Chapter 4

Personality Changes

"Inuyasha." Sesshomaru said. He stood in front of them with the same emotionless face. Next to him stood Rin. She had grown since they last saw her. She was sixteen now. (Sorry if I'm wrong but in my fic she's sixteen.)

"Sesshomaru." Inuyasha said. He was standing in front of everyone. Sesshomaru suddenly appeared next to Inuyasha. He held him by his throat. Inuyasha kicked his chest and jumped back.

"I'm not here to fight." Inuyasha said.

"Ah but it doesn't matter." Sesshomaru said. He ran forward to hit Inuyasha. Sesshomaru hadn't known about his enhanced speed or additional strength. Inuyasha was able to dodge him. He still wasn't as fast as Sesshomaru but he didn't know how fast he was so he used it to his advantage.

Sesshomaru quickly turned around and swung at him. Inuyasha did a back flip to dodge it. Meanwhile the others were watching. All they did was look for him to ask a question but they ended up seeing a fight instead.

"Okaa-san why is Otou-san fighting with that guy?" Inuki asked.

"Well that guy is his half brother." Kagome said.

"That means he's my uncle?" Inuki asked. "I didn't know I had one."

"Well he's not too friendly." Kagome said.

"Who's that girl next to him?" Reiha asked. "She's pretty."

"I think that's Rin." Kagome said. She walked around the fighting brothers. Now that Inuyasha's skills improved they were basically dodging everything they threw at each other. "Ano, You're Rin right?" Kagome asked.

"Hai." Rin said. She looked at Kagome. "Okaa-san?"

Kagome's eyes widened. She didn't think Rin would recognize her, let alone remember calling her that. "Ah hai." Kagome said.

Rin jumped forward and hugged her. "I haven't seen you in years." Rin said.

"I know. It's been a long time." Kagome said. "As much as I'd like to talk to you right now we need to stop the baka's over there."

"I agree." Rin said. "Any ideas?"

"Hai I think I have one." Kagome said. She formed an arrow and shot it between the brothers. They were both running at each other and had to stop suddenly when the arrow landed in front of them.

Each brother looked at where the arrow came from. "You should stop fighting. It's pointless now." Kagome said.

"Hai and Sesshomaru I know you don't want to fight Inuyasha so stop teasing him." Rin said.

Inuyasha looked at Sesshomaru. "You're teasing me?" He asked.

"I haven't wanted to fight you for a while. Did you not think it odd when I stopped attacking you?" Sesshomaru asked.

"I was a little too busy to notice." Inuyasha said.

"How about we all talk?" Kagome said. "We can all sit…" Inuyasha slammed onto the ground. "Gomen."

Inuyasha was about to get up but Inuki, Shippo, and Reiha jumped on his back. "Kagome." Inuyasha grunted.

"Gomen Inuyasha. It was an accident I swear. Inuki, Shippo, Reiha you weren't supposed to do that. It was an accident." Kagome told them. "How about we all have a seat then?"

Inuyasha got up and cleaned himself off. One of these days he was going to get that rosary off of his neck. He sat down and waited for the others to do the same. They all sat down in a circle.

Sesshomaru sniffed the air a little. "So you have a child of your own now?" He looked at Inuki.

"Hai, his name is Inuki." Inuyasha said. "Inuki meet your uncle, Sesshomaru." He said sarcastically.

Inuki walked up to Sesshomaru and sniffed him. Sesshomaru did the same but not as noticeable. Inuki finally stopped and jumped into his lap and hugged him. Sesshomaru let out a grunt and patted his back.

Everyone but Rin was shocked. They had never seen Sesshomaru act do that. He never gave his emotions away. But there he was hugging Inuki.

"So I see you've changed." Kagome said. "It's because of Rin isn't it?"

"I didn't do anything." Rin said.

"You never saw how Sesshomaru was." Kagome told her. "They both used to fight every time they saw each other. I assume he left you behind. He never showed his emotions or act like he cared except that one time."

"Really?" Rin asked Sesshomaru. "How come you fought him every time? He's your brother."

"Half brother. I wanted the tetsusaiga." Sesshomaru said.

"Which you're never going to get." Inuyasha said.

"I no longer want it." Sesshomaru said.

"Anyways since we haven't seen each other in so long. You remember Sango and Miroku?" Kagome asked. Rin nodded. "Well that's Kohaku, Sango's brother, and that's Reiha their daughter."

"She's so cute." Rin said.

"How about we bring up the real reason we're here." Inuyasha said impatiently. "Someone is trying to kill Kagome. Have you heard anything about it?"

"Perhaps they are after the jewel." Sesshomaru said.

"No. A youkai attacked us a while ago and said that they were given a power boost by someone who said they would tell them where to get the jewel as long as they killed Kagome." Inuyasha said.

"What's the Shikon no Tama?" Rin asked.

"You were too young to remember." Kagome said. She pulled the jewel out of her shirt and held it in her hand. "It's a jewel with great power."

"Oh. So then why would they want you dead?" Rin asked.

"That's what we're trying to figure out." Inuyasha said.

"Maybe they just want to kill the protector of the jewel." Miroku said.

"But the youkai said he would be given power and the jewels whereabouts only if they killed Kagome." Sango said.

"Maybe someone's mad at her." Reiha said.

Everyone looked at the child. "Um maybe we shouldn't talk about this in front of the kids." Kagome said. "Why don't you guys go play over there." Kagome pointed in front of her.

"You know how far you have to go." Sango said. "Shippo why don't you play with them. We'll fill you in later."

"Hai." Shippo said. Everyone watched the kids walk away. As soon as they were far enough they continued to talk.

"Why do they have to go so far?" Rin asked.

"Inuki has really good hearing." Kagome said.

"I didn't think he'd have that much youkai power. He's only a quarter youkai right?" Rin asked.

"Well my miko powers kind of enhanced them a bit. Since he can't be a miko my miko powers give him hanyou abilities." Kagome said.

"Really? Are you a powerful miko?" Rin asked.

"Of course she is." Inuyasha said with pride.

"Lets get back to the matter at hand. Have you heard anything of this?" Miroku asked Sesshomaru.

"No." He said.

"Have you ever heard of someone who could grant people more power?" Sango asked.

"No." He said.

"Well have you ever heard of a half snake half human youkai who could control snake youkai?" Sango asked.

"No." He said.

"Dammit." Inuyasha said. "We came all this way for nothing."

"I don't think it was for nothing." Kagome said. "We got to see Rin again and Inuki met his uncle."

"Your life is in danger and all you can think about is how good it is to see family again." Inuyasha said.

"Well excuse me for trying to make everything seem ok. It's the way I am. Besides my life has been in danger since I was fifteen." Kagome yelled.

"Gomen. I just worry." Inuyasha said.

"As touching as this may be, was there anything else you need to ask?" Sesshomaru said.

"No." Sango said.

"I would like to talk to Rin and catch up." Kagome said.

"Ok. Lets go somewhere else. Do you want to come Sango? There's a hot spring close by." Rin said.

"I'd love to." Sango said. They grabbed their bathing supplies and walked to the hot spring. "Keep an eye on the kids." They yelled.

"Damn women and their bathing habits." Inuyasha muttered.

"Ah but it is a wonderful sight to watch." Miroku said.

"You haven't seen them bathe in five years." Inuyasha said.

"Hai but that doesn't mean the memory of it is gone." Miroku said.

"Hentai." Inuyasha muttered. "So Sesshomaru what's with keeping the human around?"

"That is none of your concern." Sesshomaru said.

"He likes her." Miroku said.

"What, you do?" Inuyasha asked.

"Can't you see the look he gives her?" Kohaku said. "Even though he doesn't show emotions love isn't one that you can hide."

Everyone looked at Kohaku in shock. "Where in the hell did you hear that stuff?" Inuyasha asked.

"Miroku told me about it a long time ago." Kohaku said.

"Oh that's right I remember now." Miroku said. "I didn't think you were listening."

"I was." Kohaku said.

"Sesshomaru's going to get a mate huh?" Inuyasha asked. "And to think you hate humans. Is that why you stopped fighting me? Because you realized if you took a human mate your pups would be hanyous?"

"No." Sesshomaru said. "Rin convinced me to stop attacking you."

The girls had just gotten in the hot spring and they all sighed. "So Rin what have you been up to?" Sango asked.

"Nothing really. I travel with Sesshomaru all the time." Rin said.

"Oh and do you like Sesshomaru?" Kagome asked.

"W…What do you mean?" Rin stuttered.

"We can see the look in your eyes." Sango said. "You like him."

"Well I guess." Rin said.

They stayed in the spring for an hour and then got out and sat on the ground and talked for another hour. They decided to go back when they got hungry.

"What the hell have you been doing?" Inuyasha yelled.

"We were taking a bath and talking." Kagome said.

"You couldn't bathe and then talk here?" Inuyasha asked.

"No we couldn't. Now if you'll excuse me I need to start cooking." Kagome said.

"I won't excuse you." Inuyasha said.

Kagome sighed. "I guess I won't be making ramen then."

No ramen? Inuyasha cracked. "Fine you can go cook." Inuyasha said.

"Yay ramen." Inuki jumped up and down. He loved ramen just as much as Inuyasha.

"Do you have any chocolate?" Reiha asked.

"After dinner you can have some as long as Sango says it's ok." Kagome said.

Kagome boiled the water and handed everyone his or her ramen when it was done. Sesshomaru and Rin ate ramen with them. They had forgotten how it tasted.

After everyone had eaten they sat in a circle again and talked. The kids went and played away from the group. They were trying to figure out where they could get answers to who was trying to kill Kagome.

"Okaa-san, Otou-san." Inuki and Shippo yelled.

"What is it?" Kagome asked.

"We smelled something funny over there where we were playing." Shippo said.

Reiha ran to Sango. "I saw something black coming over here." She said. "It was moving fast."

Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stood and smelled the air. Something didn't seem right. Kagome didn't have a good feeling about it. Neither did Miroku. "Something's coming." Kagome said. Every stood in a defensive stance waiting for whatever it was to come.
