Chapter 16

Bonding Time

Ms. Higurashi walked into her daughter's room to tell her she was going to work. She saw her and Shippo cuddled up and decided to just write her a note. She left the house and drove to work.

Inuyasha got to Kagome's house. He waited for a bit thinking she might be late. But when ten minutes passed he walked to her door. He knocked. He didn't get an answer. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out the key to their house.

Kagome's mom never asked for it back and he intended on keeping it until she did. He unlocked the door and walked in. He went upstairs and opened her door. He saw her in bed and thought she might be sick again.

He nudged Kagome with his hand. "Oi, are you sick again?" He asked. Then he noticed something red sticking out of the blanket. He lowered it and found Shippo snuggled up to Kagome. Jealousy hit him full blast. Sure he was a little kid but Kagome never let him sleep in her bed with her in it too.

Kagome woke up and looked at him. "What?" She asked seeing the look on his face.

"We need to talk." Inuyasha said.

"Right now?" Kagome said. "Aren't you supposed to be in school?"

"Get up." He said.

Kagome slowly got up trying not to wake Shippo. She put her robe on and walked downstairs with him. "What?"

"Who the hell is that runt?" Inuyasha said.

"That's Shippo. We took him in because his parents died and he has no other family." Kagome said.

"Why is he sleeping in your bed with you?"

"Because he had a nightmare. Why does it bother you?"

"You never let me do that."

"That's different and you know it."

"How so?"

"Because he's a kid and you're not."

"That's no excuse." Inuyasha said. "So you're not coming to school?"

"No, I'm going to spend the day with Shippo so he can get used to things." Kagome said.

"So I don't get to see you today either?" Inuyasha said with disappointment in his voice.

"Gomen I'll make it up to you when he settles in ok?" Kagome said.

"Really?" Inuyasha said lifting an eyebrow.

"I'm going to regret that aren't I?" She asked.

"It's too late." Inuyasha grabbed her and kissed her. Two days of missing out so he was going to take advantage of the moment. The hands on her waist moved to cup her bottom. Kagome tried to smack his hands away but he growled and squeezed.

"I told you he was your mate." Shippo said from the stairway.

"Shippo." Kagome said after she pulled away from Inuyasha. She swatted his hands away from her butt when she realized he hadn't moved them.

Inuyasha growled at Shippo. Shippo smiled and jumped towards Kagome. She caught him on reflex. "He's mean Kagome all he does is growl at me." Shippo said.

"Inuyasha stop that." Kagome said. "You should be getting to school you're already late."

"Fine I'll let it go this time." Inuyasha said. "I'll see you later Kagome."

Kagome didn't like the way he said that. He was planning something. That usually didn't mean anything good. Something bad always happened.

"I don't like him." Shippo said.

Kagome giggled. "So shall we go back to sleep or eat?"

"Can I still sleep in your room?" Shippo asked with puppy dog eyes.

"Sure." She said.

"Let's go back to sleep." He said. They went back upstairs and slept.

"Inuyasha where's Kagome?" Sango asked.

"She's at home." Inuyasha said.

"Is she sick?" Sango said.

"Iie, she's spending the day with Shippo." Inuyasha said.

"I never would've taken Kagome as the type to handle two men at once. She must have a lot of stamina." Miroku said. He got two hits for his comments. One from Sango and one from Inuyasha.

"You know she's not like that you fucking lecher. Shippo is a little boy her family is taking in." Inuyasha said.

"Oh." Miroku said. "My apologies."

"I didn't know her family was taking someone in." Sango said.

"Neither did I. I'm guessing it happened the other day." Inuyasha said.

"How about we go to her house after school?" Sango said.

"I was going to head by there anyway." Inuyasha said. "What about you lecher?"

"It hurts to be called by such a degrading name." Miroku said.

"Speak English." Inuyasha said.

"Hai, I'll go." Miroku said. "Only if Sango goes."

"I already said I was going. I suggested it." Sango said.

"Oh." Miroku said.

"Must have been all the blows to his head." Inuyasha said. They all walked back in when the bell signaling for lunch to be over rang.

Kagome and Shippo were watching another movie when they heard a knock at the door. She paused the movie and went to answer the door. "Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku I didn't expect you to come by today." She said.

"Well Inuyasha told us about the little boy your taking in and I wanted to meet him." Sango said.

"Are you sure he's not your son?" Miroku said.

"What the hell are you getting at?" Inuyasha yelled.

"I just thought maybe she was hiding her son from us. She is attractive and I wouldn't doubt she's had men ask to bear children for them." Miroku said.

"Miroku I suggest you stop before Inuyasha succeeds in killing you." Sango said.

Shippo raced into the room the minute he caught the hanyou's scent. He got up from the couch and ran to the door and latched onto Kagome's leg like he'd done that morning. "Everyone this is Shippo. Shippo this is Sango, Miroku, and you already met Inuyasha." Kagome said as she pointed to them.

"Aww he's so cute." Sango said.

"We were just watching a movie. Shippo do you mind if they join us?" Kagome asked.

"No, but he can't come." Shippo pointed to Inuyasha.

"Who the hell are you to say that?" Inuyasha yelled. Shippo jumped off Kagome's leg and bit Inuyasha's hand. "Itai, you little."

"Inuyasha, Shippo that wasn't very nice." Kagome said.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"How about we let him watch the movie and if he's mean we'll kick him out." Kagome said.

"Oi." Inuyasha said.

"Hai." Shippo said.

They all walked into the living room. Sango and Miroku sat on the floor while Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo took the couch. Inuyasha had his arm around Kagome and Shippo was sitting on Kagome's lap. Inuyasha growled at him until Kagome shushed him.

An hour later the movie ended and Souta came home. As soon as Souta stepped into the room and saw Shippo he asked if he wanted to play video games. Shippo's eyes lit up and they went upstairs to Souta's room.

"He's cute Kagome." Sango said.

"Yeah he is." Kagome said. "He's seems to be liking it here fine."

"How long has he been here?" Miroku asked.

"Since yesterday." Kagome said.

"Wow he's already so attached to you." Sango said.

"What do you mean?" Kagome asked.

"Well did you see how he grabbed onto your leg and bit Inuyasha?" Sango said. "He was protecting you from that baka over there." She pointed to Inuyasha.

"Oi, that runt is lucky I didn't hit him." Inuyasha said.

"Your such a child sometimes Inuyasha." Kagome said.

"I am not." Inuyasha said.
