The End of Attacks

 

Inuyasha was just getting comfortable when the phone rang. He growled and got up from the bed to answer it. “What?” He yelled loudly, pissed at whoever interrupted him.

 

“This is Officer Watanabe with the Police Department. I'm calling for Inuyasha.”

 

“Speaking. What?” Inuyasha said rudely.

 

“Well we're calling to inform you on what information we found out about Nami. Her name is Asahiko, Nami. She's been diagnosed with mental instability for over a year now. She was released from her former mental institution because she was getting better. She apparently had borderline personality after suffering some tragic loss and hasn't been well since. She fooled the doctors into thinking she was better and refused to be re-committed when questioned about her mental state. She's been running ever since.” Officer Watanabe informed him.

 

“I'm aware of most of that.” Inuyasha said. “What's happening to her is what I want to know.”

 

“Actually, there's some bad news. She escaped earlier this hour. Four of our police officers are at the hospital seeking medical assistant because of her miko powers.”

 

“WHAT? Why didn't you say something earlier?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“We are aware of your outbursts and anger so we thought it best to inform you of what we found out first before letting you know about the escape. We have officers working on tracking her do-”

 

That was all the officer got to say before Inuyasha threw the phone down. “Fuck!”

 

“What is it?” Kagome sat up and asked.

 

“...Nami broke out of jail...” Inuyasha finally said after moments of silence. “The police can't do shit! I'm going to take this on myself. I'm tired of the police's incompetence.”

 

“Inuyasha you can't do that! It's not like the case with Naraku. You can't just go out and kill her!” Kagome knew what he would do. She just had to try and stop him before he could do it.

 

“What do you suggest we do?” Inuyasha asked. “Invite her for tea?”

 

“You don't have to be such an ass!” Kagome stood up. She paused when she felt a jolt of pain in her side. Ignoring it as best as she could, she continued to leave the room.

 

Inuyasha grabbed her arm. “You need to be careful. Your not fooling anyone with that bullet wound. I'm not trying to be an ass but there's no other way to fix this problem!”

 

“First things first, Shippo and Inuko need to go somewhere safe. I was thinking my mother's house, although I'm highly doubting she'd like the reason why we're bringing them...” Kagome sighed. “If she agreed would you take them over?”

 

“I'm not leaving you alone!”

 

“I'll call Sango and Miroku.” Kagome sat down at the kitchen table after grabbing the phone. “Onegai?”

 

Inuyasha sighed. He really wanted her to go with him. “...Fine, but call her now!”

 

“I'll call her on the cell and go get Shippo and Inuko.” Kagome stood up. “I'll be fine and won't move too fast. Can you pack some of their stuff?”

 

“Alright...but be careful.” Inuyasha headed to Shippo's room.

 

Kagome left the house and called her mother on the cell phone. “Kagome! How have you been dear?” Her mother asked.

 

“...Fine, I have a favor to ask you...”

 

“What happened this time?” Her mother sighed.

 

“Well, Inuyasha will explain. Can we leave Shippo and Inuko with you for a couple of days? I don't have time to explain just ask Inuyasha when he drops them off.” Kagome hoped her mother wouldn't ask any questions.

 

“...Alright. I won't ask anything until Inuyasha gets here but please be careful. I know how these situations turn out.” Her mother said.

 

“Of course. He'll be there soon and thanks. I'll call you when I get the chance, bye.” Kagome hung up the phone not even waiting for her goodbyes. She put the phone on her pocket and headed for Miroku and Sango's house.

Luckily she managed to get Inuko and Shippo without any questions. She also got Inuyasha to leave and she convinced him that she was going to their house. She said goodbye to Shippo and Inuko and waved while they pulled out of the driveway. Now was her chance to put her plan in motion.

 

She figured since Nami broke out of the police station that she was close. Watching her so she could take her chance. If she was right Nami would wait until Kagome was alone to attack since every time Inuyasha interrupted her. Hopefully Nami would listen to reason, especially now that she knew about her mental state. Now all she could do was wait.

Inuyasha made it to Kagome's mother's house in no time. He hated to speed with the kids in the car but Kagome's safety was important too. So he did his best to be careful going a faster speed. By the time he got up the shrine steps his mother in law was already waiting.

 

“It's nice to see you again Inuyasha. Hello Shippo!” She greeted.

 

“Nice to see you to. Thanks for taking them. I brought some of their things.” Inuyasha set the bag down inside the door.

 

“Okay. So what's going on?”

 

“Kagome didn't tell you?” Inuyasha asked.

 

Ms. Higurashi shook her head. “She said to ask you once you got here.”

 

It finally dawned on him...She was up to something. “I'm sorry, I'd like to explain but I think Kagome is about to do something stupid!” Inuyasha took off. “Be good Shippo and Inuko!”

 

“Hmm, Shippo do you know what's going on?” Ms. Higurashi asked.

 

“A little.” He answered.

 

“How about you explain over some lunch.”

 

“Alright!” Shippo ran into the house.

Kagome was right. Not even ten minutes after she entered the house Nami made her appearance. She had jumped through the front window into the living room where Kagome was sitting.

 

“Are you waiting for death? Being alone like this?” Nami asked.

 

“No, I've been waiting for you.” Kagome answered and stood up. “I thought it was best to talk alone.”

 

“Talk? I don't want to talk! I spent over a year in therapy talking!” Nami shouted. “I want my revenge!”

 

“I'm aware of that. I'm sorry things didn't go your way. You have to understand that Naraku was evil! I didn't like him! I'm sorry he couldn't see you.” Kagome said. “Things have been terrible for you, I understand that, but going after me isn't going to solve your problems!”

 

“Stop it! It's too late to apologize!” Nami shook her head as tears fell down her cheeks. “I've already decided!”

 

Kagome ducked to miss the first miko blast. Sure it wouldn't really hurt her, but if the force was strong enough it could send her flying against the wall and that would hurt. “Nami please don't do this!” Kagome ducked once more.

 

“I have to!” Nami shouted and this time ran straight towards her. She tried punching her but Kagome stepped to the side.

 

Kagome didn't expect what Nami did next. She felt cold hands circle around her neck. She choked and fell to the ground. “Nami...please don't do this...I know you loved Naraku, I'm sorry he couldn't love you back...but-but you'll find someone better...someone who loved you to.” Kagome choked out with her last breaths.

 

Nami let go. It was the first time she'd heard such words. None of her therapists had ever said that or her mother. She looked at her hands and fell back onto her but. The tears fell harder now and she covered her face. “I know. I know!” She shouted. “I knew he was evil! But I didn't care!”

 

“Nami...” Kagome sat up and coughed.

 

“He was the only one who saw me! Everyone ignored me! He was so nice to me...” Nami cried. “He remembered me, my name...”

 

Kagome reached out her arm and touched her shoulder. Nami completely broke down and jumped into Kagome's arms. She was saying something too quiet for her to hear. After a minute she got louder muttering `I'm sorry' over and over again. Kagome felt sorry for her. She pretty much forgave her for shooting her.

 

“It's alright.” Kagome said.

 

“KAGOME!”

 

Kagome looked up to see Inuyasha breathing heavily in front of her. “What the fuck is going on?” he asked. He expected to see fighting not...hugging...

 

“I'll explain later.” Kagome answered.

 

“I'm so sorry!” Nami cried.

A couple hours later, Nami calmed down and was finally able to talk. She was still crying but not as much as before. “I'm sorry. I know I can't make up for what I did but I'll do whatever I can.” Nami said with teary eyes.

 

“It's fine. I just hope you feel better soon.” Kagome smiled. “Remember to call me.”

 

“I will. Thanks. And I'm sorry...” Nami smiled weakly and headed for the cab that just pulled up.

 

Kagome closed the door after Nami was no longer in sight. She turned around to see an angry Inuyasha standing in her way. “What the fuck was that?” He asked.

 

“It's a long story.” Kagome sighed. She went into the kitchen to take her medicine. She'd forgotten about them all day.

 

“The kids aren't here so start explaining.” Inuyasha sat down next to her after getting her a drink.

 

“Well...it's nothing really...”

 

“Nothing? You lied to me! And your mother!” Inuyasha slammed his fist on the table.

 

“I did not lie to my mother. I just didn't inform her of everything...” Kagome looked down. “I wanted to take care of this on my own. I didn't want to resort to violence and that's exactly how everything worked out.”

 

“You still lied to me.” Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at her.

 

“I'm sorry. But I know you want to protect me and in doing that you would've hurt Nami and I didn't want that to happen.” Kagome explained. She swallowed the pills and finished the last of the milk. “I need to call my mother.”

 

“No, you tell me what the hell happened first!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“Fine.” Kagome sighed.

Sorry it took so long to update. Lots of things going on. Sooo much stuff going on, its ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that I still have writer's block that shows no signs of going away. So if you have any suggestions or requests for any of my fics let me know!

 

Oh and I wrote some yaoi fics for Eerie Queerie. If you don't like it then you don't have to read it (obviously), but if you like that stuff then read it if you feel like it. I'm just letting you know.

 

As you could probably tell there will be only one chapter left. There probably aren't very many chapters in my other fics too. I've been working on another Inuyasha fic but I'm not sure of whether or not to put it up. I'm trying to improve my writing skill.
