Chapter 6

 

Bad Day for Inuyasha

 

Inuyasha and Kagome had finally arrived at the office. Kaede had been available to watch Shippo and Inuko. After getting dressed they dropped off the kids and headed to the office. Inuyasha of course grumbled and muttered all the way there. Even in the elevator up to the top floor, the other people that were in with them looked at him nervously. Kagome smiled, reassuring that things were fine.

 

“Quit pouting so much.” Kagome rolled her eyes. “It's getting old you know.”

 

“I'm not pouting! I'm pissed that I had to come here at all!” Inuyasha said angrily. He grew even angrier when he saw Sei walk by. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

 

“I work here.” Sei smiled. “Feeling better I take it?”

 

“Hai, thanks for everything you did last night.” Kagome smiled. “I appreciate your help. Please let me know if you need anything.”

 

“It was nothing. Glad to help you out.” Sei smiled.

 

“Sesshomaru said you weren't available for work today!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“Quit making a scene!” Kagome scolded.

 

“I was scheduled to work today.” Sei said. “Oh Sesshomaru's in his office. He said `when that baka brother of mine arrives send him my way.'”

 

“That bastard!” Inuyasha shouted. He grabbed Kagome's hand and dragged her towards Sesshomaru's office.

 

“See you later Sei! And thanks again!” Kagome waved.

 

Inuyasha almost knocked Sesshomaru's office door off of the hinges. He slammed it shut after stepping inside. “What the hell is with you?!” Inuyasha growled.

 

“I see you've noticed Sei is here.” Sesshomaru said. “If I told you the truth you wouldn't have come.”

 

“What are you talking about?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“I need you to work with Sei for a while. Show him how things work. I'd do it myself but I do own the company and don't have the time. That's what you are for. The documents I need you to read are in your office. Read them after your done with Sei.” Sesshomaru explained. “Besides Rin wants to see Kagome and has asked me to give you mindless buys work.”

 

“Where is Rin?” Kagome asked.

 

“She went to get some snacks. She should be back any moment now.” As soon as he finished his sentence, Rin walked into the office.

 

“Sesshy, I'm back. They were out of Pocky Sticks.” She pouted. She looked up and smiled. “Kagome you're here! I bought snacks!”

 

“Sesshomaru told me.” Kagome said.

 

“Come on let's leave the guys to their work. We can go into the room next to this office.” Rin said. She grabbed Kagome's arm and led her to the next room. “Are you feeling better? Oh Sango is waiting for us next door.”

 

“I hate you.” Inuyasha growled.

 

“Yes, and it pains me so to hear it.” Sesshomaru said. “Sei should be waiting in your office. I suggest you get this over with. I know you don't like Sei because you see him as a threat to your mate, but work needs to get done.”

 

“Why did you hire him in the first place?”

 

“His skills are exceptional and he had great recommendations.” Sesshomaru said. “I'm warning you now, I'm not firing him because of jealousy issues.”

 

Sesshomaru had seen the way Sei was with Kagome. He also saw how Inuyasha glared at him when Sei kissed his wife's hand. Inuyasha was extremely jealous but for good reasons. Kagome was one in a million, a great woman. Although to Sesshomaru, Rin was his one and only but Kagome was a quality woman, which was rare this day and age.

 

“Whatever.” Inuyasha snapped. “Kagome was supposed to be resting.”

 

“She can be as stubborn as you. Did you really think she was going to lie down and listen?” Sesshomaru asked. “Unless something is death threatening, she won't stop her normal routine. She controls her life not anyone or anything else.”

 

“I'm aware of that. I am her husband and mate.” Inuyasha said.

 

“I sometimes wonder if you really do notice.” Sesshomaru said. “You'd better hurry. I'm sure Sei is getting impatient.”

 

“He can wait.” Inuyasha said before leaving the room and heading to his office.

“You look much better.” Rin said. “I mean last night you were pale and you scared us all.”

 

“I'm fine now. No need to worry.” Kagome smiled.

 

“You say that but we know it's not exactly true. You're hiding something.” Sango said.

 

Kagome sighed. She needed to lift the weight of her secret and tell someone. Telling Inuyasha would only make him more worried than usual. “Lately I've been having this dream...” She finally said.

 

“Dream?” Sango and Rin asked.

 

“Hai, I've had it a couple times and lately its...stronger.” Kagome said trying to find the right word to describe the feeling. “I'm somewhere dark and I can feel someone's presence around. Suddenly I hear screaming, hundreds of people screaming. I always fall to my knees covering my ears. The feeling is so overwhelming that I can't block it at all.”

 

“And you don't know why you're having it?” Sango asked.

 

“I don't know. It just suddenly came to me one night. I've had it almost every night. I wake up covered in sweat. When I was at the hospital, I scared at least three nurses, that night I screamed.” Kagome explained. “I don't want to tell Inuyasha. I'm not sure what it is and it could be nothing. He would just blow it out of proportion. I want to know exactly what it is before talking to him about it.”

 

“Kagome...” Rin said. “You know you shouldn't hide things from him.”

 

“I know, but...I want to be clear about this. Make sure its not stress or anything. I talked to Kaede-sama about it. We're trying to figure out what's going on.” Kagome said.

 

“We won't say anything. Let us know if anything else happens though.” Sango said.

 

“So how was the party for you guys?” Rin asked changing the subject.

 

“It was nice actually.” Sango smiled. “I thought it would be a bunch of rich snobs but there were some nice people there.”

 

“At least you had fun. We kept getting stares because we are so young but we're married and have two children.” Kagome sighed. “Inuyasha didn't exactly enjoy the men's company around.”

 

“Sesshomaru didn't either. He hates black tie affairs.” Rin said. “Too many snobs.”

 

“Well Sesshomaru isn't the kind of person to wave his money around, or his trophy wife either.” Kagome giggled.

 

“He's not old enough to have a trophy wife. And I'm too young.” Rin laughed. “Our ages are to close for me to be a trophy wife. Maybe if he was twenty years older but I'd never go for that.”

 

“That would be a little...disturbing.” Sango said.

 

“I'm going to use the restroom.” Kagome stood and walked out of the room. She headed there but was cut off by Sei.

 

“Ah, Kagome. Enjoying your time at the office?” He asked.

 

“Hai, I'm just talking with Rin and Sango. I'm supposed to take it easy.” Kagome smiled.

 

“Well, it seems like you're off to a great start.” Sei chuckled.

 

“I can't stand to stay still for long. Unless I'm diagnosed with something, I'm not going to let that stop me. Even then I probably wouldn't let that stop me.” Kagome giggled. “If you'll excuse me I need to use the restroom.”

 

“Oh of course. I hope to see you soon.” He smiled and walked away.

 

Kagome walked to the restroom and quickly did what she needed to do. When she was done washing her hands she left the restroom on her way back to the room Sango and Rin were in. When she was almost there she passed Sesshomaru's office. Yelling could be heard. She stopped when she recognized Inuyasha's voice. He sounded really angry.

 

“I won't do it!” Inuyasha growled. “You should've known before you scheduled this shit!”

 

“Inuyasha, you hold power in this company because of your importance. I need you to go. Business isn't fun and games. This is serious. If I didn't need you there then I wouldn't have to make you go.” Sesshomaru said.

 

Kagome was curious as to what they were talking about. She realized that it was none of her business and began walking to the room next door. Before she could even take a step forward Inuyasha threw open the door looking pissed. He looked at Kagome and grabbed her hand. “We're leaving.” Inuyasha said angrily.

 

“But Sango and Rin-” Kagome started but was interrupted.

 

“They'll find out later. I want out of this goddamn place.” Inuyasha said. He continued dragging her until they were out at the car.

 

The whole way home he didn't say a word. He almost didn't remember to pick up Inuko and Shippo. Kagome had to remind him once he missed the exit. His anger only got worse when he realized that and had to turn around to pick them up. He would've said to hell with it but Kagome would get angry and her anger was worse than his. Still he wouldn't say a word.

 

Kagome gave up after the first five minutes. A car ride was not the best place to get into an argument if it were to happen. She decided to interrogate him when they got home. It was a much safer environment. They all stepped out of the car and went inside. Shippo automatically went to his room to play video games. Inuko was put down for a nap, which left Kagome free to talk to Inuyasha.

She found him in their room sitting on the bed. His tie was loose around his neck and the first three buttons were undone. It looked like he was too frustrated to take it off and gave up. Usually he was already out of it and changed. She walked up to him and grabbed his chin, lifting his head.

 

“What's wrong?” She asked. She began taking his tie off and removing his shirt. He was never comfortable in suits and thought it would be better if he were changed. Maybe it would release some of the frustration.

 

“I have to go out of town.” Inuyasha said, some anger still in his voice.

 

“Out of town?” Kagome asked. “For what?”

 

“That bastard half brother of mine wants me to go to Hong Kong to give a proposal. The one he's had me work on the last couple of months. Since I know it the best I have to be the one to do it. He knew this since he assigned me the damn proposal!” Inuyasha slammed his fist on the bed once his tie was off. “I'll be gone for two days.”

 

“What's wrong with that?” Kagome asked. “It makes sense that you be the one to give the proposal since you're the one that thought it up. Your not as dumb as you look.”

 

Inuyasha stopped her hands on the buttons of his shirt. He turned her around threw her on the bed, pouncing on top of her. “I'm going to ignore that last comment. I don't want to go at all! I don't want to you leave you for two days!” He yelled.

 

“It's only two days. You won't die will you?”

 

“You don't know that.” Inuyasha said seriously.

 

“I'm sure you'll be able to survive for two days.” Kagome said. “What's so wrong with it?”

 

“Since the day we've been mated, even before that, we've never gone more than a day without seeing each other.” Inuyasha buried his face in her neck. “I don't want to go more than a day without seeing my family.”

 

“Inuyasha...It's your job. Sesshomaru chose you because you can get the job done and your good at it. If you back down you'll just look like another spoiled brat who inherited their rich parent's money and only works to pass the time. I've never thought of you that way but that's because I know you. And I know you can survive two days without your family just like we'll survive without seeing you for two days.” Kagome wrapped her arms around him.

 

Inuyasha sighed and inhaled her scent. “Fine, I'll go. But I won't like it!” He shouted, but her hair muffled his voice. “When I get back we're going out to dinner, just the two of us again. I'll spend that day with Inuko and Shippo.”

 

“When do you have to leave?” Kagome asked.

 

“Tomorrow morning at eight.” Inuyasha said.

 

“That soon?” Kagome asked a little shocked.

 

“Yeah that bastard kept it from me this whole time.” Inuyasha said. “He knew I would argue about having to go.”

 

“What did you tell him?” Kagome asked.

 

“Nothing.” Inuyasha said and kissed her neck. “I left after that. I didn't give him an answer.”

 

“Then you should call him.” Kagome said. She pushed him off of her and crawled to the head of their bed to grab the phone. She handed it to him. “You have to apologize to Rin and Sango for dragging me off without saying goodbye.”

 

Inuyasha sighed, rolling over to call Sesshomaru. He dialed his cell phone number so he would take the call. After a couple of rings Rin answered the phone and screamed, causing him to drop it. “I can't believe you!”

 

“Dammit!” Inuyasha covered his ears.

 

Kagome picked up the phone. “Rin, calm down. Your going to make Inuyasha deaf.” She said calmly.

 

“Kagome! What happened? Sango, Kagome's on the phone!” Rin shouted.

 

“Inuyasha was angry and dragged me out. Sorry I couldn't say bye.” Kagome apologized. “Inuyasha says sorry to.”

 

“Like I hell I did!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“Anyways he called because he's going to Hong Kong.” Kagome said. “And Sesshomaru needs to know.”

 

“Sesshy!”

“Tell him that the flight is booked for eight in the morning. He needs to be there early because of the airport issues. Although I'm sure you will make sure he gets up and going.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“Of course.” Kagome said.

 

“I'm sure you're the one who got him to agree to go. Thanks to you I won't have to make someone else go.”

 

“It's no problem. He does have a job to do.” Kagome giggled.

 

“He won't like the other surprises I have in store for him. Make sure he packs suits. Remember to take it easy on yourself.”

 

“Hai! I'll talk to you later! Ja ne!” Kagome hung up the phone and put it on the charger. “We should get you packed.”

 

“I can't believe you're so enthusiastic about this.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

“I'll pack your things. You go break the news to Shippo.” Kagome smiled.

 

“Why do I have to do it?”

 

“You need suits packed and if you pack them yourself they'll be wrinkled and you won't be able to wear them.” Kagome smiled. “Besides I don't know what Shippo's reaction will be.”

 

“Fine.” Inuyasha left the room.

Hope you like this chapter. Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out. I have a little bit of writer's block. I think someone asked about their ages, but I couldn't find the review. Maybe it was for one of my other fics? ^^ That's the bad thing about having numerous fics, I always forget what happened in which. Anyway just to catch up for their ages I'll place them up. I'm going to have to make their ages up since Chaos High didn't have any exact ages. Just that it was all in the same range. Sorry if I get something wrong or whatever. If I have to I'll go back and edit it.
