Disclaimer- I don’t own a thing about Inuyasha, but I do so love to torment the characters.

So sorry about lack of updates. Between my kids and myself getting sick, and real life biting me in the butt, I haven’t had much time to do much of anything, but I promise to update a bit more often now. ^-^

Warning: A rather nasty lemon in this chapter. Don’t worry, there is a point to it that will be revealed in later chapters.

The return

The great taiyoukai stood indignantly as two giggling human women fawned over the fuzzy appendage known as his tail. A low guttural growl rose to his throat, but the women knew the demon lord was all bark and no bite....well at least to them.

“Oh hush Fluffy, I’ll give you all the pizza you want for enduring the offence of humans touching your tail.” The younger woman huffed, rolling her eyes at the youkai’s actions.

Her mother grinned sheepishly up to Sesshomaru, her eyes dancing with delight as she rubbed his tail against her cheek. So soft, she thought. I wonder if my grand babies will have his tail as well as Inuyasha’s cute little ears. A sigh of contentment escaped Mrs. Higurashi at the thought of dozen of little hanyou grandchildren with Kagome’s hair, Sesshomaru’s tail, and Inuyasha’s ears played together in her head. She couldn’t wait!

“I’ll add a chocolate sundae along with the pizza if you’ll stop that growling Lord Sesshomaru.” The older woman teased lightly, giving the fluffy bundle of white one last caress with the tips of her fingers before releasing it completely.

It had been an eventful day since the taiyoukai had awoken from his drugged sleep. He had been angry, of that she could understand, but when the two Higurashi women explained the situation to him, and informed him of exactly how he had been acting under the influence of the drug the girl from the club had given him, he immediately calmed and managed to mumble out a thank you.

Unfortunately for the Lord of the West while in his induced slumber, he had allowed his tail to be released, much to the delight of the two women before him, and to his own dismay. After explaining what had happened, Kagome and her mother fell silent, watching intently the movement of his tail behind him and nearly ignoring his thank you. Shortly after he had mumbled his gratitude, the women pounced on fluffy white tail that he had completely forgotten about in the midst of their explanation of events. He was only reminded when the two females crept up behind him and began to assault his tail with a series of coos and caresses.
He was thankful that their fascination was now winding down, and that they were now abandoning his personal space and going about their business. His comfort was short lived, as their absence led to the thoughts that had been haunting him for much of his time here.

The proud taiyoukai lifted his head up as the thoughts that plagued his mind began to run free. Although he would never admit it, had immensely enjoyed his time in the future. For humans, he had found Kagome’s mother a delightful creature, who like her daughter seemed to nearly explode in cheerfulness and kindness. He imagined that when Kagome reached her age, that she would act much in the same manner as her mother, although probably a bit more stubborn. Mrs. Higurashi’s kindness wasn’t the only thing that caught his attention. Her loyalty to her children and father had also earned her the respect of the youkai lord. He understood now why it was the Kagome would follow around his idiot brother as she did.

The thought of Kagome caused Sesshomaru’s golden gaze to turn towards the younger woman, a mixture of emotions clouding the golden hues of his eyes. He was slowly beginning to understand a bit more about the miko. By watching her with her family and friends, he had learned quite a bit. She went out of her way to make everyone happy, often forgetting about her own needs to ensure that others were satisfied. While she had a temper, she was never above admitting when she was wrong, and apologizing. What amazed him the most was how easily she could smile and give willingly trust anyone she came in contact with.

A silent sigh escaped his parted lips as his thoughts drifted back to the problem at hand. His whole intention on taking Kagome had been to use her as leverage to gain the Tessaiga, and possibly use her as a mistress until he could find himself a mate. Deep down, Sesshomaru understood that Kagome would never accept this position, she just wasn’t the type. He could not imagine the girl bedding down with anyone whom she did not care for deeply. He knew the girl had never rutted with his half brother, even though he was certain she thought herself to be in love with him, that in itself spoke volumes about her character. If she wasn’t willing to settle for someone she thought she loved, then the person who finally claimed her innocence would have to be something.

As if sensing the youkai’s thoughts, the girl in question turned to smile up at him. “A penny for your thoughts Sesshomaru.”

Sesshomaru looked at the miko with a delicate brow perked. “Penny?”

Kagome chuckled quietly with a nod. “It’s a figure of speech, it’s just a way of asking what’s on your mind.”

Sesshomaru eyed Kagome inquisitively, debating how he should approach the situation at hand. He knew they would need to talk, she was after all coming to stay at his castle. He also wanted to discuss putting behind the differences and working together to take down Naraku. He had no doubts in his abilities to take down the evil hanyou that was plaguing his time, but he felt with an ally as powerful as Kagome to fight along side him, the fight would go much smoother. Although he didn’t know the extent of her powers, he knew that she was the protector of the Shikon, and that no ordinary miko would be given this task. It was rumored that the miko who was chosen as the jewel’s protector was the most powerful of the miko’s in existence.
There was also the matter of his own feelings, while he would never admit to having them, he could not deny them to himself. Even his beast seemed to have it’s own opinion of the miko. He could hear it’s howling echo in his mind whenever she was out of sight, struggling against his control to ensure that the woman was safe. He wouldn’t admit his fondness for the miko from the future, but he wouldn’t act as if they were enemies. He could settle on building a friendship with the girl, and he had even intention on protecting her...even from his idiot half brother.

“Hn.” He replied, still piecing together in his mind how he would approach the subject only to settle on telling her the truth. “Miko, I wish to offer an alliance between us in the fight against Naraku.”

Blinking owlishly, she flashed him one of her most brilliant smile, and Sesshomaru could have sworn that even the sun would be envious of how it brightened the room. “I’d like that Sesshomaru....but what about my friends? Does the offer extend to them too?”

The youkai lord thought briefly over her question. He didn’t really have a problem with the exterminator, monk or the kitsune which she traveled with, but his brother? “With the exception of Inuyasha, I extend the offer of alliance for the extent of their lives.....Inuyasha only until Naraku is defeated.”

Kagome nodded with a small sigh. “I think that’s all he’ll need anyway. Once Naraku is dead, he’ll be going to hell with Kikyo, so that’ll pretty much be the extent of his life.” She was unable to mask the sadness on her face, or the pain that had filled her eyes leaving Sesshomaru to bear the hurt in her expression.

“I do not understand, what do you mean going to hell with the undead miko? I thought you to be his intended mate.”

The sad chuckle the resounded in his ears only caused him to dislike his half brother even more then he already did. He did not like seeing the usually bubbly miko look so upset. He mentally cursed his brother for causing the woman before him, who obviously loved him more then he deserved, so much pain. Her soft whisper barely reached his ear, but he managed to catch. “Yeah right, I’m only the reincarnation of his love, why choose me when he can have her.”

A frown briefly fell over the features of the stoic demon lord, but was quickly replaced with the mask of coolness. He didn’t acknowledge that he heard what she had said, but he was sure she knew. Instead he opted to change the subject, not wishing for her to be saddened any longer. “Tell me Kagome, what of the kitsune who travels with you? Do you wish for him to stay with the others while you are at my home?”

Kagome’s brow creased in thought, having nearly forgotten that when they returned she would be going to Sesshomaru’s castle to stay. What would Shippo do? She knew she could trust Sango and Miroku to look after the little kitsune, but he would miss her, and she would miss him greatly. The little fox youkai had managed to make his way into her heart, until he felt more like a son to her then anything else.

“Could he stay with me? I know it’s a lot to ask, but...well, I don’t trust Inuyasha not to bully him around when I’m not there.” Kagome asked sheepishly, chewing lightly on her lower lip as she waited for a response.

Sesshomaru could only growl at her words. So Inuyasha thought to bully around a pup that was not his own? What was it that his half brother could do right? First he chose to go with an undead woman instead of the sweet smelling temptress who stood before him, breaking her heart in the process. Then there was the fact that he of how he treated Shippo. And of course, there was always the fact the he ran around Japan, mistreating the sword which their father had bestowed upon him. It surprised him that the hanyou had managed to live as long as he had.

“The kitsune is welcome to join you, as are the exterminator and the houshi. However, I will not allow Inuyasha and his undead whore on my land.” He stated firmly, leaving no room for argument.

Thinking that the offer was more then generous for a demon who despised humans, Kagome nodded in agreement. “Then I’ll be allowed to see my friends when we return?”

Mauling over her request for a moment, he reluctantly nodded. “Only to inform them of the invitation, and reassure them of your well being.”

Squealing in delight, Kagome closed the distance between herself and the taiyoukai, quickly throwing her arms around him in a hug. “Thank you so much Sesshomaru! It means so much to me that you would welcome my friends into your home.” Another dazzling smile left Sesshomaru nearly speechless at just how beautiful the young miko standing in front of him really was. Her happiness only made her more beautiful as she seemed to glow radiantly with each smile she gave him.

Shaking his head, he stepped out from her grasp, only to offer her a half hearted explanation for his actions. “If I am to be allies with them, I want to be sure that they are worthy of my assistance. I would also like to form a plan of attack for the final showdown with Naraku.” He was only telling her part of the truth. He did in fact wish to make plans, and to make sure he had made the right choice in offering his alliance. But the fact that he wished to give the miko something to be cheerful about again would never be revealed.

Grinning, she sprinted from the room to go up to her own room, calling out over her shoulder. “I’ll go get my bag and we can head back as soon as you’re ready.”

Watching silently as the girl disappeared, he became aware of another pair of eyes watching him. Turning, he found Mrs. Higurashi watching him with concealed amusement. She knew that Sesshomaru’s feelings for her daughter were more then he let on, but would never dare voice her opinions within ear shot of the demon lord. Instead, she decided to take the opportunity of her daughter’s absence to have a heart to heart with him.
“Lord Sesshomaru.” She bowed her head politely, motioning for him to come closer.

Approaching the older woman, Sesshomaru allowed a momentary slip of his mask to show a small half smile. He had a feeling he knew what was about to unfold, but did not allow his features to show this, instead he allowed the mask of coolness to return to his features and stood in front of the woman.

“Lord Sesshomaru, I am trusting you with my firstborn, and my only daughter. I am hoping that you can do a better job protecting her, and keeping her from pain then your half brother does.”

Sesshomaru blinked at the woman’s words, but said nothing. He didn’t really know how to respond. The woman in her own way was giving Sesshomaru her consent to take her daughter away from Inuyasha. For a moment he thought to say something along his usual lines of “This Sesshomaru does not need your consent.” Or, “I am only assuring a strong alliance for the fight in which we will soon encounter.” But something in the older woman’s eyes said that she would not believe his words. Instead, he only nodded to her and turned to move back towards the door.

As if on cue, Kagome bounced into the room, lugging around the huge yellow backpack. Donning a pair of loose fitting jeans and a blue tee shirt, Sesshomaru nodded his silent approval of her appearance. In he preferred this look, rather then the indecent little outfit she usually wore which made her look more like a woman of ill repute then the innocent creature he knew her to be.

“Miko, are you ready to return?”

“Wait, just one minute.” Unaware of Kagome’s actions, she dashed into the kitchen to pack away the rest of her supplies. After a few moments, the young girl panted breathlessly as she reached Sesshomaru’s side. “Okay, I’m ready. Let’s go.” Turning to wave to her mother, Kagome pushed open the back door. “Bye mom, I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

Had Kagome known what would await her when she returned on the other side of the well, she might have reconsidered going back.

She and Sesshomaru made it through the other side of the well in silence. The demon lord catching hold of his friend once they had returned, he leapt gracefully over the side of the well, sitting the girl gently down on her feet.

Kagome took in the sight of her surroundings with a smile. Everything seemed in place, at least until her eyes met with a small circular object resting on the side of the well. Upon approach, Kagome discovered that it was a mirror, much like the one that Kanna carried. With a small frown, Kagome stood over the mirror, motioning for Sesshomaru to come over. “Sesshomaru, do you detect Kanna around?”

Try as she might, Kagome couldn’t sense the presence of any other youkai, other then the one who was already in her company, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that the mirror was some sort of a trap.

Sesshomaru already knew who had left the mirror there, but he did not inform Kagome of this. He could smell the lingering scent of his spy on the small object, and knew what it was. What he didn’t know was exactly what the mirror would portray when it was activated. Shaking his head at Kagome’s question, he lifted the mirror up cautiously, holding it so that they could both view the image that came into display.

He heard Kagome gasp at the scene which began to unfold before her.

Inside the mirror-

A piece of bright red fabric peeked out from under the naked forms of Kikyo and Inuyasha, splayed out in an intimate embrace. Kikyo lay beneath Inuyasha, her legs wrapped around his waist, as the hanyou lavished her neck with open mouthed kisses. They grinded against each other, moaning in pleasure.

The moans were interrupted by Kikyo’s voice. “Take me Inuyasha, make me yours.” She murmured, staring up at her lover with lust filled eyes.

“Kik...Kikyo!” Inuyasha grunted, rocking his hips against the woman beneath him.

A male voice broke in, a voice that only Kagome would recognize. “May I join in?” The voice was followed by the image of a naked Enraku entering the picture.

The request only brought a seductive smile to grace the undead woman’s lips. Gently she pushed Inuyasha off of her only to raise up on her knees in front of the human male in front of her. Turning to glance over her shoulder at Inuyasha, she licked her lips before turning back to Enraku. Her pink tongue darted out from between her pale lips to lick the already swelling member of the human male, lightly tracing the length of his shaft with her tongue.

In moments only the sway of her onyx hair marked the motion of the woman’s head as it bobbed up and down between Enraku’s legs. A hiss escaped his lips, his fingers tangling into the tresses to force the undead miko’s mouth further down his manhood.

Behind the two Inuyasha watched, looking almost as if he was in a trance. That trance was broken when the woman moaned loudly, shifting her position so that she was on her hands and knees. Sticking her rounded bottom out, she presented her womanhood to her hanyou lover, beckoning him with her moans to take her.

Unable to resist, Inuyasha rose to his knees behind Kikyo, and in one swift move rammed his already erect rod into her core. His hands rested on her hips as he began to thrust into her, causing her to go down even further on Enraku’s manhood.

“Kami....Kikyo....I love you!” He managed to growl out, his breath leaving him in heavy pants. Inuyasha leaned down across Kikyo’s back, and just before the scene faded, sank his fangs into the flesh between her shoulder and neck, marking her as his mate.

The two who were witnessing the tryst through the mirror stood in silence, one choosing not to speak, the other unable to speak. Neither looked at the other out of embarrassment, their eyes remained transfixed on the horrible mirror. Sesshomaru pulled in a breath though his nose, scenting the air to try and discover what his counterpart was feeling. Luckily for him he had done so when he did, because seconds later Kagome fell to her knees and began to retch violently, soon vomiting all the contents of her stomach.

As she returned to her feet, the taiyoukai dared a glance in her direction. What he saw surprised even the great stoic lord himself. Instead of tears, or at least a saddened expression he was expecting, the young miko wore an expressionless face that could put even him to shame. Her chocolate hued eyes, which usually sparkled were glazed over and dull. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, without even a suggestion of movement. He could read nothing of her emotions, which was unusual for his strange friend.

Sesshomaru felt himself wanting to join her in vomit session, feeling the bile rising in his throat at the conclusion of the mirror’s image. His first thought was that his brother had to be the stupidest creature on the face of the Earth. He could smell the scent of his spy all over the mirror, and could only be lead to believe that the shadow demon, or one of his clan had actually witnessed the scene first hand. He mentally noted to pay the youkai extra for the of suffering whomever had witnessed the event.

His next thought was that the trio would be meeting with his claws for causing Kagome pain that he was sure she was hiding. He wasn’t sure why she was hiding it, or if she was just in shock to what she had witnessed.

Daring to move, the inu-youkai rested his hand on the girls shoulders, hoping to offer her some comfort. To his surprise, the girl threw herself against him and began to sob uncontrollably. “I..don’t...know...why I’m surprised.....knew he...wanted her....” She began to sputter between her sobs and hiccups. Sesshomaru patted her back awkwardly, allowing the young woman to cry until she got it out of her system.

While Kagome was distracted with her sorrow, Sesshomaru caught sound of the rustling of leaves and crunching of grass warning him of people approaching. He moved to push Kagome behind him so that he could prepare for a confrontation, but the voices of their visitors put him at ease, and he continued to hold the weeping miko in his arm.

“I wonder if Kagome went back home. Maybe Inuyasha went to go get her.” A small childish voice stated.

Instead of a verbal response, all that could be heard was a loud slap which echoed in the forest around him. Following the shout was a shout of, “Hentai!”

A quiet chuckle quickly followed by a mock innocent tone of a male. “My dear Sango, you wound me. I was simply trying to avoid falling so that I would not land on top of you.”

The odd little trio broke out from the cover of the trees, coming to a complete halt as they stared at the couple in front of them. Sango visibly paled when she realized who was standing in front of her, her hand tightening around Hiraikotsu moving it quickly from behind her. Miroku’s face was expressionless for a moment, then a look of worry and surprise replaced the bland expression. He held his staff stiffly beside him, but was prepared to use it if the need should arise.

Shippo was the only one who dared to move or speak. When his eyes landed on Kagome, he immediately jumped down from Miroku’s shoulder and rushed over to the woman who was like a mother to him. Looking from Sesshomaru to Kagome, the small kit gently tugged on Kagome’s pants. “Kagome? Are you alright?” Noticing her tears, he turned to glare at Sesshomaru, putting up a brave front even though inside he was scared to death. “What did you do to her? Why is she crying?”

Sesshomaru growled at the small kitsune, his eyes narrowing slightly. He stopped as he felt Kagome stiffen in his arms. Stepping back from Kagome, Sesshomaru scooped Shippo up and placed him on Kagome’s shoulder. “Pup, Kagome needs some comfort. Stay with her while I go speak with the others.” While his voice wasn’t overtly friendly, it was warm enough to convey that he meant no harm.

With mirror in hand, he approached the two others, noticing that they were prepared to pounce at any moment. With a silent sigh, he shook his head. He would have assumed that seeing him trying to comfort would have put their mind at ease, but apparently he had assumed wrong. Without waiting for them to acknowledge him, he spoke quietly enough so that Kagome couldn’t hear. “I’m not here to fight, there’s some things we need to discuss, now follow me.” Stepping past them, he moved further into the forest, not bothering to glance back to see if they were following.

The confused duo looked at each other with arched brows, then back to the taiyoukai who was moving away from him. Curiosity getting the better of them, they trudged along behind him. They stopped at the still form of the taiyoukai, cautiously approaching him while eyeing up the item in his hand.

No words were spoken as he held up the mirror, allowing the images to play for the duo before him. When he was sure it had ended, he lowered the mirror down to his side, not wanting to torture another person with the horrible scene. Looking at the two stunned faces in front of him, he gave them a minute to recover from the shock.

He glanced between the two, noting the different waves of emotion coming from them. Sango’s face was contorted in an angry scowl, fury and disgust radiating off of her. The houshi on the other hand looked rather nonchalant, but Sesshomaru could sense the disgust rising in him. What confused him though, was the fact that the monk seemed a bit apprehensive as well. Sesshomaru passed it off as the lech trying not to make a perverted comment that would cause the exterminator to slap him senseless, but when the man was finally able to speak the taiyoukai found that wasn’t the case.

“Lord Sesshomaru, are you certain that this isn’t a trap set by Naraku? He would do anything to break apart our group so he can destroy use one at a time.”

Shaking his head, Sesshomaru explained about the kidnaping, and about his spy whom he had asked to carry Kagome away. He told them that he had asked the shadow youkai to create the mirror, but that he didn’t know that the tryst is something that had been witnessed and would have been the memory which the mirror revealed.

After several more minutes of silence, Sesshomaru spoke up again. “It was never this Sesshomaru’s intention for the miko to witness such an atrocity. Had I known of this, I would have never allowed it to be seen by her. I only wanted her to witness the half breeds betrayal of her affection, so that she wouldn’t feel obligated to return with him after her stay at my home.”

The two humans nodded to him, still unsure of what to say. Deep down they had both known that sooner or later Inuyasha would eventually break Kagome’s heart by going off with Kikyo, but they had thought it would only be when he returned to hell with her. This was a whole different sort of betrayal all together. Not only had he mated with Kikyo, but he had done so while he believed that Kagome was kidnaped and in trouble. If Kagome had really been in danger, she surely would have died while awaiting rescue, while the hanyou was off screwing a walking piece of pottery.

Wanting to sooth her devastated friend, Sango excused herself and rushed off in Kagome’s direction, leaving the two males to stand in strained silence. To Miroku’s surprise, Sesshomaru broke the silence once again.

“Houshi, I have spoken to Kagome, and have offered to become an ally to her during the final fight with Naraku. While this Sesshomaru is not entirely fond of humans, I know that you as well as the exterminator are her companions, and she would be hurt if something would happen to you. I am extending the offer to the two of you, as well as an invitation to join us at my home. I understand if you do not wish to come, but if you would like to become allies, I insist that you come for at least one day so that we can go over a strategy for the hanyou’s defeat.”

Blinking in surprise, Miroku stared at Sesshomaru, unable to hide his mild amusement. He couldn’t really answer him, he was too surprised to even respond with anything other then a nod. When his stunned mind finally did piece together an answer, he was cut off from responding by a loud slapping sound. For a moment the lecherous monk raised his hand to the back of his head, waiting for a sharp pain to flood his senses. When none came, he relaxed.

Sesshomaru and Miroku looked at each other, then off to the direction the sound had come from both arching a brow. In an instant they were off, charging towards off in to where they had left Shippo and Kagome. They were forced to come to a halt as they approached the scene.

To one side stood Kagome Sango and Shippo. Sango stood stiffly, her face red and twisted in anger. In her hand was the large bone boomerang, poised in front of her and ready to be tossed at their opponents. Next to her was Kagome, Shippo still standing on her shoulder. Shippo was posed in a fighting stance on Kagome’s left shoulder. The little kitsune looked just as angry as the exterminator, which greatly surprised Sesshomaru. He would have never considered the tiny kit capable of so much anger.

The greatest waves of anger however were coming from Kagome. The young miko was standing indignantly straight, her chocolate brown eyes burning with fury, and her cheeks flushed red with her anger. In balled fist she held what looked to be the remainder of a bead necklace. Her body shook uncontrollably, whether it was sobs, or the fact that she was restraining herself from violence, Sesshomaru couldn’t be sure.

In front of Kagome was a rather disgusting trio, each disheveled and half dressed. Directly in front of Kagome stood a bewildered Inuyasha, sporting a bright red hand print on his cheek. He was bare chested, his pants just barely hanging on his hips. One of his clawed hands brushed against the cheek which had just been slapped. His other hand, which had just moments before been groping Kikyo’s bare breast, now dropped down to his side.

Kikyo stood behind Inuyasha, but off to the left. The woman had nothing on at all, except a white button up shirt, which was completely undone and hanging wide open leaving her exposed. Her tousled black tresses were knotted in the back, indicating she had been spending a lot of time on her back.

Behind her, dressed in only a pair of boxers and a white undershirt stood a smirking Enraku. His left hand was resting on Kikyo’s rear, reminding everyone briefly of their favorite perverted monk. His other hand was in his boxers as he absently stroked himself, despite their audience.

No made a sound, or even blinked an eye. Each person examined the other in turn, trying to figure out exactly what was going on. Finally a low rumbling sound reached everyone’s ears, causing each to turn towards the sound.

A growling Sesshomaru moved to put himself between him and Kagome, but stopped when he heard her finally speak. The girl had to face this fight on her own, but he would make his move is any of the other two decided to try and jump in.

With a voice full of bitter ice Kagome spoke, he eyes glaring into Inuyasha’s face. “I see you and your...whatever she is over there decided to finally come back. Tell me jerk, how long would you have waited to finally come and find me?” Inuyasha opened his mouth, but the second he did Kagome shouted “Sit!!” to shut him up. Leaning down over the grounded hanyou, she began to speak again, shocking everyone with her words. “You’ll shut the hell up while I’m talking, and if you make another noise I’ll sit you until you’re on the other side of the world.”

Inuyasha was unable to speak, even if he wanted to. He had never seen Kagome so angry, and never heard her use such a cold tone. He had a feeling that the young miko wasn’t going to forgive and forget this time.

“You know Inuyasha, it’s a good thing I really wasn’t in danger. I’d have been dead waiting for you to finish screwing your little hoochie over there. But thanks for doing it, you made me realize you didn’t really care a thing for me, or for my welfare. If you had, I’m sure that, that abomination spreading her legs wouldn’t have been a distraction.” Kagome didn’t like the words she was using, or even what she was saying, but she wasn’t going to let the idiot think he could walk all over her.

After her time with Sesshomaru, she had come to realize that it was Inuyasha who needed her, not the other way around. Maybe it was the fact she could have an intelligent conversation with Sesshomaru, and not be insulted, or it could have just been the fact that Inuyasha’s actions had finally pushed her over the edge. She felt numb, and embraced the feeling for as long as she could. She knew it would hurt her later on, but while the pain hadn’t come, she was going to at least try to make the hanyou feel some of what she knew would be coming.

Circling the trio, she dared any of them to speak. At the moment she knew she would tear into them if they even tried to clear their throats. “So tell me Inuyasha, how does it feel to know you’ve lost the only person who ever really cared about you? How does it feel to know that the one person who didn’t care about you being a jerk hanyou now despises you? Here I am, following you willingly, promising to stay with you...and you can’t even keep your promise to protect me. AND even better!!! You go and screw the bitch who handed over half of the Shikon to Naraku and did everything in her power to kill both of us. It’s funny, I used to stand up for you all those times that Sesshomaru insulted you, but now I have to agree with him. You really are an idiot half breed.” Her chest tightened at her own words causing a pang of pain, but she ignored it. “I’m through with you Inuyasha, consider yourself on your own. I’m going with Sesshomaru, and when I’m done I’m giving him the jewel to do with as he sees fit.”

Having heard enough Kikyo stepped forward to say something, but was quickly silenced by a slap across the face by Sango. “Shut the hell up. No one wants to hear what a walking clay pot has to say.”

Fighting against the power of his necklace, Inuyasha struggled to sit up. “Don’t you talk to my mate like that!” He growled, the amber hues now twinged with streaks of red. He didn’t get a chance to say anything else because another “Sit!” was shouted.

“Inuyasha, your mate betrayed us all, we have every right to say what we want to.” The voice of reason for the group, Miroku, finally spoke up. “Because of her, we have a major fight on our hands to destroy Naraku, and now that she’s no longer pure, she is no help at all. So the only thing she did was make the rest of our lives harder because she was too stupid to consider her actions.” Shaking his head, he moved towards Sango whispering into her ear. He waited until she nodded to speak again. “Sesshomaru, Sango and I gladly accept your offer. We will follow you and Kagome when you leave.”

“What?!?!” Inuyasha shouted out, completely clueless to what was going on.

Glad to be able to finally rub everything in Inuyasha’s face, Sesshomaru stepped in front of the group and before Inuyasha. “You see little brother, your friends...” He was interrupted as Sango blurted out “Former friends.” Glancing at Sango, he nodded then continued. “Former friends, have agreed to join with me in the fight against Naraku. I’ve also offered them an invitation to stay with me at my castle.” Glancing over his shoulder, he glanced over to Kagome, giving her a “Play along with me” look. “I’ve also asked Kagome if she would become my mate.”

He could hear the two humans behind him murmuring in surprise, Kagome herself had gasped quietly. Inuyasha’s response however was priceless.

Fighting against the subduing spell, he would push himself up only to be forced back into the ground. The hard he fought against the spell, the harder his face met the ground. Between mouthfuls of dirt, he shouted. “What? You....can’t....mate...with...her...she’s.....mine.....”< br>
Kagome had heard enough. Lowering a silent Shippo to the ground she rushed towards Inuyasha with a speed the surprised everyone. Grabbing the first thing she could, a fallen branch, she began to beat Inuyasha over the head. “I am not yours! Yours is the undead thing standing there letting some other guy grope her. Don’t ever...and I mean ever insult me like that. I would never fit into a category with that filthy skank.”

Kikyo began to laugh, a harsh malicious chuckle. “Of course you do, you’re my reincarnation after all....despite the fact you’re a weakling. You’ll never have the powers that I do.”

Kagome stopped beating Inuyasha over then head and turned to glare at Kikyo. She was about to go off when a little voice in her head chimed in. “You’re not her reincarnation. Remember Enraku is Miroku’s reincarnation, and look how much they act alike. Think about it, if you were her reincarnation, wouldn’t you be able to do what she’s doing now without being revolted?”

Blinking at the idea that had just jumped into her head, Kagome grinned. It was true, she could never act anything like Kikyo, not even when she wasn’t being a whore. “Really Kikyo? I’m you’re reincarnation? Tell me then, how come I’ve never spread my legs for a single person, much less two of them? How come I’ve never betrayed my friends, or those I care for? If I am you’re reincarnation, how come I’ve still got my powers, and you don’t?” Smirking, Kagome stepped back towards her group.

Kikyo’s laugh died at Kagome’s words, taking them into consideration. If what she said was the truth, then that would explain why the part of Kagome’s soul which she carried fought to escape her, instead of the rest of Kagome’s soul coming to Kikyo. Every time the two met, Kikyo could feel the partion of Kagome’s soul which she held struggling to return to it’s original owner. Pressing her lips into a thing line, Kikyo went silent, unable to contradict what was said.

Inuyasha stared at the two women in dismay. If Kagome wasn’t really Kikyo’s reincarnation, then he had been spending all this time forcing Kikyo’s image on Kagome. He had tried to make her into someone she really wasn’t, and would never be. His eyes blinked several times, trying to absorb all that was going on.

Around them, everyone else was silent. Kagome had made her way back to Sesshomaru and stood by his side. She was tired of this confrontation, and desperately wanted to get away. She didn’t want to look at Inuyasha anymore, or probably ever. She meant what she said about breaking her promise. Although it killed her to do it, she couldn’t spend the rest of her life staying beside someone who couldn’t really care whether she was in danger or not.

Grabbing her bag, she moved over to Sesshomaru, speaking quietly to him. “I’m ready to go now.” Turning to her friends, she smiled. “You guys ready to go?”

Nodding, Sango called for Kirara. The little firecat soon appeared, shifting into her larger form as she approached her mistress. Giving the neko a gentle pat on the head, Sango climbed onto her back, Miroku following suit. “We’ll follow behind you.”

Kirara took off, leaving Sesshomaru and Kagome. Before Inuyasha or his group could protest, Sesshomaru scooped Kagome up into his arms. A small cloud formed under his feet and soon the two were up in the air flying west towards Sesshomaru’s lands.

What none of Inuyasha’s former friends witnessed was the flash of red that flickered in Enraku’s eyes, or the spider tattoo on the small of his back, covered by his shirt. His lips curled in a smirk as he watched Kagome and Sesshomaru take off, only to be replaced by a lustful grin. “So, are we going to stand around here all day, or are we going to continue?”

I’m probably going to be editing this chapter soon. I’m a little disappointed with the end, but it seems that writer’s block is getting the best of me again. >_<
