta said and dragged Inuyasha with him.

"I'll stay behind." Kagome said. The ride was only for two people.

After about ten rides Souta said he was hungry. Inuyasha had a hamberger, curly fries, and a drink. Kagome got a corn dog and a drink. Souta had two corn dogs, curly fries, and a drink.

While the food was settling they went to play games. Souta played the ring toss game and won a little stuffed animal, which he gave to Kagome.

"Arigato Souta." Kagome said.

Inuyasha played a shooting game and gave his prize to Kagome. He said all of the prizes were too girly. By the time they got tired of playing games Kagome ended up with ten stuffed animals.

Inuyasha and Souta went on some more rides while Kagome waited for them. After about six rides Souta felt sick and stopped. They all sat down on a bench and waited for his nausea to pass.

It passed as soon as Souta saw some cotton candy. After eating the cotton candy they decided it was enough. Kagome and Inuyasha were tired. Eight hours of running around was enough for them.

Inuyasha dropped Kagome and Souta off. "Arigato." Souta said and ran into the house to tell his mom about his day.

"Arigato Inuyasha. Even though it was your fault we were there to begin with." Kagome said.

"Will you let it go already? I'm sorry." Inuyasha said.

"No your not you…" Inuyasha kissed her. All day he wanted to kiss her but too many people were watching. He thought he would die if he didn't get to feel her soft lips.

He tilted her head back and deepened the kiss. His tongue battled hers for dominance, which would never be won by either teen. He moved to her neck to let her catch her breath.

Kagome put her hands on his shoulder and gently pushed him away. "I don't want Souta to come see and have him blackmail me anymore." Kagome laughed.

"Hai, I'll call you tomorrow." He said. "I love you."

"I love you too." Kagome said and walked in her house. She put all the stuffed animals on her shelf and went downstairs.

"Did you have fun Kagome?" Her mom asked.

"Hai." She said.

"I'd hope so. Souta kept talking about it. He only stopped when I told him to take a bath."

"I bet the conversation is far from over." Kagome said.

"Kaede called and said she would like to keep training you."

"I thought I was done." Kagome said.

"You are. She just wants to keep your body used to it and teach you some exercises. She said if you don't do it you could hurt yourself."

"Oh did she tell you when she wanted to start?" Kagome asked.

"I think Monday after school like usual." Her mom said. "You should call her tomorrow to make sure though."

"Hai." Kagome said and walked into her room. She changed into her pajamas, brushed her teeth, and got into bed. She fell into a deep sleep.
