Taisho, Sesshomaru, Zephimaru, Greta and Kagome were stunned.
Kagome then burst into tears.
Sayuri, weak as she was, sensed what Kagome was going through. She drew on her reiki and draped it over Kagome, sending
her to sleep. "Sesshomaru, take your mate to your room. Sit with her until she wakens. Then make love to her. DO NOT LET
HER MOURN!"
Sesshomaru nodded and left, cradling his mate close in his arms.
Taisho asked, "What was the signal?"
"A pulse of my chakra in form of a butterfly."
"Why?" asked the confused former lord. He had been trying to imagine what the signal was on his own. However, he had
failed and so asked.
Zephimaru asked, "How were you able to move with all your limbs either broken or out of socket?"
"I grew up getting my limbs broken. I simply learned how to cope."
Greta interrupted then. "Here, Lady Sayuri. Drink this broth and then eat some soft cereal," she said.
Sayuri nodded. She looked at Taisho and then said, "In two days, I will need to borrow Ah-Un and go off grounds. I must
tend to someone."
"Why?"
"Naraku claimed the lives of three whose path was not finished. In two days, the door to them will open. I must be there
to guide them."
"I will go with her, Father. I can protect her," said Zephimaru.
"Sayuri?"
"Gladly accepted."
Two days later, Sayuri stood in her miko garments as she waited for Zephimaru to saddle Ah-Un. With her waited Kagome. The
two stood silently.
Finally Sayuri asked, "Do you know why I did what I did?"
"No."
Sayuri faced her soul twin. "Kagome, you cannot take my pain for me. Without realizing it, you were seeking to take my
pain for me. It was and is too much. I was given to serve as protector. I am elder. You were born to be healer and leader.
We are equal in power, strength and rank. My pain is mine to bear. If need be, I can carry yours too."
"Oh, sister."
Sayuri drew the shorter young woman to her. Like a mother, she held Kagome to her. She saw Sesshomaru and Taisho walk
toward them. She pushed her soul's twin back then. "I will return soon."
Kagome nodded and Sesshomaru drew her against his chest. "You will return soon?"
"Hai, lord brother. Tomorrow we will spar. Be prepared becuase I have tricks up my sleeve you have never faced," said
Sayuri. She mounted Ah-Un and with the Western prince at her side, she headed to the place where she had laid the three to
rest. They traveled in silence for the two hours it took to get there. She landed first and asked her escort to wait
outside. This part of it Zephimaru did not like. Still he did as she asked.
Sayuri entered the building. It held one room. In this room lay the sleeping forms of a dark-haired young woman, a dark
-haired boy and a white-haired little girl. For a minute, she looked at each one. Then she went to the side of the dark
-haired boy. Kneeling there, she whispered, "Kohaku." She waited a minute and then whispered his name again as she pulsed
her reiki.
Kohaku opened his eyes and looked at her.
Sayuri smiled as she looked at the once more living brother of Sango. She saw the hope, love and life in his brown eyes.
"Hello, young warrior."
"Sayuri-Tenshihime. How can I repay you? You restored my life."
"Kohaku-kamioi, you have no need to repay me. I restored your life because it was right that it be given a chance to
continue. Live honorably and do not let your deeds done under Naraku be a snare. That is all the repayment I want," Sayuri
said. She smiled at the lad as she stood to move to Kagura's side. She looked down on this incarnation of Naraku. She
thought back to the times she had seen the tall female. "Kagura of the wind."
Kohaku looked at her as this strange woman called to the wind sorceress. He honestly was unsure as to how he felt toward
her. Sure Kagura had helped him, but it was due to Naraku's orders. Was it not?
Sayuri said, "Kagura. You were made of the wind. Like the wind you sought to be free. What will your choice be now? Give
up your freedom and choose to be bound to me knowing I will never ask you to do as Naraku did? Will you choose to fight
and enjoy a freedom that is really no freedom? What will you choose?"
Kohaku listened and knew that somehow her words applied to him as well.
Then the wind stirred and the spirit of it landed before her. "Princess."
Kagome then burst into tears.
