Chapter 16

Someone To Help

Kagome waited for the arrow to hit her. Nothing happened. Instead she felt herself being lifted and carried away. She looked up and saw whom it was. She was shocked. It was Kouga. "You're always getting into trouble." He said.

"Kouga-kun what are you doing here." Kagome said.

"I was around and thought I'd help you out." Kouga said. "By the looks of it I got here just in time."

"Miroku, Sango get Inuki and Shippo out of here." Inuyasha yelled. He would have to thank Kouga later even though her really didn't want to.

"Hai." Miroku said. He grabbed Inuki and Sango grabbed Shippo they both jumped on Kirara and went to look for a safe place.

Kouga put Kagome down when Inuyasha got near them. "Arigato Kouga-kun." Kagome said and she hugged him.

Kouga hugged her back and looked at Inuyasha. He could tell he was getting mad. He let go when Inuyasha looked like he was going to jump him. "Anytime Kagome." He said.

"Arigato." Inuyasha said to Kouga. He was stunned that the hanyou would actually apologize. He nodded when his surprise faded away. "But now we have an even bigger problem."

"What are you talking about?" Kagome asked. "Are the kids ok?"

"Hai, Miroku and Sango took them somewhere safe but now I think Kikyo is really mad." Inuyasha said.

"Why do you say that?" Kouga asked.

"The last time I looked she was summoning a bunch of youkai." Inuyasha said.

"Why didn't you say something earlier?" Kouga said.

"Look we don't have time for this we need to deal with the youkai right now." Kagome said.

"She's right. I'll help." Kouga said.

"Arigato." Kagome said.

"You stay away from Kikyo." Inuyasha said. "No doubt she's pissed that you aren't dead. I'd watch your ass too Kouga."

"Like you'd have to tell me." Kouga said. "Why is she trying to kill you anyway?"

"To make a long story short we loved each other before we died. Kagome woke me up and I fell in love with her, Kikyo was resurrected and she wants to take me to hell but I chose to stay with Kagome and she won't be satisfied until Kagome's dead and I'm I hell with her." Inuyasha answered for Kagome. "Any questions?"

"Damn you had to go through all that?" Kouga said. "You should have just chose me."

"I don't think now is the time to be messing around Kouga-kun." Kagome said.

"I wasn't messing around." Kouga said seriously. "Let's go fight some youkai."

They all went back to where Kikyo and the hut were. Nothing was there now. Everything was gone. There was no wind no noise, nothing at all. "Be careful. This doesn't feel right." Kagome said.

"Probably a trap." Inuyasha said. He and Kouga stepped closer to Kagome so they could block off any hits that might be aimed for her.

They heard a screech from above and looked. A bird youkai loomed over them. Suddenly it started diving toward them. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome and they all jumped out of the way.

More youkai started coming from the trees. "Dammit." Inuyasha said. "Kouga you get that side and I'll get this side." He pointed behind him and Kouga nodded. They started attacking the nearest youkai.

Kagome stood in the middle not doing anything. She watched as Inuyasha and Kouga fought. She was watching for Kikyo. So far she couldn't see her anywhere. She knew the insane miko didn't run away.

More youkai just kept coming at them. Inuyasha and Kouga were being pushed back towards Kagome. The youkai were circling around them. "Hiraikotsu." The youkai that circled them were all exterminated.

"Sango." Kagome said as she came from the woods and gracefully caught her weapon.

"You're supposed to be watching Inuki and Shippo." Inuyasha yelled as he killed another youkai.

"Miroku and Kirara can take care of them. He can create a shield if he has to." Sango said. She brought out her katana and started slashing at any youkai that came too close to her. "Where's Kikyo?"

"She's staying out of sight." Kagome said. She shot an arrow above her to kill the bird youkai that was preparing to dive again. She jumped out of the way so it wouldn't land on her.

An arrow came from behind Kagome and shot her in the arm. It missed and managed to only graze her skin. "Itai." Kagome said. She brought a hand to the wound.

"I missed." Kikyo said. She had been hiding in the trees. "I won't miss again." She grabbed another arrow.

Kagome stood getting ready to dodge another arrow. She was going to try to avoid all her arrows. Unlike her Kikyo needed arrows and she was bound to run out sooner or later. "Dammit Kagome throw up a shield." Inuyasha yelled. The youkai were keeping him from running to her.

"That won't work." Kikyo said. "I can easily get my arrows threw her pathetic excuse for a shield."

Inuyasha looked around for someone who could get to Kagome and protect her. Kouga and Sango had their hands full at the moment. The youkai were purposely distracting them from reaching her.

Kikyo shot another arrow. Again Kagome was able to dodge it. When the third arrow was shot at her it managed to graze her leg. `At least I'm slowing her down.' Kikyo thought. She figured after a while Kagome would get tired and give up.

Kagome saw her chance to shoot an arrow at her. She formed the bow and hooked an arrow but she was shoved by a youkai close to her. She was knocked to the ground and she rolled a couple feet away from her original standing place. That caused the arrow to disappear.

Inuyasha, Kouga, and Sango kept trying to get to Kagome. Every time they killed a youkai another one took its place. They were wondering how the hell she got the power to summon demons.

"Kikyo I'll make you a deal." Inuyasha said as he dodged an attack. "I'll go to hell with you if you let Kagome live."

"You can't do that." Kagome said. She shot an arrow at another youkai.

"Her death is the only thing I want." Kikyo said. "Besides I can always come back for you when I'm ready to leave the world of the living."

"That's what you think." Inuyasha said.

Sango was knocked down to the ground and her katana was forced out of her hand. A youkai hovered over her ready to kill. The youkai disintegrated before her eyes. She looked up and saw Kagome smile at her. Sango jumped up and grabbed her weapon.

Since Kagome had helped Sango she couldn't see Kikyo shoot another arrow at her. This one grazed her other leg. Kagome tried to ignore the pain and ran. `She's not trying to kill me now. She's just playing with me.' Kagome thought. When she saw the smile on Kikyo's face she knew she was going to mess with her before actually killing her.

Inuyasha smelled Kagome's blood. He slashed though the demons in front of him faster. He managed to make it over to Kagome. "Are you all right?" He asked making sure none of her wounds were serious.

"I can handle it." Kagome said. She winced when Inuyasha touched a sore spot. "Watch out."

Inuyasha turned around and killed the youkai that tried to sneak up on him. He heard a scream. He knew whom it was from but he didn't want to believe it. He slowly turned around.

"Kagome?"

I hate to stop it there but I need to even out the chapter's length. There will probably be only one or two more chapters. They will be short like this one too. I hope you like it. Probably don't like the little cliffy I left. Let me know what you think. Ja ne.
