The Western family left at the healer's motion. They walked slowly to the main room of the family quarters. There they sat
in silence.

It was Sesshomaru that asked, "What comes next?"
Inu Taisho took a chair to the fore and right of his son. He sensed the twin lean against the wall to his right. He
watched the miko his heir had taken to mate, all the while thinking about his responce.
Kagome sat on her mate's lap. Her head lay on Sesshomaru's left shoulder. She was thinking about what her soul's twin had
said. Then she started to stand, only for him to tighten his grip. Looking into his eyes, she arched an eyebrow and the
unspoken question in her eyes was answered when he growled and then barked several times. Looking to his sire, Kagome
inquired, "What did he say?"
Taisho said, "He wants you to be still." Then to the twin, the former lord asked, "Zephimaru, will you bring Kagome that
strange bag we retrieved."
"It's in the nursery," Kagome said. She then tiled her head back and felt her mate lick his mark. She trembled slightly
then.
Taisho smiled at the sight of his son interacting with his mate. Then he remembered what Sayuri had said. Speaking to
Kagome, he asked, "What did Sayuri mean when she said, " It is right that you are the Shikon Miko?"
Kagome shrugged her shoulders.
Then they felt it. In the corner of the room, a strange golden light appeared. The three stood as it gathered until at
last the form of a woman who stood no taller than five and a half feet tall. She smiled with a reserved air to the youkai
lords. Then it gentled as her brown eyes came to rest on Kagome. "Hello, child. I am Midoriko. Your soul twin will be
alright. She is right. You are the Shikon Miko, the miko who will guard the Shikon until time itself passes. All that you
have suffered, done and the choices you made have brought you down this path. What was done to you by Kikyou and those of
your group was wrong. Nevertheless, it was the final test. You made an unselfish wish. Now the Kamis have decided to
return it to you. There in your pure heart, it will remain until time is ended."
"Why me?"
"Why my mate indeed?" asked Sesshomaru testily.
