"Kaze no Kizu!" InuYasha roared as the ogre became dust in the wind. With a look of unmistakable pride on his face, the hanyou shielded Tetsusaiga. Kagome skipped over to where the ogre was standing a moment ago and bent down to retrieve the Shikon shards.
"Great job, InuYasha!" Kagome smiled up at him as InuYasha approached her.
"Keh! It was nothing," InuYasha turned away but not before Kagome noticed the hint of blush creeping up his cheeks. "Besides, our real opponent is Maekoshi. I can't locate her scent anywhere."
It's been three days since Kagome returned from her time with InuYasha. The hanyou had been very attentive and sort of nice, in his own way, for the past few days. Deep down, Kagome knows he blames himself for not being able to protect her from this. Trying to tell him it wasn't his fault didn't work since InuYasha was one of the most stubborn bakas in the world. Kagome sighed heavily, drawing InuYasha's attention.
"What's wrong?" InuYasha asked, concerned.
Kagome was about to reply when a girl dropped right between them.
"Inu-chan!" The girl screeched. Throwing her arms around the shocked hanyou, she hopped up and down in joy.
Everyone could only stare, flabbergasted at the scene before them. The girl looked up and squealed in delight, reaching for InuYasha' dog-ears. Kagome recovered from the momentary shock and her eyes glinted with a possessive light as she gritted her teeth together. 'That's not fair! I don't even get to touch those!' Kagome noted, fuming. Her mouth turned down at the corners as she looked on. Kagome flushed bright red as she realised how irrational her reaction was. 'Is this how he feels when Kouga's around?' Kagome cleared her throat loudly.
The sound seemed to startle everyone out of their various states of shock. InuYasha shoved the girl off his ears, cheeks reddening with embarrassment. "Get the fuck off me! Who the hell are you, anyway?" InuYasha's eyes narrowed in suspicion. Leaning forward, InuYasha sniffed. Sensing no immediate danger, he relaxed a little. "What are you?"
Miroku seemed hardpressed not to laugh. His fingers were smashed over his lips, eyes squeezed together, feigning a cough every now and then. Sango's elbow was positioned over Miroku's ribs, ready to attack if necessary.
Kagome was confused by the question. She looked at the girl, still smiling sweetly at InuYasha, and understood. This girl had no youki, but she didn't look human either. . .
The girl giggled, seeming almost nervous under everyone's scrutiny. Her hair was black with pink highlights, tied into two ponytails at the sides of her head. Her pink eyes were concentrating on InuYasha, staring at him with avid interest. She wore a short fuchsia kimono. Hanging from her neck was a little, pink box.
"My name is Mizuki," she announced, batting her eyelashes at InuYasha. "I'm a star youkai--"
"Would you fucking stop that?" InuYasha bellowed, still flushed. "And you're not youkai. You don't smell youkai."
Mizuki seemed delighted that InuYasha was speaking to her. She grinned, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. "I am youkai. We are rare, since we don't come here that often. Not many people know of our existence. We watch over people in the sky, that's what we do."
"Alright. Say we believe you, why can't we detect your youki and I don't smell a single thing from you?" InuYasha asked, eyes still refusing to meet any of them.
"Well. . .We can hide our youki and our scents. We try not to attract attention. We're not from your world, after all. . ." Mizuki trailed off.
"Interesting. . ." Miroku commented before getting elbowed hard by Sango. Miroku glanced at Sango with a What-Did-I-Do look. Sango rolled her eyes and looked away.
Kagome opened her mouth to suggest they move on when InuYasha spoke in a suspicious tone.
"Do you know Maekoshi?"
Mizuki pouted and folded her arms over her chest. Her eyes drifted to his ears above his head and smiled. "Yea. . . But---"
Kagome's eyes widened at that statement. She was surprised InuYasha caught on the similarites before any of them had. Then again, InuYasha had always been smart.
InuYasha cracked his knuckles and unleashed a growl. "Great, you can tell me where to find that bitch."
Mizuki stared at him for a long time, all traces of admiration gone. Her shoulders seem to slump more with every passing moment and the sadness in her gaze was evident. Finally she sighed and spoke. "I can't."
InuYasha snorted. "Why the fuck not? Defending your own kind?"
"I have a mission here." Mizuki's grimace turned into a smile. "Gotta run! Bye, Inu-chan!" With that, she blew InuYasha a kiss and ran in the opposite direction.
"Shit! We've got to follow her!" InuYasha started to pull Kagome on her back.
"Be rational InuYasha, how can we follow her when none of us can detect a trace of her?" Miroku pointed out reasonably.
". . .Whatever. Star youkai. . . Keh! Cowards, every last one of them," InuYasha's glare shifted to the sky. At that a moment, a small piece of rock fell into his eye. InuYasha hollered in pain and furiously rubbed his eye with one hand and waved the other fist in the direction of the sky.
Kagome shook her head. "Baka."
InuYasha shot Kagome an incredulous look and stomped towards her. "What do you mean, baka?"
"It means you're a baka!"
InuYasha blinked in confusion. "What the hell did I do?"
Kagome's tempered flared at his blatant ignorance. "Oh, let me see, nothing!" InuYasha flinched and flattened his ears against his skull. "Why don't you run over to her and give her a kiss too, you dog!"
Miroku cleared his throat and walked between the two. "InuYasha, you were getting a little too intimate with Mizuki-san. Although she is beautiful---" He was cut off mid-sentence by Sango pulling hard on his ear.
"You were saying, Houshi-sama?" Sango asked in an overly sweet tone.
"Ah, Sango, you know you are the most beautiful woman in my heart."
"Save it, you pervert."
Kagome crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the ground. "Well? Inu-chan?" She mimicked.
"Bitch---"
"I'm not!"
"You are!"
"I'm not! You are such a---"
A resounding slap echoed through the clearing, followed by Miroku's satisfied sigh and Sango's "Pervert!". InuYasha and Kagome turned towards the couple at the same time and back. It was comical, and Sango would have laughed if she wasn't so annoyed by the cursed monk.
"I don't even know why I bother argueing with you!" Kagome cried. "And I thought you were finally nice for once."
"I didn't do a damn thing, I ain't apologising."
"Baka!" Kagome yelled.
"What---"
"Osuwari!" Kagome hollered.
"You---"
"Osuwari!"
"Fuck---"
"Osuwari!" Kagome screeched and InuYasha ate dirt for the third time. Gathering her bag with Shippou sitting innocently on it chewing on gummy bears, she stomped off in the direction they were meant to go. Sango followed, both women linking arms, bent on ignoring the boys.
"Ah InuYasha, the life of a man huh?" Miroku sighed happily, rubbing his face with the red hand-print.
"I'm not you, pervert." InuYasha glanced at the backs of the women as the subjugation spell wore off. "Women." He muttered to himself.

Kagura's eyes were glinting with amusement as Rin tackled Sesshoumaru mercilessly. To see the great youkai being brought to his knees by a child was proving to be very entertaining.
"Sesshoumaru-sama, give it to me!" Rin whined as she continued to feel for her flower.
"I will not," Sesshoumaru replied coolly while struggling.
Rin turned her pleading eyes towards Kagura. Kagura laughed and shook her head as she walked out of the chamber into another one. This chamber was built specially for herself. It was very open, with few furniture to hinder her movements.
Kagura had been pleasantly surprised and elated when Sesshoumaru had invited her to live with him after she had been brought back to life. The days spent here were the happiest days of her existence. She was touched to tears when Sesshoumaru had led her to this room. To think he'd been so considerate to build her a room with freedom as the theme. The day after she'd been ressurected, Sesshoumaru had wanted to know how did she come back.
"I don't know," Kagura admitted. "I was in the wind, and there was this strange force pulling me from somewhere. I felt it call out to me, and it sounded like you. . .It was then I saw my feather. I followed it, hoping it'd bring me somewhere and I saw you. . ."Kagura trailed off.
Sesshoumaru broke into his usual enigmatic smile. "I see. . ."
"What are you thinking about?"
"It is nothing," Sesshoumaru replied quiet and looked into Kagura's magnenta eyes.
His amber eyes seemed to melt into liquid gold as he stared at the wind sorceress right before him. For a moment Kagura thought she saw a hint of relief, but all that fell away from her mind when Sesshoumaru suddenly lowered his head and gently pressed his lips against hers. "Kagura. . ." He murmured.
Kagura was surprised by the sudden kiss. Slowly, her lips begun to move against his, in perfect symphony. Her hands rose up to cup his face, tracing his crests. Sesshoumaru reached out to pull her closer, to crush her against his chest. He couldn't afford to lose her again. Losing himself in the kiss, reveling in the beauty of the wind, Sesshoumaru's fangs grazed against her bottom lip. Kagura shivered in pleasure and leaned in, brushing his bangs away from his face. Resisting the sudden urge to cry, Kagura squeezed her eyes tight and held him close to her.
Sesshoumaru leaned away and looked into Kagura's face. Using his knuckle, Sesshoumaru brushed away a tear. "Kagura?"
"No, forgive me. I just thought that was beautiful. I feel truely like the wind with you," Kagura whispered.
Sesshoumaru smiled tenderly at her and they held each other close, staring at the sunset.
Kagura was jolted out of her reverie when the wind wrapped itself around her, as if trying to protect her from something. It was a warning, Kagura realised. But from what? Naraku was dead. The real danger was gone. Out of habit, Kagura placed her hands on her chest to feel her heart, afraid that Naraku had come back and taken it away from her. Relaxing when she felt the steady beating, Kagura frowned and concentrated on the restless wind. 'What is happening?' Kagura mused.
"I've noticed it too," Sesshoumaru remarked from the doorway.
Kagura turned around and smiled. "Have you given Rin the flower?"
Sesshoumaru's lips twitched. "I told her Jaken took it."
Kagura shook her head "Poor imp."
Sesshoumaru shrugged. He waited for Kagura to continue but she turned back and resumed her staring at the rest of the world. "Any idea what it might be?"
Kagura's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Huh?"
"What is causing the restlessness in the wind?" Sesshoumaru mused.
"I guess we shall find out soon," Kagura answered in a worried tone.
"Whatever it is, This Sesshoumaru shall be ready for it," With that, he took Kagura's hand and together, they went to search for Rin in the castle.

Shippou sat in the middle, seemingly confused by the adult's childish game. The adults in question were split into two groups and it didn't look like they were going to talk to each other anytime soon. Shrugging, Shippou grabbed his teddy and hopped onto Kagome's lap, getting ready to fall asleep.
Kagome glanced down at the kitsune and stroked his hair, humming a soft lullaby her mother used to sing to her. As she watched Shippou drift off to sleep, Kagome sighed. 'Maybe I was too much,' Kagome thought sadly. She glanced at InuYasha sitting with Miroku at the bottom of a giant oak tree, his back facing her. 'I should apologise to him. I wonder why I reacted like that,' Kagome sighed heavily and carefully set the kitsune aside, getting up to make a peace offering for the stubborn hanyou.
InuYasha's ears twitched as he heard the rustle of movements behind him. Kagome's scent floated through his nostrils and he stifled a whine. Miroku's head turned towards him and he lifted an eyebrow in question. Before he could answer, a cup of ramen and a pair of chopsticks were shoved under his nose.
"Hungry?"
InuYasha glanced up at Kagome, cheeks stained with red yet her stance was stubborn, set on making him eat the cup of ramen.
"Keh!" InuYasha took the peace offering and started eating. Truth betold, he was ravenous. He was just too stubborn to admit that. Grudgingly, he inclined his head towards Kagome, mouth full of noodles, and muttered, "Thanks."
Kagome understood the meaning hidden in that one word. "I'm sorry, InuYasha."
"You dun av anyfink to be 'orry fer," InuYasha replied.
Kagome shook her head at his lack of manners. "Don't talk with your mouth full."
InuYasha ignored her. Kagome giggled and quickly bent down to kiss InuYasha on the forehead. Sighing in contentment, she ducked her head and laid her head on InuYasha's shoulder.
"Keh," InuYasha said gruffly, setting his cup down and putting an arm around Kagome.
'I'll never have a proper conversation with InuYasha. This is nice enough,' Kagome smiled and snuggled deeper.
Miroku coughed and stood up, making his way to Sango who was sleeping against Kirara's fur. Kagome's surprised shriek woke Sango and she sat up, reaching for Hiraikotsu. Kirara growled behind her.
"Look! A meteor shower!" Kagome clapped her hands in glee and pointed at the stars. "Quick! Make a wish!" Closing her eyes, Kagome pressed her hands together at her chest and smiled. 'I wish InuYasha and I would be together forever.'
"Whats a 'meteor shower'?" InuYasha asked.
"It's something we call in our time," Kagome replied excitedly. "Just make a wish! It'll come true!"
"Keh! What do you think this is, a Shikon no Tama?" InuYasha mocked. 'I wish Kagome would stay with me. Be safe. . . '
Kagome shook her head and shifted her cheek to InuYasha's chest, listening to his steady heartbeat and continued looking at the meteor shower. InuYasha lifted and wrapped both arms around her. He felt Kagome smile and couldn't help but smile back. 'It's so easy to make her smile. . .'
Sango glanced at Miroku to find him staring at her intently. Blushing, Sango reached out to take Miroku's hand and they both rested against Kirara's fur, watching the sky.
No other words were uttered for the rest of the night, everyone lost in the beauty of the stars and each other.

She snickered. 'So the Queen is protecting them, huh?' Toying with the Shikon shards in her possession, she glared at the sky.
"Well, we shall see who has the last laugh," Maekoshi giggled with an edge of menace.
