Chapter 2:Battle and Hot Springs

When InuYasha awoke the next morning Kagome was already out of the tree and in the fields. That was where he found after searching the forest around the tree.

 

"Why do you do all the work?" InuYasha said, catching up to her

 

"Because Kikyo forced my father into squandering his money upon her. She said that I must be her slave." Kagome told him bitterly, turning away. InuYasha pulled her into an embrace but Kagome pulled away.

 

"I do not want to soil my lord's fine clothing." Kagome said

 

"That doesn't matter." InuYasha informed her. Kagome smiled.

 

But this moment didn't last long as a scream pierced the morning air.

 

With lightning fast reflexes Kagome had her bow and her quiver of arrows on her back and Sango was by her side on a large cat-demon.

 

"What is that?" InuYasha questioned

 

"This is the cat-demon Kirara belonging to Sango." Kagome explained quickly before climbing on behind Sango.

 

"I'm coming." InuYasha got on behind Kagome.

 

"Okay but stay out of danger please." Kagome and Sango begged and InuYasha reluctantly agreed

Upon arriving at the site of the scream InuYasha was shock ed at the horrific state of the village being attacked Kagome and Sango pushed InuYasha towards the rest of the village hiding in the woods before running into battle with Kirara.

 

"Hiraikotsos!" Sango yelled throwing her boomerang. Kagome pulled an arrow back on her bowstring and fired. A heavenly purplish-pink light surrounded the arrow and with the cry of an eagle the arrow struck down one of the hundred demons. Sango and Kagome drew swords and began to fight with even more ferocity.

 

Suddenly a demon struck down and bit on Kagome's arm. Sango came and hacked the demon in half.

Kagome and Sango came to fetch InuYasha and the village many hours later. They were both covered with some serious cut and bites but they still helped the village rebuild. Kirara took them home and Kagome and Sango went to the village healer Kaede who patched them up.

 

InuYasha walked Kagome home. Kikyo came storming out. She was carrying a leather riding crop in her hand.(A/N: You know those things jockeys use in races to make the horse go faster? FYI)

 

"Where have you been?" Kikyo demanded

 

"Out helping a village." Kagome said. Kikyo struck her with the whip multiple times.

 

"Next time you must finish your chores first!" Kikyo screamed before storming back into the hut. Kagome let one tear fall before heading off to do her chores. InuYasha went after Kikyo.

 

"Why did you strike her!?" InuYasha demanded

 

"She must do her chores before anything else." Kikyo replied simply, sipping the tea she poured out of the kettle over the fire in the fireplace, "Tea?"

 

InuYasha shook his head then stormed out after Kagome.

He found her in the fields on her knees, blood trickling down her arms while other farmers helped to complete her days' work.

 

"Poor child that Kagome." one farmer said to InuYasha

 

"Why?" InuYasha asked

 

"She's lives with Kikyo. Kikyo is a tyrant. I would take her in but Kikyo threatened to kill Kagome and the rest of us if we took her away." replied another farmer

 

Kagome sobbed a little before getting up again and continuing on the plow.

Later Sango and Kagome took Sesshomaru, InuYasha and Miroku to the hot springs. The girls got one and the boys got the other. A small grove of trees separated them.

 

The guys had been arguing over which of the two was hotter. InuYasha said Kagome but Miroku said Sango. Sesshomaru was just sitting there when his pointed elf-like ears prickled.

 

"Shhhh..."he shushed the other two

 

They stopped bickering and listened. Sango and Kagome were having a serious talk.

 

"Can they hear us?" Kagome asked

 

"No. InuYasha and that monk-Miroku I think is his name-are arguing which of us is hotter." Sango told her.

 

Kagome sighed, "Okay."

 

"So did Kikyo beat you?" Sango's voice broke the short period of silence.

 

"Ya. I expected it but the pain is still there."

 

"Okay."

 

InuYasha, Miroku and Sesshomaru wrapped towels around their lower halves and went to spy on Kagome and Sango from behind some trees. Sango was sitting in the Hot Spring but Kagome had a towel held up to her front and was sitting on the edge. Miroku and Sesshomaru winced when they saw all the bloody cuts, some from Kikyo and some from the demons.

 

"Well I think I might leave but where would I go?" Kagome said, "I mean I can't go to InuYasha. I mean he lives in damn paradise he doesn't need me to clutter things up."

 

"Well Kirara and I will go with you." Sango got up and sat next to Kagome. She put a comforting arm around Kagome's shoulders.

 

"What about your brother?" Kagome asked

 

"Well he has a wife now so I suppose I could tell him we are leaving. He would understand. He knows Kikyo."

InuYasha went and sank back down into the hot spring. 'Kagome wants to be with you!' his mind screamed at him. Sesshomaru followed

 

"HENTAI!!" Sango shouted, the sound of a hand on a face and a loud thud told the brothers Miroku's perverted ways would never end. Inuyasha shook his head.

Returning to the castle InuYasha approached Sesshomaru.

 

"Brother may I hold a ball to choose a wife?" he asked

 

"Okay." Sesshomaru eyed him suspiciously, "You want to invite that girl Kagome right?" InuYasha nodded, "Okay."
