Chapter 11

Kagome's Sick

The next day Kagome woke up with a cold. She felt like crap. Her nose was runny, she had a sore throat, and she was coughing a lot. She had forgotten to close her window because she was so angry.

Her mom walked into the room. "Oh dear. You look terrible Kagome." She said. "You should stay home."

"I don't think you could've gotten me out of bed anyway." Kagome said.

"I'll go pick up some cough medicine before I go to work." Her mom said. "I wish I could stay to take care of you but today's really important."

"Don't worry about it. I'll probably take the medicine then sleep all day." Kagome said.

"All right I'll be back." She said.

"If you see Inuyasha…" Kagome started.

"I'll let him know you're sick." She said.

"Arigato." Kagome said. She pulled the covers up over her head and went to sleep.

Inuyasha walked up to the house and knocked on the door. He thought it was weird because Kagome usually waits for him on the shrine steps. `Maybe she's late.' He thought. When no one answered the door he walked in. Souta and Kagome's mom should have left already.

He walked upstairs to Kagome's room and knocked. No one answered. `Had she already gone to school?' He wondered. But her car was on the road. He opened the door and peeked inside. "Kagome?"

He heard a moan. He looked to the big bundle on the bed. He walked over to it and pulled the covers down. "Kagome." He whispered.

"Okaa-san?" She said.

"Iie, it's me Inuyasha." He said.

"Inuyasha?" She mumbled. "You're supposed to be in school."

"So are you. Why didn't you tell me you were sick?" Inuyasha asked. He felt her forehead. She was burning up.

"Gomen." Kagome said. "I went right back to sleep when I woke up. Don't worry about me go to school."

"I'll come over after school." Inuyasha said. "Ok?"

"Hai, arigato." Kagome said and she fell back asleep.

Inuyasha walked out of her house and into his car. He drove to school. He was probably going to be late but he didn't care. He was going to be worried all day now that she's sick.

He walked into his classroom. He was only five minutes late. "Where's Kagome?" Sango asked.

"She's sick." Inuyasha said.

"Oh." Sango said and then turned her attention to the front of the room. Kagome rarely got sick so she was going to be worried too.

The rest of the day went by slowly. Inuyasha went to check on Kagome during lunch. She was still sleeping and her fever hadn't gone down at all. He got in his car and headed towards Kagome's house.

He knocked on the door to see if anyone was home. Kagome's mom had given him a key when he stopped by during lunch to see her. Her mom was going to be running late and Inuyasha offered to watch her after school until she got home.

When no one answered the door he took out the key and unlocked the door. He walked upstairs to her room. She was still in the last position she was in before he'd left earlier. He walked back downstairs and got some water and her medicine.

When he got back to her room he shook her gently. "Kagome."

Kagome mumbled something about being tired. He shook her again. "Kagome, you need to take your medicine." He said.

Kagome opened her eyes. "What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Your mom's going to be late today and I offered to take care of you." Inuyasha said.

"You'll get sick too."

"Youkai don't get sick." Inuyasha said.

"Liar." Kagome said. "Arigato." She took the medicine and drank the glass of water. She plopped back down on her bed.

"I'll be right here if you need anything." Inuyasha said. He leaned against her bed.

Kagome groped his head trying to find one of his ears. When she found one she rubbed it. "I'll be fine." She mumbled.

Inuyasha turned his head toward her hand and let out a content growl. He relaxed a little and ended up falling asleep.

A couple hours later he heard the door slam. "I'm home." Souta yelled. He had just gotten back from soccer practice.

Inuyasha walked downstairs. "Inuyasha!" Souta yelled excitedly.

"Shh. Kagome's sick." Inuyasha said.

"Is she ok?" Souta asked.

"She'll be fine she just has a fever." Inuyasha said. "Your mom will be home late."

"Hai." Souta said. "I'll make some soup for Kagome then."

"Is it good to eat soup when you're sick?" Inuyasha asked. Since he was half demon he never got sick.

"I don't know." Souta said. "Soup is the only thing I know how to make."

"Oh." Inuyasha said. He walked back upstairs. He felt Kagome's forehead again. Her fever was going down. Now he just needed to take her temperature.

He woke her up again and told her that Souta was making soup for her and that she needed to take her temperature. "Your fever's almost gone." He said.

"Good, I feel like crap." Kagome said.

"You sound a lot like yourself." Inuyasha chuckled.

Kagome hit him. "Why must you harass me? I'm sick."

"I'm not harassing you." Inuyasha said. "Is that how you treat people who take care of you? You hit them?"

"Only you baka." Kagome said. Souta walked in with her soup. "Arigato." He walked out of the room to do homework. Kagome ate her soup and laid back down. She tried to get up but Inuyasha stopped her.

"What are you doing?" Inuyasha asked and pushed her back down.

"I need to go to the bathroom." She said.

"Oh." He said. He watched her walk out of the room. When she came back in she grabbed her blanket and started walking out the room. "What are you doing now?"

"I'm going downstairs. I can't sleep anymore so I'm going to watch TV." She said.

Inuyasha sighed. He wrapped the blanket around her, picker her up bridal style and walked downstairs. "I could've walked you know." Kagome said.

"Yeah right and have you fall down the stairs." Inuyasha said. "You've got to be kidding me." He sat down on the couch and laid her head in his lap. They both watched TV for a while before Kagome fell asleep again.

Ms. Higurashi walked into the house and saw the two asleep on the couch. She checked Kagome's forehead. Her temperature seemed to be gone. She looked at Inuyasha. His head was resting on the back of the couch while one of his hands was on Kagome's shoulder.

She turned the TV off and went into the kitchen. She decided to make some dinner while they slept. She smiled at the fact that Inuyasha cared enough for her daughter to take care of her while she was sick.

Inuyasha woke up to the smell of food. His mouth watered at just the smell of it. Ms. Higurashi walked in the living room. "Oh you're awake. I was just about to tell you dinner was ready. By the look on your face you already know. Can you wake Kagome up?" She asked.

Inuyasha nodded and she left. He hadn't realized he'd been drooling at the smell of the food. He patted Kagome's shoulder. "Kagome wake up it's time to eat dinner." Inuyasha said.

Kagome rolled over and mumbled something he couldn't hear. He realized that her face was facing something it probably shouldn't. Knowing she would get embarrassed or mad he tried to move her away.

Kagome woke up. She was being shoved away. She opened her eyes and then wished she hadn't. She got up and blushed. "Gomen." She said.

"Feh." He said. He could care less if her face was there but she was sick so he decided not to harass her about it. "Your mom said dinner was ready."

Kagome's stomach decided to let out a growl just as he finished saying that. Her face turned an even brighter red. "Right on time." Kagome said.

They both walked into the kitchen. "Kagome are you feeling better?" Her mom asked her.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be here to take care of you." She said. "I'm sorry for making you do it Inuyasha."

"You didn't make me I just wanted to make sure she'd be ok." He said.

"Arigato." Kagome's mom said. "Well let's eat."

After dinner Ms. Higurashi cleaned up. Kagome's temperature was back to normal. Inuyasha was just about to leave. "Arigato Inuyasha." Kagome said.

"I'm just glad you're feeling better." He said.

"Why can't you be this nice all the time instead of a hentai?" Kagome teased.

"Because you secretly like it." Inuyasha smirked and grabbed her backside. Kagome swatted his hand away.

"I'll let you get away with that this time, but only because you took care of me." Kagome blushed.

"Does this mean I'll get a gift for taking care of you?" He smiled lecherously.

"Mou, you hang around Miroku too much." Kagome said.

"Do I?" He asked again.

"I'll think about it." Kagome said seductively.

"Really?" He asked.

"No." Kagome shoved him out the house. She leaned up and kissed him. "Arigato." She said and shut the door.

"Damn." Inuyasha said and walked to his car.
