Party And Pain

 

“Dammit! I'm going to kill Sesshomaru!” Inuyasha yelled as he tried to fix his tie.

 

Kagome giggled and helped him straighten it. “You know you won't.”

 

“Oh I think I will.” Inuyasha growled. It was Friday evening and it was time for the big party. He hated wearing formal attire. He was wearing a nice black suit with a black tie.

 

“You look handsome in your suit.” Kagome kissed his cheek. “You can suffer for a couple of hours right? For me?”

 

Inuyasha hated when she did that. He could never say no. “Fine. You owe me for this.” He said.

 

“Don't think so. Sesshomaru's the one who invited you not me.” Kagome laughed. She walked behind Inuyasha and tied his hair back in a neat little ponytail. It didn't do much but at least his hair wouldn't blow all over the place.

 

“You're the one who's stopping me from killing him though.” Inuyasha said.

 

“You wouldn't kill him either way.” Kagome said. “Will you quit pestering me so I can finish getting ready?”

 

“Fine.” Inuyasha said and left the room. He couldn't wait to see her in the dress Sesshomaru sent for her. He said that Rin picked it out because he knew he would go crazy over it.

 

Twenty minutes later Kagome walked out of the room in her dress. It was red and went all the way down to the floor. The dress showed a little amount of cleavage before straps crisscrossed around her neck revealing her back. The dress was tight fitting and slightly fanned out until it reached the floor. On her arms was a pair of matching red gloves. Her hair was in a formal bun with some loose strands in her face. She wore very little makeup with shiny lip-gloss on her lips.

 

“How do I look?” She asked.

 

Inuyasha's jaw dropped. He was speechless. She looked beyond amazing, more beautiful than any goddess. He stuttered trying to get any words come out of his mouth. Still even then he couldn't get any words out.

 

“That good?” Kagome giggled. “Is the limo here yet?”

 

Inuyasha nodded dumbly. He stood up and grabbed her coat, helping her put it on. He held out his arm and she gladly took it.

 

Miroku and Sango were both already in the limo when they got in. “You look great Sango!” Kagome said.

 

Sango's hair was up in a bun with light purple eye shadow on, her lips were lightly glossed. Her dress was a dark purple with spaghetti straps and hugged tightly to her body. Miroku was wearing a suit similar to Inuyasha's. He looked like the happiest man on earth.

 

“What are you so happy about?” Inuyasha asked him.

 

“I'm always happy when Sango looks as beautiful as she is.” Miroku smiled.

 

“Shut it hentai.” Sango glared at him. “I can't believe I was talked into this.”

 

“Your not the only one Sango.” Inuyasha said angrily.

 

“Just enjoy the night.” Kagome said.

After everyone's coats were taken they all walked in and admired the place. It was a huge gala room for such occasions as this. Inuyasha took Kagome's arm and went around looking for his brother. He spotted him talking to some other couple near the bar.

 

The two couples split and went their separate ways. “Ah you've arrived.” Sesshomaru said. “Although you are late.”

 

“Just be glad I came at all.” Inuyasha muttered.

 

“Tohma, Ayane, this is my half brother Inuyasha and his wife Kagome.” Sesshomaru introduced.

 

“Nice to meet you.” Kagome smiled.

 

“Same here.” Ayane said. She had short brown hair and was wearing a plain black dress.

 

“Would care for something to drink?” Tohma asked.

 

“No, thanks. I don't drink.” Kagome said.

 

Inuyasha just shook his head no. “Aren't you two a little young to be married?” Tohma asked.

 

“Does it matter if we're in love?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Don't comment on their age or marriage.” Sesshomaru said. “It is none of your concern. If you'll excuse us we must meet other guests.”

 

The four of them left before Inuyasha could start growling at the couple. “Inuyasha this is a formal event. Keep yourself together and don't growl at people.” Sesshomaru warned.

 

“You shouldn't have invited me then.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Don't you want an opportunity to show off your wife?” Sesshomaru asked. “You are a part of the business even though you only show up some of the time. You only need to be here for another hour or so to meet some clients. The faster you meet them the sooner you can leave.”

 

“Who's the next person to meet?” Inuyasha asked.

 

After meeting a lot of people the night was almost over. Of course Sesshomaru lied about being only an hour or so. It was almost midnight when they were about to meet with the last person. It was getting late and Kagome was getting tired.

 

“One more and we can leave.” Inuyasha whispered in her ear.

 

“Ah, Inuyasha. Sesshomaru has told me about you.” A tall man with short black hair walked up to them. He had a demonic aura but it wasn't usual. He was wearing a black formal tux. His eyes were a piercing brown color. “I'm Tsukiono, Sei.”

 

“I'm Inuyasha, this is Kagome, my wife.” Inuyasha introduced.

 

“Nice to meet you.” Sei grabbed Kagome's hand and kissed it. “You have a very beautiful wife.”

 

“Arigato.” Inuyasha said as he eyed him.

 

“Arigato, Tsukiono-sama.” Kagome said.

 

“Please, call me Sei. I hate formalities.” He said. “I will be seeing your husband around the office more often now.”

 

“I see. You can call me Kagome. I've always hated formalities also.” Kagome smiled.

 

“Sei will be working with Inuyasha when he comes in. I don't have the time to brief Inuyasha on what he needs to do so that is Sei's job. He also takes over what Inuyasha didn't finish.” Sesshomaru explained.

 

“So he's pretty much my replacement when I don't want to work.” Inuyasha said.

 

“That's what he's hired for.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“It was nice meeting you Inuyasha, Kagome.” Sei began walking away. “I hope to see you again soon. Sweet dreams.”

 

Kagome suddenly felt a pain in her chest and fell to the ground. Inuyasha immediately went to her side. “What's wrong?” He asked.

 

“It...hurts.” Kagome managed to say. She clutched her chest.

 

“We need to take her to the hospital!” Sesshomaru yelled. “Does anyone have any transportation?”

 

“I drove here.” Sei shouted over the noise.

 

Inuyasha picked Kagome up. “Can you take us to the hospital?” He asked.

 

“Follow me.” Sei said. He led them to his car and opened the door. Luckily the hospital was only ten minutes away.

 

When they got to the hospital they ran into the emergency room. Inuyasha shouted for help and resisted the urge to growl when a male doctor placed Kagome on a bed. He began checking to see what was wrong. He told everyone to leave the room.

 

A couple of minutes later the doctor walked out of the room. “What happened?” He asked.

 

“She just collapsed saying `It hurts'. I think she meant her chest.” Inuyasha explained.

 

“Did she show any signs of earlier pains?”

 

“No, she was perfectly fine.” Inuyasha said.

 

“I'd like to keep her overnight for observation.” The doctor said.

 

“Sensei, do you have an idea of what's wrong with her?” Sei asked.

 

“I'm not sure. She doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. She's asleep right now. If the one closest to her could please follow me, I'd like to ask them some questions.” The doctor said.

 

“That's me. I'm her husband.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Please sit.” The doctor pointed to a bed.

About a half an hour later Sesshomaru, Rin, Miroku, and Sango walked in the hospital. They spotted Inuyasha and ran to him and Sei. “How is she?” Sango asked.

 

“The doctor is supposed to come back in a couple of minutes to tell me.” Inuyasha said.

 

The doctor then walked up to the group. “She seems fine. We can't find anything that would've caused the pain. Since there were no indications of earlier pains it seems that she will be fine. There is no guarantee since it came so suddenly and without warning. I prescribed some painkillers for her in case this happens again. That way you don't have to rush to the hospital. Although if this keeps happening frequently then I suggest that she come back. Let her rest when she's tired. She needs to take it slow for the next week or so.” He explained. He handed the prescription to Inuyasha.

 

“How long are you keeping her?” Sesshomaru asked.

 

“Just for tonight.” The doctor said. “You can take her home tomorrow around noon. I know your all worried about her but visiting hours are over.”

 

“Inuyasha you also need to pick up Inuko and Shippo.” Sesshomaru said. “I know you don't want to leave Kagome alone but it's for her health.”

 

“I can give him a ride home.” Sei offered. “You can all go. I'm sure Inuyasha would want to say goodnight to Kagome.”

 

“Arigato Sei.” Inuyasha said. He walked into Kagome's room.

 

He leaned over and lightly kissed Kagome on her lips. “Oyasumi.”

The chapter is short but I thought this was a good ending place. Sorry it took so long to update, but I have mentioned I won't work on this fic nearly as much as the other ones. My first ones are priority right now. Hope you like this chapter. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
