Chapter 13

A Serious Chat

The next day Kagome woke up and jumped in the shower. When she was done she got dressed and went downstairs to eat breakfast. When she was done she grabbed her bag and went to her car.

When she reached the bottom of the shrine steps Inuyasha pulled in with another car. He smirked at her. Kagome got in the car. "This isn't yours is it?" She asked.

"No, it's Sesshomaru's. I'm just borrowing it for today. I'm going tomorrow to get a new car since it's Saturday." Inuyasha said. He leaned over and kissed her.

Kagome kissed him back. "So you still don't know who did it?"

"No, Sesshomaru is going to talk to the school." He said.

"Why is he doing all this stuff for you?" Kagome said.

"Because I told him I'd drive his car off a bridge if he didn't." Inuyasha smiled.

"Liar." Kagome said. The rest of the ride to school was silent. Kagome met Sango at the school and walked with her while Inuyasha and Miroku followed behind them.

"That's not your car is it?" Miroku asked.

"No, some bastard totaled my car yesterday after school." Inuyasha said.

"Oh do you know who did it?" Miroku asked.

"No." Inuyasha said.

Kagome and Sango stopped walking so Inuyasha and Miroku could catch up. "Do you guys want to watch a movie tomorrow?" Sango asked.

"I guess." Inuyasha said.

"As long as you are there I will follow." Miroku said.

"Wait a minute what movie?" Inuyasha asked.

"You'll see tomorrow, and no backing out you already said you'd go." Kagome said.

"We'll call you tonight with the rest of the details." Sango said. They ran to class without them.

"Why do I feel like we made a big mistake?" Inuyasha said.

"They'll probably make us watch some girly movie." Miroku.

"I knew I shouldn't have agreed without asking why first." Inuyasha said as they made their way to class.

The rest of the day was boring and uneventful. Naraku and Kouga hadn't shown up to class so nothing happened. The worst thing was Kikyo wouldn't stop staring at Inuyasha. He was the only one bugged by that.

Kagome was going to meet Inuyasha at his car. She had forgotten something in her locker. She saw Naraku walking by. She tried to ignore him and make it seem like she didn't even see him. Didn't work.

"Hello Kagome. I didn't get to see you today." Naraku said.

"Hi Naraku." Kagome said. She grabbed her book and headed for the parking lot. He stopped her.

"I wanted to give you this." Naraku said. He handed her a red rose.

"Why would you want to give me this?" Kagome asked. She took the rose.

"As I've told you before I like you." Naraku said and walked away.

Kagome sighed. Now he was giving her stuff. Inuyasha was going to get mad. His jealousy was really getting tiring. She walked to Inuyasha's car. He was sitting on the hood waiting for her.

"Lets go." Kagome said. She got into the car. Inuyasha also got in the car and started driving.

It took him a while to notice that she had a rose in her hand. "Where'd you get that from?" Inuyasha asked.

"No one." Kagome said.

"Don't lie to me Kagome. Who gave you the rose?" Inuyasha asked.

"Naraku." Kagome whispered.

"Nani?" Inuyasha said. He slammed on the brake stopping in the middle of the road. Luckily no one was around to hit him.

"Inuyasha drive. You can't just stop in the middle of traffic because you're mad over something small." Kagome said.

He started driving again. "It's not something small." Inuyasha said. "That bastard gave you a fucking rose and you say it's nothing."

"Can we please wait until we get to my house?" Kagome said. "I don't want to get into an accident."

Inuyasha kept his mouth shut. Boy was he going to let her have it as soon as he parked the car. He only listened to her because he didn't want to get in a wreck. Sesshomaru would probably kill him if he ruined his car.

When he stopped the car Kagome quickly jumped out knowing he was going to start yelling once he stopped. She ran up the steps and into her house. She locked the door and went up to her room. She turned her music up so she couldn't hear him.

Inuyasha growled when he saw her run into the house. He parked the car and put the keys in his pocket. He practically flew up the stairs. He tried the door even though he knew she locked it.

Then he remembered she didn't lock her bedroom window. He knew she was in there with her music on. He jumped on the branch of the tree next to her window. He opened it and snuck in.

He crept up behind Kagome and grabbed her. She screamed in surprise. Inuyasha threw her on the bed and turned the music off. The loudness was hurting his ears. He turned around and pounced on her.

"I really hate it when you do that." Kagome said.

"Yeah well get used to it." Inuyasha said. "What did he say to you?"

Kagome sighed there was no way of getting out of this conversation. "He said hello and gave me the rose."

"Is that all?" He asked. He knew she left something out.

"I asked him why he gave it to me and he said because I like you and he left." Kagome said.

"He said what?" He yelled.

"I can't help what he says Inuyasha. I'm not controlling his every move." Kagome yelled back.

Inuyasha growled. She was right. It's not like it was her fault. That didn't make him feel any better. Kagome rubbed his ears to make him calm down. He closed his eyes and laid his head on her chest. He made sure only his head was on her so he didn't crush her.

"How many times do I have to tell you, you have nothing to worry about?" Kagome said.

Inuyasha decided to ignore her comment. He didn't want to get into another fight. Which was what would probably happen if he chose to answer the question. She must have thought the same thing because she didn't make him answer the question.

Kagome was starting to get used to his actions. He'd become more aggressive lately. She didn't mind. She wasn't as embarrassed as she was yesterday when he laid on her chest. It didn't last long because she needed to meditate.

She forgot again! She pushed Inuyasha off of her and onto the floor. She jumped over his body and ignored his growl towards her. She sat down on the floor cross-legged and started to concentrate.

"Why the fuck did you do that?" Inuyasha barked. "You could've said something instead of pushing me."

"Gomen." Kagome said and concentrated again. Inuyasha sighed and laid on her bed. He stared at her ceiling waiting for the hour to be over.

Before he knew it Kagome was done meditating. He was about to say something but the phone rang. Kagome went downstairs to answer it and Inuyasha followed. "Hello?" Kagome said.

"Hey Kagome it's Sango." She said.

"Hey." Kagome said.

"I called about the movies. What time do you want to go?"

"Hmm. How about we go at noon?"

"Sure that'll be great. I'll tell Miroku now."

"He's over there?"

"Hai, he refuses to leave my house."

"Let me guess he senses an ominous presence in your room?"

"Same excuse as always."

"Sango how about we finish where we left off?" Kagome could hear Miroku say.

"Ne Sango what have you been doing?" Kagome asked.

"Nothing I got to go take out the trash." Sango said. Before she hung up the phone she yelled at Miroku. "Why did you have to say that while I was on the phone?" Then she heard a crash and the line went dead.

"I hope Miroku will be ok." Kagome said as she hung up the phone. "I'm guessing you overheard the conversation."

"Of course I did." Inuyasha said. "Look at the ears. I thought you would have noticed them by now with you touching them all the damn time." He pointed to his ears.

"I know." Kagome said. "They're so cute. I can't help but touch them."

Inuyasha walked over to Kagome and wrapped his arms around her waist. "That's why I touch you." He said.

Kagome's cheeks turned bright red. She walked away from him and back upstairs to her room. Inuyasha trailed her like a puppy. (Couldn't resist that. ^_^)

Kagome laid on her bed and Inuyasha hovered above her. He leaned down and kissed her neck. She let him do what he wanted. Then when his hands started to wander a little too high she stopped him.

"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked. He stopped kissing her neck and looked her in the eyes.

"We can't." Kagome said.

"Why not?" Inuyasha asked with a mischievous look in his eyes.

"Because." Kagome said.

Inuyasha sat up and brought Kagome into his lap. He sighed. "Why do you keep pushing me away?" He asked seriously.

"Why are you so persistent?" Kagome asked.

"I guess I should explain." Inuyasha sighed again. "Youkai take mating very serious, especially Inu youkai. They mate for life. Since I'm an Inu hanyou I'll take a mate for life. I told you I love you. Mating will only bind us together and take our relationship to the last step."

Kagome was shocked. She thought he only wanted to do it for the pleasure. She didn't think there was so much more behind having sex. He was a youkai. She never knew anything about youkai mating.

"Why didn't you ever tell me?" Kagome asked in a whisper.

"I knew you weren't ready." Inuyasha said.

"Why did you keep trying?" Kagome asked.

"I would've stopped. I was just waiting for you to stop me on your own."

"Wait a minute. If we `mated' we would practically be married right?" Kagome asked.

"Hai." Inuyasha said.

"So you weren't going to tell me any of that before we mated?" Kagome asked. "You were going to bind us together without me knowing?"

"It wouldn't have made any difference. I told you I'm not letting you get away." Inuyasha said.

Kagome sat and thought about it. It was true he had said that many times. He was usually so childish at times she couldn't tell whether he was being serious or funny half the time. That's why she was so shocked to hear him say he loved her.

"You never answered my question." Inuyasha said. "Why do you keep pushing me away? If you're not ready I can wait."

"I…" Kagome started saying.

"Kagome we're home." Ms. Higurashi said. "You got a package."

"Hai." Kagome said. "We'll talk later." She left the room. She was happy her mom interrupted her. She didn't want to answer him. To be honest, she didn't even know how to answer him.

Inuyasha sighed. She was avoiding the question. He knew it. Whenever she said `we'll talk later' it usually meant she would avoid it for as long as she could. He walked downstairs.

Kagome started to open the box. There was nothing written on it. The package wasn't that big. She finally got the box open. Inside was a dozen red roses surrounded by white rose petals.

She wondered who sent them. Inuyasha walked in the room. "What did you get?" He asked.

"Look." She pointed to the box. Then she saw a card lying on the white petals. She picked it up and read it.

"Who's it from?" He asked. He was starting to get mad. Who the hell sent HIS girlfriend flowers?

"Promise not to get mad?" She said. He nodded. "It's from Naraku."

He growled and walked towards the door. "Where are you going Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.

"I'm going to go kill Naraku." Inuyasha said.

"You said you wouldn't get mad." Kagome said.

"I'm not mad." He said through gritted teeth.

"You are." Kagome said. He started for the door again. Kagome ran and jumped on his back. "Don't kill anyone."

"Why are you protecting him?" Inuyasha said.

"I don't want you to get hurt or go to jail." Kagome said. She had her arms around his neck and her legs were dangling off the ground.

Inuyasha calmed down a little. "Fine I won't kill him. But if he pulls another stunt like this I can't promise nothing." He said.

"Arigato." Kagome kissed his cheek. She pushed him out the door. "Go home. Remember tomorrow we're going to the movies at noon." She shut the door.

"Maybe I should kill him anyway." Inuyasha said.

"You said you wouldn't." Kagome said from behind the door.

"How did you know I was still here and what I said?" Inuyasha asked.

"I know you." Kagome said. "Now go straight home I'm going to call in ten minutes and I'll be mad if you're not there to answer it."

Inuyasha ran to his car and headed home. She was being sneaky today. First she avoided his questions and now she was making sure he didn't kill anyone.
