Chapter six- Escape!

Kagome smiled as her hand ran through the soft fur.

"I knew you were Kilala" She said as she admired its beauty.

The cat looked into her eyes. She was worried, that hadn't been an ordinary demon watching her.

Kagome had forgotten about the demon, or she didn't want to remember. She picked up the nightshade and hurried off leaving Kilala staring into space.

"Aren't you comming" Kagome said in a worried voice.

'Of course!' Kilala thought. she changed back to her small cute form and gladly followed Kagome 'It is my duty. after all...'

-----------

Kagome worked tirelessly preparing her sleeping potion. She mixed and chopped herbs called henbane, witches bonnet, a small blue fungi some call devils spawn and nightshade. (A/n: this actually comes from the book). Kagome had to be extra careful with the nightshade. To much and the person would never wake up, it was the equivalent of murder, to little and the person would wake up in a matter of minutes.

Kagome had to get it just right for her purposes.

At her feet the little form of Kilala rested, dreaming... of what? you couldn't be sure for who knows what a demon dreams?.

"Finished" Kagome jumped up from the chair holding a small bottle with purple crystals inside.

Kilala stirred and opened her bright red eyes. 'Good' She thought her eyes beaming with pride 'Now it is time to set her free'

-----------

This was the hard part...

Kagome had to get the potion into the food, she decided she would slip it into their ale, without anyone seeing her or knowing what was going on.

She sighed as she watched the servants walk back and forth giving her no chance of slipping in the potion.

"Damn" she whispered. "what the hell am i going to do?"

Suddenly there was a loud crash. All the servants cried out and ran out the servants door to the garden.

"That was convineint" Kagome smiled.

She whistled, like you do when your doing something suspecious, as she back her way to the jugs of ale. She slipped it in, hoping she added the right amount of nightshade and ran away fugitivly, not really looking where she was going.

Suddenly she made contact with something or someone.

"Auntie?" She said startled

"What are you doing here?" She asked looking at the shaking girl, like a deer caught in a cage.

"Ah... nothing!" She tried to laugh and gave a huge fake smile.

Kaede shock her head 'There is something wrong with that girl's head'.

Kagome ran passed her auntie and hid behind the next corridor. "Did she see me?" She whispered.

Suddenly Kilala was in front of her, in her cute form (A/n: i want a Kilala) and mewwed 'that was painful' but Kagome didn't hear.

Kagome sighed and wiped the sweet from her forhead with her hand.

"That was way to close." She said as she bent over and picked the youkai up. She noticed a little red spot of blood on her leg "What is this?' She asked no one in particular.

Then she remembered the loud crash she had heard. It had been so strange and convinient.

A man ran past her "The wall calapsed!" he yelled.

She looked at the cat "Did you knock the wall down so i could put my potion in?"

"Mew" Was her answer.

'What excactly are you?' She thought to herself.

As if reading her thoughts Kilala looked up her eyes seemed to say 'i am what i am'

"Whatever it was it sure got me out a of a jam" She cuddled the youkai "all we need to do is wait".

It didn't take long for the guards to guzzle down the drinks and head back down the stais to the dungeon.

----------

The prisoner sat in the middle of the room. There were two guards one making cruel threats and the other confirming them with a red hot iron poker. one minute she felt numb all over and the next excutitaing pain, she couldn't tell which was worse.

"Bloody bitch" Growled one guard but his words seemed slurred "Tell us where the rest of you scum are!"

She kept her mouth shut 'I will never talk' her eyes said. The guard nodded tothe other standing behind her.

She screamed as something red hot stabbed into her back. as it was dragged out the wound was flooded with blood. she didn't notice on of the guards stumbled a bit...

"I feel terrible, lets go outside" Said one guard

"She ain't gonna talk. Stupid bitch" He hit her over the head as she stared into nothingness.

She didn't even hear when the two guards fell on top of each other just outside the bars. Her pain was to undbearable but then through her tears she saw something...

It was as white as a sheet and transparent. 'I'm dying!' she thought 'This is the grim reaper coming to take me away'

"Not excactly" she said her voice sweet and sad she walked closer to the prsoner but stopped when they were a few feet apart. she stood their tall and powerful, her magical arua seemed to consume the room and the prisoner felt a tranquil bliss, even as it searched her heart. "I have come to help you"

'Who are you?' she growled as she felt the arua around her heart, she was frightned of what it was and what it might do 'Some stuppid spell? Are you trying to make me talk?'

"Why would i need to do that? I can already see everything in your soul" She laughed.

The prisoner growled "You know nothing"

"You can't excactly remember can you?" She spoke the truth looking into the girls eyes. the prisoner clutched her beating chest, only realising she couldn't, it was all gone...

"when you have been lost in nothing but pain for so long you forget... Who you are." she seemed to drift off as if she spoke of her own experiences "Do you even know you name?" she asked.

The prisoners eyes went wide 'my name?' she asked, she couldn't remember, she almost begged the spirit to tell her, with her pleading eyes.

Midoriko moved closer to the girl, she knelt down and took her bleeding hands and whispered into her ear. "Don't worry. I know who you are. Sango..."

'Sango?' She thought in return.

"Don't forget it for it may be your only way home in the future. You need to relax and rest for a while. your memories will return"

Suddenly the transparent face changed. It got more and more realistic and the features became younger, sweeter, they no longer seemed to hold saddness or longing.

"Are you okay" She said and her voice was so much happier and yet worried.

"Sango?" Was all she could reply.

"What did they do to you" Kagome stared at the gapping wounds, and wanted to be sick "Oh my god. We have to get you out of here"

Gently she lifted the girl and carried her out of the prison. She had to be careful not to reopen anymore wounds, although her shirt was becoming bloodier by the minute.

The girl was a lot heavier than she thought but Kagome was determined more than ever to get her out of there. Enemy or not, no one deserved to be treated in such a horrible way.

She thought this even as she accidently stepped on the hand of one of the guards. His only response was a mummbled groan.

instinctivly she gasped "sorry".

All Kagome had to do was take her through the window in the hallway. Everyone was outside fixing the wall that had mysteriously fallen down. There Kilala would be waiting and they could take the girl away.

In the shadows Midoriko watched with a sad smile on her face. She was proud of the kindness in Kagomes heart. She had passed this test. Now Midoriko was certian she would be what saves her, this girls soul.

Suddenly Midoriko turned to Kilala, the cat youkai who looked at her with worry filled eyes 'He no longer looks for you' she thought.

It may seem strange but Midoriko heard what the youkai thought and her eyes went wide. 'Kagome?'

Then the cat was gone as if she had never even been there.

Midoriko stared into the hallway where Kagome and Sango had exited.

Fear filled her senses at the very thought of him... And fear for Kagome's soul soon sprouted as well.

----------------

Just as she thought, Kilala was waiting in her larger form, at the window of the second floor.

it didn't matter how high they were Kilala seemed to be able to fly and the fire at her feet blazed underneath her like a tourch but because everyone was worried about what Leon would think if he saw his wall had fallen down they were all trying to fix it, and wouldn't see them.

As Kagome dragged the unconcious girl onto Kilala she whispered to the cat "You know the wall keeps falling down every time they rebuild it?"

Kilala let out a low growl which almost sounded like a laugh. Kagome made sure she and the prisoner wouldn't fall off the demons back and with a loud growl, they were off headed straight towards the forest.

'Sango?' the prisoner thought to herself 'Am i Sango?'

A/n: if anyone guessed the prisoner was Sango. She's got a little bit of amnesia. Poor girl...

I also wanted to say. I love you people. You say such nice things.

I really don't take critism well, even when people also say nice things... (That's pretty much why i don't show my mother my ideas cause she says that looks nice in a bored tone) so please if you don't want to make me cry (i cried when mum asked me why my unicorn looks like a blue fox, we still fight over it. see how sensative i am) Then write nice things or nothing at all.

Though i did like what dudekiller(nsi) and sublimetrickster wrote. (I read both 'red riding haori' and 'dog skin'. They were so good. Dog skin was one of the fanfic's that gave me the idea to write about the book Daughter of the Forest. So thanks for the inspiration oh and i'm sorry i can spell very well. I take after my dad in that department)
