Chapter 8
Kagome was in her room, finishign unpacking the last of her things. Her and INuyasha had gotten home two hours ago, he made her a quick lunch and sat with her in silence, just watching her. After she was finished eatign, he went straight to his room, and hadn't come out since. She was starting to get a little worried. he hadn't made any noise at all. Maybe he was sleeping, or catching up on some work. The sound of the phone ringing broke her from her thoughts. She walked over to her dresser where her cell phone sat. She picked it up and answered.
It was Rin, telling her that school was ready and they were letting students back in next week. She hung up her phone and sat it back on her dresser."Maybe I should go tell Inuyasha the news" she said to herself. She looked down at herself and saw that she was still wearing her black dress for the funeral. 'I think I should change first' she thought.
She walked over to her dresser and pulled out a pair og pajamas. The bottoms were a dark green plaid design, and the top was a solid green spagetti strap shirt that was tight around her waist. After changing she grabbed her brush, and brushed her hair up itno a ponytail. After settling on how she looked, she walked out of her room and down the hall to Inuyasha's.
She stopped at his door and gave a light knock on the door, and pushed her way in. Once inside, she looked around and saw Inuyasha sitting on the bed. He was wearing a wife beater and a pair of sweats. His hair was hung loose and spread out all over his shoulders. He was looking down at his hands, and it looked like he was holding a......picture?
He looked up at hearing his door open and saw Kagome standing there. He looked back down at his hands. Kagome walked over to him at sat next to him on the bed. "hey" she said softly. "hey" he said back a litte quieter, still not looking at her. "Rin just called me" he nodded."She said that school is ready and their lettign everyone back in next week." she said. "thats good" she said softly.
Now Kagome was getting confused all of a sudden, why was he acting like he was depressed? she was the one who just lost her entire family, not him.She just had to know what was wrong.
"Whats wrong?" she asked softly
"......"
"Inuyasha?"
"it's nothing, just....." he didn't finish.
"Just what?"
"nothing"
"oh" she said, with a hint of sadness in her voice." w-who's that?" she asked pointing toward the picture.
"M-My mother"
"oh, you never told me about her" she said a little hurt that he never told her about his mother.
"I never told anyone about my mother, so, don't take it personal"
"it's fine, you don't have to tell me, i'll understand" she said with a little smile on her face, but quickly faded. She turned her head and faced the floor.
Inuyasha turned to look at her, and he could og sworn he saw a tear roll down her cheek. His heart crushed. 'I can trust Kagome, she's the only one who's been there for me' he thought to himself.' she's the only one who listens to you, and talks to you about her problems' he sighed, it's true. Kagome has always been there for him for the past couple of months, and him to her, so why can't he tell her about his mother?
"M-My mother died when I was a small boy" he said, turning his face to look at the wall. She turned her head to look at him.
"H-How?"
"She had cancer in the lungs. She didn't smoke or anything like that, it just sorta happened one day."
He set the picture down on his nightstand and turned to her, pulling her into a tight embrace.
" She was the only one I had left. My parents were divorced at the time, and Sesshomaru was living with his mother in New York, where my father was."
" I-I'm so sorry, you must have been so scared and confused"
"Yeah I remember, I was at the hospital sitting in the waiting room when the doctor walked up to me with another man by his side. T-They told me that my mother had died and that the other man was here to take me to New York to live with my father."
By this time he had a couple of tears running down his face. Kagome raised her head and kissed the tears away, on each cheek. Inuyasha grabbed each side of her face and pulled her into a gentle kiss, a kiss that woudld calm the both of them. He was the first to pull away, and wiped the tears from her cheek that had fallen a little earlier. " you okay?" he asked in a gentle voice, she nodded with a little smile on her face." I should be asking you that" she said with a little laugh.
He just looked at her. "i'll be fine, now that i'm with you" Kagome couldn't help but smile at this. " come on, lets go down stairs and watch a movie." he said "okay" "then we can order a pizza." She gave a quick laugh while replying " O-Okay" they both headed downstairs.
*~---------------------Later that night------------------------~*
Kagome and Inuyasha were sitting in the living room, cuddled together. They had settled on watching white noise, after arguing on wether to watch "Kill Bill" or "Tomb Raider", then decided it was best to watch "White Noise". They had a half eaten box of pizza sitting on the table and couple of empty cans of soda scattered on the table.
Kagome had regreted watching the movie, everytime a scary part would happen she would literaly jump out of her skin, making Inuyasha laugh at her. It made him happy as hell, everytime she freaked she would cuddle into him and bury her face into his shoulder, making him pull her closer and getting a free feelsie on her butt, she didn't seem to mind to much, because she would arch her rear further into his hand.
It was raining and lighting outside pretty bad, making Kagome a little nervous, cause she did not like lighting. The night had only gotten worse when the power went out, making Kagome freak.
"well that sucks" Inuyasha said while laughing "it's not funny" Kagome said scared. "aww, is poor Kagome scared?" he teased "As a matter of fact I am" she said a little annoyed.
"okay soory. Do you want to go to bed?"
"you kidding me? after seeing that? yeah right. I'll stay up all night if I have to."
Suddenly a great idea popped into Inuyasha's head.
"W-Well you can sleep with me tonight, if you like?" he asked hopefully.
Kagome looked up at him with a smile on her face.
"Inuyasha, if you wanted me to sleep with you tonight, all you had to do was ask, and when I mean sleep, I meant REAL sleeping, not he other one."
"awww, shucks" he said teasing. He looked down at her and into her eyes. He leaned his face down and placed a quick kiss on her lips, then pulled away.
"Kagome, will you do the honers of sleeping with me in my bed tonight, and I mean real sleeping?"
"Yes I will"
"good" he said, and picked her up bridal style, carrying her into his bedroom.
He placed her down on the bed, lying down next to her, and pulled the covers over the both of them. He pulled her to him so that her head was resting against his chest. He kissed her head and whispered a 'good night' to her. She replyed by kissing his chest. A few minutes later they had both fallen asleep. Waiting for what the new day would bring them.
