Chapter 7

 

Unwanted Goodbyes

 

Kagome had just taken out the suitcase from under their bed when Inuyasha walked into the room with Shippo attached to his leg. “Get the runt off of me.” Inuyasha said irritably.

 

She giggled before moving to him to remove Shippo from his leg. “Come on Shippo, he'll only be gone for a couple of days. He'll be back before you know it.” Kagome said as she finally got him to let go.

 

“I don't want him to go.” Shippo said sadly.

 

“When he gets back we'll spend the day together.” Kagome smiled. “He has important business to do.”

 

“Hai.” Shippo said with his head bent.

 

Inuyasha sighed and sat on the bed next to the suitcase. Shippo jumped onto his lap and smiled. “Remember to take it easy. Your still supposed to be resting. Keep your cell phone with you at all times. I'll call you as soon as I get there.” Inuyasha said. “You know what? Just stay home the whole time and nothing can go wrong.”

 

“I'm not staying cooped up in the house because you're worried. I went seventeen years without you I can go another two days.” Kagome said. She picked out some suits and other things he needed and set them on the bed. “Everything will be fine.”

 

“Shippo, don't cause her any trouble and make sure she doesn't do anything to hard.” Inuyasha told him. “You have to be the man of the house while I'm gone.”

 

“Hai!” Shippo said. He was happy he got to carry such responsibility.

 

“You act like I can't live alone.” Kagome shook her head. She walked into their bathroom and grabbed a spare toothbrush, comb, some travel shampoo, and other hygienic products. She set them on the bed also. Making sure everything he would need was there she packed it in the suitcase. “I think that's everything. How are you supposed to get the plane ticket and other things? Where's your passport?”

 

“Sesshomaru has the ticket. He's going to drive me to the airport.” Inuyasha said. “My passport is in my desk drawer.”

 

Kagome walked out of the room and to the room on the left of theirs to the office to grab his passport. As he said it was in the desk drawer. She walked back into their room and put it on the stand next to the bed. “I think that's everything.” She said, thinking of anything else he might need.

 

“Keh. We wouldn't have to worry about it if I didn't have to go on this damn trip!” He growled.

 

“Don't use that language in front of Shippo!” Kagome shouted.

 

“I won't repeat it!” Shippo said. “I don't want my mouth washed out with soap.”

 

“Who told you your mouth would be washed...out with...soap.” Kagome turned to Inuyasha. “You told him you'd wash his mouth out with soap?”

 

“I'm living up to my threat. If I hear one bad word come out of your mouth your gonna get it.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Hai, I know.” Shippo said. “I'm hungry!”

 

“It is a little past dinner time.” Kagome said. “Since everything is packed I'll start cooking.”

 

“Order out. It's been a long day. You don't need to be on your feet any longer.” Inuyasha picked Shippo up and threw him up over his shoulder and stood up to get the phone. “What do you want?”

 

“I want pizza!” Shippo shouted.

 

“Pizza is fine.” Kagome smiled. “I'm going to get Inuko. He's probably hungry too.”

Later that night everyone had their fill on pizza while watching movies. Shippo fell asleep on the couch along with Inuyasha and Kagome had rocked Inuko to sleep. She put them both to bed and gently woke Inuyasha. She shrieked when Inuyasha reached up and pulled her onto him. He took advantage of her surprise and kissed her.

 

“I thought you were sleeping!” Kagome slapped his chest. “You scared me!”

 

“I was asleep. I have sensitive hearing remember.” Inuyasha smirked.

 

“You should go to sleep. You have to wake up early tomorrow.” Kagome smiled. She got up and walked to their bedroom. Inuyasha followed after her.

 

Inuyasha shut and locked the door behind him. He pushed Kagome onto the bed and crawled on top of her. “How about a little fun before I have to leave?” He smirked.

The next morning Inuyasha woke up to an annoying noise. He picked up whatever object made the horrible noise and chucked it across the room. He rolled over and pulled the covers over his head. He was about to fall back asleep when the covers were pulled off of him and he was pushed off of the bed.

 

“What the fuck!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“It's time for you to wake up! Oh and you broke another alarm clock!” Kagome shouted. “That's the fourth one this month!”

 

“Keh! Who cares, they're annoying.” Inuyasha stood and laid back down in bed.

 

“Oh no you don't. You need to shower and get ready to go.” Kagome pushed him once again. This time Inuyasha pulled on her arms and took her with him. She landed on top of him. “That was unnecessary.”

 

“I don't think it was.” Inuyasha said. He dragged his claws from the back of her knee to her upper thigh. She was wearing one of his shirts, so it was short on her.

 

Kagome shivered but quickly snapped out of it. She sat up, straddling his hips and hit his chest. “We don't have time for this. You need to get ready.” She smiled and stood up. “Hurry up and get in the shower. I'll make you some breakfast.”

 

Inuyasha stood up and wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her neck. He walked into the bathroom and started the water for the shower. He stripped himself of the only article of clothing he had on, which were his boxers. Kagome walked in and smiled. “You're actually taking a shower.” She said. “I expected you to be in bed again.”

 

“Why go back to bed when I can have you in the shower?” Inuyasha smirked.

 

“We don't have time for this.” Kagome pushed him into the shower.

 

Inuyasha pulled on her arm, bringing her into the shower with him. The shirt she was wearing got soaked from the water. He switched their positions, pushing her against the cold tiled wall. He put his hands on her waist and kissed her. His hands went lower to the hem of her shirt and pulled it up over her head, their lips separating for a moment, so he could throw the article of clothing away from them.

 

He put his hands on her hips and lifted her up against the wall, trapping her against it and his chest. She automatically wrapped her legs around his waist and leaned down to kiss him some more. Her hands went to his ears on the top of his head and began to rub the base, exciting him even further.

 

Inuyasha lifted her higher so he could lower her onto him. They both moaned loudly. Kagome put her hands on his shoulders as he began a quick pace. He moved from her lips in favor of her neck and breasts. Soon enough they were both nearing the end and fell into their blissful climax.

 

Inuyasha rested his forehead just above her right breast as he caught his breath. He didn't want to be away from her for two days. Sure to other people it wasn't much but he was half inu youkai and Kagome was his lifeline. Not only is he possessive but he couldn't live without her either. She gave him a family, love, and acceptance.

 

Kagome kissed his forehead and smiled in reassurance. She knew he was still a little skeptical about leaving, especially since this was his first trip alone. He lowered her to the ground and gave her a long lingering kiss before grabbing the shampoo. He didn't lie when he said he would shower, she would just accompany him.

Sesshomaru was waiting outside in the limo at exactly the time he said he'd be there. Kagome walked outside with him to see him off. Inuyasha hugged her and wouldn't let go for a while. He kissed her and whispered that he would be back soon. “I'll call you as soon as I get to the hotel. Remember to take it easy! Just because I'm not hear doesn't mean you can do whatever the hell you want! I love you.” Inuyasha kissed her.

 

“Hai, hai. I love you too.” Kagome said. “I'll miss you.”

 

They shared one last kiss and hug before Inuyasha got into the limo. She waved goodbye until they were out of sight.

 

She slowly walked inside. Of course she was sad that Inuyasha was going to be gone for two days but she couldn't show it. If she did he'd be more resistant and with him being so stubborn he wouldn't have went. He had a job to do and Kagome wasn't going to stand in the way of it. It would be easier to talk to Kaede about her dreams and other things that were happening. Inuyasha got suspicious when she talked to Kaede.

 

Since she had a couple of hours until around the time Kaede woke up she decided to catch up on some housework.

“Ah Kagome it's nice to see you again.” Kaede said as she let her and the kids in. “I have tea set up in the backyard so the kids can play while we talk.”

 

“Thanks Kaede-sama.” Kagome followed her to the back porch. She set down Inuko's baby bag and set him down on a blanket she laid down for him. “Remember to be careful with him Shippo.”

 

“Hai!” Shippo smiled and sat down in front of Inuko.

 

Kagome sat down in a chair opposite of Kaede and took the cup of tea she offered. “Thanks for having us over.” She said.

 

“I always enjoy your visits! You can come by anytime.” Kaede smiled. “So what's on your mind? I hear you were in the hospital recently.”

 

“How'd you know?”

 

“Inuyasha phoned me last night and told me you were hospitalized and that I should keep an eye on you. Make sure you don't do anything to strenuous. You know how he worries.” Kaede explained.

 

“Hai, he's out of town for two days so I can see why he'd call you.” Kagome shook her head at his precautious steps. “We were at a dinner party and I felt so much pain all of a sudden and without warning. I passed out and Inuyasha took me to the hospital. I was kept overnight for observation but I'm fine now.”

 

“You don't feel any more pain? Were you diagnosed with something?” Kaede asked in concern.

 

“No, they don't know what was wrong. I have a check up appointment that I'm sure Inuyasha will make me keep. I feel fine now. It was just that moment I felt pain. I also had that dream at the hospital but it was stronger and felt more real. I don't know what to make of anything that's happening.” Kagome sighed. “Do you think the pain is somehow connected with the dream?”

 

“Well there is a possibility but then that would mean that someone wanted you to feel that pain and see the dream.” Kaede said seriously. “Someone must be doing this themselves. There's no other explanation since they didn't find anything wrong with you.”

 

“So then someone is after me?” Kagome asked.

 

“Either that or they are trying to warn you but with the pain I don't think that's the case. As much as I hate to say it you must be more careful now, especially since you have a family now.” Kaede warned. “I'm sure you'll be fine, especially since your such a great miko and mother. Whatever comes you'll be ready.”

 

“Is there a way to find out who's doing this?” Kagome asked.

 

“None that I know of but I will look into some of my old books to see if there is a way. Nothing like this has happened so unfortunately I can't help very much.” Kaede said.

 

“It's alright, you've helped enough.” Kagome smiled. “With that aside how are things?”

 

“Fine, I'm teaching again. Another miko has been discovered. She doesn't have much power but she insists on learning to control what little power she does have.” Kaede said. “In fact she's coming over later this evening.”

 

“That must be fun.” Kagome said. “I remember training. It was tough at times.”

 

“Well if you'd like you can accompany one of the lessons. I'm sure learning from a younger miko will be much better than learning from an older miko as myself who's no longer in the practice.” Kaede chuckled.

 

“I'm sure you are much better than I.” Kagome giggled. “I'd love to be there if you and the student don't mind.”

 

“She's a timid young girl.” Kaede said. “I think she wants to learn as a way to boost her confidence.”

 

“Well without Inuyasha for two days I have much more free time.” Kagome giggled.

 

“You miss him yet your grateful for the opportunity to be able to do things you couldn't when he was around.” Kaede laughed.

 

“You could put it that way.” Kagome smiled. “The day he gets back he's going to spend time with Shippo and Inuko then we're going out to dinner. Would you mind watching them?”

 

“Of course not.” Kaede said. “It's nice to have young ones around. At my age it reminds you of your youth.”

 

Kagome and Kaede talked for a little while longer while Shippo and Inuko played. Kagome needed something to keep herself occupied from current events...
