a/n: not much to say. I like your motto Olandolover "save the earth it's the only planet with chocolate" its even better then mine which is "i only eat baby animals!" (you have to say it with a big scary smile in super markets around lots of people)

diclaimer: i don't own inuyasha cause Rumiko Takahashi does, i also don't own the book 'daughter of the forest' cause Julliet Marillier does. So i don't claim the storyline or the characters.

Chapter Nineteen- Dog Demon Kingdom

"Have you found her yet?" Growled the demon his red eyes blazing and his black hair flowing wildly.

The woman who kneeled before him clentched her teeth knowing all to well the punishment her news would bring. Kagura could only stay and take it without a word, and let her anger and hatred fester in her heart and dream of one day finishing the brute Naraku off.

Kanna was as silent and emotionless as ever and she said not a word to defend her sister. She never told him of her betrayel in helping the young miko or her own plans. She held her mirror close to her heart and stayed silent.

"No my lord" Kagura voice was soft almost afraid "we have searched the forest but she-"

"What?" growled Naraku rising from his seat "A mere child has alluded your grasp?"

"She had help" Kagura began "Mi-"

"That bloody Kilala!" he stormed across the room "She always gets in my way! Kanna!"

the small girl stepped forward and stood before the demon. She was unafraid though she was nothing but an ant before him.

"Can you see her?" He hissed.

For a moment all was silent, Kanna stared off into space and Kagura watched with mild interest. Then the girl looked up and said "No, she is guarded by strong magic, like Midoriko"

Naraku growled and raised his hand to hit Kanna, who did not move an inch, then he thought better of it and hit Kagura across the cheek instead.

As Kagura rubbed the red mark he made on her face she growled out "We will keep looking my lord" and thought 'one day i will have your head'

Sesshomaru watched as the boat docked in the harbour. He waited for news from his brother, he wanted to know all that had happened to Leon's kingdom and whether or not the war was still on. He did not care for Sango.

Then he saw that it was not the demon exterminator who came ashore with Inuyasha, it was a different girl. Sesshomaru watched from one the beach shore that was a short distance from his castle. He watched as the girl shrank away from any help offered and did everything herself, he also saw Inuyasha who seemed worried and exhausted.

He came towards Sesshomaru and said with a smile "I didn't think you would be in the welcoming party brother"

"I had to see what news you would bring me" came the reply. Sesshomaru wasn't one for cheery conversation and with the other king around he had to act the powerful leader.

Koga stood beside Inuyasha watching him with distaste. The two were arch rivals and always fought vilonetly over women and who was the strongest. Inuyasha growled and Koga laughed "Happy to see me dog face?"

Miroku stood apart from the demons knowing Inuyasha would be in a bad mood with Koga around, Kagome stood beside him staring in awe and fright.

"Brother, there was no sign of Leon or any of his people, it's as if they all vanished! The only thing i found was..." He gestured to Kagome, who stood there glaring at him.

"Jenny it's okay, they don't bite, well Sesshomaru doesn't"

Koga snorted at the insult. Kagome steeped forward to be examined by both demons. Sesshomaru was a tall regal looking demon, with purple scars on his face and long white hair. He dressed like a king with the Tensaiga at his side.

Koga wore wolf skin around his waist and his black hair was tired into a ponytail. He gazed at her with intense blue eyes and Kagome shivered.

"Why did you bring her?" Asked Sesshomaru as he eyed her up and down.

Inuyasha remembered again what Sesshomaru would do if he thought she may have information "Entertainment" was his answer.

Kagome froze, not liking the way they were all looking at her. Like hungry dogs watching a meal, she was on show to these demons. Inuyasha was showing off his prize and she was afraid of their staring an wished she could hide in her forest.

Koga eyed her appreciatively, looking at her plain gown and innocent face. "Well well, what do we have here?" he laughed and Inuyasha began to growl faintly "a treat from across the sea. What is your name?"

Inuyasha stood in front of her, finally hiding her from their hungry eyes. She felt safe behind him, protected as he promised.

"She cannot talk and she is not for you" He spat at Koga.

"That's settled then" Sesshomaru stepped in knowing where this argumant was heading. "Miroku get her set up"

Miroku nodded and bade Kagome to follow him. She did it without a second thought, not turning back because she knew they were all staring.

Inuyasha didn't like the way Koga licked his lips and he warned "Do not touch her, wolf, or i'll skin you alive"

Then he left the two, he was tired and hungry. He needed clean clothes and rest for he was sure he would need his strength, Koga wasn't one to listen to his threats.

Kagome's room was a little corner in the servants chambers. An old woman with kind eyes and a sweet voice was in charge of her. She told Kagome that if she was going to live here then she had to pull her weight and work. She would start off with simple chores, collecting water from the well nearby, sweeping and cleaning. Nothing too hard.

Kagome was happy to be away from all those prying eyes. The other servants left he alone though they did stare at her and gossip. Kagome didn't listen for she knew what they said would not be nice.

She carried the little pail down the path to the well. She was surprised they would make her work on her arrival, it seemed as if they were trying to keep her out of the castle.

It was only a short distance away just before the forest that was the barried between the wolf kingdom and the demon kingdom. She stopped at the well and stared at the great trees. It was nothing like her forest but she still felt drawn to it all the same.

It was a place to hide, to be free of them all. She found herself dropping the bucket and taking a step forward.

"You came from across the sea?" Asked a small voice.

She whirled around, seeing no one. Then she looked down and there was a little fox demon. His bushy tail swayed two and fro and his feet were not human feet but paws. He was watching her with big inquisitve eyes.

She nodded and the child steeped closer cautiously "They say you can't talk!"

She nodded again and opened her mouth as if to say 'see no voice'. The child smiled and sat at her feet "I'm Shippo! I live here too!"

He picked up the pail where she had dropped it and went to the well to fill it with water. Kagome realised his presence made her forget the callig of the forest. She also realised it would not be a good idea to go wandering around in a strange forest.

"let me help you with your work, then we can play!" he was a young child and very cute how could Kagome resist?

Inuyasha stared solemly at the ceiling, his arms behind his head. He wore the same red outfit and the Tetsaiga beside the bed. It was night and he found he could no longer sleep.

He had awoke in the middle of the night after dreaming something horrible. It was Jenny, afraid, alone. Hiding, running through the forest, where Inuyasha had found her. She was being persued by some dark shadow and it was gaining on her.

He was in the dream as well and was looking for her, he could not find her, though she could sense her. Then she would scream and the terror in her voice, the voice he had never heard, startled him from sleep.

He contemplated what such a dream could mean. He tossed and he turned with worry. If she was taken from him he would never know about Sango, or Leon and he would never hear her voice telling him all she knew.

She was in danger, but who would try to hurt her?

'Koga' he thought angrily, remembering the volgar way he stared at her, his eyes taking in her small body, her caring face. If Inuyasha was right, Koga would persue her relentlessly and nothing would stop him. Except Inuyasha.

He already told Mrs. Bucket (a/n: that was the first thing that came to mind!) the old woman in harge ofn the servants, to give Jen easy jobs away the castle, as long as Koga was staying there and he told the kid Shippo and Miroku to watch her but there was only so much those two could do.

Sesshomaru would not help him, he liked to stay out of their quarrels until they got really bad. He believed it important for them to fight. Only he could protect her for that was his promise, to the ghost woman, to Jen (Jenny) and to himself.

a/n: I never really liked Koga, only when Inuyasha was jealous of him, so i kinda made him not a good guy.

Mrs. Bucket is a stupid name but she ain't a very important character she's only in charge of the servants. I also decided to shorten Jenny just cause i'm lazy and i only just thought of that name.

Hope you peoples aren't confused! cause i am, just kidding.
