Chapter 12

Kagome was left to be acquainted with Papa while Sesshoumaru disappeared on them some time ago.

"So you live in Gin Sakura (silver cherry blossom shrine)." Papa picked out a good book and handed it to her to look at. Outside, the sky had gotten so dark it looked like nighttime.

"Hai, I just moved in on Tuesday..…Wow this looks pretty good!" Kagome looked at the title then a surprised look came over her face. "Oh Youkai and Hanyou History." There were three comfortable chairs in font of the fireplace, and Kagome sat down in one of them, in the distance thunder was heard.

"You may borrow it, but don't lose it. There are only so many copies in Japan." Papa smiled at her.

Kagome nodded. "Hai….." Kagome smiled back at him.

"You have Miko blood in you." Papa smiled warmly at her, Kagome looked at him startled.

"Are, ne, ano…..?" Kagome shifted in her seat and looked at something to her left.

"If you were to lie you would be very bad at it..…don't worry I felt your presence when you walked in this house though you concealed it very well. I'm not surprised you got it past Sesshoumaru." Papa chuckled at the stunned look on Kagome's face.

"Then, well, yes…..I am a miko…..on my father's side." Kagome sat down in a plush chair. "He died though…..when I was five or six I think. I didn't see him that often..…though when I did….." Kagome smiled.

"He'd take me everywhere: parks, museums, the ocean, so many different places he could think of….." Kagome sniffed. The rain pelted the window to her far left.

"I haven't talked about him, not even to my mother…..you know, she's not even my biological mother. Jii-chan is the only one related and that's on my mothers side…I love…my mother…I don't know where she went though. Jii-chan told me she had to go away on an important mission…actually."

Kagome's forehead creased. "Every time I try to remember her, Jii-chan always threw this powdery stuff on me and I'd forget temporarily, then after like..…the fourth time that month I just gave up. I was nine then. And now everything is kind of fuzzy."

Kagome frowned trying to remember. "She was very beautiful; she had the blue in my eyes and midnight blue hair with silver highlights. I think she also had pale skin like the moonlight and a warm touch to her features." Kagome looked at her lap.

"I think my father had..…I don't quite remember. All I remember is swirling blue/silver eyes and, are..…ice blue? No I mean his hair was two different colors…..Iridescent black?" Kagome scrunched up her face. "And tipped ice blue. I remember!" Kagome stood up and made a triumphant stance.

She then remembered whom she was talking to. "Gomen." She blushed. "I didn't mean to…I mean you're just so easy to talk to…..unlike two other people I know..…" Kagome mumbled the last part.

Nishitsuki-sama shook his head. "No, no that's a good thing you are able to finally speak your feelings…and yes." Papa chuckled. "Inuyasha pretends to be too hot-headed to sit and listen, but he is half there." Papa sat down in a chair next to her.

"And Sesshoumaru?" Kagome asked crossing her legs.

"Hmmm….." Papa and looked up thoughtfully. "Well Sesshoumaru is…..complicated."

"Hehe I noticed the emotionless get up." Kagome looked towards the door.

"Yes he started-but wasn't as bad. When he was just ten years old, after his mother…..died..…" Papa looked somber. "Then he never forgave me when I mated with a Izayoi, Inuyasha's mother. He became very stoic and loathed humans after that, but he somewhat got over the loathing 82 years ago." Papa looked down at her.

Kagome licked her lips and looked down at the book cover, the red letters of the title shining in the firelight. "What..…eto..…happened to his mother?" Kagome looked back up.

Papa looked into the fireplace a sad look crossed his face. Kagome flushed, "A! You don't have to answer! It was rude of me-" Kagome was cut of.

"She died…of a rare youkai disease called Tenshi no Kaishi (Angel of Mysterious Death) The proper name is Tenshi no Kassatsu (Angel of Life or Death) but when some one dies from it, it's called Tenchi no Kaishi…understand?" Papa turned sorrowful eyes over to her.

Kagome could feel tears glaze over her eyes as she nodded.

"It was hard on all of us; everyone in the castle loved her as well as some outside of the castle. She was kind…..and back then, that was not common." Papa smiled a sad small smile.

"I've..…I have to say, I've never talked to anyone since Toutoikin-sama and Yoika-sama, some good friends of mine…" Kagome nodded.

A few minutes passed, "Have you ever heard of Seiseitouki?" Kagome sweatdropped She remembered her grandfather saying something like that, `the ironicacy (not a word but hey!)' Kagome thought.

"Ne, not really. Ojii-san mentioned it once but I ignored him…for good reason thought." Kagome laughed nervously.

The ends of Papa's mouth twitched into a smile. "Ee, ano…Seisei has many meanings and one of them is purification, and touki also had many meanings but in this case it means Rise…Seiseitouki mean purification rise."

A long flash of lightning crossed the sky and illuminated the room seized in darkness. Kagome got comfortable; she felt this was going to be a long story. "At least that's what he called himself, years ago…" There was a low rumble of thunder afterwards.

The story took an hour and half tell; a demon by the name of Seiseitouki was a person in the Eastern lands court, a very powerful youkai of unknown origin but said to be from somewhere up north, because his skin had a tint of blue to his pale complexion. (yeah…)

It was said he just appeared out of nowhere at the castle, and the next thing he was a member in the high court. Years later, he gained the position of Supreme member, third in power below the Eastern lord.

He had the Eastern lord's trust somewhat through the Eastern lord's mate. She was very kind hearted and accepted everything and everyone (sound familiar?).

Then some years after that Seiseitouki showed his true intentions; he wanted the whole of Japan starting with the eastern lands…and so he got…'rid' of the eastern lands lord and made it as though it was a natural accident.

Rain pounded against the window, "what did he use?" Kagome asked suspended by the story.

Inutaisho grinned sadistically. "Somehow he used the essence of Tenchi no Kaishi." Outside lightening flashed, followed by thunder.

Kagome jumped, and then nervously calmed down. She looked puzzled at Inutaisho. "Demo…I thought it was Tenshi no Kassatsu?" Papa nodded, grinning.

"Yes but somehow he got the death effect, at least that is what I believe…we never found his body so they just declared him dead." Kagome's eyes widened, "A (A=oh)" She said.

After he died, his wife disappeared for a short while, then reappeared and tried to fight Seiseitouki. He won, but spared her because he `fancied' her friendship to him; after that no one ever saw her again.

However, in the Eastern lands castle no one could get past the barrier that mysteriously had been put up around the throne room.

No one can get in or solve it; that was until recently they figured out that only a new soul with the combined blood of both mates could pass through the barrier and claim the Eastern Land.

Which I think means if they had an heir…but they did not, though they were a very mischievous couple. I would not be surprised if.….well yeah…

The sound of a knock echoed through the large room. "Enter." Inutaisho said and turned his head as two brothers walked in the oldest then the youngest.

"I was wondering when you would come in," Papa beamed. "You could have gotten comfortable in here but instead decide to sit on the floor or lean against the wall."

Inuyasha sputtered. "H-how did you know?" Sesshoumaru knocked Inuyasha over the head,

"Twit. you're so loud you could have woken the dead." Sesshoumaru moved to the side as Inuyasha jumped at him. "Too slow." (sound familiar? Anyone?…I loved it when he said this…I still do)

Papa sighed, "Here we go again…"

Fast flashback

"I like you, you should come over some time and liven the palace up, and it gets old when those two pick fights with each other." Inutaisho said.

End

`Whoa, where did that come from?' Kagome thought but then pushed it away as a screaming Inuyasha went flying over Papa's chair and flew toward her; Kagome gasped and closed her eyes. She felt a body press into her's and the chair rock back then steadied itself back on the floor. The place went rather quiet.

Kagome opened her eyes. Inuyasha's head was stuck into the plush material of the chair to the right of her head. He was so close she could feel the ears on top of his head against her hair. His hands where positioned on either side of her thighs.

Muffled cries where coming from Inuyasha's mouth, not very nice one she might add, at one sentence that had been directed to Sesshoumaru made her laugh. "Inuyasha could you get off?" Kagome laughed as he cursed some more.

He removed one of his hands and rested it on the back of the *cough* couch, and he pushed his face from the material.

Lightening flashed. "AH! Fresh air! Man that is dustier than it looks-ne?" Inuyasha looked down to see a shocked red-faced Kagome. Outside thunder rumbled by.

"Na-na-nani?" Inuyasha then looked down. Where he thought he put his hand was the back of the couch was actually the top of Kagome's chest (Heay I am watching Chobits…And Miroku say's he is bursting with pride for Inuyasha…)

"Ahhhhh! HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET THERE!" Inuyasha yelled, horrified as he moved his hands from their current occupation to his sides. Kagome covered up her chest in embarrassment, her face going from red to a dangerous crimson.

"Inuyasha…" Kagome growled, which turned one youkai slightly `on', another amused, and the other fearing for his life.

"I didn't mean it! I didn't know they were there! I swear! I was just trying to- don't kill me please I'm too young." Inuyasha collapsed on the floor and put his hands up in prayer while looking down.

Kagome's expression softened, and then she leaned down to eye level with him putting a comforting hand on his shoulder and patting it.

"Inuyasha its okay I'm just…overly embarrassed, but at least you didn't mean it…like my first day of school…" Kagome still red, smiled as the dazed look on Inuyasha's face as he looked up.

"You're not going to kill me?" Inuyasha asked disbelievingly.

Kagome's laugh was music to the hanyou's ears. `I'm not going to die, I'll live to a ripe old age!'

Kagome looked at Inuyasha, "No…at least not today, I think you've had enough flying action for one day." Kagome patted Inuyasha's head (like you would a doggie!)

"I wouldn't want your cute soft ears to get ruined!" Kagome attacked Inuyasha's ears instead. Inuyasha blushed but let her.

"Well if you enjoy feeling my ears you should Sesshoumaru's Fukafukashita!" (soft/smooth and fluffy)

"What's that?" Kagome asked looking over at Sesshoumaru who all of a sudden became rather stiff.

"His tail pelt." Inuyasha grinned evilly behind her back at his brother.

"Tail?" Kagome tilted her head to the side, and then looked over to Sesshoumaru. She passed by Inuyasha and something akin to a hop/walked up to Sesshoumaru. She circled him curiously, innocence pouring off her in tangible waves.

"Where? I wanna see, Can I see?" Kagome looked up hopefully into the eyes of Sesshoumaru; he looked down at her his gaze as cool and collected as always. \

"…Your clothes are dry…follow…" Sesshoumaru walked into the hallway, a dejected Kagome with her head down waved at the occupants in the room as she walked out the large double-door.

In Sesshoumaru's room

Kagome looked down at her neatly folded clothes on Sesshoumaru's bed somewhat disappointed.

"What?" An emotionless voice spoke.

"Ah…I was wondering…" Kagome slowly turned; she looked down at the floor fidgeting with her hands.

"Are…" She turned pink and fingered the silk shirt Sesshoumaru had given her. "Is it okay if…I…eek nani mo." Kagome waved it off; `Chicken…' she thought. Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips.

"You can keep the shirt…you're most likely going to be sleeping over." Kagome looked up at him with amazement written all over her face.

"Hontou!" Kagome smiled brightly at him.

"Doomo arigatou gozaimasu!" Kagome bowed four times hurriedly, then without thinking jumped and hugged Sesshomaru around the middle, then jumped back and hopped around his room like a bunny on coffee.

Sesshoumaru stared, amazed on the inside but stoic on the outside at her. "Stay here." He said and walked out the room. She shrugged and sat on the edge of his bed that was soft and gave way to fit her form.

She suddenly yawned. Everything that happened that day caved in on her, she realized just how tired she was. She gazed down at Sesshoumaru's bed. `Why are the covers coming closer?' She found that answer when her face rested on the soft fleece.

`Yeah…that might be why…' Kagome rolled over more on the bed. "So soft…" She whispered her eyes closing as she brushed the fleece with her hands.

Her breaths evened out as she rolled again, though this time grabbing a pillow and hugging it to her body. She brought her legs up around the pillow, Sesshoumaru's shirt exposing way to much skin.

This was the adorable position Sesshoumaru found her in as he silently opened and closed the door. `How cute-wait! This is my mind; this is MY mind…where the hell is a camera when you need it? Time out! THIS IS MY- ah forget it…' Sesshoumaru sighed aloud as he crossed the room.

He pulled the covers down and then picked up and layed down Kagome in between the covers. He pulled them over her shoulders, and then settled himself beside her. He brushed her bangs away but they just bounced right back mocking his attempts.

`Why me…My life was perfect…boring, but perfect…now I'm secretly glad she came into it…just like Rin…' Sesshoumaru thought. He stood up once more brushing her bangs, though this time letting his hands slide down her check and lingering around her lips.

`You are an enigma Higurashi, Kagome really, you are…' He walked out of the room and to the other side of the mansion, for once in dire need of his father's words.
