“Hurry up, Rin! We only have 10 minutes to get to orientation!” A young woman, aged in her early twenties yelled up to another woman who was above her. “Come on, Rin! Get out of that tree, you're going to hurt yourself…and we're going to be late!” The woman yelled again, her long black, curly hair pushed back behind her ears, her hair shining with a midnight blue like color. Her blue eyes gazed angrily at her friend who just acted like she had no worry in the world.

“Aw, Kagome, we have plenty of time. I just would like to get a better look at our campus; it's something when you see it at this height.” The other young woman smiled, she was of a shorter height and looked much younger in her appearance but was the in her early twenties. Rin brushed back her medium length dark black hair behind her right ear as light brown eyes were full of joy and wonder as she looked on at the main building on campus, surrounded by the entire new freshman for the year.

“Why can't you just live a little more and have some fun.” Rin said with a pouted lower lip and looked down at Kagome as the she just kept her stern gaze at Rin.

“I'd have a lot more fun if we got to where we needed to be on time, geez first it was the fortune teller and now this…are you really my friend?” Kagome asked in question as she watched her friend keep her pouted lip and sad gaze.

“Ok, how about I'll treat you to some shaved ice after orientation if you come out of that tree now.” Kagome said, talking Rin into giving in as the young woman soon smiled and swung one of her legs over the branch that she was sitting on.

“Ok, ok you got me. But you better not forget on giving me my shaved ice.” Rin said as she leaned her weight to the side, making her way towards the trunk of the tree.

“Rin! Watch out!” Kagome yelled as she saw the branch lose its stability and begin to crack and lower. Rin grabbed tightly onto the branch and looked down towards her friend.

“Kagome, help.” Rin spoke out as she crawled slowly towards the trunk of the tree, squinting her eyes as she watched the tree branch she was on bounce a bit and begin to break further, feeling her weight go farther down. Kagome watched in a fear for her friend, they weren't near anyone to get any help and leaving Rin by herself would just make the situation worsen.

`What can I do?' Kagome thought as she watched the branch drop some more, barley hanging on to the rest of the tree. `Maybe I can try and catch her when she falls.' Kagome and Rin widened their eyes as they watched the branch break from the tree with a loud `crack' Rin making a bit of a whimper sound as she felt herself drop.

“Rin!” Kagome yelled as she watched her friend drop, Kagome's hair flying in front of her face from a fast change in wind covering her eyesight as the force dropped her back, making herself fall.

Kagome shook as she heard the quick thunk of the tree branch dropping to the ground. Afraid to brush her hair away from her eyes.

“Um…uh…” Rin spoke out as if nervous about something, Kagome swinging her head forward and brushing her hair away as she was still down on the ground. Looking up she watched as Rin's entire face was turned red in a deep blush, two strong male arms held the woman up in his arms as his long silver hair stayed still with a few strands resting in front of his back. His height was that of at least 6' 1”, but what was simply amazing were his looks.

Rin gazed up at the man's face, two triangle shaped scars adorned on either sides of his face, a purple crescent moon was placed on his forehead, but what really attracted Rin to this man were his golden eyes filled with such emotion, his face may look that of being serious but no one could hide anything through there eyes.

“He must be a youkai.” Kagome whispered to herself, standing up as the youkai's elfish shaped ear twitched and turned his head towards Kagome as she stood up and brushed herself off.

“Nice of you to be perceptive.” The youkai said simply as he lowered Rin down onto the ground slowly.

`Oh that's right…youkai have that super sound thing with there ears…' Kagome thought to herself as she gave a grimaced look towards the youkai who just remained emotionless on his face, turning to walk away and towards the main campus of the college.

“Oh…um…thank you!” Rin spoke out in a rather loud tone; the youkai turned his head towards the girl.

“Hmph.”

The youkai then sped up a bit and made his way towards the main campus once more. Leaving the two girls to watch his back that was now barely visible.

“So Rin are you doing okay?” Kagome asked as she poked Rin's cheek a bit, seeing the young woman still gaze at the direction the youkai walked off to. “Rin?” Kagome poked at the young girl again watching as the girl snapped back into reality.

“Huh?” Rin turned her head and looked over to Kagome. “Oh, Kagome. Wasn't he just…I don't know…awesome?”

“Awesome? That's not the word I would use, I'd say more of a conceited pretty boy is what he looks like.” Kagome spat out. “Those guys are full of themselves; I'd stay away from him if I were you, Rin. Plus he probably has his own fan club.”

“Hmph…oh well, though I at least he saved me…” Rin spoke out. “So why don't we head out to the campus, we've only got 5 minutes now!” Rin said towards Kagome grabbing her arm and started at a run.

“Oh my god, well `Miss I'll decide to climb a tree and fall' made me forget.” Kagome said as both girls picked up speed.

“You better not forget that shaved ice you promised me!” Rin laughed as Kagome just sighed as the two women kept making there way towards the campus.

“Oh, I can finally see it!” Kagome spoke out as they approached the building where students gathered around out front, frantically moving about with gossiping going on about which classes each other had, the right books, who there teachers where, the usual stuff.

“Oh that reminds, do you have your papers, Rin?” Kagome spoke out as she reached into the knapsack on her back to grab her own paperwork.

“Yep, of course I do!” Rin said as she pulled out a blue binder, filled with filed papers, a golden chain hung on the upper edge of the binder that held a purple furry item.

“Rin.” Kagome said as she pointed towards the small furry item. “What is that?”

“Oh this?” Rin spoke up as she took the item in her hands and lifted it up from the chain. “It's a lucky rabbit's foot. I got it that day we went to the fortune teller; they're supposed to bring you good luck.” The young woman smiled as she held the rabbit's foot in her hand.

“That's gross.” Kagome spoke out simply.

“No, it's not! I got you one too!” Rin said as Kagome had found her binder seeing as a rabbits foot hung from her binder as well except hers was white instead of purple like Rin's had been.

“Rin! I don't want this piece of hairy road kill on my papers!” Kagome yelled out as she tugged on the chain that held the rabbits foot. Rin just pouted as the two soon heard a deep male's voice begin to speak out from the front of the main building. “Shit, I'll have to worry about it later.”

“Oh I guess it's starting.” Rin spoke out as people around her shushed her, as the man continued to speak.

“Welcome to Shikon University.”
