Chapter 30

Distractions and Disappearances

The next day Kagome was getting to school. Her and Inuyasha stepped out of the car and met Sango and Miroku. "You're late again." Miroku said.

"Shut up Miroku." Inuyasha growled. He was still in a bad mood from yesterday's phone call.

"Something wrong?" Sango asked Kagome. They all started walking to class.

"No, I'm just thinking. I got this really weird phone call last night." Kagome said. "Someone called and said `You're mine' and hung up."

"Was it Inuyasha?" Sango asked.

"No he was with me." Kagome said.

"Oh yeah. Is he still doing the `never leave you out of my sight thing'?" Sango asked.

"Hai, he still is." Kagome said.

"You have your own little watch dog." Sango said. Both girls laughed.

"Wonder what's going on with them." Miroku said. He saw the girls be serious and then laugh. It was strange how their moods changed so quickly.

"I don't know." Inuyasha said. "They're women. No one knows what the hell they're talking about half the time."

"We heard that!" Kagome yelled angrily. Her and Sango glared at them murderously before turning back.

"They can always hear you when you're talking about them." Miroku said.

"Sometimes it seems they have better hearing then I do." Inuyasha said.

"Wouldn't doubt it." Miroku mumbled.

They all walked into class and took their seats. As usual sensei was late. He'd been late everyday for a whole month. Kagome almost laughed when Kikyo walked in the classroom with a huge bandage on her nose.

The bandage was white except at the bottom where it was red. It probably bled every once in a while. She had a metal piece attached to it to keep her nose aligned. Kikyo looked back at Kagome and glared at her.

"I have to compliment you on your work. That must've been a good shot." Sango whispered to Kagome.

"Arigato. I think it was a masterpiece." Kagome said.

"Wish it could be framed." Inuyasha said.

"Too bad she's still alive." Miroku said. "I think she'd make a nice head piece for your room."

Finally the sensei walked into the classroom. He muttered his apologies and started the class on their work.

The bell rang signaling the end of school. "Hold on I have to use the bathroom." Kagome said. Inuyasha nodded and waited with Miroku and Sango.

She'd just got done washing her hands when a thick miasma slipped in through the vents. Kagome coughed and tried to leave the bathroom but passed out before she could reach the door.

Inuyasha was talking to Miroku and Sango when Kikyo walked up to them. She tapped Inuyasha on the shoulder. "I still think you should go out with me." She said.

"I don't go out with weak girls." He said harshly.

"I'm not weak." Kikyo said.

"Yeah you are. Kagome took you down on one punch." Inuyasha said. "Besides I've already chosen Kagome. I love her."

"Why chose her when you could have me? I'm prettier than her." Kikyo said.

"Kagome is a million times more beautiful then you'll ever be." Inuyasha said. "I already told you I love her."

"You'll lose her to Kouga or Naraku." Kikyo said.

Inuyasha growled at hearing their names mentioned. "They won't get near her. I'm protecting Kagome." He said.

"Then where is she now?" Kikyo asked.

"She's in the bathroom." Inuyasha said.

"Are you sure?" Kikyo smirked.

That caught his attention. Inuyasha took off towards the bathroom. Miroku and Sango followed soon after. He ran in without thinking and looked around. "Kagome!" He yelled. He couldn't smell, see, or hear her. No one was in the bathroom.

"FUCK!" Inuyasha yelled.

"What's wrong?" Sango asked as she ran in.

"Kagome's gone." Inuyasha said. "I don't smell her anywhere. All I can smell is miasma."

"Anyone could've used that." Sango said. "Do you think she was kidnapped?"

"I highly doubt she's hiding from us." Inuyasha said.

Miroku walked in. "Is everything all right?" He asked. They'd been in there a long time so he decided to go in.

"Kagome's gone." Inuyasha said.

"Gone? Who took her?" Miroku asked.

"If I knew that I would've gone after them dumbass." Inuyasha yelled.

"Maybe Kikyo knows. She did say something about being sure she was in the bathroom." Miroku said.

"You're right." Inuyasha said. He ran out of the bathroom.

Sango and Miroku followed him as fast as they could go. "He seems unusually calm about this." Sango said.

"Oh, he'll blow up later. It just hasn't registered in his brain yet." Miroku said.

Inuyasha had found Kikyo and slammed her against the wall. Everyone was gone in the hallway they were in. Miroku and Sango caught up and fought to catch their breath. "Where the fuck is she, Kikyo?" Inuyasha growled.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Kikyo said.

"Don't fuck with me." He slammed her into the wall again. "You're the one that said something about being sure where she was." Inuyasha yelled.

"I was just asking a question." Kikyo said.

Inuyasha growled and dropped her to the ground. He turned and walked away. Miroku and Sango followed. They missed Kikyo smirking behind their backs.

"What are you going to do?" Sango asked.

"I'm going to look around." Inuyasha said.

"We'll help you out then." Miroku said. Sango nodded.

"Okay. Search the school everywhere you can and we'll meet at the front of the school." Inuyasha said.

An hour of searching and no leads on Kagome. None whatsoever. They were heading to Kagome's house to tell her mom. She needed to know. Miroku and Sango were a little worried that Inuyasha was so calm.

Inuyasha gripped the steering wheel so hard that it started to bend. Luckily he made it to her house before it crumbled beneath his fingertips. He got out of the car and waited for Miroku and Sango.

They walked up the steps together and knocked on the door. "Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango hello." Ms. Higurashi said. "Kagome's not here."

"We know." Inuyasha said. "She's missing."

"What?" Ms. Higurashi said.

"She's gone. Last time we saw her she was going to the bathroom. When we went in there all I smelt were traces of miasma." Inuyasha said.

"Have you called the authorities?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

"No, we came here after looking for her to tell you." Inuyasha said.

"I'm going to call the police." Ms. Higurashi said. She closed the door and went straight to the phone.

Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango decided to go home. "Are you going to be okay?" Sango asked Inuyasha.

"I'll be fine." Inuyasha said. His eyes betrayed what he said.

Miroku and Sango looked at him worriedly. They nodded and got in their car. "Do you think we should leave him alone?" Sango asked.

"We should leave him alone for a little while. We can't do anything to help him, right now." Miroku said.

"I still don't feel right about leaving him alone." Sango said.

"We'll see him later. I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid." Miroku said.

"What do you think he might do?" Sango asked.

"Knowing him he'll trash his room or start a fight, the list can go on." Miroku said.

"I hope Kagome's okay." Sango said.

"I'm sure she's fine." Miroku said. He grabbed her hand and squeezed reassuringly.

Inuyasha walked in his house. He didn't even bother closing the door. He walked in with his shoulders slumped and his head down. "What's wrong Inuyasha?" Rin asked.

"Learn to close the door." Sesshomaru said. He went to shut the door and noticed Inuyasha parked the car wrong. It was over the curb and in the yard. "I think you need to learn to drive too."

"Sessh!" Rin yelled. "Something is wrong with Inuyasha!"

"What's your point?" Sesshomaru said. Rin glared at him with her hands on her hips. He sighed. "Fine I'll go check. The things I do for you."

Rin smiled and she kissed his cheek. "You should be nice to your little brother." Rin said.

"Half brother." Sesshomaru said.

"That doesn't matter! All that matters is that you're his brother! Now go upstairs and see what's wrong." Rin yelled giving him the `do it or else' look.

Sesshomaru sighed again and headed up the stairs. `Damn that woman.' He thought. She always got him to do stuff he didn't want to. She was too damn cute. Sesshomaru let a smile escape his lips. He loved that in her.

Hope you like it. Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out. My life has been a little hectic lately. I'm getting sick, I have tons of homework, and my sister loves to drive me crazy. It might take a while to get the next chapter out. I hadn't realized this fic was so close to ending. There are only a couple of chapters left. I don't know exactly how many because I change things so often. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
