Chapter 10

Old Friends and A Youkai

The next morning Kagome woke up still a little mad at Inuyasha. She got out of bed and changed. Then she walked downstairs for breakfast. "Good morning Kagome."

"Morning Okaa-san." Kagome said. "Morning Inuki, Souta." She ignored Inuyasha.

"Good morning to you too." Inuyasha said.

"What did you plan on doing today?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

"I'd thought I'd go shopping." Kagome said.

"Can I go?" Inuki asked.

"I can't go I need to practice for soccer. I need someone to help." Souta said.

"Inuyasha will help you." Kagome said. "He can do it while we're gone."

"That's great Kagome can you pick me up some things?" Ms. Higurashi asked.

"Hai." Kagome said. Inuyasha glared at her. He wanted to go with them. He knew better than to piss her off when she was already mad, especially when he was the reason she was mad in the first place.

After breakfast Kagome walked upstairs to get dressed. Inuyasha came in a couple of minutes later. "Are you still mad?" Inuyasha asked.

Kagome ignored him and kept changing. She wasn't really mad anymore. He looked sad all during breakfast and she loved making him feel guilty. "Gomen." Inuyasha said. Kagome kept ignoring him.

"Come on Kagome I apologized." Inuyasha yelled. Then he realized her little game. He grabbed her around her waist. "You little bitch. You were just messing with me weren't you?"

Kagome smiled. "I can't stay mad at you for too long." Kagome said. "It is cute the way your ears droop when you feel guilty though."

Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "Can I go with you then?"

"But you promised Souta to play soccer with him. You can't just blow him off." Kagome said.

"You're the one that promised him for me, besides Inuki's human until tomorrow. He can't smell youkai around. How am I going to protect you?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Inuyasha if you haven't already noticed I can take care of myself and Inuki." Kagome said. She kissed the tip of his nose and walked outside. "You can come after you tire Souta out."

Inuyasha stood there for a couple of more minutes. `Tire him out eh?' He thought.

Kagome walked downstairs. She grabbed her purse and jacket. "Come on Inuki." She called. He ran downstairs and followed her out the door.

Inuyasha walked downstairs. "Come on Souta let's practice." Souta ran downstairs not knowing Inuyasha's plan of tiring him out within the first half hour.

Half an hour later Souta collapsed on the couch. "I give up you can go with Nee-chan." He fell asleep as soon as he heard the door slam.

Kagome and Inuki went to the mall. She wanted to pick up some clothes and a couple of things for her house. Inuki and Shippo hadn't gotten anything new in a while. She thought they deserved something good after their long and tiring journey.

After a half an hour of walking around Inuki complained he hadn't eaten enough during breakfast. "You're just like Inuyasha. You can eat a lot of food." Kagome said.

"Really?" Inuki asked.

"Hai." Kagome said. They sat down and he had ramen. (Duh) Kagome waited until he finished eating. She felt someone was watching her. She turned around and looked to see who was staring at her.

She couldn't see them. She couldn't get the feeling to go away. The person must have been hiding. "Kagome!" Someone squealed. She looked for the voice. It was her old friends Yuka, Ayumi, and Eri.

"Hey guys." She said.

"We haven't seen you in forever." Ayumi said.

"Ha ha well I've been gone." Kagome said. The last time she talked to them she told them she moved and wouldn't be able to visit often.

"I know but you could've called." Yuka said.

"Well I don't really live around a place where you could get good phone reception." She said. She hoped they bought that lame excuse. "Besides I just got done with my trip."

"Kagome who's this?" Eri asked looking at Inuki.

Suddenly Inuki jumped up. "Otou-san." He ran over to Inuyasha. He had a red baseball cap on his head. Kagome turned around and looked at them.

"You didn't kill Souta did you?" She asked.

Inuyasha smirked. "No, I just did what you said."

"What exactly did I say?" Kagome asked.

"I can come when I tire him out." Inuyasha said. He and Inuki sat down at the table with her.

"It's only been a half an hour." Kagome said.

"He's asleep on the couch." Inuyasha smirked.

"Inuyasha." Kagome said.

"You're still with him?" Yuka asked.

Everyone turned their attention to the three old friends. They'd forgotten about them after Inuyasha came. "Hai." Kagome said.

"You ate ramen without me didn't you?" Inuyasha asked. He could smell it.

"Inuki wanted some." Kagome said.

"Hai, Okaa-san bought it for me." Inuki said.

"This is your son?" Eri asked.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"Wow a lots happened since we last heard from you." Ayumi said.

"Hai, I've got my own family now." Kagome said.

"Why didn't you contact us?" Yuka asked.

"I've been through a lot recently." Kagome said. Then she felt it again. She stood up and looked around.

"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

"I think someone's watching me." Kagome said quietly enough for his ears only. "I have this weird feeling."

Inuyasha sniffed the air for anything strange. He couldn't tell from all the scents. There were too many youkai and humans around. "I can't tell." He said hoping she would get the message.

"What's wrong Kagome?" Eri asked.

A girl out of nowhere came up to the group and stood directly in front of Kagome. "Miko." She said. "Have you come here to eliminate us all? There aren't many of you left you know."

"What business do you have with me?" Kagome asked.

"You're trying to kill us all aren't you?" The woman said.

"What do you mean I'm not trying to kill anyone?" Kagome said.

"Don't lie. You're a miko. You're job is too eliminate us." She said.

"Now why would she do that when she's my mate?" Inuyasha asked. He'd whispered it so no one else could hear.

"Who cares if she mated a hanyou. She'll probably purify your youkai side." She looked to Kagome. "I'll just take care of you myself." She swung at Kagome.

"You'll reveal who you are attacking me like this in public." Kagome said as she dodged her blow.

"Who cares the only reason we hide is so that you miko's can't kill us. Who cares about pathetic humans anyway?" She ran at Kagome again.

"Kagome." Her friends yelled.

Inuyasha jumped in front of Kagome. "You can't kill her." He said.

"Why? Do you think you can protect her?" The woman said.

"Of course I can protect her." Inuyasha smirked. "I'm giving you a chance to run away with your life."

"I won't leave until she's dead. She's probably killed hundreds of youkai just for the thrill."

"I'm not like that." Kagome said. She was aware that a crowd was starting to gather.

"Nothing you can say will save your life." She jumped over Inuyasha and landed in front of Kagome. She grabbed her neck. Kagome was really getting mad about everyone grabbing her neck. All she wanted to do today was go shopping.

She couldn't do anything unless she wanted people to find out the truth about her. She couldn't reveal the identity of youkai and miko's. People would freak out.

Inuyasha tried to step towards her. "Do it and I snap her neck in half." He stopped dead in his tracks.

"Can't you get any more original?" Inuyasha yelled. It was every youkai's line.

Kagome brought up her knee and kicked the woman in the chest while she was distracted. The woman was so shocked she let go. She couldn't sense the actual amount of Kagome's power so she thought she was weak.

Seeing the woman on the ground Kagome stopped trying to hide her miko identity to the youkai around her. She saw the woman eyes widen and run away. Kagome quickly hid her miko aura again.

"What the hell are you all staring at?" Inuyasha yelled to the crowd around him. They all walked away.

"Kagome are you all right?" Yuka asked.

"Hai." Kagome said.

"What was that all about?" Eri asked.

"I don't know maybe she was confusing me with someone."

"Why did she call you a miko?" Ayumi asked.

"Well I used to live at a shrine." Kagome said.

"Maybe she was just crazy." Inuyasha said.

"Maybe." Kagome said. She felt a wave of nausea hit her. She fell to the ground on her hands and knees. Her vision started to black out but her eyes were still open.

She saw something in the darkness. She could see outlines of people running and fighting. Who were they? The vision started getting more clear. She saw a large boomerang get thrown. Miroku and Sango were in trouble maybe?

"Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled as he shook her. She suddenly woke from the vision and clung to Inuyasha.

"I think Sango and Miroku are in trouble." She said. She looked to Inuki who was standing behind Inuyasha.

"Come on we have to leave then." Inuyasha said. He grabbed all of their bags and started for the entrance.

"Gomen. We couldn't talk more but I just remembered something important I have to do." Kagome said and left her friends. She grabbed Inuki's hand and walked out of the mall.
