Chapter One
The Rogue Wolf
Kagome sighed as she looked at the clock. She turned her head towards the window, sighing as she took in the beautiful sights of the sky; mainly the moon. It was almost full tonight, and there was a small string of fog hanging below it, making it look majestic. She couldn't wait another four days for the full moon.
She was so bored right now. It was almost 9:00, and sure, she had homework, but she felt that she couldn't do it at the moment. Her thoughts drifted to Inuyasha and the others, and to Kouga. Here she smiled. Kouga was really sweet, in a possessive kind of way. Inuyasha was very nice to her now, well… nicer than he had been when they had first met anyway. She really liked him, but he was not very open with his feelings, often brushing people off, mainly her. Hm… Maybe she should go talk to Inuyasha and the others and visit them for a while.
She nodded to herself, grabbing her jacket and yellow backpack, heading out the door before her mother tried to stop her. “Kagome? Where are you off to, now?” Kagome sighed, stopping right before she opened the front door.
“I'm going to visit Inuyasha and the others for a while. Can I?”
“Yes… Be back soon, okay?” Her mother warned. A small smile crept upon her aged face, showing concern and love for her only daughter.
“Yes. I'll try to be back soon,” Kagome groaned. Little did she know that this would be that last time she would see her mother's smiling face for five hundred years.

It had been a normal entrance into the Feudal Era, as always, but when Kagome came through to the other side, she was confronted by a hungry looking wolf-like creature. She backed away as soon as she stepped out of the well, the wolf creature advancing on her. She took a small step, tripping on a tree root. She fell back, and the wolf jumped forward, slashing its sharp claws across her stomach, leaving a deep flesh wound. She screamed for help, just as the creature reverted to its human form. Kagome's eyes widened. Instead of a wolf creature, there now stood a man, completely naked.
Kagome averted her eyes. The man kneeled next to her, cupping her chin with his hand, turning her towards him. He let go, pulling her down under him. She gasped at the pain in her abdomen as the man laid her on the ground. He held her shoulders with the palms of his hands, making sure she could not escape this. He needed a good mate, and here one lay beneath him. He smirked.
“You do not need to look away, for you will soon be my mate. But first,” he began as he leaned his mouth to her neck, “you need to become one of us.” He smirked again, and sank his fangs into the delicate skin of her neck. She screamed again and again as the man's hands moved down her arms with his sharp claws, leaving droplets off blood behind. “I can't wait until the full moon, love,” he said cryptically, licking her cheek.

Kouga had heard the scream; a young woman's scream. He stopped short, sniffing the air. He heard the scream again. His eyes widened.
“Kagome!” He was off in a flash, leaving his clan bewildered in the den. He ran as fast as he could towards the place where Kagome's scent was leading him. He found a wolf from a different pack leaning over top of Kagome, his face buried in her long black hair. She was struggling with the foreign man to get free, but to no avail. Kouga could feel the rage inside him begin to build as he saw her unconscious form.
He ran straight at the wolf. “You filthy asshole! Get off of my woman!” he yelled giving him a deadly blow to his chest. The wolf fell off of her, gasping for air. He looked Kouga straight in the face.
“Your woman, huh? I can't smell that you've mated, yet. Oh well, next time, pup. Next time I see you, you'll be dead.” And with that, he turned to his wolf form, dashing into the forest. Kouga made to follow the wolf, but instead looked at Kagome. He picked her up bridal style, running off towards Kaede's village. `Please be okay, Kagome.'
Once there, the wolf prince set her down gently on the mat in the priestesses hut. Kaede looked her over. Kouga sat cross legged next to her peacefully sleeping form once Kaede had cleaned her up and left, setting his hand gently upon hers. He gasped, noticing the fang marks on her neck. He cursed at the bastard wolf that attacked Kagome, his fist brought up to silently shake in the air. `How dare he convert her! She does not deserve a fate such as this. I can't believe he did that to you, Kagome…' He thought pitifully as he set his hand back on top of hers calmly. She began to stir, and his ears twitched, perking up. Kagome's eyes fluttered open, revealing her now icy blue orbs.
She groaned, her hand flying to her neck. It stung. Kouga leaned over her. “Kagome? How are you feeling?” He said, concern showing in his bright, yet sad, eyes. Kagome blinked a few times.
“I have a huge headache, my neck hurts, I feel like crap, and also have a strong urge to kill that bastard,” she laughed, trying to cheer up Kouga and herself. Kouga laughed half-heartedly. He just wanted Kagome to rest. She began to sit up, with the silent help of Kouga.
“Kagome... do you need anything?” she looked at him with tear-filled eyes. He was taken aback, not expecting her to cry.
“A hug… would be nice…” She said, the tears flooding her eyes. Kouga felt tears of his own creeping into his eyes as well as he hugged her as tight as he could without hurting her. He sat there, rubbing the small of her back, soothing her as she sobbed into his chest. He began to cry silently along with her, wishing she didn't have to go through this.

Kagome had recovered fully within only two days. This stunned her. She wondered how she had healed so quickly, and asked Kouga about it. She had sensed that the wolf prince knew something about this. Kagome paused in mid-step and shook her head, chuckling. No, she didn't sense it; how silly of her to think that.
Kagome sighed to herself as she began walking again. She couldn't go through the well for some reason, and that bothered her. Her family was probably looking all over for her, getting worried and anxious. `Mom,' she thought as a lone tear made a track down her face.

“Well? Do you know, Kouga-kun? How come I healed that quickly?” she pointed at him accusingly. He sighed, motioning for her to follow him. She was confused, but followed. He told her he was going to take her to his den, where they should stay for a while. He told Kaede, and they left. As they walked, Kouga answered her question.
“When that werewolf bit you, he also turned you into a werewolf. Wolves have a natural ability to heal very quickly. That's why you're so healthy already.” Kagome bit her lip. She was a werewolf, and the full moon was due two days from now.
“What about…” she began, but Kouga interrupted.
“-the full moon? That is why we are going to my den. It will make it easier on you and those around you if you were there with me to watch over you.”
“Are you also a werewolf?” she questioned. Kouga sighed.
“Yes. I was born one, though, so I don't know what exactly you're going through now, on account that I grew up like this. Oh,” he began, stopping and turning around to face her, “When you turn, you're body structure as a human will be altered slightly, to look similar to what I look like, with fangs, a tail, and ears like this,” he added wiggling them. Kagome laughed slightly. Kouga smiled. He needed something to cheer her up.
The two wolves soon made it up to his den, and he led her to his chamber in the back of the cave. Along the way, Kagome was met with the eyes of dozens of other wolves. She overheard two of them whispering.
“Do you think Prince Kouga brought her as a present?”
“No stupid. She's not a present. Obviously it's Kouga's mate. He finally found one, but I wonder if he knows anything about-”
“I can hear you, Ginta. Hakakku. Do not talk about my woman like that,” Kouga scoffed at the two. The one with a Mohawk bowed.
“Sorry.” Kagome giggle lightly as she was led into the back with Kouga. He fell on his back, crossing his arms behind his head, sighing.
“Those two. I swear, they make little remarks about every damned thing I do.” Kagome laughed out loud. “What?” he asked confused.
“It was just so funny, I don't know why!” She smiled, wiping a joyful tear from her eyes. Kouga pouted.
“It's not that funny.”

Kagome and Kouga had settled under his fur blankets for the night, but Kagome just couldn't seem to sleep with all the questions running through her troubled mind. Why wasn't she able to go through the well? Was it because she was a werewolf, now? Surely it couldn't close before the jewel was purified… could it? She was slightly annoyed at the stupid well, and decided to think about different matters.
Her thoughts wandered to the wolf sleeping soundly next to her, and her heart pounded a little harder. She knew she had developed feelings for the man, but she had loved Inuyasha. No, Inuyasha couldn't be with her. She was a werewolf. He said himself he wouldn't go anywhere near a female werewolf unless it was to kill it, two weeks ago.
-Flashback-
“Get the hell off me, you whore!” Inuyasha yelled at the woman who began to wrap her arms around his neck and lick is face. A few hours and multitudes of exhaustion later, Inuyasha slumped next to a tree trunk. “Damn. I'm never going near a female werewolf again. I've had this happen way too many times. If I do go near one, it's just because I'll kill it. No exceptions.”
-End Flashback-
A silent tear fell down her face. She wouldn't be able to face him now. He wouldn't allow her to be near him, let alone love him. A new thought entered her head. Maybe she could… learn to love another… named Kouga. She smiled. She really did like him, and he was compassionate and nice, and had feelings for her as well. She sighed. `I'll just have to think about it later,' she thought as she fell asleep.

Kagome woke up early the next morning to the sound of heavy breathing in her ear. She flinched, only to remember it was Kouga. She lay back down, feeling the warmth of his body against hers, and the feel of his arm draping loosely around her waist. She could get used to this.
She perked up at hearing Kouga yawn. She turned over to look at him. He looked… Wow, Kagome thought. During the night he must have messed up his hair, making him really attractive the way his loose strands of hair fell onto his wolfish face. A small grin came upon his face as he woke up next to her, fixating his ice blue eyes on her.
“Good morning.” He rubbed his eyes, waking up more. He stretched his arms into the air as he sat up, yawning again. Kagome giggled. “What?” he asked innocently. She just smiled warmly at him.
`I could learn to love him,' she thought as her thoughts replayed in her head.
